Calm Down with Aaron and Carissa is a production of I Heart Radio. We're rolling, We're rolling into the it's the off season. I was gonna say, sister, are you sad about that? Yeah? It's like I said the other day to you guys. You know, I went to bed and I started reading about the special teams coordinator for the Packers. And the only reason why you guys gave me crap for it was because then I it led me to have a dream about Matt la Fleur. Don't read into it, you guys listening to this at home.
But this is what happens. I'm gonna be honest. What happened I watched and this goes into re entry. And this is a topic I want to bring up on today's show. Is what shows everybody's watching because during the football season, I don't watch anything. I can't. I am too obsessed with football. I don't have time to get invested into anything whatever. So now we're starting to pick up on shows. We are back on Yellowstone. We love Yellowstone. It's amazing. What season are you on? The last one?
The current one? Okay, we currently have three more shows off to go. It's stressful. It's like this is us. It's very stressful. It affects your sleep. I can't separate it. I have heart issues, I have chest pains. I think about things. I'm like, God, there's a lot of violence. So I went to bed and I started reading about you know, the Packers hiring a new special teams coach. Now we're going all in on Rogers, blah blah blah.
I can't shut it off. Like I know you're like, oh, football is over, but it's not like I mean, I can't stop reading articles the setup hears. We were on a tech chain and Aaron saying that she was reading articles about the adjustments to the offensive line of the Packers, and we're like, what are you doing? Like special teams, special teams, offensive blinds. Fine, all the more reason. I was like, why are you reading the MC Championship special teams at this point in the season, because I love
it because they lost the game. You are dedicated and I appreciate that about you. But then it's set up your dream? Are you willing to here with the dream? I just said, you know, we don't have enough time for that, but no, I just me to have this dream. And I was making you guys laugh about it. But with that said, off season for me, besides reading football before I go to bed, I am starting shows. So we're gonna go Yellowstone, which then everyone says, you have
to go eighteen eighty three? Have you even started Yellowstone? No? Yellowstone? I'm completely caught up with Oh and and well, I can't tell you what do you mean? No? But what was your vibe as at all? I think that's a lot more violent. I don't like the violence like Lloyd. That's upsetting me. I'm upset. I don't And again because I'm terrible names that this even happened to me when I was working at Extra and I'd go to interview people and they're like, that's a major celebrities, Sarah what's
her name? Yeah, exactly, and I would forget names. Who's the cutie that the cowboy that they shipped off to Texas to like get Jimmy? You know Jimmy. I love that storyline where he went off to like become a man and he came back. I don't know how he came back, but I'm where he left off. He's at the six Days Jimmy and and the neck brace and the whole thing. So yeah, so I'm completely caught up, but I haven't started three, and I don't know. I'm apprehensive.
I'm not ready for it. I feel like, is this the organ trail? What are we doing here? Faith Hill. I'm not shout out to mean Carter. She's obsessed. She loves it. I think we have to invest I heard her, Well, let's start it at the same time so we can be aligned with the whole deal. Also, speaking of shout out, this is a left turn and we're not NASCAR, where's
Chris Myers shout at Paige Stafford. Last night, we were at the after party for the Rams winning the Super Bowl and Paige, Matthew's sweet sister was going on and on about how much she loves the podcast. She could care less about the outcome of the super Bowl. Was going on and on, and I was like, you're so sweet for listening. I was like, are we boring you? She's like, not at all. I look forward to it every single week. So anyways, we love her for that support.
So we'll also ask a page just watching three, because I would like to get a group of people together and we can, you know, converse. It's like a book Club, but maybe for shows, is that an option? But I I can't binge and I feel like you're a bit can't. I'm so interested in that. Oh I can sit down and knock them all out, like Emily in Paris or the Anna Show I just watch on Netflix. I forget the name of it, searching for Anna or whatever it is. It's about this con artist. I just not gonna get
in loving episodes in two days. I mean, I don't know if that's pathetic or if that's exciting. It's a Shonda Rhymes show, and I love a Bange watch. Have you done Succession? Completely caught up with Succession? Okay, ye did Billions? I'm I'm um late on the Housewives the song like I'm not got up there. No, I'm not caught up anywhere. And then apparently New Jersey is incredible, like they just started New Jersey, Dolores, We've got to get you on. Is Melissa is um? What's her name?
