The boys are back from California and boy have they missed a lot. Some lightning round Headlines leading right into a pretty long and heavy Highway to the Hellhouse, right here on Zero Credit(s).

Transcript

The intro of this episode is brought to us by an x host by Jimmy Mack, who writes? Call me una ambitious, but I have 0 desire for riches. I only wanna wake up without an alarm, surf a little, meditate midday, train whenever I want, sip wine and eat well with good friends. As long as I have the money for that, I'm good. And welcome back to 0 credits, the show where we talk about things.

This week, my name is Henry. And this week, my name is the American ambition to live like the average European John, and together we're a Henry and the American ambition to live like the average European John, coming at you to discuss the cultural happenings happenings of that their Zeitgeist on order to make the world safer for Californian.

What's really interesting to me is how often people plan to save as much money as possible so they can retire to the Mediterranean and drink coffee, whereas mediterranean are just drinking coffee already. It's amazing. It's like it's like when you go to a California pizza kitchen, it is an experience. But when you go to a California pizza kitchen, in California, you can't just call it pizza kitchen even though you're in California.

Yeah. I I found that you and I both share this, like California, lineage, though we're both from very different schools of of Cali life, It's crazy how like the California raisins aren't just the raisins. Not when they're there. Yeah. Everywhere else or the California raisins, but they're still the California raisins in California, and I ask you, isn't that a bit much California raisins? Yeah. I agree. I mean, listen. Maine lobster in maine is just lobster.

Mississippi mud pies in Mississippi are just mud pies. Chinese food in China is just food. Oregano in Oregon is just oh. And yet in California, in California, you still have to honor the California, particularly at the Cp k. What What I... So I was recently in California, and you were also recently in California, at had different times in different cities. Correct. I started this by not warning you sufficiently ahead of time that I would be in San Francisco for 4 days for work.

And it's fine. We we we get... We found somebody to fill your spot. I think you did a pretty good job. Although there is a glitch in the episode and that at I think 58 minutes into the episode, the theme song starts playing again, and I did not fix it. Nice. I, that was my ghost haunting the production. Yeah. It was brought to my attention by Jamie, who was like, did you mean for this to happen at I was like, what are you talking about and she played it for

me? And then it is unintentionally hilarious amazing. Like the episode hadn't started yet. And it's just starting over. That was all the, like, pre roll stuff. Yeah. That was all pre roll. Yeah. Don't don't don't mind that we were talking in the middle of that theme song. Of course. That's just the way it rolls when when John's not here to hold down the fort. I mean, listen, I I think we're moving towards that place that a lot of podcasts

are now. Were you just talking and It just rolls into the podcast at some point. You know? No big intro. It's just a conversation. Like pete Holmes or any of the right wing people who do that. Yeah. I, also, the very first episode of since working over time with David Cross is very funny. He... Bob Bode and Kirk is the guest, and I think at minute 50, Bob is was like, so when does the show start? Amazing. Perfect. Yeah. Listen to that. It's a good... I've listened

to, like, 3 episodes. It's it's, you know, it's fun. David Cross is a very very good hang. Have always been a David Cross fan, and we'll largely cosign sign anything he does. So say, yeah, We were both in California, and, here... Here's a question. So California Pizza kitchen. I'm hung up on this. Mh. Is not every pizza kitchen in California, a California pizza kitchen. I would be I would say so. Do you know much

about California pizza kitchen? Because this is something that, like sticks in my brain? I I don't know a lot. I'm gonna I'm gonna guess by the way you axe that, not from California at all. I think it's from California, but I think too, like investment bankers quit their job to start California pizza kitchen. Okay. And so they they just... They decided to So ray raised dough instead of raised funds? There we go. There we go. No. I think it was just like kind of a shrewd financial move.

For my embarrassed remembrance of California pizza kitchen because I stopped eating cheese mostly by the time California pizza kitchen became available to me. I don't remember their food being that bad. I actually remembered them like having fairly interesting flavor combinations at California pizza kitchen. I am now deep into the history of their company. They were born in Beverly Hills, and that's where I wan bay. Do you hear me? Do you hear me? Mh. Formal federal prosecutors,

Rick Rose field. That's that's what a very federal prosecutors not investment bank. Yeah. So instead of raising crime, it started to raise. No. Of course. Apparently, they claim to have invented the original barbecue chicken pizza. That is true. That is actually I believe legitimately true California pizza kitchen, the C k was the Was the first server of a barbecue chicken pizza. You know, credit to where credit is due. III was a nay of the barbecue chicken pizza.

Had 1 recently very good. I don't know what's wrong with me. I I think barbecue chicken pizza is actually kind of gross and sweet. However, Cc pizza buffet adopted the barbecue chicken pizza, probably not long after the Cp did, and there was a brief window of time. Before I became vegetarian, where I ate meat, and I was trying to lift as much weight as possible. And then I would go to Ccs and I would eat for 45 minutes like I was training.

And I... In my time have locally eaten over a hundred barbecue chicken pizzas from Ccs pizza buffet. Nice. Not good. I'm I'm not at no. I still don't think I don't think the barbecue chicken pizza is a good pizza. I just wanna... You know, I know what Riches. I have no desire. Call me an bit uni ambitious. U. Of guess. I just wanna wake up. Mh. Mh. Go to a Cc pizza. Yeah. Eat all of the barbecue chicken pizza at the buffet that they serve. U,

I'm drink whenever you want. And if I just have enough money for that, I'm good. Yeah. III totally agree honestly. You could get 1 of their dessert pizzas. You could get a fountain drink. Oh, they had, like a stuffed crust. Pizza that I couldn't eat because at this point, I haven't an eaten pork for, like, 20 years, but they had, like, a stuffed crust pizza with pepperoni that looks so good. Amazing.

Well, we've been gone for a while, and it seems like a lot of things have happened in the world that might need a little bit of a addressing here on 0 credits. Indeed. We were both in California, and now we have to face the hard reality, the harsh reality. Yeah. Life not in California where every day it's a hundred million degrees and democracy is collapsing in front of your eyes.

Yeah. I left the perfect weather of California, with with just the air feeling the nicest it's ever felt even though I knew I was surrounded by smog, I could not see, and came home to a state be and and devastated by a storm no Internet due to a statewide outage and a surprisingly, I guess, not unsurprisingly, but a quite predictable missing governor who has fled the country right before the storm, fascinating. I I love how well taken care of, I feel as a

text. Also, you were in La, which has decidedly worse weather than San Francisco, which is where I was. And still so much more preferable to, pictures anywhere else in the Us. We got off the plane. We we were just on the little part of the the airport road where you have to go to get picked up Where'd you fly in Lax? Flew Lax. Nice. Yeah Yeah. We so we're were just waiting for our rental shuttle to bring us to the rental car.

And, so surrounded by diesel fumes and and, like, terrible, you know, traffic, and it still was the best weather I've ever been. Yes. I airport weather is, like, the worst version of whatever weather is in the city you're in. And even then I landed in S f and I felt an immediate bitterness because I got off the plane. I landed it. It was 68 degrees. I got off the plane and I realized, it is hoodie weather in San Francisco

11 months out of the year. Yeah. And was so frustrated for living in Texas because the weather was just beautiful. The entire time I was there. If you look at like, a temperature map of California by the way, at this time. This isn't a California thing. Bakersfield like a hundred and 8 degrees. This is specifically a coastal California thing. Be be the coast. We we were at Redo Beach, La County. And the weather was so perfect. Like, at they're in the midst... We we talked to some locals.

