Episode description

Presented by Elizabeth Bromley, MD. In this refresher training, we will review the concepts that inform decision-making about whether an individual meets criteria for grave disability. The training briefly addresses the history and intent of the Lanterman-Petris-Short Act. We will discuss the kinds of clinical scenarios that can lead to a determination of grave disability. We will review strategies for assessing grave disability and for confirming or disconfirming whether grave disability is an appropriate determination. We will leave time for questions and discussion of clinical situations. The training is intended for clinicians and non-clinicians who work with individuals with severe mental illness.
