Can fear be the root cause of our deepest insecurities and limitations? On this special episode of Doing Life with Ken and Tabatha, we confront fear head-on, reimagining it as false evidence appearing real. Through the lens of faith, we uncover how fear tries to paralyze us, while faith propels us forward. By sharing personal anecdotes and reflections, we reveal the often-overlooked ways fear infiltrates our lives, misleading us and keeping us from God's plan. It's time to liberate ourselves from fear’s deceitful grip.

Use your comments . You know , email us , write a review , share your God story . You know many people around the world are writing in saying this is what I needed , this is what God spoke , these were the chains that were broken , and those things really , really , really encourage us .

Okay , of course , this is first and foremost a relationship and marriage podcast , but it's also a personal growth podcast , and we started it . We had this idea about four or five years ago that there was a lot of things that we wanted to share with people , but we didn't have a medium and the Lord just gave us this medium to be able to do a podcast .

We didn't know that it would grow and be such a blessing all over the place , but we're glad that it did . But our goal has always remained very simple it's to help people grow closer to God and also closer to the people that God has placed in your life . And so we'll take 25 years of marriage .

Y'all , we just celebrated 25 years of marriage and we're going to take our good , bad , ugly and everything in between and try to pay it forward so you can learn from our success and also from our failure . So if you're new to our podcast , hit the subscribe button . We drop a new show every Thursday at 3 pm . Okay , and you'll be glad you did .

No , I'm just playing . We'll be glad that you did as well . Love y'all . All right . Anyway , you ready to get started today ? I'm ready . Um , let's talk about freedom from fear . Um , how would you define fear ?

Speaker 2

oh , how would I define fear ? Okay , all kinds of stuff come to my mind . Um , first , I would probably define fear as maybe the absence of faith okay , the opposite of faith , the the opposite of faith you know , when there's no faith in the room , there's fear . Okay , fear left .

Speaker 1

Okay .

Speaker 2

I think that I'm reminded of the Ackerman false evidence appearing real , meaning that a lot of the times that we fear it's just not even real , it's a figment of our imagination . We fear the worst thing that could happen . Yeah , Fear not even real , it's a figment of our imagination . We fear the worst thing that could happen . Fear is a liar .

Fear speaks to you to kind of paralyze you and keep you from doing the thing that you probably should be doing walking by faith . I don't know .

Speaker 1

Okay , I feel like there's a lot of people nowadays who walk by fear , or they have a lot of fear , some big fears , some small fears . Yeah , it's still the spirit of fear . Um , why do you think it's so common ? But and then there's people who they have fears and they don't even know that it's a problem . It's just like almost accepted that .

Okay , I have a fear of this and it's okay , I just got this little fear . It's no big deal . Can you talk about that at all ?

Speaker 2

I think that fear is . Now that I have a biblical perspective , it changed everything for me , and so faith is . The Bible says that we should walk by faith and not by sight , that the just shall live by faith , and so God operates by giving us faith . We work on a faith system , but we know that the enemy , Satan , is the great imitator .

So he wants to be the God of this world , he wants to be God . So God operates through faith , but Satan operates through fear . God uses faith to get you what you want . Satan uses fear to get you what you don't want , and so I think you can operate sometimes in either faith or fear , and you can make it very plain and simple sometimes , like for me .

You know , okay , are you walking by faith right now or are you walking by fear ? Because , as someone who grew up not in the church , I didn't know what faith was at all , but I knew what fear was . I had many fears . I was afraid of everything . I didn't know who God was , but I knew who the devil was .

I didn't even necessarily believe in God , but I believed in the devil because I heard of tales about all of these horror stories . I watched all of the horror , the movies on TV like the Exorcist and things like that , and so I knew all about fear . So fear was common and it was acceptable In fact , like if you're not afraid .

It's kind of like what are you ? An alien , what do you mean ? You're not afraid , what do you mean ? It's almost like counter what we should be doing .

Speaker 1

And so fear has been something in your life that you've had to overcome a lot . Do you feel like you grew up in an atmosphere that was high of fear ? And then how did you get over fear ?

Speaker 2

if that was true , yeah , because I didn't grow up with God and so we didn't go to church . We didn't know about God . No one was saved , and so if they were , I didn't know it . So where there's the absence of faith , you know , fear is on the scene . So where there's the absence of faith , fear is on the scene .

So we didn't have a God to believe in , we didn't have a God to trust in that he would save us , that he would deliver us , that he would keep us safe , and so , without God , it's a very fearful world . Who was going to provide for us ? Who was going to take care of us ?

Who do we call on when it's out of our hands , for sickness , for disease , for all types of things you don't have God to call on . So it is a fearful , it's a terrible world to live in without God .

Speaker 1

Okay , Well , it's interesting how you're defining the difference between faith and fear . I mean , I really didn't think that we would talk a lot about faith , but I guess that could be on the opposite side of fear , I mean . I really didn't think that we would talk a lot about faith , but I guess that could be on the opposite side of fear .

You know , faith is confidence in what you believe , is acting on what you believe . Faith is the substance of things hoped for , the evidence of things not real . Fear to me can be the emotion of being afraid . It can be living a fearful life . I think there's big fears that people have . I think there's a bunch of little fears .

Some people are fearful of success , fearful of failure . Some people are fearful . I know of a woman who just refuses to drive because she had a car accident years ago . It's just a fear to be behind the wheel . There's people who have the fear of flying . Some's just a fear to be behind the wheel . There's people who have the fear of flying .

You know , some people have a fear and maybe it's even , but they'll put it on wisdom .

Speaker 2

You know when .

Speaker 1

I'm fear . I don't want to get in the ocean because you know there's stuff in there and it's just wise for me not to , and maybe it's fear , or maybe it's wisdom , I don't know . Or I don't want to get in a plane . I can just drive . Yeah , you can , but there is a chance , I guess .

