Episode description

Founded in 2013 in Romans-sur-Isère by Thomas Huriez and his brother, 1083 is a brand of French-made clothing that intends to divide by 100 the number of kilometers a pair of jeans has to travel during its manufacturing process.

65000 kilometers. This is, according to Thomas Huriez, the average distance that your favorite pair of jeans has to travel to go from cotton in a field to a slightly washed bootcut in your closet.

It is also one of the reasons that encouraged him – after six years spent as the owner of a clothing store entirely dedicated to ethical fashion – to launch his very own brand of French-made denim : 1083, named after the distance between Menton and Porspoder, the two most distant cities in mainland France.

At the heart of his project: a tireless effort to relocate the textile industries in France in order to protect the planet, to preserve craftsmanship, and to create employment.
