Conversations around “stealing ideas” are common in academic medicine, public health, and allied fields. An important question that's often left out of the conversations is why idea theft is even a thing in our field?

In this episode, I talk about a direct link between common advice that we tell our early-career faculty and how it contributes to this culture of "stealing ideas".

I'm offering this into the conversation in hopes that it prompts some reflection for those that are further along in their career to consider changing how we might give advice to those who are starting out. And for those beginning their career, I hope you will be even more courageous in changing the status quo.
