Episode description

In episode 22 I continue the conversation around understanding anxiety! I start with Nerd Alert, where I discuss the limbic system, then I get into the main segment of the show, which is understanding the amygdala pathway for anxiety. I  discuss why benzodiazepines won’t help with this kind of anxiety long-term and why you feel bad after having a “rage blackout”.

I also discuss how the amygdala can unconsciously attach anxiety to situations and objects, as well as helping individuals to become aware of the rapid responses that are experienced by the amygdala pathway; this ideally can help them understand and cope with the physical symptoms and experience of anxiety.
