Episode description

James R. Wood is the former associate editor at First Things. He is an instructor at Redeemer University (Ancaster, ON). In this episode, Chase Davis and James Wood discuss the kerfuffle over a recent article James released on winsomeness at First Things. James is a former missionary and campus minister. He is also a pastor in the PCA. After participating in several church plants, he has begun to question the biblical fidelity of certain approaches to ministry which are overly concerned with winsomeness.

We discuss: Is winsomeness a ministry strategy or just biblical? Why are street preachers wrong in their approach?

If you returned as a campus minister in Austin today, how would you do ministry differently than a winsome-only strategy?

Why do you suppose so many misconstrued or really didn’t even attempt to engage your argument in your first things article? How can we reach them? Are they too far gone? Is it worth our efforts?
