I remember in Middle School (year 7-8) at the dances, the slow songs were the best and worst. Best because you get to dance with a girl (yay)! Worst because you had to ASK the girl to dance and possibly face rejection. Heavy stuff for an adolescent teen. However, the slow jams themselves were always good and stuck with me even today. Aw the New Jack Swing! Teddy Riley's stamp on R&B music that took America and the world by storm! I was only in my early teens but my older cousins were all about it. The style, the dancing, the music. It was my favorite time of R&B music. "Danceable R&B" as I like to call it. Also, R&B groups (not boy bands) were prevalent and drop crazy ballads that still ring true today. I think I am gonna have to make a "New jack Swing" slow jam mix next time. Enjoy!
