And I found it really interesting and I'm really looking forward to giving threads a bit more of a go. So if you have been wondering about how you could market your business on threads, then I think you're really going to enjoy this episode. riverside_felly_raw-audio_liz_mosley's studio_0121: ~Well, I don't, I don't know, ~in the UK do you have the same GDPR issues of ~like, ~threads came and then threads was blocked?
I'm tired of it. ~It's not, ~it's not doing what I want it to. I need a new platform. ~And then, yeah. ~I think on a whim, because I still had the Threads app, I was ~like, ~always waiting for it to come back, riverside_liz_mosley_raw-audio_liz_mosley's studio_0120: ~Mm. ~Okay, so you talked about, ~you mentioned just then, ~train of thought marketing. Tell me a little bit more about that because I've never really heard it described that way before.
riverside_liz_mosley_raw-audio_liz_mosley's studio_0120: ~Yeah, yeah, yeah. ~It's very quick, isn't it? Because like you said, ~like ~it's a lot more, I guess it's a bit like what Instagram was like right at the start, ~you know, ~where it's like you just snap a photo. This is what I'm doing. ~Like ~you didn't have to put loads of thought into it. ~Um, so ~I totally get that.
riverside_felly_raw-audio_liz_mosley's studio_0121: And I feel like that's where ~like ~ threads is my default ~And ~I trained it to think in carousels to think in stories to think in reels But it's like threads is like my default it's the one that I already ~I do ~think in and ~I ~have to adjust from ~And so it's like ~I understand the fear or ~the the ~reason for not using it because you don't reflect ~And you, and like ~in some ~people's ~cases you could share things quote unquote too soon, ~right?~
riverside_liz_mosley_raw-audio_liz_mosley's studio_0120: And it makes sense in terms of,~ like,~ building relationship and building trust, because people, ~you know, ~they're not getting this,~ like, ~super pretty, filtered, six months down the line message. ~You know, like, ~they're getting you right now, what's going on. ~Um, yeah, and I, ~to be honest, hearing you talk about it, it ~kind of ~makes sense, ~because, like, if you're, ~you're a writer, ~I'm, like, ~I'm all about visuals.
riverside_felly_raw-audio_liz_mosley's studio_0121: I would definitely say it's experimental. With my agency, we have this thing where we categorized content. Platforms by intentions, and so there's four intentions you can have. Lead generation, sales, educate, or nurture. ~And ~for me, threads is sales and lead gen. ~Like, ~I don't educate, I don't nurture, I just ~like, ~bring new people in and I sell to them on that platform.
riverside_liz_mosley_raw-audio_liz_mosley's studio_0120: ~Yes, ~so this is what I've heard and maybe you can anecdotally tell me, ~I mean I think it's going to be the case, ~that actually Your engagement on other people's posts often gets you more engagement than your own original post. Is that what you've experienced?
riverside_felly_raw-audio_liz_mosley's studio_0121: where ~like ~on other platforms, it's like you just ~like ~or reshare and you're ~like ~done with it. But here ~it's like, ~no,~ like, ~we're actually gonna have a conversation and ~like ~go back and forth and other people are going to enter the conversation.
riverside_felly_raw-audio_liz_mosley's studio_0121: but on top of that, ~like ~I scheduled sales posts, ~like ~one per day so ~that ~I can just ~like ~word vomit the rest of the week without worrying about did I sell today ~and ~that's where I wanted the in app scheduling, not necessarily so I could schedule like 20 posts per day, but so that I could make sure I had my one sales post.
riverside_felly_raw-audio_liz_mosley's studio_0121: ~Um, ~I would find there's definitely,~ like, ~the dopamine hit because you go to it multiple times a day. Every time you open it,~ there's, there's, um, ~notifications. If I don't have a notification, I'm like, Was I not interesting enough?
riverside_felly_raw-audio_liz_mosley's studio_0121: Yeah, and so then I feel like I'm ~like, ~not guilty when I'm consuming it after business hours, because it's like,~ well,~ I'm looking at ~like ~indie authors and what books are coming out, or I'm ~like ~looking at halftime Super Bowl pop culture things. And it's ~like, yeah, ~I'm reading ~like ~the Super Bowl things in relation to marketing, but it's also ~like, ~not necessarily ~like ~reading sales business content.
