Episode description

Cognitive decline poses challenges for safe and independent living for older adults. Although gradual cognitive wear is a normal part of aging, steep declines that result in severe memory problems and executive dysfunction are often signs of underlying disease. Participants will (1) learn about cognition in normal and abnormal aging; (2) distinguish warning signs of cognitive impairment; (3)become familiar with how neuropsychological testing can identify cognitive impairment; (4) recognize major types of memory disorders; (5) learn supportive strategies for working with this population.
