Our pole question for the day, Michigan State football will have six wins or less, seven wins or more? Which one do you think?
You can vote as often as you want. You can follow us on Facebook exus and Bros, or on Twitter or x XB mornings, we will have the results of our poll question from yesterday in the eight o'clock hour as well. Did you see by the way Tiger's loose by a run? Yesterday? Javier Biaz did not start at short again. Have you seen his numbers as of late? I'm numb to them whatever they are. Okay, you're ready for this? Yes, hit me, I think quite honestly, Trent,
I think this is getting lost. I do. I think it's getting lost. I think people have moved on. They are so resigned to the fact that he is this bad and that he's not going to be with this team next year. I don't know that it would be a lot to buy him out, but they've come. They've just resigned themselves to the fact that this team needs better hitting. Spencer Torkolsen hasn't been what they expected this year.
They are laying the blame elsewhere because Bias isn't playing well. And I also I think fans are just so fatigued by it, for lack of a better word, like they're just so numb to it. And I'm not saying that's right or wrong, right, different, whatever, It's just at some point, it's three years of this and it's getting worse. So I mean, how else can you deal with it other than ignore it. No,
it's a fair point, and I think you're right. But you know what, they don't seem to be getting get fatigued about complaining about the Pistons. They sure weren't fatigued about complaining about Matthew Stafford, and they haven't been fatigued about complaining about Spencer Torklesen. I think a lot of it has to do the fact that he doesn't play very much. He's six for his last fifty nine showed us that's one oh one. That's so bad. The six hits,
how many of were singles? Do you think? Five? Correct? He has one extra base hit and two RBIs since May twenty sixth. It's almost July twenty sixth, Yeah, in two months. How's your summer going? Hobby, just wondering think about that in two months he has two RBIs. We haven't said it nearly enough. I don't mean to be one of those guys who constantly picks on him. It's low hanging fruit. Think of how much better this team would be. Look, you know how I feel
pie in the sky stuff. But this team offensively has started to turn it around. Is it too late? In all likelihood only because the other teams have been playing so steady and I quite honestly I didn't expect it. There's no way I thought that Kansas City and Cleveland and Minnesota could do this. It's one of the biggest surprises in baseball the as. Yeah, I think so. Yeah, I think it's the big From a positive standpoint, it
has been the biggest. Kansas City already has as many wins this year and we're not through the calendar of July as they had all of last year. That's how good they've been. Okay, Cleveland with sixty wins. We always talk about Baltimore, Oh, look at how great their talent is, and it is. It's really impressive. We talk about the Yankees and the payroll. Right, sixty wins Cleveland has the same number of wins as those two
teams. They have one fewer than the almighty Dodgers. Think of that baseball, Actually, if you look at it, is it a really good spot. Milwaukee doesn't get nearly enough. Pub They've got fifty eight wins, really impressive. But anyway, Hovey or Bias, I think we've just kind of we've kind of looked at it and said, ah, it's not worth talking about anymore because there's nothing we can do about it. Shep let's reach the
point that I laugh. I laugh when he swings and misses at low on outside pitches and strikes out twice a game because it reminds me of that old saying if you don't laugh, you'll cry. Right well, I get it. I just wish there was something the Tiger could do about it. But think of this. With the year Green has had, and I think Matt Vierling has played really well on the com is Cole Keith Jake Rogers over the last couple of weeks has been much better. I still don't think he's the
answer, but much better. If you got any production from shortstop and first Baiaz and Torklesen, Yes went healthy. Think of how or where this team may be. I'm not suggesting they'd have even fifty five wins like Minnesota, Okay, but I'm telling you, man, it would be a hell of a lot more enjoyable summer to watch how much closer this team would be than
where they are right now at eleven games back. And those two guys, Shep, I think you hit the nail on the head because Tarkleson and Bayas they have different problems slightly, but it's too sides are the same coin. They just can't hit. And for Torque it's more of a power issue, and for Hobby it's just he's straight up can't hit the ball. Yeah. For Torklsen, I think it's more of a mental thing than anything else. Again, I don't know would they have been better? What's hurt them this
year? What's hurt them? Right handed pitching? Okay, they're thirty eight and forty three against righties, so that's hurt them. And obviously they never seem to play well against the West. Would they be a better than seven and thirteen against the Western Division? Who knows? Can we pinpoint one specific game where they would have won instead they lost? I can't I just I
think logic tells you that those two guys. If Torkolsen was playing like it was last year and if Baiez was similar, I don't expect him to be. You know, what he did with the Cubs, that's really not probably logical at all. I mean, you'd love it. It's the reason they made the signing in the first place, right, that was the expectation, that was the hope. Anyway, when people said, hey, listen, finish second in the MVP in twenty eighteen, that's what we all boasted about.
