Get some facts and come back and seebe. Get some facts and come back and Seebee. Don't throw up salaries or other things. Get some facts and come back and Seebee. You can't handle the truth now told our players you need a bit more like a dog. We don't need a bunch of cats in here. Looking in the mirror, I look good. I got my extra bands on, I got my other shoes. Be a doll. We don't need no meals. We don't need no cats. We need more dolls.

Why are not a detain Oh you're not at the day we weren't good. There's no sense of asking me things about the game. I'm telling you we laid an egg. So I'm not gonna break it down for you. He sucks. He sucked when he laid an egg. That's all I have to say. Guys, I'm sorry. I'm not going to break it down for you. Nothing went well for us. It's on us. We have to figure it out. We went. There are certain teams that need to figure it out before their season ends. In the postseason. Welcome to the

final hour of Ex's Bros. Monday through Friday, six until nine across the Great State of Michigan. I'm Matt Sheppard. Ben is our producer. You can call him on the Meyer hotline eight six six eight three eight forty eight forty three. Speaking of Meyer, they've got some great deals coming up on BEEF. I need to tell you about that and we will. You can text us at sports Radio twenty one thousand. Tigers come back beat the Marlins in game one of their three games set six to five to the final.

They were down five to three in the eighth. They scored three times in the eighth inning. Andy and Binya Is with an RBI single Spencer Torkolson hit a two out, two strike, two run homer that proved to be the difference. Not that he's figured it out, not that he's turned the corner, not that he's become a different player, but sometimes after you get the first one, home runs can at times come in bunches. Two homers total in the last two games is not bunches, but it's a good sign.

Game two of that series is today NBA Boston BA Cleveland one O nine, one oh two. That means the Celtics are up three games to one. They are clearly the better team in the series thus far, and they are the more dominant team when Donovan Mitchell isn't playing. He was out with a calf injury yesterday so couldn't play. Cleveland was game man. Got to give him a ton of credit. But in the end, Jason Tatum thirty three, Jaylen Brown twenty seven too much for Boston. They should close it out.

I believe Tomorrow is Game five in Boston, OKC even their series with Dallas. They beat the Mavericks one hundred to ninety six despite a triple double from Luka Dancic eighteen twelve and ten. Jay Gilgis Alexander who Shaquille O'Neil thought should have been named the MVP and told Nikola Jokic that, which is pretty interesting, and Jokis just stood there, Okay, yeah, I appreciate your

opinion. I mean, fight back a little bit. But anyway. He had thirty four points, third straight game of thirty or more in the NHL. Carolina scored four times in the third second straight game they've staved off elimination. They beat the Rangers at Madison Square Garden four to one. The Rangers lead the series three games to two. Game six in Raleigh, North Carolina is Wednesday, night holme Ice. I've said it time and time again.

It's not as big a deal as home court in basketball, I believe, or I think home field in football I would rank I would rank them that way. I might be surprised if I looked at which league provides the best home field slash court slash ice advantage. But that's how I see it. Dallas blows out Colorado five to one, goes to show you it was in Denver. Wyatt Johnston had a couple of goals, including a shorthanded tally. Stars lead the series three games to one. PGA Championship will tee it up

in a couple of days. Looking forward to that. Scotty Scheffler is the favorite there, but you've got Brooks Koepka, who won his last tournament on the Live Tour. You've got Rory McElroy, who just won his fourth Wells Fargo Championship over the weekend. It's gonna be a fun tournament at the PGA. I'm looking forward to following that, Jared Goff signs or reportedly has signed the four year contract extension worth two hundred and twelve million dollars one hundred and

seventy million guarantee fifty three million per year. He's the second highest paid quarterback per season. He's the highest paid Lion of all time. Tampa kind of follows Suit, not in the same realm of money, but four year deal with Antoine Winfield as an extension. The cornerback joins Baker Mayfield, Mike Evans, Levante David with extensions this offseason for Tampa, So a big deal for

them. Plenty of discussion open for you regarding the extension for Jared Goff on the Meyer Hotline eight sixty six, eight three, eight forty eight forty three and the text line Sports Radio to twenty one thousand. It is open for you. Feel free. We've talked a lot about it, all right, and happy to discuss it more. But there's there's other news too. I'm to get into these mock drafts for the NBA. We've done it before for

the NFL, and for good reason. With all due respect, I can't speak to how good Nicola Tapitch is, the kid from Serbia, the eighteen year old guard from Serbia. Sorry, I mean I watched Donovan Klingen for Yukon this year and he was really good and Castle for really good they could be in the conversation for the Pistons at number five, So could Dalton Connect the six six two and thirteen pounds senior out of Tennessee, would solve some

issues. He was one of the best and most consistent scorers in the country this year. He's a first team All American. He averaged twenty two points per game. He shot close to forty percent from deep, and was incredible against Purdue in the Elite Eight when he scored thirty seven. I don't know if that translates to the NBA, but the Pistons don't have anybody like him from a college pedigree on their team, a guy who could shoot that well

from that deep that consistently. Now, maybe they like Ron Holland, the guard out of the League Ignite. Maybe they like Zachary Roschascher from France. I can't speak. Maybe Reed Shepherd would be better. He's the really good looking three point shooter from Kentucky. He shot fifty two percent from deep.