I think so gorgeous Gorga. Yeah, she's still in the mix. I think so she with the husband? Is she not with the husband? These are questions. I don't know. I feel like her and was his name Joey Jesus again, I'm terrible with names. Um yeah, so I need to get caught up on all of that situation. But yeah, so the off season for us, So what is your I mean, I feel like I know what your off season consists of. You'll travel a little bit, you'll re entry.
We have people curious about how the re entry is going. It's not going well. Well. Yeah, I this past week. You know, for super Bowl, you're in, you're out, You're in the outfit changes, you're going to things, you're speaking all in. Yeah. My currently, my bedroom and my closet are a disaster. My husband is being fantastic about it. But after this, I just ran out and did a business meeting. I just came back to do this. Thanks for allowing me to be late, guys, I apologize. I
didn't apologize to you guys yet. Um yeah, so I after this, I gotta make some moves. So much. So here's a whole other topic. Valentine's Day. This was like the first one we missed. I he literally texted me and ghost babe, I'm sorry, Happy Valentine's Day, And I said, you know what, I'm sorry to This week has just kind of been crazy. I've had family in town, I've been working a lot. He's been so good and shuttling
me around and dealing with it that. Yeah, today I was like, let's not get in a habit of missing holidays, but this one I'm okay with. How about you? With like things like that, I just it's like escapes I love. So I'm not very girly and a lot of things. But Valentine's Day, I really love it. I love love like I don't always get it right, but you know, I love it. And I'm like the eternal optivist with like the happily ever afters, and I just think it's
a sweet thing. Yes it's a Hallmark holiday and whatnot, but I really like it. I have zero plans for Valentine's Day, but I just think it's sweet and I like, you know, the whole vibe behind. And when I was little, I liked getting I picked out my Valentine's Day cards and I would always go to the store and then you know, like they have like the perforated edges and you like rip them out and you trade them in the school and all that kind of stuff. So I
like that. But before I got a valiant, a gallantine for you. Aaron will not ever draw attention to herself, but it is worth mentioning Aaron. We presented her with the Pat Summer All Awards. She was the first ever female recipient of this award. And this award has went to Jim Nance Michael's, Mike Ko, Rich Eysen like incredible, John Madden, incredible, incredible names in the broadcasting sports broadcasting industry. And you were the first female and I was so
I just was so proud as your friend. But just you know, as I said to you when we were at the the award ceremony, your name is your own, but your name is also synonymous with, you know, a female sportscaster, and that is just something that little kids, you know, little girls, when they dress up, they dress up as you for Halloween. And I just I'm really really proud of you, and I would be remissed if I didn't mention for those people that you know, you're
not one to like post it on socialite. Oh look at I'm award winner, but I'm I'm very proud of you. Well, thank you, and you am seed the event and you were fantastic and I appreciate it. The real story behind the whole thing is well, two things. St. Jude was involved with this. You did like a great job, as I mentioned, but we raised a record amount of money at the dinner and counting and I don't know what the fantastic total was, but yeah, but um we had talked about it on our show. I have a huge,
huge fear of public speaking. I start to break out in hives, I lose my breath, I can't speak, my voice cracks, and I even up to the day before, I was literally telling my management team, I can't do this. I don't want to do this. So crazy story, crazy crazy story, which nailed, by the way, so funny, like just left and right. Chris Berman was like, when did the stand up comedy act come into play? I didn't
know that you perform. I was talking to one of my friends that was doing my hair and makeup that day, and she works on a comedian and we were speaking about this comedian and I was saying how I had a hard time with public speaking. She talked to me about this thing called beta blockers, which I had never heard before. Apparently, actors and actresses or maybe comedians of all people, when they have a bit of stage right. They take this thing called the beta blocker. My friend