As in, ~I'm, you know, like, ~you post what you want to post, but ~I do, ~those sort of things sometimes make me a bit nervous because I'm like, what if you're ~as, like, ~as someone who's potentially your prospective client, right? Not you, but ~as in ~this person on threads. If I see that you're ~then ~going to Threads to ~like ~trash your client, ~that, ~ that gives me ~like ~a kind of a negative ~impression, ~impression of you,~ um, ~again, not you, ~like ~the random person on Threads.
riverside_felly_raw-audio_liz_mosley's studio_0121: ~Well, ~I feel like this really relates to my niche of content repurposing and that is that you need to have the same Personality on all the platforms. I think it really does a disservice for your brand and hurts your ability to build trust if on Instagram you're one person and on threads you're another person and on TikTok you're another person ~like ~you're allowed to have a personal account and a business account ~you know ~and they can have differences ~and like ~if you're an agency where maybe you're the face of the brand it's different again but ~like ~if you're a freelance service provider and you have these platforms They are looking to see that you're the same person on all the platforms.
riverside_felly_raw-audio_liz_mosley's studio_0121: ~I'm like. ~The only negative I can think of is ~I got, ~I got married last year and I took a month off of business. And because I had been treating threads as my lead generation and sales platform, when I went offline, I saw a massive decline. ~You know, because ~it was like, I can't give my team my stream of thought platform.
riverside_liz_mosley_raw-audio_liz_mosley's studio_0120: Okay. And I guess Instagram is a bit more ~like, ~you could probably give that to your team and they could just put up. ~You know, like ~more ~just ~generic business information or do you
riverside_liz_mosley_raw-audio_liz_mosley's studio_0120: ~yeah, yeah. ~That makes total sense. ~Um, what have you, like, ~what have you seen? ~So, ~you shared ~sort of ~how you're using threads. Have you seen any cool things that you've seen other people doing? Or any, not, ~this sounds so, ~this sounds so negative. ~Like, ~not mistakes, ~but you know, like ~things where you're like, Oh, I'm not sure about that as ~like ~a strategy for using threads.
It hurts your reach ~blah blah blah ~I put links in ~like ~probably 25 to 50 percent of my content and it doesn't hurt my reach. It just helps my sales ~So ~I think a lot of people hold back from Asking for the sale ~like not that they're holding back from selling ~they talk about their offers They talk about what they do But they never ask for the sale and that's ~like ~the big mistake that ~I think ~a lot of people are making ~um ~The thing that I always love to see, but ~like ~you can get trapped ~again ~with ~like ~seeing ~way ~too many of these if you start engaging with them, is the call out posts when you're like, I'm looking for these types of people or these are the dream clients I'd like to work with.
riverside_liz_mosley_raw-audio_liz_mosley's studio_0120: ~are interesting. I mean, ~I've seen loads of people do those, ~yeah, ~with super generic. Things that are nothing related to their business ~and so ~I guess that's where it comes to ~sort of like it's not even It's not even so far as having a strategy But just like ~being a little bit more strategic with the sort of things that you're asking for posting I think that's such an interesting point ~though ~about how one platform trains us to think a certain way Because you're right ~like ~Instagram has totally trained us to almost ~like ~be afraid of the link like afraid of even ~like ~using the word link because we're told it's gonna ~like ~Ruin our reach.