And they're were like, yeah. Oh, man. Sorry you're you're here during this time. We're going through the gloomy Dune where there's just clouds at the beach, but as soon as you leave the beach it's nice and and and warm. I'm... And I was just like, this weather is perfect. Yeah. Like, I can be at the beach. I'm not getting too hot. I'm not getting too cold. This is amazing.

What are you talking about? People who lived in the Bay area were apologizing to me for the weather because they also said, like, it's kinda gloomy, you know, the fog is out, and it's kind of a bummer and it's hard to see things. I'm like, this is beautiful. I'm on the water. I can see alcatraz kind of from my hotel. Like, yeah. It's it's extremely beautiful out. I think just the people in coastal California, don't know how good they have it. Oh, absolutely. Like, there was a

heat advisory. While we were there. Everywhere you looked on the... On the interstate, it was, like, you know, stay cool, drink water, hydrate, extreme weather. 84 degree. Yes. Oh my god. That's sw compared to what San Francisco had going on. Yeah. And and it's just insane. It's... I... It it did get hot. It did get hard. I'll give them that, but not as hot as Currently, it's, you know, 95 degrees with a thousand percent humidity. Yeah. It's 95 degrees at 8PM. Right.

I, it's it's it's truly horrible, the way we have to live compared to Californian. It's like, it makes sense that it costs 1700000.0 dollars to live there. Oh, you're buying the weather. Like, it... You're you're buying into the weather into the location especially like, beach trunk property and things like that. Like, it it it's... I get it I just wish I could afford it.

Same here. I think about Chicago a lot because Chicago has relatively expensive real estate but not as expensive as you'd think considering it's, like, location as, like a major metro. And then you think about it for a saying you're like, yeah. You know, you pay a lot of money to live in Chicago, but probably pretty seriously 4 months out of the year you think about ending your own life because

of the week... Exactly. So I was gonna say, my my sister born and raised in Oil orleans has lived in Chicago for a year and a half. And she was, like, the winter... She moved back to New Orleans because of the winters. She just couldn't couldn't handle it. And I'm... Yeah. It's too much. Yeah. I listen. I used to thank people were fools for paying a ton of money to live somewhere because the weather's is nice and the older, I get them, like, That is a great investment.

Because, like, your your basal level of happiness changes so much dependent on the weather. So, like, if the weather's always kind of okay, you're like, floor for unhappiness is only so low. Yeah. I mean, think about it now. You... We've done, out... Well, this might be a little too personal, but we've done a lot of work on your backyard to make it very nice and pleasant out there. As nice as it as it is, you know, how many days are you gonna, like, actually use your backyard here in in Central

Texas? Yeah. We like put in a fire pit. We had everybody over. You made, like, we filled that area. You guys dug in with gravel to make a raised bed. But for 6 months out of the year, we just look at it being, like, that's the inside of a microwave. Like, no one's gonna go out there. No one's gonna have fun. It's just an investment for later. It's it's tough, man. I owning a home

in Central Texas. I'm like, I... We should just have bought a condo or an apartment because, like, you shouldn't buy outside in Texas because outside in Texas is not pleasant. And there are reports too of, like, Austin specifically getting more and more humid. And it's like, I I left, you know, South Louisiana South Mississippi because it was human. I came here because they had advertised a dry heat. And you're telling me that's going away then, like, I I don't wanna be here. Yeah.

We're we're getting a tree plant at our backyard they came here. They dug the hole today, and buying trees as a hole ordeal that I don't even wanna get into, but we bought a tree and we're getting it delivered. And I was really interested in the kind of tree because I never heard of it before, and I noticed that it was, like, native too and does very well in, like, Arizona, like a death valley. Oh, god. And I was talking to the nursery.

And I was like, hey, why is this listed as a local plant in, like, the Texas... The Texas A and M ag extension L local even though it's from Arizona like, yeah. Well, the climate is changing in Texas. So now we have more desert plants, and I'm like, isn't like a great sign that the apocalypse is happening that your local bio is getting more desert. Yeah That doesn't seem like it's pointing in a good in a good place. No. It's... We're basically buying a, a, global warming trophy.

Amazing. Well, hopefully, it does well. Hopefully, they're planting it tomorrow, which is crazy to me, but... Yeah. They to. Well, trees are expensive, man. It it sounds weird to say invest in the weather of where you live. But... Yeah. Like, if you if No 1 can circling back to how we started this episode. If you could afford to live in a good place of good weather apps absolutely, but I I feel like the majority of us can only live where we are. Yeah. I mean, I I think that's like the essential

the essential conundrum everyone finds themselves. And is most people can just afford to live where they already are. Like... Yeah. You know, I can't pack up and move to Sa. Oh, we're Sa denis. Is that is that mediterranean again? Great question. I just said it, but I don't know Sa, Island in the Mediterranean see Oh my God. It's beautiful. Oh my god. It's a hundred and 8 degrees. Oh my god. Okay. I don't wanna move never mind. Yeah. Didn't know the mediterranean go. That's spicy. Sa

real estate prices. Let's see. 2 4700000.0 euros. Oh, no. That's a conversion. 1600000.0 Oh, 02:19 for a condo park includes 3 rooms, a hundred and 40 square meters. What's a square meter? I guess it would be, like 420 square meters, 4 wait. 460 square feet. That's small. That... I lived in a studio apartment that was about 400 square feet. Hey, but for just 200000 euro, you could do that in sa. Oh, good. Where it's a hundred and 8 degrees. Okay. Maybe Sa dani is not the movie.

But you know, it's it's an Italian heat. I've never heard that expression. Yet. It just smells like Bolognese. Oh my gosh. A lot of things happen in the past 2 weeks. Yeah. Other than both of us going to California and really enjoying our time there. Things... What we need to we need to cover some of these things That is true. I will say, I'm gonna say my 3 favorite things of California, based only on this most recent trip, then you'll do the same.

Number 1 bread. They're very serious about their bread there. Actually, I have a story. I have, like a tattoo of wheat on my arm. And like, 3 people this happened 3 times. They saw the tattoo. They're like, that's a cool tattoo. Is that like, a whip? Would that was the first. And I was like, fuck, I was like some people like, think it's a Cat night. I was like, no. It's sweet. They're like, oh, you're a

baker. I was like, No. And then there was another person I met at the ferry building, and they're were like, oh, cool tattoo. Is it like seaweed. And I was like, no. It's sweet. They're like, baker. I'm like, what the fuck? Apparently, Baker is just a job people in San francisco go have are respected for having. Oh, so you you know Sourdough comes from San Francisco. Right? Yeah. I went to 1 of the origin of the Sourdough Craze in San Francisco Ac me Bread company and had 1 of the

best Sourdough baguette of my life. Yeah. We went... Okay. This is Silly. But in Disneyland stop. In Disneyland, there's a place. It's a a Bode or Bow is it's a baker there's an area in there that's, like, Neo San Francisco from the Bay max movie, one's a called. Big hero 6. Big hero 6. Thank you. And there's a bakery there, and they are

1 of the origin of sourdough. So we learned a lot about the bread turns out the gold rush and sourdough bread introduced in, like, basically happened in the same year. Oh my god. That's so cool. Yeah. So people went out for the gold rush, a bunch of people went out. You you gotta have infrastructure around to sustain people. And so, like, bakers and and all that went with them. And they just started... The mother dough started with, started the same years the Gold Rush hit,

