Episode 2 Grape power , great responsibilities (English version)
Episode description
At 35, Thomas Lemasle is the cofounder and CEO of Oé. A brand of organic wines that wishes to make viticulture more sustainable at each step of the production process, from the pesticide-free plants down to the bottles.
What could be the link between a bat nesting box and a vintage of red wine? What is the use to plant radishes between vines? Aren’t we doing enough already when it comes to recycling glass bottles? Ever since its launch back in 2015, Lyon-born wine company Oé (formerly known as Pinot Bleu) has spent almost every day thinking about the best ways to make viticulture – which, according to its founder, represents 20% of pesticides use while only amounting to 4% of agriculture – a little more environmentally-friendly. Corks coming from forests that are managed responsibly, labels made out of recycled paper, zero-waste policy : (almost) everything made so that the wine is good for its drinkers, but also for the planet.