Speaker 2

And I guess that's what faith is .

Speaker 1

When we walk by faith , we're basically walking by risk , we're walking by a chance , but to me , walking by faith means that I walk by the word of God . So when the scripture says that , hey , no weapon formed against me shall prosper , when I walk by faith I'm going to step onto a plane .

Believing that no weapon formed , it doesn't mean the weapon won't be formed , it just means that it won't prosper . And so to me , there's a big difference in your results between walking by fear and walking by faith , and I just feel like fear keeps people in an invisible prison where it's hard for them to love and it's hard for them to trust .

It's hard for them to be a part of churches , it's hard for them to be a part of an organization that's progressive , it's hard for them to be in a healthy marriage because they fear the worst things happening . And faith is believing for God's best Anything . Come to you with that .

Speaker 2

Yeah , I mean , you know it's an even as a believer . You know a more mature believer sometimes it's , you know you struggle on . Is this faith or fear ? Or is this fear , or is this just common sense ? I remember when we first moved here to Orlando . They have the world's tallest , or it's now the world's second tallest drop .

It's like you go up 200 feet in the air and they drop you down . You're connected to a wire but they drop you down . It's the world's second largest here in Orlando , yeah . And so I kept riding past it and I had this thing with heights before , like oh my gosh . You know , I've , like really was afraid of heights .

That's how I would describe myself before I became a believer . And so I'm a mature believer , I'm in Orlando and this thing keeps . I would look at it and just feel nervous , like , oh my gosh , I'm going to do it .

And so the time came , I was in the park and I just went up there and I actually Tina was there , my sister-in-law , and she was like let's go do it . And I just couldn't tell her no , because I was afraid and I wanted to do the opposite of my fear . I wanted to say I'm not afraid , I'm going to step to my fear and I'm going to walk by faith .

I'm going to overcome this , it's okay . And so I got up in there and I did it , I did it , I did it , y'all Um , but I hated every second of it . I hated every second of it . It was so terrifying , it made me sick to my stomach , literally . Like I didn't like anything about it , and so what I determined was now , okay , there's the emotion of fear .

You know what I mean there's . There's an emotion of fear which you know is is good for you . Like , you know what I mean . Like , okay , I'm afraid of that dog that's foaming at the mouth and snarling .

Speaker 1

Okay , sharks in the water and I can see their shark . That's a good fear , like don't get in the water right now .

Speaker 2

Yeah , but there's like that , that fear . That is , I don't know , maybe a reverence or a respect , like , okay , the shark is right there and I could see it . It's like , yeah , let me run from the shark because there's the reverence , is there ? Like that shark can eat me .

I'm going to turn around and run from it , not like , oh my gosh , I'm dead , I'm already dead . The shark's there , I see it , it's going to eat me , I'm dead . You know , like people like there's this fear that like you just already you know count , you consider the worse .

I think that there's I don't know how to explain that different , but there's a difference . Let me finish the story . So I go up in the thing , I drop down and I'm like , ok , I hated that , I'm not going to do that anymore , because I just hate it . And what I say now is that like , OK , I'm not afraid , because fear is like you .

Fear isn't fully fear my opinion , until you act on it . And so fear says don't do that because you're going to get this result , and so fear paralyzes you and you don't do it . But faith is more like , and when you don't act on the fear is like don't do , don't get up on there because if you go up in there , you're going to die .

You're just going to fall straight down to the ground . It just ain't even right . Right that that would be fear . Like , okay , I , you're going to die , you're just going to fall straight down to the ground . It just ain't even right . That would be fear . Like , okay , I'm not going to do it because I acted on it .

Now I think fear becomes really fear and solidified in you . When you act on it , you say I'm never going to fly in a plane because I'm afraid of heights .

Speaker 1

It changes your personality . It changes the word of God . Instead of you believing what the word says , you believe your experience or you believe your emotion .

And it paralyzes you from doing and being free , and so I mean , I guess the reason that I wanted to talk about this is because I feel like fear is holding people in an invisible prison and that God wants us to break people out of the prison of fear .

I feel like you used to be more of a fearful person and you have a fearful background , but you've broken free from the prison of fear . I have seen you , and I think you said this just a minute ago .

Speaker 2

Look it in the face .

Speaker 1

You've got to face your fears .

Speaker 2

Yeah .

Speaker 1

You have to put fear underneath your feet , and so I remember you doing it with the piece about heights . Years ago , when we first went to I don't know , was it Mexico and you climbed that it was Cancun .

Speaker 2

Yes , yes , I climbed the rock wall . I couldn't sit on the beach because the rock wall was screaming at me .

Speaker 1

Okay , so let me , let me let's talk about that for a second . So there's a rock wall and the rock wall is like don't come climb me .

Speaker 2

You know you're going to die if you don't climb me . Yeah , I'm telling you .

Speaker 1

And so there's some things in your life . You know you're supposed to start a business . Don't you start that business . You know I'm going to bankrupt . You know you're in a relationship . Don't you better not get married ? You know he got a commitment issue . You're going to end up divorced , just like your mom .

That's what I've seen you do , I saw you face your fears and just because the wall was speaking , you didn't like the wall . You didn't want to climb the wall . You don't feel like you need to do it again , but you needed to face that fear just to put your fear underneath your feet .

Speaker 2

And it was for me , and what it allowed me to do was sometimes we get these emotions like fear and we just push it down and we want to ignore it and leave it alone . Leave it alone .

No , I had to face my fear , like , okay , this is what I feel , like , this is what I'm hearing right now , like don't climb this wall because you're going to fall down and die . But this is what the word says I can do all things through Christ , who strengthens me . Angels will bear me up in my hands unless . I dash my foot against the stone .