does it. He bombed a presentation one time for a big company and after and and he wasn't right, and he was like, I'm going to take a beta blocker. Listen, I'm not a doctor. I just heard what my friends tell me. It helps with the sweating, it helps with the nerves. It basically mellows you out and your great. So as I'm sitting there in my hair and makeup, yeah, I don't know. It could be a powder, who knows. So as I'm sitting there hearing this, I was like, why is no one told me about this that I
could take this tonight. I make a call to my people and I'm like, is there any way we could get a beta blocker? They even literally talked into only about giving me a TikTok and saying this is it and seeing cebo effect. Yeah. So I get to the event, I'm like, I didn't even have a roadie on the way there because I just felt so like shaky and my hands are sweating and nuts all of it. We get the eventive, you didn't have a drink on the
way there? No, right, We get to the event. I may or may not have taken something to take the edge off. Dude, all of a sudden, I was I turned into Chelsea Handler. I mean, I have jokes. I am walking the stage. She was fucking funny. You guys
working the audience fully endorsed taking the edge off. I don't know about these beat That's not what I took, um, But yeah, I did take a little little tiny bit of something, and I now have asked my people to send the reel out for you know, improv for the comedy. So funny you guys, and I'm at bosses that were there the Kardashians, like what am I doing? Did you say? Oh, well, never mind, I'm not gonna say that. Um. By the way, the Kardashian situation and this Pete Davidson and Kanye and
now A B's best friends with Kanye? What's going on here? And normally I don't really care about this stuff because again I think it was my time in entertainment. I'm like, who cares? But this is getting feisty. The one thing that about last night was Jarrett pointed out right away, Abe sitting there with this championship rang on, like you
walked away from the team. You know, you could have probably helped them in that NFC championship or whatever divisional But the whole thing is very interesting, and I just feel bad for those kiddos. But the drama is interesting in and of itself. Just the back and forth. And as we all know, social media and taken to social is never a good idea. Don't push send. As Edwards used to always tell me, said, I love him. Where is he is? He still at Arizona Sea And he is?
And I have a funny story about her. Actually, when I was at ESPN, he would always talk about working out really early, and I just loved his energy and it was always like running through the newsroom like rat wired. And he's older than everyone thinks, which blows your mind because he looks chilled, and so I'm like, coach, what are you doing? Like where's this energy coming from? He goes, I'll get up every morning at four thirty and at gold gym at five o'clock. And I was like, great,
I'll go with you. I started going to Golden Gym at five o'clock in the morning with her medwords, just to see what this guy was doing. Me and him in the gym, and I was like on the like treadmill, like running. This guy's zooming around the gym, right, I mean five o'clock in the morning, and this guy is just out of control. Needless to say, that only lasted like a week because I was like this, I can't
do this. But what what are the cast of characters like at a golden gym at five o'clock in the morning. Paint this like, you know, paint the picture. And again, Bristol, Connecticut, so we are getting array, we are getting locals, lifers in Bristol because again, anyone that hasn't been to Bristol, Connecticut. ESPN is like thrown in the middle of this small town in Connecticut and people have lived. Why why what do we do? I know what? And that's just I
know exactly why. Because they don't want you to have a life cheap and you only have to work there and then if you don't have any distractions, you know, they now so much stuff is and guys were not kidding. There's nothing there, nothing like you go there's like three bars that you can go to and a gold's gym. So yeah, you've got the locals and then you've got Tim Hasselback and her ed words. It's like this random array of ESPN employees with people that have lived there
with the whole life. But yeah, so that was short lived. But what a guy her ed words also fun fact Edwards, what a turn we took their Yeah, no, that's fine. Just everyone follow along lives in Carmel. Clint east Wood has like a whole property because Clint Eastwood used to be the mayor and Carmel. For those of you guys that have never been to hogs Breath, it's Clint Eastwood's restaurant in Carmel, Adore Robbowl. We start doing road trips.