Two ninety hit thirty four bombs, drove into league high one hundred and eleven runs. I mean, anybody who thought you were getting that wasn't living in reality because that's not who he was. You're sure as hell didn't want him to be the same guy he was in twenty twenty one when he led the league in strikeouts with one hundred and eighty four. And I remember that
was a huge part of the narrative when he came over here. Chep was to your point, we remember the whole shortstop sweepstakes, say that ten times fast of that season, right, And the whole thing with Hobby was well, he strikes out a lot, but he's great in the field. And if you could ask one hundred Tigers fans, one hundred of them would take that contract back right now. Oh, without a doubt, one hundred and one. You'd be an idiot if you didn't. You know, he is
really good in the field. It's his throwing that's a problem, yes, and that's always concerned me. But this is a guy. I mean, you do your homework. He averages one hundred and seventy plus strikeouts. I don't know exactly what it is, but one hundred and seventy plus strikeouts a year, that's what I mean. That's that's a slew oft strikeouts man. Too much swing and miss. You can relive it all you want, it doesn't make any sense. All you're doing is all you're doing is wasting time.
I'm just stunned at the recent numbers, and that just two The one that stuck out for me is that it's been two months, full two months, and he's got just two RBIs. Just two RBIs since two months ago. I don't know what the solution is. They got to be pulling their hair out every single day knowing they're going to that they're going to have to eat twenty five million next year and twenty four million in each of the next
two years. I know you and I would love to see them buy that and buy it out, Okay, I would didn't like the contract when it was signed. Gotten a big debate with somebody within the Tigers organization when they signed him, and didn't like it. But how you gonna eed seventy three million dollars ridiculous? Right? FM. This hour of the program brought to you proudly by Kilwyn's Fudge, an American spoon. Some encouraging sign for were the Pistons, and that is this when CBS Sports went out and looked at all the Summer League games and graded a lot of the first round picks. Certain players were better than certain others. If you watched any of it, you would recognize that Alex Sar of Washington, for example, really struggled. He was the number two overall
pick. Reed Sheppard was probably the best player in the Las Vegas Summer League. He was clearly the best three point shooter in the draft class and during the Summer League as well. What they gave Ron Holland for the Pistons, this is what they wrote in a B plus grade. Holland is going to be an interesting situation in Detroit. He's one of the top players in the class based on upside pure talent, but there are questions about a long term
fit with the Pistons due to his skill set. What is that? What is the question? If the guy's got a really good skill now he doesn't shoot the ball real well, perhaps that's what needs to be explained, and that's what the Pistons need. Of course, what team doesn't want really good shooters. I was watching a video the other day. Steph Curry starts at the dotted line, makes a shot, makes a couple of shots, goes back to the free throw line. He extends his way almost to the logo.