Okay , so that's what the word says . So what am I going to do with ? Fear says , or what faith says , what the word says . And so I chose that day to get up there . I went up to the hotel room , I took off my flip-flops , I bought my , I put on a pair of sneakers and I climbed the wall , rang the bell , I think .

Speaker 1

I broke a record for the fastest a person could climb the wall , and here's what it allowed me to do , babe .

Speaker 2

This is , this is what it allowed me to process that with my thing with heights . Now I no longer say I have a fear of heights because I don't . If I was afraid I wouldn't have climbed the wall . If I was afraid I wouldn't have went up and dropped 200 feet . You know that's not fear , because I didn't act on it .

But now I don't like heights , I don't like to be up high . I don't like the feeling that it has , I don't like it . I'm not afraid of fear , but by faith , and we cannot like some things because we don't like it , and that's okay .

Speaker 1

Oh , that's so good , that's so good .

Speaker 2

I love that .

Speaker 1

I mean . I probably have a lot of stories like that because I've just watched you over 25 years of marriage . Remember the piece . For those of you all who are new to our show , tabitha's dad passed away when she was six years old . He was a Golden Gloves boxer and he had a brain aneurysm . Excuse , me . That went down the wrong way .

That doesn't do anything . I don't know , I'm not a kid .

Speaker 2

You hate it , you hate it , we're like what is that going to do ? I'm like a one-year-old that needs a birth . Well , you know , you do . You have to get it . She would just keep going If you were choking , you could . You're right . You're right and I'm wrong .

Speaker 1

So anyway , what was I saying before you start patting me ? We're talking about my dad died when I was six , okay , and so he died of a brain aneurysm after a fight one night .

And so she always and you can tell the story better than I can , but let me kind of get you going had a little fear of men leaving her life or people that she loved leaving her life . Her grandma died when she was 12 years old , and so in the first couple of years of our marriage I always would have a toothpick in my mouth .

I would just always have a toothpick , and she would have this fear that I was going to choke on the toothpick and not come home . Can you take it from right there ?

Speaker 2

Oh , my goodness , it wasn't . It was the fact that my dad went to work one day and he never came back home . And so , as a young white , we maybe been married for maybe five years at this point and you were leaving to go to work and I packed your lunch and I put a tooth .

I made like a nice sandwich , like with the olive on top , and I put a toothpick in there . And the struggle was don't put the toothpick in there because he might choke . And I was just like , oh my gosh , I had a moment .

Like you know , I'm sitting there for five minutes looking at a sandwich , figuring out , trying to think should I put a toothpick in here , because I want my husband to choke and die ? I want him to come home . So in that moment I had to figure out if this is a fear that you have to face this fear , tabitha .

And so finally , I just stuck the toothpick in there and wrapped it all up and sat it there . And then it was so funny because you were still upstairs and you didn't leave yet , but there was an island , and so I just started marching around the island and I took a toothpick and I said no fear here , no fear .

But it was like I was like no fear here , no fear . But it was like I was like no fear here , no fear . And I marched around that thing until I felt brave enough to be like , okay , I cast that to the Lord and I'm done . But that's like you have to . When fear steps to you , you have to step back .

Speaker 1

I mean , do whatever you have to do , but I mean you know we sing songs like there's power in the name of .

Speaker 2

Jesus .

Speaker 1

But it's so true and the reality is that there is power , and there's two Greek words for the word power is dunamis , which is miracle working power , and also exousia , which is authority , and when you have the Holy Spirit , you actually have both you have miracle working power and you also have authority .

And I think many times people don't know , when they're born again , how to use that authority . So when you say no fear here you're taking authority over the atmosphere and you're commanding fear to bow to the name of Jesus , no fear here , and I just believe there's somebody who's watching that you need to . Whatever fear is in your life .

It might not be a toothpick , but it's the fear of failure , the fear of success , the fear of being hurt again . You have to pick up some no fear here . No fear here , and there's an authority that you must exercise because the devil don't play fair . He'll just keep telling you he's just a bully . And if you back down .

He'll just keep backing you down until you'll be down , and so I remember we moved in and this was later on in our walk .

I mean , we were pretty solid Christians and we bought a new home over in Ackerkeek , maryland , and when we bought it it was a model home and so people had been in and out of the house and everything but the model home didn't have window treatments .

There was no blinds , there was no curtains , and so when we first moved into the house , people could see in the house we had no blinds , no curtains .

Speaker 2

We got all of the other . There were blinds everywhere , but there's this one with the sun room that had windows all around and they were customized . We had to get them custom made and it wasn't going to come in for a couple of weeks . So just one room had no windows .

Speaker 1

But listen , this was like right by the family room and this is like the whole backside of the house . This was a huge house . This is back in the day before we were pastors .

Speaker 2

Yes and it was all these windows , this sunroom was everywhere With woods in the back and there was woods in the back Into the woods and I remember the first night or two in that house , nice house .

Speaker 1

I felt like the boogeyman was back there . I would walk past these windows and it was like I could just hear fear saying you don't know , who's back here . You better get out of this house , boy . Just some old straight up . Friday the 13th Freddy Cougar , Children of the Corn stuff that I never watched , Thank God for my mom and dad .

Speaker 2

I watched it all . That's okay . Thank God for my mom and dad . Oh , my goodness .

Speaker 1

And my kids would be able to say that too , that I've never watched that bunch of fear . But anyway , but I know enough about it . That's what I was hearing . And so you have a choice I'm either going to be bullied in my new house and not have sleep , or I'm going to get up out of the bed . And what did I do ?

I went and I grabbed my wife's hand and I went to the front door , opened up the door and I said , in the name of Jesus , I kicked my leg like that and I said fear , you got to get up out of here .

And I took my wife's hand and we walked around all of the boundary of our property and say everywhere the foot of our heel treads , he's given it to us as our land . No weapon formed against us shall prosper . Even though I walked through the valley of the shadow of death , I fear no evil .

