Episode 6, Kevin Germanier: “Being ethical is not a trend” (English version)
Episode description
Since launching his brand in 2018, Swiss-born Kevin Germanier has done everything in his power to minimize its ecological impact while refusing to be (only) presented as “the sustainable fashion designer”.
Kevin Germanier readily admits that, at first, his passion for upcycling did not arise out of concern for the planet. Still a fashion student at Central Saint Martins, it is actually because he couldn’t afford to buy meters of cotton for his collections that he decided to go to thrift stores instead and create magic out of old sheets and curtains.
Years later, this way of thinking is now a part Germanier, his brand, which uses textile waste from other houses for its designs, and embroiders them with glass beads that were initially destined for the landfill.
His goal: to prove that responsible fashion can be flamboyant.
