Episode description

How is your energetic balance? We all possess both male and female energy as a part of a well-balanced life. This belief can be traced back to beginning civilization, and is reflected in several cultures, artwork and their traditions. For instance, the ancient Mayan civilization was aware of the importance of balancing the power of these two energies, and it's very evident in their artwork and practices. Here in the US, we became more aware of this belief through Eastern philosophy, with Yin and Yang, harmoniously balancing Yin feminine energy, and Yang masculine. The concept of two energies in one body is apparent in many ancient beliefs, with sun energy being a masculine persona, and the moon energy being the feminine. It is extremely apparent in Hinduism practices as well!  Just to be clear, we aren't referring back to biology class, and the study of the X and Y chromosomes today.

When we work with gender energy, we make time to communicate emotions and creativity in Yin, the feminine. While setting goals and taking action to achieve them in the Yang, male energy.  We might trust our intuition and lean into our gut with Yin feelings while setting clear boundaries, and tackling them systematically, with the Yang. We can nurture and support ourselves and others with Yin feminine energy, yet step into a leadership role and serve others with Yang. With just these few examples, we can see the balance of female and male energy unfolding in our life. This energy can also be viewed as a connection of mind and heart.  In this episode we cover the wounded feminine and wounded male characteristics that some might encounter in themselves or others. Followed by activities that could be applied to bring both sides into balance. We end with a simple “hands on” technique including step-by-step directions to implement it.

You are invited to listen to this informational episode to “call in” balanced yin and yang energy, “call in” harmony! “Call in the Divine Masculine and the Divine Feminine to enter in and be in your heart. “Call in” these two energies, align them into one body. “Call IT in with Dar!”

How is your energetic balance? We all possess both male and female energy as a part of a well-balanced life. This belief can be traced back to beginning civilization, and is reflected in several cultures, artwork and their traditions. For instance, the ancient Mayan civilization was aware of the importance of balancing the power of these two energies, and it's very evident in their artwork practices.

Now let's move into some characteristics of unbalanced or unhealthy energy. Sometimes called the wounded feminine, or the wounded masculine. In the wounded feminine it can materialize as self-sacrificing, oversharing, lack of boundaries, desperation for love, overly possessive, always seeking others approval, manipulative, insecure, and perhaps stuck in victimhood mentality. Conversely, wounded male Yang energy can sometimes materialize as critical, judgmental, selfish, defensive, detached, a need to always be right, attachment to success, fear of failure, distant or no emotional reaction. Perhaps you can identify with some of these wounds in yourself and in others.

As with any healing modality, awareness of where the dysfunction or disconnection occurs, is an important first step in improving well-being. I find it interesting that even our environment can also influence our masculine energy, which is stronger in the city landscapes versus the feminine energy that prevails more in rural areas or places of solitude. So, what can we do to improve the healthy interplay of yin and yang?  Generally speaking, meditation, yoga, sound healing, chakra balancing, cord clearing, and most energy healing modalities, as well as some body work...have helpful techniques. But here are some everyday activities that you can try on your own:  To enhance the feminine Yin energy, express yourself, feel your emotions, recognize what's going on in your life and invite love in more, move your body, sway, dance, walk, create, write, paint, sing, decorate, get out in nature, carve out time to self-nurture, and be in solitude. To enhance the Yang energy, lead with confidence, be in the present, be in the now moment. Know your mission or your purpose. Set a plan, work out, join sport, take action. have goals with smaller steps to accomplish them. Add something new, active and adventuresome into your life. So those were just a few activities that you can try to bring your two divine energies into harmony.

As I reflect back to the various healing modalities that I've studied over the years, they each address these two energies. And some treat the female Yin energy on the left side of the body and the Yang energy, the male energy, on the right. A little side note when I am doing ancestral work or cord clearing part of my process is to silently ask that the primary energies appear to me as the female energies on the left and the male energies on the right for clarity. If this type of work interests you check out the work with Dar page on www.darsdivinedonnections.com or the link in the show notes or my Instagram bio.

One of my clients, for example, was heavily stressed by working full time single parenting and doing all the planning and coordination to keep everything running smoothly in her household. In our sessions together her physical pain always presented itself on the left, the female side of her body. Together, we realized that her female energy was actually calling for attention and wanted more creativity, movement and nurturing self-care in her life. Similar to this client session, you can do an informal inventory on yourself. Where in your body do you feel discomfort? And is it more left than right? If you've stubbed your toe or cut your finger, which side?  If you have, for instance, knee or hip pain, again, is it mainly one side or the other? What about back pain? Is it centered or off to the right or left?  A stiff neck? Trouble turning your head all the way to the right or to the left? Headache or shoulder pain, which side and so on. I'm sure you get the idea. These were all physical examples that you can combine with the earlier wounded energy examples.

Here is a simple technique where we can apply touch to begin the process of balancing these energies. Place your right hand on your left shoulder and under your pads, have your fingertips feel that meaty area on the back of your trapezius. Give it just a little squeeze and then gently pull forward and lightly let your fingers trail across your collarbone and diagonally across your chest. rib cage, right edge of your stomach and then push a little bit down on your hip and breathe out. Like you're breathing off any toxins, debris, negativity, any in balance. So, it's like you have a seatbelt on...just like where your seatbelt goes in the car from left shoulder to right hip. So, let's do that three times. nice deep breath (X3) Then switch to the other side. Left hand on the right shoulder muscle in between your neck and your actual shoulder joint... your trapezius, that meaty part. Just kind of dig your fingers in a little bit and then pull down across the seat belt line, so across the shoulder, cross the collarbone, crossing the chest, cross the ribs, cross the edge of your waistline, down into your left hip, pushing down, pushing off, breathing out and visualizing any disconnection, disharmony, unbalance all going off of your hip. (X3) Then cross your hands (doesn’t matter which ones on top) and place them on your heart space. Breathing easily and naturally. Nice deep breaths. Feeling centered, balanced and aligned. You can use this simple technique daily... combine it with something you already do like brushing your teeth or a morning cup of coffee, or an evening bedtime ritual.

Call in the balanced yin and yang energy, call in harmony, call in the Divine masculine and the Divine Feminine to enter in and be in your heart. Call in these two energies, align them into one body. “Call IT in with Dar!”