~Like ~the thought started as a thread or someone asked ~like ~can you go deeper on this or like it got really engaged Really good engagement. So I'm like, I'm gonna take that hook and make it my podcast title So yeah, and ~same with ~same with emails like the ones that are more sales based threads ~that I wouldn't be like, okay This is a podcast.~
riverside_liz_mosley_raw-audio_liz_mosley's studio_0120: is fascinating. And I think what's interesting about that is that often, the repurposing advice I've heard is ~like, ~create long form content first and then make it short form. But I just think it's so cool to see how it can work the other way around. ~And actually, I think that's such a good point.~
So it's like 300 to 500 It's a seven day turnaround. ~Is it done with you offer? So ~it's ~like ~a kind of no brainer Click to buy, doesn't need a sales call, offer. And that offer, people would buy it without talking to me ~all the time. ~Or, I would go into the DMs and say, Hey,~ like, ~you seemed interested in the remix, or ~you said, like, ~you were interested a few months ago, ~like ~What are you thinking?
riverside_liz_mosley_raw-audio_liz_mosley's studio_0120: ~Yeah, okay, that's, ~oh my goodness I'm gonna totally steal ~that, ~ that's brilliant,
riverside_liz_mosley_raw-audio_liz_mosley's studio_0120: Yeah. ~I, ~that is really cool when you can see it in real time ~as well. You know, like when you can see it sort of. ~such a quick conversion. And then I guess for you, ~like ~the podcast will be a real ~like ~nurturing, trust building platform. ~So ~like you said ~that, you know, like ~your lead generation is from threads taking you to the podcast where they learn more about you.
riverside_felly_raw-audio_liz_mosley's studio_0121: So last year I created a lead magnet and I Basically,~ like,~ step by step would share like my struggles, my frustrations, like what was happening with the lead magnet as I went through it, ~right? And so like, ~I ~had ~had the idea for a lead magnet. It actually started as a podcast. The podcast did really well.
And ~like, ~just literally ~like ~walking through ~like ~the frustrations I was having, the thoughts I was having, why I was building it, what I wanted from it. ~Like ~I shared it all, ~you know, ~and then when it launched ~it ~it got ~like ~pretty good traction I think I had ~like ~a hundred signups in the first month.
You don't look trustworthy. ~Like, ~you look like you have one foot in, one foot out your business,~ like,~ I'm not gonna hire you because you could shut your doors in a month, and then what, right? And ~so, ~I think that threads allows a place for ~like, ~true transparency and ~like, ~authentic transparency. I know when it first started everyone's ~like, ~oh, ~I'm so, um, ~I'm so unhinged on threads, but what it was is that they're just unfiltered.
riverside_liz_mosley_raw-audio_liz_mosley's studio_0120: yeah, it's always funny, isn't it? Because we forget that different countries have different things. ~Like, ~for example, okay, another thread thing that I've seen,~ like,~ there's been all these,~ like,~ thread bonuses that they talk about, ~you know, ~like creators in the US talk about, where they make loads of money if they get engagement on their threads.
riverside_felly_raw-audio_liz_mosley's studio_0121: it's interesting because my original thought was I was going to sell my done for you like in sprints, like I've been selling done for you gen December and January, and I can see. Based off of ~like ~the sales conversations I'm having, the interactions I'm having, the sales I'm seeing that the high ticket done for you, ~like ~isn't doing what the mid ticket, ~like ~done with you offered ~did ~on threads last year.
riverside_liz_mosley_raw-audio_liz_mosley's studio_0120: I like that idea of having different products that you promote on different platforms. ~Like it, ~it does make sense, ~you know, like that one, you know, ~like mid ticket would do particularly well in one area and maybe high ticket does well somewhere else. I think ~that's, yeah, ~that's an interesting strategy. ~I think that's cool.~
Yes. riverside_liz_mosley_raw-audio_liz_mosley's studio_0120: try it for ~like ~a week and then give up because nothing's happened. ~And I just think, like, ~it's the same as like when you have a new ~Like, uh, ~often, I remember, like, when I was younger, ~you know, like, ~you'd start a new job or something and you'd be like, Oh, I'm not sure this is for me.
riverside_liz_mosley_raw-audio_liz_mosley's studio_0120: ~Yeah, yeah, ~yeah. I love that. ~I'm, I am, ~I'm inspired. I'm going to try and definitely post at least one link every day, like either a sales link to my podcast. I think that's so cool. ~So yeah, ~thank you so much. Maybe you can just share where people can find you. ~Like, ~how can they find out about your agency and all of the things that you've mentioned?
