There is this thing that is baked into so much of our experiences and the culture of academics where the expectation is that if you're ever going to be high achieving, ideally, you need to be perfect. Your point needs to be perfect. Your presentation needs to be flawless. Your paper needs to be invulnerable to critique. And - that's just not possible.

Yes, this is a very strong motivator but it’s a strong motivator that has multiple consequences including stress, anxiety, and distraction from the work you showed up to do. 

So let's let go of perfectionism and embrace excellence instead. Listen in to learn more.