San Francisco. That's crazy. I need to buy some Sourdough starter because I've failed multiple times to get my Sourdough starter going. And, yeah, Let me tell you. I mean, it's anyway. Okay. 3 3 favorite things. Bridge. What was we run company incredible, incredible back at. The second 1, are they all food? No. The weather? I love the weather? Whether the weather was truly incredible. Third, only informed by this most recent trip Oh, there's just a ton of,

really great vegan food. I went to this place called Sen Sis, which is like a filipino taco bell fusion restaurant, and I got like, a vegan filipino crunch trap that was delicious. That sounds amazing. Anyway, those are my 3 favorite California things. Tying bow on the California think. Now, what are your favorite things but La go. La is pretty cool. 1, my number 1 thing would have to be, I guess, the weather because the weather was great. I loved it. I... I mean, it got a little hot

in some days, but, hey. It gets a little hot everywhere. It's fine. Yeah. Number 2, this is gonna sound weird I'm gonna sound like I didn't actually go and I'm just making this up the ryan go. Ryan Go pulled up to us next to our car shook his head. No, like, he doesn't La la land. And drove off. Now. Honestly, the traffic, the the driving an La, yes, there are a lot of people on the road, but everybody leaves gaps

everywhere. You can changed lanes with ease without fear, like, it felt like there was more mobility lane lane And what I experience on a day to day basis here in Austin. La is a cons car city. Like, you you hear this from everybody is, like, driving in La is a pain because it takes a while. But everyone in La drives and everyone in La for the most part is like a good driver. It's weird. They're They're nice. You put your blink on, they slow down.

Only once or twice when I was on the 04:05, avoid the 04:05. Mh. Did I feel like, okay I'm gonna have to fight for my spot. Oh my god. Are we talking of California? High? Are we... Are we in the S snl sketch the get the Californian right now. Anyways, Yes. We are. So whether traffic it's weird, it's fine. And then, the food was just amazing. Just a little chain please called our Poll Local, which is just like, hey. Do you like

chicken? Do you like all of the ways chicken can be prepared because we have everything from home style fried chicken and potatoes to any southwest dish. You can conceive them includes chicken we have it all. And it was just top quality top food, and it was... There was 1 on every corner. I was like, fast food shouldn't be this good. I I have heard, like, really good reviews of El Poll lo. I I will also shout a chain restaurant hills stone slash houston's on.

I went there to get a veggie burger because I was on a 2 hour long walk. Genuinely, it was 1 of the best meals I've had in recent memory. It was so good. Like they they serve, like, perfectly cooked french fries with ketchup that had, like, a little bit of sesame oil in it. The veggie burger was delicious. They gave me a Martini that was 1 of the best Martini ever had. The servers were great, big proponent of Hills stone slash Houston's. It even chain food in California is good.

Wow. Yeah. It's it it's it's it's a phenomenal place. Let's let's put a bow on it. It's both California. California cast is over. Friendship with California has ended. Exactly. Current events are now my new friend. Current... The friendship with current events begins now. Exactly. We missed a lot of things. We just we... I'm sorry to say we miss so many events. And let's just go over a couple... Let's do, like, a lightning round.

Top level headline kind of thing, and then if a story comes up, we wanna dive into, we'll dive into it. Sure. I'm gonna start off with a a fan favorite of mine as and I'm a huge fan of this news. Local local Austin guy is involved in this story. But, info world awards is to be shut down assets liquidate dated and there's going to be a bankruptcy trustee. It's finally happening. The sandy hook, verdict has been you know, was rendered. He

he was liable for all that money. He didn't pay it for a long time, and now Alex Jones, his empire is crumbling around and he love to see it. Yes. I I don't know that I love calling him, like, local Austin guy, but austin revenue He is a local Austin guy. He was, like a news anchor for Austin, Tv, Austin Local Tv for a while. Beloved Au. Beloved austin. Listen, the only thing I love more than Alex Jones in terms of local Austin things is that 3, they had to

cut down at Barton Springs. Oh god. The the only thing I love more than Alex Jones, is that dead dangerous tree, all those n beads wanted to save. Not in my bag yard. Not in my backyard, or yes in my backyard if it's a deadly tree, I want this tree cut down and liquidate to pay off Sandy Hook. I I lost the joke there for a second. There was a a friend of mine took a picture

of Alex Jones. They saw him at a gas station And this was kind of shortly after the verdict, maybe 6 months after the verdict. And he was driving a 90000 dollar hell cat and putting premium in it, so amazing. Maybe not doing a great job with that whole settlement thing, but, yes, very good. Very happy about the news. I have 1 for you. Okay. I am here. This 1 might hit a little close to home and be related to another major event. Spectrum services reported in wide scale outage across Texas.

Yeah. That's right. Oh, so we got home yesterday after traveling most of the day. To find ourselves without any internet. And it turns out most of the state who has spec or premium, premium primary caregiver. That's how I'm gonna say it today. U found themselves be of Internet just completely adrift and a c of no Wifi. Yeah. This was fairly crippling because Unless you're 1 of the blessed Google or At and T fiber users, Google fiber users, especially.

You were without internet end fact spectrum, I think is the, most popular Internet service provider in the Austin area. I think 60 percent of Austin or something ridiculous like that is on spectrum. And a third party tower was down due to hurricane barrel, which will probably get into a little bit more. And it crippled the city. My wife's company, no 1 could work or message each other from the office. People had to call each other. It was it was chaos.

There was... There were multiple, like mutual aid threads on instagram where people were saying which coffee shops had Wifi And which ones didn't. In the remote work ecosystem we're in now a widespread in that outage, not ideal. Yeah. And the funniest thing was to me. It it seems like this makes sense, but it's it's funny to think about because you don't really think about

it. But it seems like the Spectrum network runs on Spectrum because you could not access their app, you couldn't log in to your account. The the... There's supposed to be a thing where they messaged you when there's an outage that didn't work because, of course, there was an outage. The outage is so widespread. They can't even tell you about the outage. Yeah.

We got... My favorite thing was the the the the spectrum news account going to x and saying that there there has been an outage reported in the and Anti I quote Texas area. That's pretty great. That's pretty great. Yeah. We got our Internet back around 7PM last night, and But it seems like it's hiccup every now, and then you might hear me start a sentence and and John barrel through barrel through me because he he

doesn't realize I've started talking. It it's it's a it's the wild west of the Internet out here. Yeah. I mean some of us aren't on Google 5, and some of us are basically on 56 k because it's different from 1 unfortunately play 2 years. In 2 years, I will have access to Google 5. Listen. It's not all it's not all sunshine and rainbows and Google fiber land because they do these Goddamn micro trenches, they put the fiber in. So if the city does any work, your

Internet goes down. Oh, that sucks. It's not great. But it's infrequent enough, and Google Fiber has a policy that for every bit of downtime you have down to the second, they reimburse you for it completely. Okay. That's pretty cool too. Yeah. If you... Call spectrum right now. This is for any any people in Texas right now. If you call spectrum and go to their detain. No. Not not entertainment. What what is the word?

Where they wanna keep you retain? Yes. If if you if you get transferred to the retain, department. They will pro rate your downtime, but it's not automatic. You gotta export it. Yeah. Downtime should be pro rated no matter what. That's just how the service should work. So that I appreciate... It it does, unfortunately, sometimes put things into perspective because, you know, Google Fiber is not cheap. We pay, like, a hundred dollars a month. For it. And I I think we're on, like, a bigger plan.

