Today’s episode is the first of a week’s long celebration of 12 months of the podcast and my decision to include male guests as part of the podcast going forward. Some would say a long overdue addition, I would reframe that as, perfectly timed….
Today’s guest reflects the journey that I have been on over the last 12 months, since the podcast was launched exactly 12 months ago today. My first episode was a solo episode, the 2nd was my very first guest…Penny Power OBE. So it seems only fitting that my 1st male guest, should be Penny’s husband, Thomas Power.
Thomas is a powerhouse of a man, and more than that he is a super connector. Building Community inside Corporates and Connecting Business Owners is his and Penny’s focus. Uniting the two being the outcome. Thomas passionately believes in Community Led Growth (CLG) supporting people to grow themselves, their health, their mind, their business and increasingly their organisation. All three of his and Penny’s children support them in their endeavour of Community Building in three different ways.
Key Takeaways
Holding non executive and consultant positions in several boards, Thomas Power have seen companies succeed and failed. Even in 15 companies, only two of them made it the other 13 didn't. And that failure wasn't necessarily anything to do with one’s ability, skill or desire, but a lot of it is to do plainly with the reason most companies just don't make it.
Thomas described billionaires as people who have tremendous skill. They have tremendous ability, incredible minds, incredible thinking ability, negotiating ability, workability, and all have incredible memories. Brutal even to some extent.
There are a lot of factors why financially successful individuals are brutal or aggressive on their approach. These driving force can be perhaps the absence of parental support, being unloved as child, having no recognition or no identity. And whatever it may be creates a burning desire to create an outcome, positively or negatively.
The profile difference between a billionaire and a millionaire is interesting and absolutely massive. It’s common for billionaires to always working against the clock, trying to get things done before they die. Whereas millionaire profiles are trying to reach a state of comfort for their families or their lifestyles.
To have a better relationship with money, your self worth should always comes intact first. Everything else is secondary, it will come to you as a result of what you do, who you do it with and why you do it for.
