Episode 1 - The power of flowers with Hortense Harang (English version)

In 2017, this former journalist and communications professional launched Fleurs d’Ici, a company dedicated to the promotion of French horticulture, that connects local producers to florists and clients.

Do you only buy bouquets from your local flower shop? That’s great.

But do you know where the roses, the tulips and the peonies that they put together on a daily basis come from? Nine times out of ten: from abroad, even though all over France, producers are doing their best to keep the horticulture industry alive.

The reason behind this: a powerful economic network created by the Netherlands in the 1960s, that has been orchestrating the great ballet of petals in Europe ever since. Four years ago, Hortense Harang decided to create Fleurs d’Ici, a company where tech is at the service of local consumption since it hijacks this traditional supply system by putting florists through to flower producers close by. The end goal: making sure that you only buy local and seasonal flowers.
