Episode description

This is the second episode of a multipart series on China's Century of Humiliation. If you missed part 1 (China's Five Baits) which covered the two Opium Wars in China, the Taiping Rebellion, and various other events which set the stage for todays podcast, then you may want to go catch up. But, if you're interested in the Boxer Rebellion, today's episode is the one for you! The Boxer Rebellion signified a turning point in Chinese history. The events in and surrounding Beijing during the spring and summer of 1900 are still confusing and difficult to pin down. Today we'll attempt to give this tumultuous time a coherent narrative. Enjoy.