That's another thing for our off season. We have a lot of trips on the horizon that you and I have discussed that actually need to come to fruition. We need to go on tour. That's what we need to eat. Yeah, yeah, somebody gets me. How about a credential that I had for the NFC Championship game and from our network and my name was Clarissa. On the credential, I said, very well respected in the industry. But m guys, what else is happening? Oh? I wrote down some random things. So
you and I in the off season. Have are you have where? And a myriad of other businesses and different things that you're constantly busy with. This girl is always busy. You're always doing something, too busy, too busy. But the other day you and I were getting on a call and it reminded me of what a pain in the
ass the dial in numbers are. And I was thinking, you know when somebody sends you the email and it's like the number like whatever, eight hundred eight six six three four, and then they put the dial in code right next to it, so when you push the eight hundred part that it comes up with the code. So that doesn't work. Now we're scrambling for a pen. We're looking for a piece of paper. We don't have it anywhere. Now you're panic game because everyone's already on the meeting,
and I'm always the last one. Even if I try to be early, I end up sucking it up. I'm the worst with technology. Why are we not making the zoom dial ins or whatever easier? It's a thing. Yeah, I mean, I think that's where my mind goes crazy, as it did yesterday at the super Bowl, looking at everybody with their clear purses and wondering why I don't have those in my line yet. But that's what happens
with my mind. Um, how is there not an app where we like submit our zoom information or call in information. It just logs it in our phone in a calendar and then you just press it and it has the passwords all attached to it. I mean, why are we not doing that that bothers me? You know the other thing that bothers me? And this is the way I'm wired.
And like, why I love Kevin Hart and Stray so much is that you go to these things at the super Bowl and people randoms just come up to you with their companies and they say, why aren't we doing this together? Why aren't we doing that? And then you sit back and you look at what these people do for a living, and you're like, God, dang it, why didn't I come up with that idea? It's incredible. You're doing great, But I can appreciate that you want to do more. I like the rock and it's like this
guy or yeah, Kevin Hard, or aren't they tired? I mean I'm exhausted, but it's like I want to be exhausted on my own private jet. You know what I mean, Like, that's why I just have so many ideas I wanna This always happens to me after a Super Bowl. I always meet so many people and then it's Monday morning and I want to call them and follow up, but nobody's working today. That also bothers me get to work. I know I'm not I'm not getting to work today.
I'm are we hungover. I don't know what happened. I don't know. I'm that kind of drinker that I could have a couple of drinks and then it's like I'm a disaster, or I could drink the entire bar and I don't feel it either comes from like lack of sleep or the not eating or whatever. I would say. The eating is a big factor, right right, and maybe having a drink of water after I was supposed to get on a flight this morning to go to Nashville, and I went to bed at six thirty and the
flight was at eight THIRTYES. So that didn't happen. So now I'm going to get on a flight tomorrow morning, which again I'm gonna get my life together. I'm gonna start tighten it up. I'd let myself go a little bit. I'd let myself have a little bit of fun, you know, blow off some steam. I'm gonna lock it up a little bit. I'm gonna do like a detox. I think for five days. Probably should do it longer than what goes into that, because that whole thing really scares me.
My whole thing of a detox is I'm just going to have a green juice and get on the pelotan what goes into a detox. I'm not in disturbing myself. I can't do that. My mood suffers, and then my marriage suffers. Right down on a T shirt. I can't do that. My mood suffers, bumper stick or anyone. Yeah, I can't do that. I I like a detox. So I'm gonna do this one called Chroma not an ad um. A girlfriend of mine, Ashley, Uh, she does it and she swears by it, and it's been at my house
for way too long. So I'm gonna throw myself into that. I'm not a foodie, as you know, like, what is it? What is it? It's it's just a five day like you take this powder and then you know it's like a whole it's a powder situation and you don't eat. Do you have like almonds or nuts or whatever? You're not interested in that. I know. I love it though, because I'm a little bit of a massa chust like I like punishing myself. Because I punish myself with having a good time. Then I feel like I need to
balance it all out. So that's what's gonna happen up until we go on our own vacation. Then I'm just gonna go balls to the wall again. I understand the whole like detox and all that, but it's just like then at some point you have to have a meal, and isn't that just a crazy shock to your system. I don't know. I just can't function that way. You can't listen. That doesn't mean it's not good for somebody else, just because I know my limits. I'm a liquid gal.