Didn't miss a shot in two minutes and forty seven seconds, just kept getting the ball, shooting it. He went out and then back in again, finishing with a running right handed tear drop in the lane. It was amazing. Who wouldn't need or want a shooter like that. I'm not saying Ron Holland has that capability or that there was one in the draft. Every team would love to have shooters like that, but Holland, with his skill set, how does it not fit long term? That's what I'd like explained
anyway. They go on to write, Holland showed him the Summer League why he's one of the best overall athletes in the class because of his relentless motor. I'll take that. I'll take a guy who's out there and the gas level to give a blank level is up there. He's also a great cutter and got to the basket, drew contact at the rim a number of times. He struggled as a three point shooter with the G League Ignite finished four of seventeen in Las Vegas. You can only have so many non shooters on
the floor. Hence why the fit in Detroit will be interesting. Holland's defense intrigues me the most, and there's a path for him to be a star in the league. Wow, there's a path for him to be. Well, let's pump the brake slightly because of who he's playing against. But the athleticism is always there. I don't care who you're playing against. The athleticism is always there. And as far as defense is concerned, that's fine. You know, I think defense is really important. I think you have to
prove that you can score the ball as well. Boston has shown that in winning a championship. I'm glad that he can play some defense. I'm glad that that's one of those things that intrigues him or wants him on the floor to play. As Thompson is one of those guys too. I want guys who can shoot. Let's see how Detroit develops him as a shooter. That will be most important. But at least it's an encouraging sign that he went out there and performed as well as he did during the summer league. So
that's a good sign for Pistons fans. Some of the training camp the NFL training camp situations. Who needs the strongest training camp to change your mind about that player? So there are a number of players throughout the league who needs something better to incur the confidence from their organization and their fan base. For Detroit, you would guess it's Jamison Williams, right, I mean that would be the answer. Is that the answer? That's is that the answer to
our pole question from yesterday? I don't know the poll question was most interesting storyline from Lions camp, health of offensive line, progress of the secondary battle for the number three wide receiver position, or hand in Hooker's development. It might not be the most important answer or the most important guy that you want to see breakout. But I think it's the one people most want to see in this Lions fan base. Is that because it's a need or because of
where he was drafted, Maybe a little bit of both. But I think it's also more so than a need. It's a luxury if you can have Jamison Williams taking the top off when you have Sam Laporte underneath, and I'm in rest Saint Brown running flawless routes and Jamier Gibbs on wheel routes and that sort of thing, Jamison Williams is a cherry on top. So I think it's more so what fans want to see than what they think the Lions actually
need this season. Right, I was gonna ask you, I mean, do you think it's a need after their success a year ago without having that guy who quote unquote takes the top off the defense, do you feel they need to have it this year? I don't think so. I don't think they need it. I think it'd be very nice to have, but I think given this o line in the way that Jared Goff plays, and of course it's not a slight to him, I'm just saying that his strength is
more methodical surgical. He can air it out when he has to, but he doesn't, he doesn't need. It's not a Matthew Stafford type. And I hate to just draw the comparison to Matthews. No, that's okay. So here's here's the debate on that. Though. The belief was last year they didn't have that and that's what kept them from doing it or from winning
it all. No, obviously the defense and the coverages in the secondary, that's a big part of it. But offensively, when you jump out to a big lead like they did in San Francisco, the belief is you have to be able to take shots down field to open things up underneath after halftime in a game like that against San Francisco, against certain teams, you have to be able to go downfield. That was not necessarily the only thing,
but it was one of the things that was holding them back. If you've subscribed to that philosophy, then Jamison Williams's ability to improve to progress this year is vital and that's what some people believe. Eighteen games over the last two seasons. Injury and gambling situation twenty four catches three hundred and fifty four yards
two touchdowns last year. That's it. If you think speed, it's not just taking the top of it. It's speed too, because you can get the ball into a guy's hands who's got great speed, get the ball into his hands in other ways. And I think Ben Johnson has done a nice job in that regard because he's one of the more innovative minds in football. But this is make or break for Jamison Williams. And quite honestly, you know a Lions offense that has to figure out. If he can't do it,
they've got to find somebody who can. We get a text and you could text us Sports Radio to twenty one thousand. Do that as often as you like. We'll get him on the air for you. The Meyer hotline eight sixty six eight three eight forty eight forty three. That's eight sixty six eight three, eight forty eight forty three. What's the text? Read? Try very very interesting text. They just text the name Jack Campbell, and I think they're responding to your question about who's a player you want to see
have a good camp And I think that's a great point. It's a very interesting point because while we talk about Jamison Williams, Shep, I think you'd agree with this texter and with me that the defense was the bigger issue and that was what held the Lions back the most last season. Right, So if Jack Campbell takes a step and he's the quarterback of your defense, so to speak, who knows how much better this defense can be the season? I think that's an intriguing answer. I do too. I do like it.