And sometimes base rate... Yeah, The base rate is 70 dollars. So you... You are all on, like, an upgrade plan. Yeah. We're we're on, like, a faster plan, and you know, it could be down for, like, hours. And Yeah. That feels significant. And then they reimburse us for, like, a dollar. I'm like, well, I guess, in the grand scheme of things, it wasn't that bad.

Yeah. In similar news, similar barrel news, the hurricane, not the act of John talking over me and similar news, an unlikely hero shine brightly in the midst of so many power outages in the Houston area, up to 2000000 customers and and the texas area, were without power, but a 1 unlikely app became sort of a map of who had power and who didn't in the form of

water burger. Yes. Perhaps the most apocalyptic like shining beacon stories of a barrel, which was a very serious hurricane left many dead and widespread power outages through 1 of America's largest major metro in the Houston area. And that's not had to turn to fucking watt burger because our in infrastructure is so fucked that no whatsoever so it can in real time, display outage information, but What burger can, Yeah. If you could access the store on the app, it meant that area had power.

And and this is sort of, like it... It's in tradition. If if you grew up in the Gulf Coast area, you know that Waffle House is the indicator of evacuation, should we go back at. If Waffle houses were open, that meant the area was relatively safe to go back because they were the first to reopen after evacuation and storms. Wow. IIII barely remember that. You're just looking out from your window and you see those yellow lights turn on, and you know it's safe again. Yeah.

Yeah. It's a similar thing. And I I do wanna mention barrel as a category 5 hurricane, completely wiped out an island in the Caribbean. Like, we're we're talking about damage and widespread outages in in the Us, but there's an island in the Caribbean that is no longer around, like a decimated, an island that I can't remember the name of. I did not know that at all. Yeah. Let me see if I can find a name Yes.

Mayor... H, this is May, 1 of the smallest islands of Saint Vincent Vincent and the G. Was completely was completely like, I don't wanna say a hundred percent. Here officials are saying 98 percent of homes and buildings were destroyed. A Jesus Christ. It it hit this small island is like a category... Near category 5, probably more in the ballpark or category 4, but we're splitting hairs here. This was the most powerful storm that has ever been formed in July.

Hitting a very small island, wiped it off basically the face of the map, and then it continued on the Houston where as a category too, did a lot more damage to a a more populated area, but let's not forget those impacted and and the Caribbean. This is fucking insane. It's, you know, I I hate to keep beating the old climate change. Trump, but hurricanes are getting worse. Yeah. I don't know what to say about this.

Hurricane season traditionally. Yes, it does start in June, and it goes all the way through, late early October, but normally, you don't see the active period of it until at least, like end of August beginning of September, but we're just seeing more and more active storms, more activity and stronger storms earlier earlier and earlier, because of the simple fact that the the

the water, the oceans are warmer. And and these systems strengthen over warm water they're getting stronger because the water is warmer at this time of year. This is 1 of the instances where I'll say, the science cannot be denied. The climate is obviously changing. I mean, I think maybe the move investment wise is to just move as far West or Inland as possible. Yeah. It provided you can sell your home.

You know? Yeah. We we don't get into this often, but in South Louisiana, flood insurance has been taken over by the the the federal government. And they're raising the rates to basically from 1800 to 18000. Over the next couple of years. They're gonna deprive people out of flood insurance, meaning the next time it floods, people lose everything and there's no recourse. But how do you sell a house with that? How do you install a house for

that as the stipulation? It's almost like, they're trying to price people out of flood insurance so these homes get destroyed anyway, so they're no longer on the state government's books. Exactly. But there's... And and, like, there's no recourse for the owners. Yeah. I mean, I I think what they're trying to do is, like, potentially, what they might be trying to do.

Is price people out of being able to afford flood insurance, then they can't pay for it, Their houses to get destroyed they're ruined, but they're no they're no longer a liability to the state. It it's it feels like you know, firing people that improve the bottom line. That's not... Yeah. It's it's almost like doing an extensive Rt, hoping that 30 percent of your workforce quits.

You're you're just trying to... I mean, in this case, it's particularly evil because you're trying to ruin or kill people to make the state's bottom line better. Right? Yeah. Evil evil shit. You you mean, like, the kind of Rt that Internet protocol company Zoom just enacted. I mean, listen. This this has been a couple weeks of truly incredible Rt news, Zoom and acting Art, which is funny odds its face, pat in enact Rt pto and saying people fired if they're un... If they're unwilling to commute.

Yes. The jacket company that has for the past fucking its entire existence spend on the side of sustainability and Yeah and at ecological responsibility saying it will fire people who are unwilling to commute. Come on, man? Yeah. It it's bold face. It it's they're barely hiding what they're doing. It it's absolutely a... Well, we're not gonna do a lay off, but if you don't wanna come back to the office, feel free to quit. Yeah. We found a way to fire people for cheaper. If Yeah. This is

a practice point a public service announcement. If you are working for a company that is doing a strict Rt, and you are someone who either cannot relocate or be very difficult for you to relocate. You are being told you're being laid off. Yeah. In effect. You are being forced to self to port. So move on, Asap. Absolutely. I mean... It happened to me, but I stayed with the company because I was... I... It was... They did the... They did

this during Covid. Well well, your company is 1 of the ones that Rt, I don't think they're trying to lay people off. I think they're trying to, like, make a point Yeah. I think they're trying to make this some, like a weird, conservative point about it, not using it as like a tactic. No. They they were trying to say that it remote didn't work even though we were the most productive. At least my team was 1 of the most productive. Periods and now everybody drags their feet again

because they're in the office. Mh. Yeah. Anyway. Yeah. It's funny. Zoom made headlines today, because their chief people officer forced all employees to Rt, while he himself is a hundred percent remote. Perfect. And then also just the the fact that it's Zoom. Like, doesn't your workforce speaking remote doesn't that help your business? You would imagine, you would imagine. I I think that something we should make illegal is man Rt t when you and

senior leadership are totally remote. Yeah. That we should make that illegal or we should hurt the people who do it. Yeah. I mean, so baseball bats exist, but... If you look at the like, the the the percentage of the population that uses baseball ads, it's really just kids and professional baseball players. U. I feel like we can increase the use of baseball pads if we could use them on the c suites that force people to go back to the office. While they themselves

are remote. Honestly, it it it smack of money ball, you know how the Oakland a's, they had to find they had to find assets that existed that were being underutilized, but had greater benefit than the current system granted for them. Now, granted Billy bean and Money had to do a lot of different things, hire a bunch of, like, quantitative analysts to find people who are best. However, you don't have to find anyone. You just have to find a base ball bats.

Because baseball bats are very under indexed in terms of their value for making things happen. It's like it's like we're gonna be the money ball of the rest of the world. And the point is the bats that get on base. Yeah. Money back. They get on base. And that's it's all that matters. This is very funny to me that you organically brought up money ball. Friend of the podcast, Jeff was in San Francisco recently. Yes. The very same city you were in. Oh my god. Wait. Is that why?

Is that why when I was walking around in Bar, I had 1 of those things pop up, like, at the bottom of El ring when you're being invaded. Yeah. He was invading your your your San Francisco trip. No. He showed up with, like, a weird red aura. Yeah. Well, he... He is an invader. But he he found a way to be on a baseball field. I don't know the stadium. He d mad at me. But so I spent the next... Probably 2 weeks.

