S6E12: Juneteenth: A Celebration of Blackness
Jun 19, 2020•26 min
Episode description
We are the dreams and the hopes of our ancestors. On this day let us take time to reflect on one of the biggest lessons our ancestors could have ever imparted: finding joy. For centuries Black folx have experienced cruelties that are beyond what any human should ever have to endure. However, we have always found ways to celebrate us. In this episode, Terri and Dom explore the meaning of Juneteenth and ways in which we can continue uplift ourselves. Quote of the Day: "Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave, I am the dream and the hope of the slave. I rise. I rise. I rise." -Maya Angelou Takeaways: Links to resources mentioned in today’s episode: https://www.apartmenttherapy.com/shop-black-owned-businesses-36759922 https://www.refinery29.com/en-us/black-owned-beauty-companies-to-shop https://www.juneteenth.com/history.htm https://thehoneypot.co/ https://aalbc.com/bookstores/list.php TalkBack Tuesday with Dr. Dom Wisdom Wednesdays with Terri H.E.R Space Sanctuary Resources: Melanin and Mental Health Therapy for Black Girls Psychology Today Therapy for QPOC Where to find us: Twitter: @HERspacepodcast Instagram: @herspacepodcast Facebook: @herspacepodcast Website: herspacepodcast.com Email: [email protected] H.E.R Space Sanctuary: https://www.facebook.com/groups/herspacesanctuary/