I think it was a big adjustment for him A year ago. You said you think the defense is what held them back? Yes, Can you be more specific because that's a very generic thing to say, well, the defense wasn't good enough. I'm not saying you're wrong here, but what do you Are you talking about the passing defense? Are you're talking about creating turnovers? Are you talking about the rushing defense? It can't be just the defense,
right, Yeah? No, I definitely go secondary, and we've addressed that a ton this summer talking about how the Lions have overhauled that secondary. But I also just think the second level. I think you know, Alex Anzeloni's a solid player, Malcolm Rodriguez is a solid player, but you need a ballhawk who's just a freak in that linebacking cor and Jack Campbell. I mean, you picked him in the first round last year. That's the guy that fans are looking at. They want him to be that guy. Yeah,
yeah, I don't disagree with any of that. I think you're dead on there, and I think obviously the when you look at the secondary and Terry Arnold is going to be a huge Like we're talking about Jamison Williams, you're mentioning Jack Campbell. Not to put too much pressure on the kid, but when you're a first round pick, it comes with the territory. Terry Aron Arnold, you could argue, is one of the biggest and most important players for this coming season, and you wouldn't be off base. As a
rookie, it is vital that he make a seamless transition. Is he going to get burned? Absolutely, every good slash great corner does get burned. That's the territory of the position. But he needs to make sure that he is progressing and he is a starter from day one and keeps that position where you and I can be talking about how impactful he's been improving this team's past
defense. If this team wants to have a really solid improvement from that angle, in that situation where you're talking about the secondary, you want to make an improvement. Sure people are looking at other players. He's the most important one. I love Brian Branch, no doubt about it. There's safeties should improve too. He's number one, though, Terry and Arnold. Is that much of a difference maker? When we come back what I told you about
yesterday? All right, I want to see and hear from you about the top four athletes different sports from your school or in a school in the state of Michigan. I've got mine. Is it wrong for me to every time I hear another One Bites the Dust, I think of the Lions. Do you know why al Baker? Well, it was really Spider Man Allen, Okay, and that's who it was. It was spider Man Allen who
really came up with the another one Bites the Dust song. Of course, Queen made it famous, but Jimmy Spider Man Allen did it way back with. You know, Billy Simms was part of that. You're right, Bubba Baker was in there as well, but that was back in nineteen eighty when the Lions, coming off a two and fourteen season, got off to a four and oh start. Billy Simms was on the cover of Sports Illustrated and
wrote Pride to the Lions. So Jimmy Allen writes the song to that beat, and what ends up happening is the Lions end the year nine and seven and don't even make the Blackoffs. But it's nothing better than that euphoria starting the season for at all. Oh. I can't wait till the Lions do it again this fall. Yep. It's it's just incredible. But I remember that vividly, and that's that's oftentimes what I think of. It's crazy, Hey, I know, we got a text and I want to get to
what's the topic. I've been teasing because I'm really excited about it. It's gonna be fun. But before we get into that, I wanted to comment on something that Joel Sherman, who's out of New York and works for MLB Network, what he said last night. He said, if the Orioles wanted to get Trek schoolbl and Jason Foley for their bullpen, they would have to give up Jackson Holiday, who's the number one rated prospect in all of baseball, and Heston Kirsted. Kirsted is six three to two O five. He's
an outfielder designated hitter like player. He's played twenty three games with the Orioles this year has hit two ninety six. He was the second overall player taken in the Spencer Torkelsen Draft. What would that be twenty twenty? Right, yees played at Arkansas? Would you do that? I'm gonna hate myself, but yeah I would. Okay, So here's what you would get. You would get a twenty five year old outfielder with tremendous upside. You would get
your everyday shortstop. Okay, because that's where Gunner Henderson would be playing, and he is just twenty three, so you're infield next year. Let me just project it next year. If you did this deal, if would be Jay Young at third, Gunner Henderson at short, Colt Keith at second. I'm going to say, Spencer Torkolsen at first, Riley Green and left, Kirsted and Wright, Parker Meadows and center. You want to talk about a young, exciting team, a young exciting lineup that would do it for a
lot of fans. Is it exciting? It's exciting for the first week. Gotta win games? To your point, right, how exciting is that if a young team is going out there and only winning fifty six games? Revillain Right? All those things go against what I've been saying, And I've been talking about getting an experienced guy, getting a guy who can come in and help nurture guys along. It's it's just the opposite. Unless you think a guy like Riley Green has enough experience to do just that, and I don't.