Anytime he posted anything, just posting things about Money ball, I called it Money bowl posting, and it's been a barely good hobby of mine for a a good 2 to 3 weeks now. Hey, Listen. Money is a great book of an okay movie. I haven't read or seen it. Good. They get on base, John. Yes. Let's utilize bats. But, yes, I I want to give credit where credit is do... There's a comment here on I'm about to read from Reddit user, It's ransom, but the a is a 4 and the o is a 0. Okay. Raf fan room. Yeah.

And they write. It's weird. Right? Dentist, everyone has good teeth. La center, etcetera, No 1 has glasses. Company who makes a living out of connecting people remotely dash dot dot dot question mark. U. Like, you you would think that the remote connectivity people would have their people be connected remotely. Yeah. I mean, but that's also assuming that, like, corporate America particularly tech companies aren't... Extremely ignorant. Yeah. All that matters to them is the bottom

line. And right now, Office real estate is a is a dying area that people have invested a lot of money yet. Here's the problem, man. It's not the bottom line. To improve your bottom line, You let your real... Listen. It's just... It's a sunk cost fallacy to assume that the leases you've already paid for have to have people in them. It's an opportunity. You have a an owner is 3 year lease for some downtown, Seattle real estate with a Barista station that doesn't even have

Barista anymore. Great. You've already paid that money. You've already forecasted for it. Let that run out. Let your lease run out. Don't renew, move everyone remote. Save yourself millions of dollars a year. Right. Like, it so it's baby brain thinking to think that getting people back in the office. Improves the bottom line because it is pro that productivity does not increase when people are in office Let people stay remote, get them together once a quarter and let them go back

to being remote. You'll save so much money. That that is the bear truth. The cy the cynical part of me thinks, somebody high up in the C suite has... Invested in the property that they themselves get money from people being in the building. Yeah. Like, they have, like, some shares and whatever Reit or whatever. Oh... Yeah. I'm not I'm not sure. Some But that's the only... That and, like, the self selection out, You wanna work remotely. You don't wanna come back to the office and now you're going

to quit. But what happens there is all the talent leaves. Because. They can get hired elsewhere. And you're left with the people like me who can't get hired anywhere else. You're and who doesn't do a good job. It it's he's hire me by the way. It's a it's a... You have more skills than you think, but it's a super imp emphasized tool because, like, the people who are working remote, you can't guarantee that they're either under underperforming or on teams that you'd like to cut. So, like, it's

it's it's a blu in. You have to be like, we need to cut head count. We don't care about getting pete rid of people who are good. Also, frankly, most companies don't care about getting rid of people who are good, and there are, like, maybe a couple of people who are, like, in general counsel or principal architect roles that they're like, you can actually stay remote. Bright. That right they'll extend those offers to people, but anyone in the middle is kinda fine to be cut. Yeah.

It's fascinating to me because the the mass lay thing is a thing that's happening across all all industries. And and and whatever form it takes if it's direct, you're laid off or it's returned to office, self select out, please. But east... The companies that don't do these things. And I'm gonna... Pick a very weird specific example. But the companies that don't do this, like, from software, they continue to churn out, hit after hit after hit because it's been the same team. For

generations, It's not... But, like, decades. Yeah. And it's like, there are proven case studies. Where keeping the same workforce that that gel together that know how to to work together makes a better product. And if you really care about making a good product. You wouldn't do these things. Whenever anyone is is pushing for an Rt, I'm, like, skill issue. It's either a skill, you as a leader or a skill issue in your team and that you can't trust them to be productive. It's it's with middle

on Like, it's it's a skill issue. And most likely, it's a you skill issue. It's not a poor worker's skill issue. It's middle managers not knowing how to manage remotely, not knowing how to do anything without micro managing their team and that... In the long run is not the opposite of beneficial. Detrimental. To making work happen well. Like, whoever did this fucking daily stand up shit. I wanna have a conversation with? Because, like,

stop it. Just let people do the work they're gonna do maybe 1 touch point a week, and that's all you need. Hey. I will actually defend the existence of the daily stand up in the framework in which it was intended Okay. Which is fast, continuous improvement, continuous deployment software development. Right. Which is you need people to check in that their features aren't gonna break other features. Stand up to the last 5 to 15 minutes super quick overview stand up is not fucking

story time Yeah. For everyone to get together and be like, I worked on the thing I said I would work on. And today I'll work on. The thing that I set like Right. Bullshit, expensive waste of time, stand ups makes sense for, like, Ci cd software engineering teams, and every other company is, like, agile sounds cool. Maybe maybe it'd be cool. We do that, and it's waste of everyone's time and it's not waste of company mind. Yeah. It's

for, like, hey. If we were gonna push this specific feature through this specific frame of our thing with that break stuff? Yes or no. Yeah. Exactly. Like, hey, I have a technical blocker on this thing, hey, I'm working on a feature that a block shoot. Cool. A problem solve handshake done. Move on, stand up over. Yeah. It's like, hey. I wanna push this. Is that gonna break shit? It does? Okay. How do we ram ram that? Boom or moving on. That... That's what we're working

on this old month. Yeah. That's it's literally the only time stand up is useful. And the cram stand up into everything because everyone thinks it's good. And it's so not. Meeting meeting with people for 30 minutes once a week is more than enough. Yeah. No. III worked for a company that does daily 30 minute meetings where it's like, what did your were on yesterday? What do you tremendous waste of time. Stand up should be 15 minutes back. If

it's fit. Yeah. If it's 15 minutes, honestly too long, stand up should be 10 minutes. Yeah. Anyway, we've gotten way off the beaten. We have a lot to talk about, and we talked about dumb job shit for too long. Well, yeah. We're going through the headlines. We we transitioned seamlessly. You didn't even notice. We're talking about that Zoom headline. He didn't even notice. You didn't even. I didn't even notice.

You don't even know? I have 1 more headline and then we can get into more j stuff, but this is just a fun headline to read because who the fuck knew this? Red box owner chicken soup for the soul fire files for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. I'm sorry. I think you might have think something might have happened. I think you might have read from, like, a Markov. Chain or something because what you just said makes no sense. This is not an ad.

I'm sensitive a stroke jokes, but I'm not having a stroke. This is a real thing. Red box owner, chicken soup for the soul, red box owner chicken. Is this like a re? Should I like, look at the first letter of every word and salt? Don't puzzle? There's a there was a very popular series of books in the late night. Oh, I'm aware. I'm aware. Well, for those who don't, you know, some of our audience skews younger, some older. There was a very popular series of books that were, like, chicken soup

for, like, the teenage soul or the... Such and chicken soup for the pug soul. Chicken soup for the poly soul. U. U. They got chicken soup for the goblin line cooks soul. Exactly. They got so big with that series of books, they needed to pivot once the 2 thousands came. People weren't buy self help books in the same manner in which they were in the late nineties.

