Here's a quote that I heard from Kobe Bryant that really stuck in my head. I have self doubt. I have insecurity. I have fear of failure. I have nights when I show up at their arena and I'm like, my back hurts. My feet hurt. My knees I just don't have it. I want to chill. We all have self-doubt. You don't deny it, but you also don't capitulate it. You embrace it. That quote from Kobe Bryant keeps coming up. When I think about self-doubt.

So, what do you do if you don't have superhuman athletic abilities and confidence, like Kobe. In today's episode, I'll discuss the power of mastermind groups and why? I think every entrepreneur should be in a mastermind group. I'm Amin, Ahmed and welcome to Be. Well, Do Well. If you're not familiar with the term mastermind, it's a term that was coined by Napoleon hill and described in his book think and grow rich.

He explains that the idea of a mastermind is where two or more people come together in harmony to solve problems. One of the biggest benefits of working with others is that you can achieve bigger goals than you may have thought possible. For example in our company, remarkable branding. Our leadership consists of three partners. My role is more on the technical and marketing side.

My business partner, Heather focuses on branding and design, and my wife Shayla's role is to ensure that all the operations run smoothly. Combining all of our strengths together allows us to get significantly more done. Then if we had tried to do it on our own and trust me, I've tried to run a business on my own, and it is so stressful and overwhelming that I am super grateful to have these two in my life.

Another benefit of being part of a mastermind group is that you're holding others accountable for meeting their goals. But more importantly, you're also being held accountable by them for doing the work to accomplish what you said you were going to do. A, mark of a great mastermind group is that all members feel safe and supported. That is so important. I've been part of some mastermind groups where most members were there just for selfish reasons. They weren't there to support others.

And I felt like they were just there to try to make a sale. I definitely left that mastermind group and did not feel good about that. The accountability should definitely not be used to shame or blame others, but rather to support and nurture them. And that's what really makes a great mastermind group worth staying in. One thing. I find fascinating though, about mastermind groups. Especially, those that have been part of is that the overall goal is usually business growth.

But usually the conversations inevitably drift towards wellbeing and purpose. And I find that amazing because why else are you in business? Why else are you trying to make money? If not. First for financial gain for personal productivity and satisfaction, but also purpose and legacy. Really important that if you're in business that you think about purpose and legacy. The last point about why you should join a mastermind group is to build and continue momentum.

When I'm in a mastermind group and I see others doing really well, of course, part of me is like, oh man, I need to catch up. But the other part of me is also really excited to see the potential. And when somebody else does something, then you feel a little bit more motivated to do it as well. It's a natural pull towards getting your goals accomplished when you see others doing the same.

Prior to 1954. Running a mile in under four minutes was thought unachievable, no one had ever done it before then. Roger banister at the age of 25, did it in three minutes, 59 seconds. Point four. As of April, 2021, that four minute barrier has been broken by thousands of athletes. And now it's a standard when it comes to professional athletes, running distances. So why did I bring that up? Well, when you see others do what feels unattainable or unachievable, you actually can do it yourself.

You actually feel like, well, maybe I can do that as well now. The members in my mastermind group that I'm in now are amazing. They achieve. Extraordinary things. And that really helps because when I see others doing it, It really gives me that motivation that I can do it as well.

Motivation is not one of the things that you'll find mastermind groups promoting, but it's definitely one of the best intangible benefits that you'll There's a saying about how you are the average of the five people you surround yourself with. Well, by joining a high-performing mastermind group, you're sure to increase your average likely in ways that you didn't even expect. So to recap.

The three big reasons for joining a mastermind group or to set an aim for bigger goals, accountability, and achieving your goals, and lastly, to motivate and be motivated by others. In the next episode, I'm going to be talking a little bit about why mentorship is essential for entrepreneurs. And this episode, we talked about mastermind groups. Well, mentorship is the other element that I think is essential for entrepreneurs to all have. I hope you join me tomorrow.

And thanks again for making the Be Well, Do Well podcast a part of your day. I'll see you then.