Matt Vierling would be part of that group obviously, but maybe not as a starter. You'd have a guy like when sil Perez who should still be on there, but he's young. It's just something to think about, that's all. I don't think that gets it done. That's a lot to give up before the Tigers. It's a lot to give up if you're Baltimore. But that's more about the future. Hunter Henderson would excite me like nobody's business
just because you don't have a shortstop. I mean, if you want to wait for Kevin McGonagall, go ahead, all right, you're gonna be waiting a while. You're gonna be wait a while. Okay. So I mean he just reached hi a for crying out loud. Yeah, he's with the white Caps, right, Yeah, and he just got called up and Max Clarke together or they Okay, yes, yeah, but show I mean, I can't get any worse that short stuff. Right, Well, you wouldn't think, you wouldn't think, I mean, but but I want to see
I would. Let's put it this way. I'd rather have Gunner Henderson putting up those numbers now at shortstop, hoping he was going to learn than hobby or bias. It's more concerning because of bias's you know, tenure in the major leagues. Yeah, and he's three years into a ridiculous contract. Yeah, but be honest with yourself. Were you excited when they signed him? Yeah? Okay, see that's that's why I'm glad you're at least you're honest.
I was not. I was not. I mean, he was not a guy I wanted because and look, you wanted the other names at that position. Correct. Well, he from a shortstop standpoint, of all those free agent shortstops, he was last on my list. Yeah, I mean, I'll be honest, chef, he wasn't even on my board. I was looking for a Corey seeger. I just I was excited that the Tigers were spending some money. But in hindsight that has not aged well at all. It just goes to show you that I say it all the time,
and if we had more listeners, people would would get it. Just because you have money doesn't mean you spend it. You spend it wisely. So remember the Piston, Charlie Villain, a Wave and Ben Gordon. I got into an argument with a colleague of mine who said we just got the two best free agents. I said, dude, you just wasted money. Those guys aren't that good. It was a terrible free agent class. I'd rather you eat the money. Yeah, you just threw it out the window.
And it's the same thing with Bias. Just because you had the money, the Tigers felt like, oh, we got to spend it, spend it smartly. Please. Well, that's just at shep because you give the guy a six year deal. I mean, that's just bad business. Because the Pistons, I mean they were in a similar situation this offseason, but they had money to spend and they spent it on a guy like Tobias Harris who's on a two year deal. The second year is a team option, so
there's wiggle room there, right, the money for one season. Yeah, I don't mind that quite honestly. That's com we all understand where that team is. Okay, the contract for Bia has made no sense from the get go because of where this team is at. They just did it because it's a need and it's a big name, and it just it hasn't worked.