Like we go to brunch, I could do a mimosa, a diet coke, a water, a coffee, a grain juice like maybe an egg. I'm just I'm a liquid person, and so that's where the whole detox thing works well for me. But yeah, I need to I need to lock it up. I'm always good about working out. I just need to cut out some alcohol here there, because you know, we don't need it every day today. It kind of is like what goes along with like your mood, right or whatever you're going through. It's like, if you're
in it, you're in it. If you're not, and you've got to be a certain way because that's just kind of what your vibe is. That's what your vibe is, right. But you know, it's funny though about that, And you've known me for so long. When I was going through it, when I was twenty six, I used to like just like drank a bunch of alcohol and drown my feelings. Now I feel like when I go through things, I actually, hopefully this is the maturity in me. I want to feel it, so I don't like numb the pain, so
I don't procrastinate on actually feeling it. You know that makes sense. You're like, that's not what you're doing for, But that's what I feel like. I'm doing a better job of not being so exorbitant in the alcohol intake just to like round out my feelings. I'm pretty good about, I don't know lately feeling them. You gotta do what works for you, right, But then you gotta detox and starters. Yeah,
that I gotta do. I follow this doctor that Troy follows, and he's really good about like certain things that you eat in your diet and diseases. I sent this to my girlfriend, who's kind of into this with me. When you eat the standard American diet, you get the standard American diseases. And she wrote to me, I had to stop listening to the Sugar Post a few days ago.
It freaked me the hell out and I was like, no, ship, like God, anyways, just we're talking about re entry and starting to take care of ourselves, and yeah, it's a lot of damage. We like the sugar part. Are you are sugar intake like my sugars from like from wine or things like that. I'm not like a sweets person, but it is interesting when you think about Well, it's not that interesting. I mean, it's just common knowledge. You are what you eat, you know, I know, I know,
and yeah, I know, and we eat pretty well. But yeah, like there's just some areas that we need to kind of tighten it up and we will. Like again, it's re entry. It's organizing the vitamin drawer, which I almost took a picture of the other day. My husband was just sitting Indian style on the floor going through expired things. It's just during the season, and especially with COVID. I was just adding every little vitamin and then you couldn't even close it. Now I need to do that tomorrow.
With my skin care drawer, I just get so many things. We go to the same facialist. She's always offering the next thing that's going to make us look like we're I don't finish my other products. Then they build up because I think I'm gonna go back and I don't remember I have my God, I'm so glad you said that I am. I am the ultimate consumer. I will
buy any quick fixed thing. Probably said shitty skin. So it's like, if this work, try this, and j I always does the whole like rundown, like have you done this? Have you done this? I'm like, I've done everyverything. But if everything they say it's going to clear my skin, I buy it. And then I'm the asshole who doesn't stick with the routine. I need to be better. You're so I was blown away. I don't know where we were,
but we were. I was in your hotel room and you are like, you have your whole like dropped down like travel kit of all of your products, all of your things. I'm like, I'm using the damn like soap in the hotel, and I wonder why my skin breaks out. You're really good about products. I just need to be better about having like consistency in general and then not bitch about why my skin is breaking out. My problem with products is I just keep adding, adding, adding, and
I'm not subtracting. So i have like seventeen toners in my damn drawer and it's not shipped. I've got like some I get something, send me whatever, Throw them out. You don't need seventeen you know. It's interesting owner I never do. I think they always say to use it, and then I'm like, and then I can't find the little sponge thing or whatever to put it on. So then I'm just is it getting it on my nose?
Like what is this doing the time? And then it's like they're like, wait five minutes to put the lotion on. You think me, I'm waiting five minutes to put the lotion on, even time in the shower, Like, oh, leave the hair mask on for five minutes. You think I'm leaving it on five minutes. I'm like five seconds and washing it and then I'm oh, I wonder why it doesn't work. I'm gonna start being better about this. Yeah, But can I ask a question? Why do you need
five minutes for the product to set in? Because here's the thing. It's almost like when you don't want things to touch on your like plate. It's all going in one place anyway, So why I need to wait five minutes for it to settle? At some point I'm putting the moisturizer on, at some point I'm putting the oil on, So it's the serum on. It's gonna be in there anyways.
