Episode description

"EVERYTHING I KNOW I LEARNED FORM DONNA LEE

Una YouJazz Masterclass del sassofonista Chris Collins da Detroit pubblicata grazie alla collaborazione con il Torino Jazz Festival.

"Throughout the history of jazz, aspiring artists and seasoned masters study, analyze and internalize the wisdom locked inside standard repertoire. But, what defines “standard repertoire”? What is the valuable information? And, how can studying standard repertoire help an artist master improvisation? In this workshop, we answer these questions and more by delving into the Charlie Parker (or, many believe it to be Mile Davis’) tune Donna Lee. We will derive exercise that improve harmonic/melodic vocabulary, phrasing, rhythmic depth and other musical elements that can make us a more interactive and sophisticated improviser."  La Masterclass è stata registrata durante il lockdown 2020 in collaborazione con Rampone & Cazzani saxophones.