And it's not surprising to me at all. We've got a text and I want to get to and then I really want to talk about this what I considered a pretty cool topic of the best athletes for your school from different sports. Just give me four Who are the four best athletes from different sports from
your school. What's the text, Trent. Yeah, we'll make this quick but interesting point of view from this text, Or says Teddy Bridgewater does not get enough credit for turning JMO around more off the field and on the field starting making noise, especially in the NFC Championship game. Teddy maybe one of Holmes's best signings. When all of a sudden done end of texts. And
of course Teddy Bridgewater has retired since. And I mean that was kind of the noise about Teddy Bridgewater, right, was that he was a great locker room guy, great culture fit, great mentor. So. I don't know if him and Jamison Williams are super close. I was just going to say I didn't. I can't say that I've necessarily read that either. But if that's true, then credit to Teddy Bridgewater. Let's hope it sticks, because he's not going to be there to put an arm around his shoulder or kick
him in the ass if he need be. So I hope Jamison Williams has grown. Look, this happens to all of us. I don't care if you're a football player or not. We all, you know, obviously we want to mature as our years grow in football, that's got to be expedited. Jamison Williams needed that. I don't know if it was Teddy Bridgewater who guided him there, or if it was a coach or whatever, but let's hope it has taken root because he's got to be a guy who you know,
makes that next step. He's got to make a big step, a monumental leap compared to a year ago. All Right. Someone tweeted the other day that San Diego State. This was just after Xanders Shoftley had won the Open Championship for his second major. That means San Diego State can boast a two time major winner on the golf course, a Hall of Fame player in Tony Gwynn, Hall of Fame player in Marshall Falk and one of the better players in the NBA. And Kawhi Leonard. Those are four pretty big names,
great accomplishments. Who would be the four names for the various schools in the state of Michigan. So let's start with the University of Michigan. What would those four names be? I have my list, maybe you do, and I hope Trent does as well. My list would be this I couldn't. This was a tough one for me, to be honest with you. Remember, you're not gonna have two basketball players. You're not having two football
players. You're not having two baseball players. I thought originally Charlie Garringer, and then I remember that's a long time ago. I'll go with Barry Larkin. He's in the Hall of Fame too, and he was more recent, So I'll go with Barry Larkin. Tom Brady thought about Charles Woodson, but I went with Tom Brady. Chris Webber thought about Glenn Rice, but Webber hall of Famer. And I went with Marty Turco because he won a couple
of national championships. He was historing the NHL for a long time with Dallas. So those are the four I had for the Wolverines. Who do you have? I would only push back on basketball, And I guess this name I'm gonna throw out here might be a little ridiculous because Chris Webber did just make the Hall of Fame. But I'm gonna go way back. I'm a historian of basketball. I love hoops. Kazzie Russell won a championship with the
Knicks. He was an All Star once he was the National College Player of the Year for the Mazon Blue m H Mister Basketball USA got his number thirty three in the rafters with Michigan, so I would maybe go him. Recent history, Trey Burke was excellent at Michigan, led him to the national title game. So I don't know. There's a couple of different answers. Chris Webber is probably the right one. What I would push back on basketball, Tom Brady is an that's a bullet right for full Yeah, look, I
don't think I don't think it's automatic Weber. I think I gave strong consideration to Kazi Russell as well. It's not like I'm a huge Chris Weber fan, but he is in the Hall of Fame. He was a five time All Star, he was the Rookie of the Year. He did put up some massive numbers on a team that probably didn't get a lot of recognition because of when and where they played. But you know, you average in your career twenty one points and ten rebounds a game. That's pretty damn good.
I might Trey Burke as much as I like Trey Burke, and look, I called those games and he was National Player of the Year. I think with this list, the beauty is you taking their professional careers into consideration. That's the key with Trey Burke is right, he is almost non existent. Yeah, and he's still playing. He's made a nice living, but he
isn't at the professional level. That Chris Weber was right, Chris Webber Hall of Famer and multi you know, perennial All Star there for a while, and then Kassie Russell won a championship with the next the last time they were relevant, right, So got to give credit to those guys. So I like that, all right, So let's go with Michigan State. So for me, and they've got a rich tradition, without a doubt, I went
with Lorenzo White, Kirk Gibson, Magic Johnson, and Ryan Miller. Now, remember, just because I went with those same four sports with Michigan State and Michigan at the same time, doesn't mean that you're limited to those sports. If you wanted to give us a different sport, that's fine. I don't care if it's swimming, I don't care if it's lacrosse, I don't care if it's women's basketball, whatever, I mean, it all qualifies.
