Episode description

We are talking with Marta Cantero Gamito on the (proposed) European Media Freedom Act. Marta is research fellow at the European University Institute in Florence and associate professor in IT law at the University of Tartu (IT Law Programme) since 2018. The talk will be based on Marta's article: "The European Media Freedom Act (EMFA) as meta-regulation". The EMFA, according to the European Commission, aims to introduce "sets of rules to protect media pluralism and independence in the EU. The proposed Regulation includes, among others, safeguards against political interference in editorial decisions and against surveillance."
