As the recent collapse of 20-years of American occupation in Afghanistan attests: worldviews matter. Despite the best of intentions, we can't export the Christian understanding of the world onto a people that are conditioned to think as slaves and are mental captives to tyranny. You cannot sanctify a people who are not first justified by the saving work of Christ.
Aug 18, 2021•22 min•Ep 163•Transcript available on Metacast Gary responds to a video that was sent to him about secret codes in Hebrew. The woman in the video claims that political and cultural "elites" are fallen angels and are sending messages to each other in code that she has "discovered." It's The Bible Code all over again...
Aug 16, 2021•22 min•Ep 162•Transcript available on Metacast In the second chapter of his book, Myths, Lies, and Half Truths , Gary discusses true spirituality. Is the spiritual person one who does not get involved in the affairs of the "world?" Spiritual is not antithetical to the physical. God expects his spiritual saints to be actively involved in his physical creation.
Aug 13, 2021•25 min•Ep 161•Transcript available on Metacast Gary discusses all of the protests at and against the 2020 Olympics. What do these antagonistic stunts actually prove? Does anything actually change for the better? Actions speak louder than words (or gestures). If you don't like how things are now, work to do what you can to change it or improve it.
Aug 09, 2021•20 min•Ep 159•Transcript available on Metacast Many Christians believe that the "world" is a distraction from the real work of Christianity, which is said to be "getting people saved." While evangelism and discipleship are indeed part of our calling, so is taking dominion and making this world reflect heaven, as Jesus says in the Lord's Prayer. Gary discusses this and much more in the first chapter of his book, Myths, Lies, and Half-Truths .
Aug 06, 2021•23 min•Ep 158•Transcript available on Metacast Gary shares his thoughts about Simone Biles and her decision to sit out a majority of the 2020 Olympics due to "mental health" issues. No one denies that sports and competition can be "mental," but is not "being on your game" the same as a "mental health" issue?
Aug 04, 2021•28 min•Ep 157•Transcript available on Metacast Gary answers a question from a listener about the book of Daniel and the book of Revelation. Daniel is told to "seal up" his scroll because the time is far off, but in Revelation the seals are broken and John is told not to seal up the book. Is this a further indication that the events of Revelation (and Daniel) were fulfilled in the first century?
Aug 02, 2021•20 min•Ep 156•Transcript available on Metacast On this episode, Gary begins discussing a new book, chapter-by-chapter. Myths, Lies, and Half-Truths is a book Gary wrote years ago to combat 15 popular objections that many non-Christians (and Christians, sadly) use as supposed conversation-enders to Christians getting involved in the culture around them.
Jul 30, 2021•22 min•Ep 155•Transcript available on Metacast Ever since American Vision republished Christian Life and Character , the ignorance of objectors to the book has been swift and loud. Gary discusses some of the common objections to how Christianity has influenced American civil government and sets the historical record straight.
Jul 28, 2021•32 min•Ep 154•Transcript available on Metacast In this final part part of his interview with Pastor Richard Henry, Gary discusses how eschatology is less about the "big" things and more about the "little" things. Life is made up of a multitude of small daily decisions and each of those are influenced by a worldview. A defeatist worldview will naturally lead to defeatist daily decisions.
Jul 26, 2021•26 min•Ep 153•Transcript available on Metacast In this second part of his interview with Pastor Richard Henry, Gary discusses how your view of the future affects how you live today. Eschatology matters, and everybody has one. Christians must start building the culture they want, rather than complaining about the one they currently have.
Jul 23, 2021•25 min•Ep 152•Transcript available on Metacast Gary was interviewed by Pastor Richard Henry about eschatology and hermeneutics (the science of interpretation). Jul 21, 2021•25 min•Transcript available on Metacast Gary reviews a book by Ken Johnson called "The End Times and the Ancient Church Fathers." Gary disagrees and contrasts Johnson's book and views with the truth of Scripture.
Jul 19, 2021•16 min•Ep 150•Transcript available on Metacast Atheists and homosexuals are all up in arms about an ad ran in newspapers by Hobby Lobby. Claiming that Hobby Lobby wants to impose Christianity on every citizen, these groups conveniently ignore their own dominionist tendencies.
Jul 14, 2021•29 min•Ep 148•Transcript available on Metacast Gary discusses The Tomorrow War , a new movie featuring Chris Pratt and J.K. Simmons. Gary compares the plot line of the movie to modern evangelical eschatology and its pessimistic view of the future. Listen now to learn more...
Jul 12, 2021•12 min•Ep 147•Transcript available on Metacast In the final three chapters of the Bible, Christians are assured of their ultimate victory, but that victory is already a present reality. Jesus has won the victory, Jesus is King... NOW! In two chapters near the end of Paradise Restored , David Chilton makes this point very clearly. Christians must live in terms of the present reality of victory, not in some delayed "some day in the future" victory.
Jul 09, 2021•27 min•Transcript available on Metacast In this talk, Gary DeMar shows how to force unbelievers to live consistently with their stated anti-God beliefs. This is the wedge of apologetics known as presuppositionalism. Using Proverbs 26:4-5 as his text, Gary shows that 1) evolution is a religion, and 2) it cannot produce a morality short of "only the strong survive."
Jul 07, 2021•43 min•Ep 145•Transcript available on Metacast Gary responds to a video where a woman is raging against Christians and the Bible. She claims that she "doesn't care what a mythical god says in his mythical book." She appeals to the Constitution as giving her "rights," proving that she misunderstands both the Constitution and where rights and morality come from in the first place.
Jul 05, 2021•22 min•Ep 144•Transcript available on Metacast In Chapter 21 of Paradise Restored , David Chilton comments on Revelation 17-19, which contrasts two cities: New Jerusalem and Old Jerusalem. A harlot woman is riding the Sea Beast, which is Rome, and she is accused of all sorts of blasphemies and abominations. She is also drunk with the blood of the saints (cf. Matthew 23:34-36). What does all this imagery mean? Listen to today's episode to learn more...
Jul 02, 2021•25 min•Ep 143•Transcript available on Metacast Gary riffs on several different topics on today's episode: immigration, economics, ethnic groups, and housing developments. The initial launching point comes from an article by Tucker Carlson about liberal politicians trying to influence elections by keeping minorities dependent on government money and programs based on where they live.
Jun 30, 2021•39 min•Ep 142•Transcript available on Metacast Gary discusses two recent news stories regarding a wave of petty theft around the country and the IRS denying tax-exempt status to certain Christian organizations. Jun 16, 2021•22 min•Ep 136•Transcript available on Metacast Gary DeMar sits down with Dr. Gary North for a discussion about the 5-point covenant model. Dr. North shows that the covenant is unavoidable and always flows out from the very first point: "Who's in Charge?"
Jun 14, 2021•21 min•Ep 135•Transcript available on Metacast Futurists claim that events in Bible prophecy are "soon" to happen based on current events. What they fail to point out is that the Bible itself makes the same claim about events in the first century. So who's right? Modern interpreters of the New Testament or the NT writers themselves? In Chapter 18 of Paradise Restored , David Chilton takes the NT writers at their word and shows that the book of Revelation was fulfilled in the cataclysmic events of the first century.
Jun 11, 2021•33 min•Ep 134•Transcript available on Metacast The culture of fear and fragility has a new hero in Texas.