So they pivoted and they pivoted hard they acquired Red box, a a company that puts physical Dvd rental boxes in front of every Cvs in the country. But now we have streaming. We have on demand. We have we have all these matters in which videos directly through our televisions. Red boxes is in a hard spot. So, yes. Red box chicken soup for the salt. Crazy. Files for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. And if you think about it this tracks,

this is a weird trend. Cvs is closing store after store across the country, Walgreens is following suit doing the same thing. This is where Red boxes has lived. Their habitats are dying. Yeah. They're now being chased over their natural habitats because of climate change. The climate has shifted. U. Yeah. No. Makes sense. The vi forest of the pharmacy company store, the... Your your your big chain pharmacy, that habitat is dying and the red boxes are going with it. And what's a chicken

soup for the soul to do. It's just gonna it's gonna make me so sad when they release that photo of the ema red box on the iceberg. Yeah. Yeah. Drifting slowly away, from its habitat. I just thought that's a fun little... It it's honestly a sign of the times. Red box was huge. 10 years ago, 20 years ago. 15 years ago. Red box was like, you got nothing to do on a on a Friday night. You're in college. It's a dollar for a rental, What do they got? Yeah. I'll rent the Goo. Yeah. I'll rent

quick. Name a weird movie. Evil Bong 2. Yeah. All read, surprisingly, I think I read Ex Mach from a red box. No. That's fascinating. Yeah. I was gonna say, I'll rinse every bourne identity movie. Oh, for sure are the born supremacy, and inject that shit into my veins. Oh, please. I'll get a Dvd that has a 30 percent chance of not working. Yeah. It was, you know, our Ip to a real 1, indeed, Rip Ip to both chicken fruit... Soup for

the soul and Red box. Seems like there may could have been another pivot in there because, you know, it it seems like they're totally willing to do something wild. So I wish they had pivoted with the times, but rest and peace red box, I guess I'll just... Looks around house for anything with a physical media. On my Ps 5 has a has a blu ray lot. So I don't know where I'll get my blue rays anymore. Now we we didn't Internet yesterday.

And, while I do have an extensive acquired media library on my computer, cough cough. My dear wife, my dear and naive wife was, like, Maybe this is a time to launch 1 of the Dvds we have. And so we watched our blu... Blu ray coffee of baby driver last night. Oh, big Kevin Space fans. I love the part where he gets hit by a car twice. Big ansel El gore fans.

Honestly, I I said this while watching, and I was wondering why he didn't become a bigger person, like a bigger star than he was, and and Jamie said, no Bidding things, and I was like, well name 1 and he did, and I didn't recognize what he was in. Yeah. I think he also has allegations didn't know. He Then maybe drivers a good movie. Love Edgar wright. Got pretty unlucky with some of the casting, but love that movie a lot. I I feel like we get 1. Right? We get 1 thing that we can like

without any connections or strings attached. Mh. For me, it's baby. Baby. Yeah, for me, It's every c special. That's my 1. Yeah My 1 thing is I'll put that on morning noon or night and laugh my ass. Because it's so funny, and I've given my myself permission to not think about it. I hate you. That's my 1. I why you take something I was trying to preserve the art of baby driver, and you just fly in my face, why it that principle doesn't work. Wait.

We get 1 for each person. Right? Because I'll put on Ko and on my phone, I'll watch Louis ck case specials. No. You get 1 thing. I have to pick I have to pick 1. 1 movie. Oh, a movie. 1 1 piece of art. I guess. Okay. 1 piece of art. I'm gonna say Rosemary Baby directed by Roman Pal ski. Oh my god. Gotta be my 1. I hear what you're doing and I disagree with it because you're being need. I hear what you're saying, and it's giving the worst examples of the thing I wanted to be innocent. Yeah.

You know, you can't fly in whatever. Do it... Do what you want, John, and enjoy what you want, you ras you Listen. I'm just gonna enjoy all the things I enjoy? Who's that 1 guy who get canceled for grooming a minor doctor disrespect? Yeah. Yeah. I'm gonna watch all lot doctor disrespect videos. Anyway. I don't even know what that guy's deal is. I I did I did watch a tiktok about... I did want a tiktok. That was a

clip. Of the stream where someone texted him about, like, story being post very funny. It's very funny. It's very it's very christy Elliott finding out you can save snapchat. I I want to, like, create almost like the Pen and Harry Potter. I wanna, like, make some kind of memory box of all the moments when predators find out in real time that they're cooked.

Yeah. It's very good. What I love the doctor disrespect video is he, like, clearly looks at this phone goes dead silent gets a try mouth, but kind keeps playing El ring, but isn't it really like doing anything. Yeah. It's very processing. You can see the gears turning. I I will say just to defend our show, we did cover the doc doctor disrespect scandal in our previous episode. Okay. Okay get. I don't wanna revisit something you've already talked about with... III

just wanna say, like, it... So if you miss that episode folks, go back and listen to it. Cough john Cough. Yeah. I... I heard there was this really bad bug with the audio that makes it, like. Yeah. Borderline. Yeah... So I I just did. I just didn't my. That's fine. I'm not gonna fix it. I'm not gonna fix it. It's too late now. I could fix it very easily. I'm just not gonna Henry, we're running out of time, and we have have so much to cover. We haven't even gotten to the highway to bail.

That's right. We got we haven't even gotten into the fucking highway to the hell house and there's so... There's my to cover. Of. We set it at the same time. Of course, I mean, you know, I'd be remiss I'd be remiss if I didn't talk about the biggest news from the biggest candidate. Please. I... So a lot this happened, there was a debate. There have been other things. There's been some new stories about some. Files and some some tapes. Please cover the biggest news story of the

day. Yeah. You know, we'll get into the debate, which is honestly a very minor story. But everyone knows here that we we are following the most popular presidential candidate, Rf k junior. And I just wanna read, a quick headline that passed by my news ag, like, 3 days ago. With all due, process and means, please do it. The headline reads R k junior paul's report alleging he sexually assaulted his children's Nanny, and ate a dog, quote, a lot of garbage. Paul's Okay. Okay. A lot to unpack here. A

lot on unpack. I'm gonna call this the most pregnant headline of 20 24. There is a practice and journalism called. That... It's it's actually like a faux pas. You should not do this. It's called burying the lead. U u. And III feel like this is 1 such example of it. It's I I love that it's now granted, I think the allegations of sexually assaulting your children's Nanny very serious. Very... Very soon. However, to just hide and a dog. In the middle of that headline is it it's really...

It's really something else. Honestly, is this a weird tactic? Like, is this like serve you up some juicy news serve you up a turd at the same time, the turd distract from the Juicy news? Like, is this like, oh, he didn't sexually assault his children. And he didn't need a dog. And he didn't need a dog. Definitely didn't need a dog. Also, by the way, K is on, we are pretending who we are right now as we talk about this. It sounds like we're being honest.

But we're not of, you know, there's a lot of stuff about him, not denying the sexual assault allegations saying he's not a... Church boy and then if all the skeletons is closet, he could vote, he'd be elected kick of the world. I... I've KKK on, U, yes. I came across. A rather crazy crazy and that I believe it's absolutely true, recount of, the treatment of his wife who committed suicide by his family and himself, and, k off. U. This kinds of fucking monster.

No wait. That's k on On is when we're being fake. Okay. When he's a fuck... This is the real me. Okay. Okay. Yeah. It's guys the guy's are fucking lost. I think... Okay. Here's the thing. Here's the funny thing. He was alleged to be eating a dog. Okay. Y. No No. We'll get back to it. I'm just say the funny thing. The funny thing. He was alleged to be eating a dog a veterinarian veterinarians and said, yeah, man definitely a dog.

