hello hello hello welcome back to you are not alone this is yna talks in spotlight brett here has the spotlight for today and he's going to introduce himself how's it going guys my name is brett kovalt i am 25 years old i guess i'm a fitness model somewhat of a fitness influencer fitness competitor and a boxer so i appreciate you guys having me we're happy to have you here and we're excited to find out more about you and your experience with mental health we'll get this started [Music]

what does mental health mean to you and how do you better yours having or finding balance and being able to maintain the external and internal factors of things that are thrown at you on a day-to-day basis environment people i guess you can say drama for example anxiety if you want to be serious like death of a loved one or even like happiness like joyous things it doesn't have to be depressing but just like various things everybody deals with on a day-to-day basis people kind of believe

like especially when they're at the beginning of their journey right they might perceive all these things as negative you know uh in the way that you said it you don't really see much negative is that because you're able to see the positive side of what used to be negative if that makes sense well the reason why i got into fitness it stemmed from negativity but it blossomed in that you know just straight positivity so whether it was bullying in any way shape

or form or me being compared to someone all that you know sort of stuff i you know worked my ass off and i came here for it it transformed actually it evolved it came from proving people wrong to proving myself wrong to you know doing all this research and knowledge and actually realizing i could become someone and actually help people i didn't have anybody help me so i became like a beacon for myself to become a beacon for other people so i wanted to be someone

that i wish i had but didn't but i wanted i wanted to be that i want to be them i think i am that for some people brett are you closer or further from a positive body image than before you started i mean i've been working out for years so everything's been very progressive as it should be for anybody who's going to the gym but at the same time it's kind of a double-edged sword because you're also chasing your future self uh physically mentally and emotionally but specifically

i guess in the physical aspect since we're in the gym i'm a lot closer but a lot further away as well because there's so much to attain and so much to achieve um you know so i guess i'm right in the middle all right brad what advice would you give to someone who's just starting their fitness journey um uh the number one advice i would give is to stay true to yourself do a lot of research uh don't be afraid to ask questions uh depending on the individual i know some people it's very hard

in social atmospheres but get out of your comfort zone you kind of have to get out your comfort zone considering you're physically changing your body that's as simple as that you know be true to yourself be very careful who you get advice from do a lot of research on supplements you take stay hydrated and at the end of the day remember you're in here for a positive reason so you want to make an impact on yourself in a very positive way mentally physically emotionally but also

you're going to be impacting others around you as well so again just stay true to yourself be confident if not the confidence will come naturally so how do you stop comparing yourself to people in such a negative way so my advice would to be figure out who you are as an individual you're obviously unfortunately going to compare yourself we naturally judge people and it depends on your journey and i don't want to repeat myself or try not to repeat myself but just stay true to

who you are there's more to life than just the gym but it's good to have a healthy lifestyle outside the gym so when you're in here work your ass off find that confidence if you don't have any ask questions do what you love become a better individual in every sort of aspect you know there's no need to compare yourself at all you're god created you to be different you're not supposed to be the same as everybody all right we're at the end of your spotlight is there anything else

you would like to give any advice or anything you would like to promote i'm not gonna be promoting anything aside from just try to live your healthiest lifestyle you possibly can mental health is a serious thing and that is something i've had to really learn about this last year so going to the gym beautiful thing to help with so many things going on runs eating healthy foods you know finding a good group of people to hang out with super crucial you know being alone it

could be a beautiful thing i think people need that but at some point it could also be a terrible thing so having a good solid foundation of a friend group uh people you can talk to open up with you know having that social life is very important as well being progressive having a passion um and for those of you who haven't figured out who you are or what you want in life that is totally okay you could be 16 and figure it out or [ __ ] 82 and figure it out it doesn't matter

we are all on a journey of self-discovery love positivity or at least i hope we all are um anything is possible and uh just give god thanks and praise every day so i appreciate you guys having me on the show and uh just be positive be healthy and just have a good day brett we really appreciate you coming out on yna we really appreciate everyone who uh stay tuned and listened and we just want to remind you please please please remember you are not alone we'll catch you on the next episode [Music]

you