And we walked to the back of my house , where the woods was , and I said , in the name of Jesus , woods shut up , there's a new sheriff in town . And we declared the peace of God is back here Come on . What was I doing ? I was talking to the spirit of fear and I was commanding it to leave and I was taking authority over my domain .

And I went back in the house . We later , two and a half years . I never heard anything else . It was nothing but the shalom and the peace of God . I guess the moral of that story is that you have to exercise your God-given authority in the name of Jesus to put fear underneath your feet and keep it there .

Speaker 2

And that's why I like you , babe . That's why I like you because you're radical but you're crazy enough to believe the word of God . Think about them marching around the walls of Jericho , like thinking about Elisha's , you know , smiting the water and saying where is the God of . Elisha , I mean you better .

Speaker 1

If you want to believe the word , believe the word do the word Out of my mind and I've received the mind of Christ .

Speaker 2

I am not here to play games you know , and I think you know , sometimes the voice of fear , which is the enemy , will speak to us and show us , throw us pictures into , like the spirit realm . You know , there's another realm . There's a spirit realm . There are angels all around us right now that we cannot see .

There's good and evil all around us that we cannot see , and the enemy will throw us thoughts and they will show us evil things and bad things . You know that . You know that exist in the world , but faith is much more powerful . Faith can do the same thing , but we , as believers , have to choose to open up our eyes .

Like Elisha said Lord , open up his eyes so he can see . We have to ask God open up my eyes so that I can see . And when you read the word , there's a level of removing the blindfolds and you open your eyes and you can now begin to see the word of God that's all around you .

And what you did is you went out into there and the enemy was saying , oh , there's this over here and there's evil , the boogeyman's , over here . No , you open up your eyes of faith .

Speaker 1

But remember that time that you were in bed and you just kept hearing noises from under the bed and you were a new believer .

Speaker 2

You were brand new . I didn't know what was going on . I think you were still dealing with depression . Yes , I was still depressed .

Speaker 1

What did you do ?

Speaker 2

You got out of that bed , got out of the bed and looked under that bed and said in the name of .

Speaker 1

Jesus , I command you to go . I don't even know . I just said Jesus , I didn't know what else to do . Use the name of Jesus .

Speaker 2

It is not just the song that we sing .

Speaker 1

There's power in the name of Jesus there might not be power in Ken and Tabitha's name and Pam and Sue and Bob and Malik , but there is power in the name of Jesus . I dare you to use that name , and so you know fear is a factor in so many people's lives .

Because they fill themselves with fear , they watch fearful movies , they hang out with other people who are filled with fear , they put themselves in atmospheres . And so one of the things you have to do to overcome fear is start to feed yourself with faith .

Speaker 2

You have to feed your faith , the word of God .

Speaker 1

You've got to believe what he says more than what the devil is saying . You have to fill yourself up and I think that's what we've done To be able to overcome fear is that we fill ourselves so much up with faith . So it's not that I don't have fear . I mean , I sense it even today , Like we're doing multiple million-dollar projects all at the same time .

Oh , what if people leave the church ? What if people stop giving ? What if the election ? What if they take away this benefit ? What if this doesn't happen ? What if the economy sucks ? But , what if it doesn't ? What if we go up from here ? What if we sow in the land and , in the same year , get a hundredfold return ?

What if God be for us , then who can be against us ? What if he's increasing me more and more , me and my children ? I got to replace all of those things with what he said to me , no matter what the experience has been or no matter what my emotions feel like . Wow .

Speaker 2

You know a lot of us , I think . We all feel fear , we all have , let's say , the temptation of fear , but it's our choice whether we're going to take it or not . Come on . It's our choice whether we're going to walk in fear or not .

Speaker 1

Yeah , I think that's good because I want people to hear that this ain't no perfect thing . It's not like we beat fear 20 years ago . No , this is a thing like yesterday kind of had to kick its butt .

Tomorrow probably have to kick its butt , go to another level , going to be another devil of fear Going to tell me how I'm going to fail and mess up and everything Got to kick its butt again .

Speaker 2

I love what you said , though , about guarding yourself . You said something about we fill ourselves up with faith and not with fear .

What's coming out of you has a lot to do with what's coming , what you're putting in , and so you know , when I was fighting cancer , one of the only things I could do is sit down and watch TV , just to cause , you know , I just needed to rest , but I would want to watch like something funny on TV , or we would .

I found joy in watching the game playoff season . We're watching the game , but the commercials , y'all the commercials . I had to be self-aware of my season and still today , Still today . Self-aware of when these commercials come on . I can't listen to all of these commercials like , oh , for metastatic breast cancer and I mean , oh my gosh , take this .

And for all of these different diseases and things . It just seemed like I couldn't listen to those commercials because I was fighting for my life in the moment . I only needed to hear . If it's not good , don't tell me . I don't want to hear about your medication . Thank God for medications .

You know like , thank God , some people are taking these medications and it's blessing them . But it's not what I need to hear right now . I don't need to hear about that stuff . So I had to shut it down because when I'm sleeping at night , those commercials start playing in my mind .

Speaker 1

They start rolling . I thought you was going to go another way with the commercials piece , because even when horror commercials come on and they're advertising some horror flick that's about to come on , I don't need that in my imagination . I'm turning it right now . It ain't even for the kids , it's for me .

We can be sitting in our bed and I'm watching the game , I will get the . I don't even want to hear it because that is a seed from the demonic realm trying to be sewed into my ear , to get into my heart . Gate Push , pause , fast forward up .

Speaker 2

I'll come back when the game's back on , and so we don't just let the TV flow . We have the remote mirror , nobody comes into my house .

