Maryam Bey is a lifelong learner, she graduated from St. Peter’s University in Jersey City, New Jersey, earning a Bachelor’s and Associate degree in Urban Education and Public Policy. In 2001, Maryam was elected to serve on the Newark Public Schools Advisory Board and was elected as President of the Newark School Board in 2002. She has earned many awards, certificates and resolutions from community organizations, the City of Newark and the State of New Jersey. By 2009, Maryam had received her certification in Anger Management Counseling. In 2010 Maryam along with her team ran an independent aggressive campaign for Councilwoman of the West Ward. Her ultimate goal is to complete her Master’s program and obtain a doctorate in Education or Criminal Justice.