He said, no, It was a goat because And there's a weird text chain where he texted that picture to someone and then said, Vietnam is a police to eat dogs, Apparently, he was in Pat eating a goat. Who knows? This was apparently the same year that they found a dead tape or his brain. Oh, so some some fun coincidence is happening there. Really seems like people's biggest takeaway is the dog thing. Or the better eating a dog thing. But let me tell you, everything else surrounding this horrible.

Yeah. So the kennedy, which historically look, they they they lob 1 of their children. Like, They're not a good fan They're not a they're not a good... You know, a lot of people talk about the Clinton crime family, but I think. I think the kennedy are not They're not good. They're not good people. And maybe, allegedly, they bullied Rf k junior wife into committing suicide. Are we are we not on the Rf k jude you're train anymore? I feel like it was fun. For a while. It was fun until we

until fax came out. Yeah. It it was fun when someone was just a a crazy person with an outside chance who had brain worms. But, like, I... It was fun when he was Ver Supreme. Yeah. It it's not fond when he's a member of the Kennedy family. He's sexually abusing Na. He's And this is an actual fact. He's digging up his ex wife's coffin that was buried in the Kennedy family plot and moving it. 700 feet miles away. Like, it it was fun before the evidence pointed to monster.

Yeah. I... There was a time when we loved him, and we want the best from. We were sad that he was pulling it at, like, 1 percent. Yeah. And now we're happy. He's pulling at 1 percent. And in fact, I think maybe he should not be in the public eye anymore. Probably not. And, I I... So... A bit of backstory. I was on a beach and and I was on her most beach in California. And, this was a family reunion, and people were like, hey. What are you when I say I up this podcast. They're like, oh, what's

your podcast about At current events. This year, we're covering the election, but it's a humor bent and recovery... We're we're where our guy Rf junior. And that's when my father of all people said, I just saw a headline that said he ate a dog. U. Very good. Yeah. And I was like, what dog did Fuck, I what... I'd we discussed this off air, but I was really hoping this hadn't, like, crossed the radar in the last couple weeks.

And I thought that's perfect. We have to cover that, and then 1 of my concern uncles was like, well, there's some things. And I I became aware of so much of a dark past that maybe we shouldn't be shining a light on this person and I I've loved the coverage we've done. I won't take any of it back. Of course, we didn't know. We didn't know. And then in the face of the election, it's like it's fun to poke fun at this whole situation. There's a lot of people saying.

The some of the jokes that we've sort of echoed, like, there's no good choice. And we're like, no. There is 1 good choice. It's Junior because he guys he's such an outsider But I feel like as as as more details come out about bucking shit that some of these people are doing, I feel like I want a k away, no more fame. No more k. And just say, if you don't vote for Joe biden in this election, democracy is over. Well, I mean, what about Chase Russell Oliver, a libertarian candidate.

Quick Google search. Chase Looks like a guy who might have a problem. Chase Oliver you say he boat going to his official web site, not a good site. Let me get to the about. 38 years old, you say very, very young the most influential libertarian in America by rolling stone. A champion of the rights of the individual against the growing power of the state? Is this John? Is this our guy? Chase Oliver said 99 percent of drag queen story hours are fine

for kids. If I had children, I'd bring them to 1 and leave them there. Is Chase Oliver based? Is he Our guy. Are we libertarian and chase all of our people now? I have to read See Racist he is because he is a libertarian, but things are happening. Things are being cooked up in the 0 credits politics kitchen. The Weird development. I typed in chase Oliver and hit the news tab, and the first story is about Rf kitchen great. Wait. Did he eat Chase Oliver?

No. It's something about pro R junior libertarian? U. I don't... I could read it... It's inside a Denver the Denver post. Should I read this? I mean, it doesn't seem interesting. No. Okay. Then don't. Chase Oliver might be our guy. Things are cooking up in the 0 credits kitchen. But Henry, I I know you said that if you don't vote for Joe Biden November, democracy might be over because of project 20 25. Yeah. But Henry, for Who knows if Joe Biden is even gonna be the nominee

or the the person we're... Well, he is the nominee. Who knows if he's even gonna be the person we're voting for? Because a lot of people are calling for him to step aside. So many people, the media, after the after the debate the media on masse called for him to step down. At and it was... It burned me up a little bit because 1 candidate lied. It's and and deflect and didn't answer questions. And the other 1 was just a little slow to answer questions and they only called for 1 to step

down and that fucking sucked. Well, I mean, the other side wants a... A furious tumor that lies all the time. Whereas democrats can't get their shit together if you put a gun to their head. Right Here's here's my thing. Yes. I think Joe, Biden should step down. And I think you should have done it 6 months to a year ago. I don't think someone over the age of 80. Should be president. I'm sorry. Right. It's and that's that's a fine thing to believe. Yes. Absolutely. I think his debate performance

was... Should ab invisible and sad and not funny, and I think a lot of people are trying to make it seem either funnier than it was or not as bad as it was. In my opinion, it was really, really bad and shows that someone should not be president if they are that old, and I'm sorry. If you recall, 1 of my bingo predictions from last year was that he would he would announce he was not running again. And that was based solely in the fact that, yes. He's old.

Yeah. Shouldn't run again. I wish would came true. And I thought it is. The buddy. It's so we have to... We kind of vote for them. Right? This is no choice. The the the problem is like, okay. I agree. I I want him to step down and for a younger person to take over. That would be an ideal solution if everyone immediately changed their vote over to this other person that we all got on board.

However, it's kinda 0 hour, and it it seems very dangerous person going into a presidential election where I think some of the short odds are on Trump winning anyway, and then going into that and then calling into question the mental faculties of the 1 guy we have to vote for because you're not gonna win in this election unless you have a super whipped up base.

Yeah. And I don't think I I think Democrats are too lazy to get whipped up just by the idea of Trump winning again because a lot of people haven't directly seen the benefits of the Biden campaign that's done a really good job. Amazing We are shooting ourselves in the foot. By calling from to step down now, we are taking the wind out of the sales of people who are excited to go and vote for him. I think it's a very fucking stupid idea to do this at this point.

And the... I think the only way we win, Now is we either fix the narrative fast, which I'd I'd almost feel the pig... Feel like the pigs out of the pan. At point I hear that. I do hear that. The the the campaign is trying very hard. There was a sit down 1 on I 1 interview that released on July fifth. They're doing another on the fifteenth. They're... Like, they think getting him out there more is the answer, and I don't know if it is because what happens closer to... You're doing all

of this now in July. What happens in November. He can't keep showing up to 1 on 1 interviews. He's got a country to run. And also, frankly, He's not great on camera. Yeah. You're asking an 81 year old man to do the hardest job on the planet and make it harder if he's significant doubt was cast on the campaign by a bad debate performance, which once again was bad. If you keep getting them out there, they're gonna get worse, like you're you're working this person to death, it's not good. And if...

Now, like I said, the 1 1 of the solutions is fix it. And like I said, I think the pig might already be out on panel that 1. So I don't know that we can do that. And the other 1 which I don't see happening is we get someone in there who's on young and a good or and is very good on camera and is someone who's able to, like, whip up a base, and I don't know that Democrats have that No. I don't think people whipped up for Ka kamala Harris at all. No. No. The closest they have I think, but he's...

Unfortunately, he isolate some un indecisive voters. I think the close we have is Pete Butt. Yeah. I don't like Pete Butt judge because he's a Mckinsey gh, but gets Listen. He's as he's charismatic, he's young and he can speak well. He would mop the floor with trump. Yeah. That... That's why whole thing is like, if if what we're doing right now is saying, like, if the strategy we're pursuing is someone who can, like, Whip Democrats up by t Trump debates, anyone younger will deny.