Speaker 1

I am the sheriff of that place and the Bible says this about fear in 2 Timothy 1.7 . It says for God has not given us the spirit of fear , but of power , of love and of sound mind . So fear is a spirit . I think that there's a natural fear .

There's some fears and concerns we have and some of it's natural and it's emotional , but then there's a spirit of fear and God has not given us a spirit of fear , but power , love and sound mind . So those things come from God . We can accept those . The spirit of fear does not come from God . It must be identified and rejected .

Speaker 2

Yes , absolutely , and I think we have to learn to distinguish and God will help us between fear and the spirit of fear . Yeah , yeah .

Speaker 1

First John 4 , 18, . It says there's no fear in love , but perfect love cast out fear , because fear involves torment . But he who fears is not made perfect in love .

So for me , what that means is that the reason that I'm fearing is because I don't know how much he loves me , because when I know how much he loves me , I have nothing to be in fear of Okay . That means that God loves me too much to let me go bankrupt . God loves me too much to let me die early . God loves me too much for this .

Now let me add the balance there . That doesn't mean that we haven't had our bouts with cancer . It doesn't mean that it hasn't been painful things that have happened to us or people who have died before their time .

But what that means to me is that God loves me so much that he can even take the bad things and the things that I don't understand , but still work it out for my good . So at the end of the day , I'm not going to fear because I know he loves me and his plan is better than my plan .

His thoughts are higher than my thoughts and , at the end of the day , no matter what I go through , daddy , I trust you . You love me and I love you it .

Speaker 2

Just it takes the out of fear it really does , and if God who loves me if you're having trouble making that connection with God and knowing how much he loves you and hopefully you know you've had a good , you know mom and dad , or even if you haven't had a good mom or dad , like I , am a parent and I know how much I love my kids .

And when I think about how much my kids especially when they're older you think about toddlers and babies . They trust you Right With all of their heart . You know the Bible talks about having childlike faith .

Speaker 1

Yeah .

Speaker 2

That faith that ? Oh , mommy , I don't feel good right now , but I just want to curl up in the hands . Mommy's going to take care of it . She's going to give me chicken noodle soup . She's going to take care of the fever . She's going to take me to the . She's going to pray for me . You know I need some new shoes .

Mommy's going to take me to get new shoes . They have no cares and no worries . Even if they do get afraid , they run to trust and have faith and to love and receive the love from our Father . How much more will he provide for us and take care of us ?

Speaker 1

I mean that's so good what you're saying , but I got to tell you I feel like I'm getting a whole revelation Because we're growing in our calling and we're growing in who God's called us to be , as everybody is . But I just feel like God is showing me a call for us to help people know how to win in warfare .

When I look at over the things that we've been through from overcoming depression and possible lupus and Lyme disease and cancer and a divorce and abortion and guilt and condemnation and addiction and he's brought us out with victory , and I think one of the things that our anointing is is to help other people get through the battle and walk in victory , to put

sickness addictions underneath their feet , depression under their feet . There's just something that God has given us about how to help people in warfare you know I love so many churches , denominations and teachings .

I don't know if I'm hearing a lot about the authority of the believer , like we used to hear it a lot 20 years ago , and about what it means to use the full armor of God and the sword of the Spirit , what it means to win in battle and to cast out devils and to believe for miracle signs and wonders .

It just feels like there's a great grace on us , and I'm just sitting here just realizing it . Like God used this platform to help equip whoever's watching around the world not to give in to the lying spirit of fear , but to chop them up with the sword of the spirit , which is the word of God , I feel like indignation almost .

You know the word in Psalms 23 and 4 , it says yea , there I'll walk through the valley of the shadow of death . I fear no evil , for you are with me your rod and your staff it comforts me , and I love it , that the scripture states that the psalmist feared no evil .

That means that we can have a justifiable expectation to live a life where we don't have to fear evil . We don't have to fear death , destruction , mayhem and dying early and stuff like that . I cannot tell you why certain things happen to certain people . All I can say is , for me and my house , this is what God has promised me and this is what we believe .

If forever I go through a season where it falls short and God promised me that , but I get this I'm okay with saying man , I don't understand it , but God I still trust you , but I'm not going to bring his word down to my emotions or his word down to my friend's experience , or my grandma's experience or my experience .

Listen , the word of God is forever settled in heaven . It's forever settled in me , that's what it ? Means to walk by faith and there's an authority on that . It's not a cockiness , it's just a knowing that what he said is yes and amen . He watches over his word to perform it . He's not a man that should lie or the son of man that would need to repent .

Speaker 2

If he's spoken it .

Speaker 1

you can take it to the bank and I think right now , because we're in an information age , the enemy is working on our intellect . Well , what ?

Speaker 2

about this and what about this ?

Speaker 1

There's nothing new under the sun . Shut up , devil .

Speaker 2

What God said is yes and amen Absolutely .

Speaker 1

Romans 8.38 says For I'm persuaded that neither death nor life , nor angels nor principalities nor powers , nor things present , nor things to come , nor height , nor death , nor other things created shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus , and it's something about that love being poured in our heart that drives out fear .

There's all kinds of fears people have . I mean what comes to your mind ?

Speaker 2

Fear of , Fear of death , fear of rejection , fear of people approval those common fears , like fear of public speaking .

Speaker 1

I think for women who are with baby , there can be a fear of miscarriage . There can be a fear of the delivery . There can be a fear of am I going to be a good enough mom For the businessman . It's a fear of investing . It's a fear of hiring . It's a fear of after you have to let somebody go .

I'd rather just do this by myself than have to go through all of that again . There's a fear of hiring . It's a fear of after you have to let somebody go . I'd rather just do this by myself than have to go through all of that again . There's a fear of hiring again . There's a fear of will the market change for the person in political office .