But you can only have one player from one specific sport. The hard one for me was football because there were there are a ton of really good football players from Michigan State, just like they were at Michigan. Who are your four from MSU? I agree with most of your list. I'll throw this out there because you talk about the other sports and given some love, this
is a little topical. Heath Baldwin, remember the name. He's competing for the US and there's the Caathlon coming up here in Paris, and if he wins gold, I mean he came from Michigan State, So that would that would be something you'd have to consider and talk about, because, well, whose place would he take? He's not taking Magic Johnson, No, certainly, I honestly, as crazy as this sounds, maybe someone from the football camp, because I don't really have a great answer. I mean, with
Michigan it was Tom Brady, no doubt. So with Michigan State, it's like he got a I think Lorenzo White's a fin answer. Okay. I think a lot of people my generation would go Kenneth Walker. To be honest with you, I know it was only one season, but it was a match season. Five touchdowns against your rival. Yeah, and which looks like he's going to have a solid pro career. So it looks like he's gonna have a solid pro career. I was thinking Bubba Smith thought about that for
a little bit. We definitely Kirk Gibson as well. Shout out to Kirk. Yeah, all right, so Central Michigan. I went with Dan Marley. I don't think there's any question about that. Antonio Brown, Kevin Tapany played a long time in Major League baseball. And I went with Dick Enberg. Now I know he wasn't an athlete, but he is arguably the most famous Central Michigan alum, and he is involved in sports, and he is
in multiple Hall of Fames, So I think it qualifies. It may be a little bit of a reach for some, but I do believe that that could qualify if you give me just a little bit of leeway. So I'm going to go with those guys. There's no doubt about I mean, look, Tappan, he played thirteen years, so Marlee hell of a player, best basketball player in Central Michigan history. And Antonio Brown, there's really no I mean, Ray Bentley was pretty damn good. Eric Fisher was the first
overall pick. First ever out of the Mid American Conference as a tackle and won a Super Bowl. I'm gonna have I've got to stick with Antonio Brown. Did you go deeper than Michigan or Michigan State? No. I thought about maybe Chris Cayman, but then I looked up Dan Marley's resume and it's more impressive. So Chris Caenan really well, he made an All Star team, he had a decent run there for a couple of years. Okay, well that's what I'm saying. That's not my answer. I just considered it,
and then I looked up thunder Dan. There's no doubt. So you just went to Michigan Michigan State. You didn't go deeper than that? No? No, okay, all right, so Eastern Michigan Max Crosby pretty damn good player right now? Oh yeah, George Gervin Hoyles, who played with
the Baltimore Orioles. Hell of a catcher. And I went with Grant Long from a basketball perspective rather than Earl Boykin's Western Michigan John Offerd all incredible linebacker who was an All American and was a high draft pick for the Miami Dolphins as was a Star. There was a captain there as a middle linebacker for some really good Miami teams. David Coole didn't have a pro career, but had a hell of a college career, and Danny de Kaiser hockey wise,
really couldn't come up with anybody else Grand Valley. This is for our friends who listened to us on Double Max ninety six point ONEFM. The game in Grand Rapids. I went with Brandon Carr Matt Thornton as a pitcher, That's what I got. Fair Estate. I went with Jason vander Lahn Harlan Hill Trophy winner. Jeff Blash played hockey there and then coached at Western, coached
with the Wings, is now a coach assistant coach with Tampa. Was just inducted into their Hall of Fame. Carmen fan Zone, who played five years in Major League Baseball. That's as deep as I got. Let me throw Greg Jennings in there for Western, Michigan Super Bowl champion, two time Pro bowler. Gosh darn it. Yeah, it was either him or John Offerdall, and I went with Offerdall. He was a badass in the middle man, I'm telling you, yeah, he was. He was really, really
good. I know it's too it's way too old for you. But John offerd All was a five time pro bowler and wasn't all pro too, and played from nineteen eighty six to nineteen ninety three and was rock solid. I mean people look at tackles right overall. Look at his tackles year after year, and look at his starts. He was very durable as well. All right, quick time out at don't forget.