Because Donald Trump is not a particular, like, smart man who does well under real time pressure, and I think he's really eating right now because he can look like he's t Biden in a debate even though he made the sam amount of slip ups lied all the time was a really shitty performance. What what the thing is with the media is they don't call them under this shit. Like, they they should have the the fucking responsibility 2 fact check him live, and they don't.

Well the the the scenario we've ended up in, which is particularly apocalyptic. Is we did that for years after he got elected and while he was running and turns out, you know, it doesn't get clicks, people, like, pushing up their glasses and being like, oh, well, actually, here are the things trump. No 1 fucking cares. Like, the the media is an apparatus that make money. And, like, publishing an article being like, here's our in up fact check of

all the Shit Trump lied about. We're so like, in to the fact that everything he says is a lie that there's no interest improving him wrong anymore. Like, he's a he's a post truth individual. It's insane because the story is breaking and it keeps breaking now that a I'm gonna say allegedly because I have to be a stop proven, But according to some of these epstein files that are now being on Katie Johnson allegations. I don't know. Maybe looked that up. Maybe bleep what I said until

more facts come out. I don't want to spread this information. You have I know wouldn't be surprising. Anyway, I know. I'll I'll edit it around it. Yeah. But... Yeah. Please do. Post truth individual. I... There's... It's insane. But late his. Yeah. Those are my 2 solutions, which are fixed it, which I've have no idea how to do it at this point because, like, if we're talking about fact checking Trump and not being something that gets clicks, the, like, desperate reality Tv show

trying to find a new candidate. That'll get clicks and we'll And there's a ton of different newest outlets right now, including the Ap, which it seems kinda below them. Publishing articles saying like, oh, Nancy Pelosi calls for buying the step down, and she didn't. She's just like, it's his choice if he wants to stay in or not, Oh Yeah. And I'm not a Nancy Pelosi fan, and I I don't think she says good shit, but, like, it's a it's a very. Attractive tact to take if you're a meeting organization.

I'm a I'm a fan of a stock portfolio for sure. Oh yeah. She's an unusual whale. It's crazy. No. I I feel like... Yes. The fifth state that long established establishment to keep the government check gone. It's over. I think I've said that before on this podcast. Journalism is no longer about spreading truth. It's only about making money. And it's been bought out. It's been, you know, any shred of dig dignity that it had. It's gone. Agreed. It's to the point where I don't know

why. I I'd look at these headlines. I read articles and I believe it. And I shouldn't oh, or I should do more research, but I don't have time for that. Like... It's... Who is this serving anymore? I don't know. Yeah. Great question. I mean, I think it's serving the shareholders of whatever company owns, whatever media outlet you're reading. But like, I I guess my question is like... And this isn't something we can solve on the podcast So we're also short on time.

But the thing that I've been, like, trying to figure out over the past couple weeks is like, what do you do with this? I don't, because I don't think just staying in and saying that you did fine is it, maybe it gets solved by another debate where he does well, but who knows? You have to imagine for the first debate, they prepped him as well as they possibly could have. So what the campaign has been doing, In response to

this poor debate performance. They put them in front of, you know, the nation again on a 1 on 1 interview, that was edited. So it, you know, still there are some nay. What they're doing now is they're shining the light on project 20 25. The the dark brand account on true social... Because Trump came out and said I don't know what that is. I don't... I've never... The I I've never... I don't know what that is. Basically. We've denied all allegations of project 20 25.

And then, like, it... It's very demons traced the people who worked on his staff. Mh. So the dark brand account was, like, posted a picture of Palpatine that said, I don't know anything about order 66 They used a mean to highlight the fact that Trump has intimate knowledge of this project. And now this is a headline that I'm going to believe and repeat because I I don't recourse. But, project 20 25 is now being searched in Google more than Taylor swift in the Nfl.

I mean, that's good. That's maybe a third way out of this is, like, instead of standing on merit and conviction of being like, it's not true or getting a new person. Maybe it's like really hammering home what's at stake if you don't vote for him. What I mean like that? That... Yeah. Absolutely. That is where I am, and that is where my... Long Republican Uncle,

who I talked to in California is. And he said I, quote, I would vote for the corpse of a dead dog over Trump, and I don't know if he was making a jab at R junior. U. Well, you can't vote for that court he ate it. Wait. Yeah. He's saying he's going to vote for R junior because the quirks of a dead dog is inside of him? Maybe. I I did say we don't technically... And here's a workaround for us that I didn't focus on in the moment just now.

But I did tell him we're not actually 4RK junior were for the brain worm that lives inside of rf k junior. Yeah. The 1 that wants sugar and water. Yes. Exactly. That is our guy. Next to, who did you say Carson daly? What's this think at Carson daly, 100 percent libertarian in Canada? That's the total request live the TII think that is... And that's why I said if you don't vote for Biden, you're you're... That you're voting for the death of democracy because of this

this... If horrifying, if it comes through, project 20 25, which, just aims to make, if you ever saw a handmade and sale, I'm not being hyper. That is what they wanna do. Yeah. I I don't know how much a project 20 25. Will happen. It's super grim, I'm just saying if if you let this go unchecked, at the very least, unimaginable harm will be done to people you love, whether you see the parts of them that will be harmed by it. Or not, and at worst, we'll be living in a

d dystopian. So Yeah. There's really not a good scenario. If Biden doesn't win. So I'm just... And I I never meant a this for this to become a serious, like, I'm going to back this person over that person. I never meant to do that on the podcast, but I do feel with the platform that we have as small as it is we should dedicate at least 1 episode to, like, be, like, hey, this fucking shit is real. Yeah. No. I think

especially considering what we're facing right now. So it sounds like you're unequivocally saying that you back Joe biden. Yes. Okay. I'm gonna come out on the side of Charlie Crockett. Is... What was his name? Charlie Crockett singer of Yeah. 10 dollar cowboy. So, yeah. K K fa off, I back to your bind. K Bond. Carson Daly. Carson daily. Press slide. Are you kidding me? Welcome to. What was his name? Well, the guy, the libertarian. What was this? It's not Park Carson Bars,

Clark gay Clark gable. I back Clark gable. I just searched for the man. Where I'm back monkey. Chase Oliver. Chase Oliver. There we go. Hey, that's what I like to do with a Martini except without the r. Except Chase knowledge. Chase all. If you know what I mean? Yes. So I'm under the age of 80. I speak in complete sentences. I'm not a convicted felon I'm of it's a very low bar, but I've managed to clear that. Chase Oliver. More like a based oliver... Yeah. Hey... Well, he leaves his kids the

drag shows. He leaves his kids the drag shows. That's I should amend that. He leaves his kids the drag shows. Yeah. Oh he's gates. Alright. So, yeah, he's he's pete... He's pete butt jet. He's libertarian feed food edge. Yeah. Good for him. He I he he is standing with a flag that has marijuana leaves and the rainbow pride flag. Nice He loves to be gay and high. That's my candidate. There he is. Well, that Kay boss, Chase

Oliver is our man, Kay bond. Biden and whatever, death of democracy, do whatever you can to fight it. Please. Pokemon go to the polls. If you don't pokemon, go to the polls, I'm gonna dig on beat. It's very good. That very funny. I think on that, note. We've kept these poor captive people here. In the studio long enough. Let's let them go. Yes.