There's a fear of will I be beat by the candidate ? There's a fear of them smearing my name . There's a fear of taking what I've done for my city or my community and throwing mud on it . I community and throwing mud on it . I think for the person about to get married there's a fear of is this person really who they say they are ?

Are they going to switch up on me ? Like ? The divorce rate is at 50% . Nobody's blind to that . We see what's happening . What side of that percentage am I on ? There's all kinds of fears here , and then there's this little fear . There's this fear of the bugs and the fear of this or fear of a heart attack .

Speaker 2

Listen , I won't tolerate any of it , of the bugs and the fear of the , of this or fear of a heart attack listen , I won't tolerate any of it . Yeah , I don't tolerate the fear of bugs , the spiders . I don't like them . Like I don't like them , yeah , but I ain't about to be afraid of them .

Speaker 1

I'm not waiting for you to come home , I'm gonna get the shoe and kill it myself , but if I gotta get the shovel and take the head off the snake , absolutely we're gonna do it and I teach that to our kids .

Speaker 2

But you know I'm the first time charityity saw it . We live in Florida , so there's snakes . Well , first time Charity saw a snake , she was maybe like seven years old . This girl went off , started screaming , crying . I said who told ? you to be afraid of that snake . I don't know where she got it from . Yeah , who told you that ?

Somebody told you that it was okay to be afraid Because the other kids they're not . I mean they don't like them again . They , I mean they don't like them again . Like they don't like them , but they ain't about to run away crying , that's crazy , yeah , yeah .

Speaker 1

Who told you that's like water ? Who told you to be afraid ?

Speaker 2

of water .

Speaker 1

Exactly . Where did that ?

Speaker 2

fear come from .

Speaker 1

I understand that we're born in sin and shaped in iniquity , so many of us have fears from the womb .

Speaker 2

But we have to examine that question , so I'm not saying things to make them afraid .

Speaker 1

Some fears you do have to be taught but really we tackled all that between the ages of one and seven . No fear here , all of our kids , no fear .

Speaker 2

Absolutely . We have this thing in Florida . We call them love bugs , but they're these little . Two times a year they come out , these little black bugs , and they they swarm there . They look like lightning bugs If you know what a lightning bug is but they're . They're two blood .

They're called love bugs because they're connected together and they're just all these little . They're mating , I mean just all out in the open and everything everywhere . And each one of my children would be terrified of these lug bugs when they first saw them , like , oh my gosh , they start crying .

But with every child I would go oh , it's okay , honey , I'd catch the bug , I'd put it in my hand , I'd bring it over and I'd say , ha ha , it tickles and we would touch the bug's wing . We killed the poor bugs playing with it . But it took five seconds .

Now they go out , they run , they catch the bugs , they look , mommy , I got a love bug , I mean it's , we don't know how we even got to this conversation it was about .

The fear was that I was going to die and what you know , I was leaving everybody behind , everyone was going to move on without me , like it was just the fear of death , like what's going to happen , and I didn't realize it because I'd never been faced with something .

So you know , terminal or so like oh my gosh , you know , this is life threatening would be the thing , and so I had to not run from that but look at face to face and be like , okay , why am I afraid to die ? What would happen if I do die ?

And that's something that is not comfortable , especially if you have cancer and you don't have hair on your head and you're going to chemotherapy and you feel terrible , like that's not an easy conversation to have , but I had that conversation with myself and with God and I began to talk to God . Some of the things that I did also was I would begin to .

I heard about other people and their near death experiences and other people who died , went to heaven , came back . Other people who had these experiences and their experiences are so like they describe heaven . They describe how they saw some of their loved ones . They describe what it was like to be in the presence of like Jesus .

They described what it was like to just like ascend and be out of their potty but to begin to see God . Some people had conversations with Jesus and they had decisions to make , like you know one particular testimony . They had the choice can I , you know , do you want to go back or do you want to stay here ? And they were all like one testimony .

He's here . He had to come back for an assignment , to finish his assignment , but he begged Jesus to stay . He wanted to stay in heaven because it was so good , but he's here on the earth and talking about . He had a big bout with depression because he didn't want to be here . I want to be where Jesus is .

Speaker 1

It was so beautiful . It was so beautiful . He didn't want to come back , so beautiful .

Speaker 2

But then there were some people who you know they had the choice and they came back and they came . It was a bad car accident One guy and he came back and he lived through the accident because he had young kids and he wanted to come back and do things .

But it just opened up my world to this perspective that sometimes , even like I know people who I love and who are saints and they died and went home to be with the Lord , but we were praying for them to come you know , to stay here and the Lord . But we were praying for them to come you know to stay here , and the Lord .

It was just like this thought like , oh , my gosh , lord , what if there is ? What if we do have a choice of whether we stay or come back ? I know that there are saints . If they go up and they're going , you know they've been fighting on earth , you know like and living , but they get to heaven and they have a choice whether to stay or go .

Some of them are some of our loved ones . They're like oh , I'm staying here with you , jesus , I'm not going back . But we could be in the earth crying and mourning their death , like , oh , they died before their age and we're blaming God because you know they died earlier when they .

But they chose to stay with Jesus because it's better where they are than where we are . So , anyway , I just researched it myself and I talked to God and I got a good understanding about life and death . That it's not , you know , like if I did leave Earl , if I did , it's still going to be okay .

God is going to take care of my family and the earth and I would be in a better place in heaven .

Speaker 1

You know , the Lord spoke to me and this was like a month or two ago . I haven't told you yet but I felt like he said that you would outlive me .

Speaker 2

That's what I .

Speaker 1

my faith is that I will outlive you and I don't know , I told you this before and I don't plan on going nowhere , nowhere , no time soon .

Speaker 2

No , you're going to be baby . I'm going to be making sandwiches for you for a long time .

Speaker 1

But I think that's very if you really listen to it . I know that we're on the air right now and it's a very personal thing for me to share . I felt like he was saying you would outlive me .