You would have a shaded this. The other day when I was up in the lake, I was looking for a safety pin because there was a deep rooted zip. I could not This was so ghetto, aaron I, I'm so embarrassed to even admittage. You boil water? No I found? Oh my god, I can't believe. Want to just do it, say it. There was a there was a nail. There was a nail in the fucking I need to stop swearing. I'm swearing a lot on this episode. There's a nail
in the toolkit. It was a baby, tiny little nail, and I was like, if I just prick the top of this and I can get in there, why would you sanitize that thing? I did. I took a lighter and I sanitized it and I just nicked the top. I'm like, this is an all time low. I'm using a nail, not our idea needles, not a safety pin.
I couldn't find it. And you know when you scrounge in the bottom of your bag, the bag that you haven't cleaned out in months, because you're like, I need to get to it, but it's always when you clean it out and then you need something. And now I'm scrounging around and looking and I couldn't find a safety find I've went through every junk drawer, I went through everything, and I couldn't find it. And then I went into the damn toolbox and got a nail that is ALU,
did you get it? I did? I got it. It's so rewarding when you get in there and you know that you're not like getting the skin off, but like you get a hard mass and it just comes right out and you think to yourself, you know, what, had I not done this that would have been there for years, and I was so proud of myself, even if it was disgusting. I had a hell of it one the other day, and you saw the beginning of it, and you saw the middle and the ending so much so
that here I still have the scar. But it was two doozies that had showed up, and I like whatever. We had had a week upon weeks and then like I was just I don't know whatever PMS period. All the things happened, but now I didn't I didn't help because as I was being a bad friend for the week, and I added to the stress in your life. So I'm sorry, Well, this has nothing to do with a head that's or not a head, but like a black head that's probably been there for a year. And so
then finally it just festered and it came out. So I of course have this big event on Thursday that you talked about, but this is when this thing showed its ugly head, and I kind of was getting it and getting it and getting it, and I was like, crap, I'm getting makeup done in an hour. This is really bad. I went into the shower, I came out of the shower, I put my tongue on the back of my mouth and I noticed a little bit coming out, and I was like, I don't care that I'm getting my makeup
done in forty five minutes. I did my tool and I mean it was it was like you did you get planning? Yeah? I got it. Sometimes what happens it hits the mirror. There's nothing worse than I was doing this one on my neck. Um for you guys can't see, it's really tough to get the neck knee. You gotta pull up the three chins, get into a hard space and really get in there. Where I got go ahead, I was saying, we're gonna well, the barstool Sports guys
are so cute on part of my take. They asked us to be on and they're like, I really like when you guys talk about acting. I'm like, do you we got more where that came from? I am just disgusting when it kind of disgusting to me. I just I'm obsessed. I have this bump on the back of my neck right now. This is really foul. I want to go to Sandra Lee. I know that there's an ingrown under there. I do, and I keep picking it and trying to squeeze it. I've asked my sister to
look at it. My husband zero help like with it. He's like, no, I don't see anything. I'm like, no, there's something back there. Why is this raised? There's raise because it's an ingrown hair from my head? And how about when you get the ingrown hair and then you put you you squeeze it and a little hair comes out. Have you ever had that on your leg? No, You've
never had that on your leg. From shaving, You'll get like an ingrown hair and I see it and it's like a little bump and I'm like, oh, I'm going in and you squeeze it in like a little baby hair pops out. It's amazing. Foul foul. Does anybody want to date me? Um? So um. The other thing is I'm looking at this voice thing that I'm now drawing all over. That's the other thing I'm really bad about is invoicing for money, Like we do these events and then I have to do a thing I know, So
I'm gonna get I'm gonna work on that. I'm gonna make a list. Have you ever done a vision board? No? My healer that I went to suggested I do one. I think it's time for me to do one, you know, and I'm I'm not like into that kind of hokey stuff and not to you know whatever, degrade it. But I think it's time for me to put some of those things on there. And that's to be more organized. You're the queen of organization. You have lists upon lists, but I'm not. I write them, but they mean nothing
unless you follow through it right. You also have really good penmanship too. Oh god, it's really bad right here. I need to work on that. I'm a doodler, a lot of doodling, doodle dan dandy um.