Speaker 2

Like he would he's .

Speaker 1

He's going to honor his word to you and your faithfulness and you know you've had fear of if I would be you would be around with cancer , would I have to get married again and all these different things . But I feel like he's going to grant you that to where you'll outlive me , and so I don't know why I didn't tell you that before , didn't ?

Speaker 2

tell you that before I don't know why . This is what I . My private time with the Lord is that and I've . This is for years , before anything ever happened with cancer . My service to you , like as your help me . My prayer is like Lord , I want to serve him all the days of his life . I want to be here with him till the day he dies .

I want to be by his side serving him . I don't want you to live in the earth without your help . I'm here to serve you . I want to make your life great and that's why I'm here .

Speaker 1

So that's an answered prayer . I appreciate you , I appreciate the Lord and I just don't know why , but as you were talking , it just came to my mind .

Speaker 2

That makes me happy .

Speaker 1

I was just like oh , this might be a good time for me to say that . So yeah , I think what we're talking about today is having a biblical perspective of death , and I think many people look at death as an expiration or an ending , but it's actually the beginning , and I'm not saying that it doesn't hurt . I have loved ones .

I've had two of my best friends over the last couple of years that have went home to be with the Lord . They were both saved and it hurts . I remember them . I wanted them to be at my 25th anniversary of our renewal . They were both from my wedding back then . They're not with us any longer and that hurts .

Speaker 2

You've had a brother that's passed by suicide and we've had relatives that are not with us anymore . He was in our wedding , he was the ring bearer , he was in our wedding years ago .

Speaker 1

He's probably 13 back then , so it had been what 28 , 29 , 30 now . And so the emotion is is that I'm going to miss you and I wish that you were here . But the revelation is that , if you're saved , to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord , and the scripture says that we don't grieve like those who have no hope .

And if you don't have Jesus , you don't have hope . Think about it . If you believe we evolved from tadpoles and monkeys or that we came back as karma and we might come back in the next life as a frog or a tree or something like that , that's a sad belief . You don't have any hope . You don't have any hope . What is life really about ?

But for those who believe in Jesus and you've put your trust in him , you know that this is just . We're just sojourners in this .

Speaker 2

We're just passing through .

Speaker 1

This is nothing but a moment and a twinkling of an eye . This is nothing but just a small , small season . Sometimes we see people die and we have such a hard time dealing with death because we were never created to die and that's why human beings have a hard time dealing with it . Because God never made us to die .

So when he originally made Adam and Eve , they were supposed to live forever because they would know no sin . They were supposed to tend Eden and extend Eden and live in paradise here in the earth . But God gave man a choice and basically there was a tree , the tree of knowledge of good and evil . He says don't eat it or you're going to die .

And they use their free will to disobey God . Sin comes in . The next thing God does is amazing . He basically moves Adam and Eve out of the garden . Why ? So that they wouldn't eat from the tree of life and forever be eternally separated from God . What does that mean ? He moved them out to where they would die as a gift .

Yes , so death is not a punishment , it's actually a gift , meaning that I don't want you to live in these sinful bodies all the days of your life for eternity . So I'm going to allow your body to pass so that I can give you , in the New Jerusalem , a resurrected body and a new body .

So the truth is biblically is that when a believer dies , we don't actually stop existing . We transition , we actually promote from the natural realm into the spiritual realm and for those of us who are behind , we feel really bad about it .

We're like oh my God so-and-so and all of the memories , but my friends that I'm thinking of and my loved ones they are actually like yo . This is great , why Revelation says that there will be no more sorrow , he will wipe every tear from our eyes and that we get to be in the presence of God and listen .

Eye has not seen and ear hasn't heard the things that God has planned . Jesus said listen , it's better than I go .

Speaker 2

I'm going to prepare for you a mansion , because in his father's house there's many mansions .

Speaker 1

I'm going to go prepare a place for you . And I love the Bible because the Bible is a handy little book . And and I love the Bible because the Bible is a handy little book and it don't tell us everything that heaven's going to be . He just says it's going to be better than where you are .

Trust me in this and I know God enough to know that if this , when we have like heaven and then a new Jerusalem , and it's going to be a renewed city and a renewed earth and everything's renewed man , it's going to be good to reconnect with family members and we'll see your dad there , your grandma , we'll see different people that are there , and so I had a

couple of scriptures , but I think we hit it so much In John 11 , Lazarus dies and they're upset . Martha Mary's like he comes up to him and he's like I'm the resurrection of life . Who believes in me , Though we die , he's going to live , and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die . Do you believe this ?

That means that when you believe in Jesus , you don't die , you transition . That's crazy . I love to preach this at a funeral . I just preached it at my friend's funeral . Going home I was like Mike didn't die , he transitioned and he's in a better place . That's a revelation .

Speaker 2

So good .

Speaker 1

John 3 , 16 says for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whoever believes in him would not perish but have everlasting life . And everlasting life , or eternal life , doesn't stop . Those doesn't start when you die . It starts when you accept .

Speaker 2

Jesus .

Speaker 1

And so we are living in eternal life right now . Our body will have to transition from the dust that came to the dust . It's going to return , but a biblical worldview of death . It's like death when is your sting ? It takes away the dust . It's going to return , but a biblical worldview of death it's like death wears your sting . It takes away the sting .

1 Thessalonians 4 and 13, . It says but I don't want you to be ignorant , brethren , concerning those who have fallen asleep , lest you sorrow as others who have no hope .

Speaker 2

We don't grieve like the other people that don't know Jesus .

Speaker 1

We know something greater than what they know . 2 Corinthians 5 and 6, . Paul says it this way he says so . We are always confident , knowing that while we're at home in the body , we are absent from the Lord , for we walk by faith and not by sight . We are confident , yes , well-pleased , rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord .

Paul says in Philippians 1.21 that for me to live is Christ but to die is gain . That's crazy . What a revelation the apostle Paul had to say for me , to die is gain . I would rather die so that I could be with Jesus , but to live , that's unto Christ . And he says and for your sake , I'm going to live .

So where I am right now is like I would rather die to be with Jesus , but for the sake of you and our kids , and our church and the two million people that we want to reach over the next 20 years and the assignment , and the assignment that is on my life . I have work to do , and everyone who is watching this .

You have work to do , and it's not just the work for your job , that's right . It's not just your investment portfolio . We have to depopulate hell and populate heaven , and so I am here , because Christ has me here .

And so the proper perspective would just be like Paul , it'd be better that we all could go home and live in the lap of luxury and let people on the earth deal with their own sin while I get up out of here . But , not for us , because we are people with purpose and for purpose . I'm not here by an accident , but I'm not afraid of death any longer .

Speaker 2

Yes , not afraid of death .

Speaker 1

Not afraid of death . Not afraid of death .

Speaker 2

That's so good .

Speaker 1

Not afraid of death .

Speaker 2

You know I'm thinking about our children as we talk . You know , as you're talking about this like , this is something that you know . We have to teach our children to think of death in a different way . Think of it biblically . It's not the end . It's not the end .

Speaker 1

Yeah . But it also gives us an oomph to get folks saved , because if people aren't saved , it is , it's the beginning of an ending that nobody should want to be eternally separated from God and in that place will be wailing and weeping and gnashing of teeth . Because God doesn't send people to hell .

But he gives us a will and if we reject Jesus , he allows us to go to the one place where God is not . So God is healing , god is peace , god is joy , god is love . So if you say I don't want Jesus , he says okay , if that's your choice , I'll send you to the one place , jesus is not .

So on Jesus , he says okay , if that's your choice , I'll send you to the one place Jesus is not . So . Hell is the absence of all of the attributes of God . It is dark because God is light . It is painful because God is pleasurable , and so everything that God is not people send themselves to a devil's hell . People was never supposed to go to hell .

So what that means is that we got a lot of work to do , and for those of you all who are watching , that's why we ask for you to share this podcast , because this is just a lifeline into some people .

There are people who have relationship issues , simply because God is wanting you to find him in all of the issues , and if you found this podcast , we believe it's a divine connection .

We pray and say God , help the people around the world who need this podcast , find this podcast , and we believe that part of the reason that you found this podcast is really for you to find Jesus , and make no mistake about it . Jesus was not just the man , he was all God and all man .

He was actually , in the Bible , called Emmanuel , which means God with us , and so Jesus in Colossians is the full image of God . He is the expressed image of God In the beginning , was the word who was Jesus ? And the word was with God and the word was God . And is the expressed image of God In the beginning , was the Word who was Jesus ?

And the Word was with God and the Word was God . And so , make no mistake about it , jesus was God .

God put aside his divinity , paid the price for our sin , and now he does not make you be saved , but he actually gives you an opportunity to surrender and choose him , and so you don't have to be perfect to be saved , but you do have to surrender , and I just believe that there's someone who's watching and listening around the world that you're like .

You know what I want to make jesus the lord of my life . I want to put my trust in him . The best way that you could overcome fear is to start with faith . Yes and so you don't have to be perfect to be a forgiven person , but you do have to call on jesus .

So , wherever you are , if you want to pray the prayer of salvation , this will say hey , I'm giving my heart to Jesus , I'm turning away from my sin , I'm putting my faith in him . Pray this five-second prayer with us . It will change your eternal address . If you're in a place where you can bow your head , you can go ahead and do it .

If not , just say this with me Say , lord Jesus , come into my heart today , forgive me of my sins . On today , I decide to surrender my life to you . Say , lord Jesus , I believe that you died on a sin , on a cross , to pay the price for my sin , and on today , I accept you as my Lord and my Savior . I am saved In Jesus' name , amen .

If you prayed that prayer , we believe that you got born again , and that term simply means born from above . That means that you're seated in high places with Christ Jesus . You're in him and he's also in you . This is not the end . This is a beginning . Find a good church that you can grow in . Spend time reading the Bible every day .

Get around some godly people and grow in your faith , and we're going to be growing all the way till we get to heaven . But we would say this to you it's time to walk by faith and not by fear . And so , those of you all who've been dealing with fear , if you don't mind , let's just take a moment just to renounce the spirit of fear .

We just want you to open up your mouth and say fear , I renounce you . I want you to open up your mouth and say no fear here . Say it with me . No fear here . One more time , say it . No fear here , here , one more time , say it no fear here . So , in the name of Jesus , the Christ , we command fear of failure go . Fear of being loved go .

Fear of hurt go . Fear of death , go Whatever spirit of fear has been tormenting you , even in your sleep . We declare sweet sleep over you , in the name of Jesus , that the peace of God , from this day forth , guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus .

We pray that you will not put down your sword of the Spirit , but you will pick up your sword and you'll begin to yield it , or wield it in the right way to cut the devil coming and going . And we declare that every generational curse of fear that has plagued your life from this day forward is broken over you .

Speaker 2

And where the Spirit of the Lord is , there is also liberty , absolutely and I just hear this by the Spirit of the Lord . There are some of you who prayed the prayer of salvation for the first time and you just got born again .

At that moment that you confessed Jesus as Lord , love entered your heart , the Spirit of love , and we know that the Spirit of love casts out fear , and so I believe that some of you will have the testimony that when I confess Jesus as Lord , that spirit of fear stopped tormenting me . You've been getting nightmares and dreams .

It has been paralyzing you and that fear from that you won't have a nightmare tonight and I want to hear your testimony , write us in and say that that was me . I believe God is blessing you .

Speaker 1