I mean, but he's he's slighter. He's six three, about one ninety I guess I think Connect at sixty six, two hundred and fifteen pounds is a little bit different in that regard, but you're going to see that coming out sometime soon. You're going to see more and more of the mock drafts and who the Pistons have their eye on. I said this yesterday, I'll say it again today. I'm not really disappointed that Detroit doesn't get the one overall pick, because if it's an Alexander Sar, I have no idea what

they're missing yet. Victor Webbin Yama was a little different. Look at his numbers when he was playing overseas a year ago before he came to the Spurs. If you look at Alexander Sar, the numbers are not going to wow you. You're not thinking to yourself, holy crap. You got to do everything you possibly can to get this kid. He's tall, he's slight, very much like Victor Webbinyama in that regard rim, protector length, all that

other stuff. His number's pale in comparison offensively, so I can't project how good he's going to be. And when there are people in the business who have a hard time projecting it, it tells me that it's legit that I don't have to worry about it either. But those are the things that are coming out oftentimes. Right now now, the schedule is not out for the NFL. I think it gets released tomorrow. We know who the Lion's opponents are, I just don't know in what order. Don't know exactly who they're

going to play on Thanksgiving Day, but we do know the choices. We'll get to that when we come back. Meyer hotline is open eight six six eight three eight forty eight forty three. not sure how you feel about interleague play. Some love it, others hate it. And began in nineteen ninety seven in the American League, has won more games and won the season series nineteen times, with one season ending in a time. A big reason is the Tiger's success against the National League. Detroit has finished with a winning record in interleague action in three of the last four years, last year's twenty one and twenty five record being the outlier.

They've won fifty four percent of their games since the interleague format took hold. That's among the best in baseball. This year in a small sample size, they have a winning record against the National League opponents, but strangely enough, a losing record all time against their opponent. This week, ban we're teaming off our tenth year at the Meyer LPGA Classic. FORER simply give get ready for the best tour yet to help neighbors in need while enjoying golf, food

Ben, I know we have someone waiting through the break. We appreciate their patience. Who is it, Yeah, it's Breton, Grand Rapids. Hey, Brett, thanks for joining us right there on WMAX ninety six point ONEFM. The game. How are you man? I'm doing fine, Chef. Hey, I got two questions,

all right. One is kind of facatious and the other one I'm serious. Do you believe golf is worth fifty three million dollars? I mean, no players wort that money, but I mean he's messed up our team out for four years with us that balery, But my my real question I want to ask you is with the lack I know you want to fan the basketball talent in this draft because nobody does. But with the lack of talent, as everybody who knows what they're talking about says, what do you think about

drafts? And Lebronni and half of Lebron come to us because he and all them kids how to be winners? Because whoever drafts Bron, he's getting Bron. Well, what do you think of that? All right, I'm going to be honest with you, Brett, totally honest. I hate it. You why because you don't think Lebron's a good player. You don't think Lebron would teach Kate and Ivy and all of them kids how to well, No, I think Lebron's a I think Lebron James is an unbelievable player. I

don't know if we've ever seen anything like him. I think Jordan's the greatest, but I don't I've never seen anybody at his at his age do what he's done. I think he's he's a robot. For crying out loud, but you're talking about the fifth the overall pick, drafting a guy Broddy James, who in the media guy to us he was listed at six' five, he's measured at six point one, and people who went and saw his draft his draft Combine said he looked really good. But nobody thinks he's going

to get drafted at all. Now the Lakers will probably take him at seventeen or whatever it is because they feel like they've got to keep Lebron James happy. That I ought to tell you something right there. If Lebron James needs his oldest son, who most people feel cannot play in the NBA, but you're gonna waste a first round draft pick on him just to keep him, I don't want that guy. Okay, Now, I got a question for a chef. What shows you that the Pistons have the ability to draft a

first round pick that high that turned out to be a winner. They haven't done it for years. Do you think do you think Kate Cunningham? Do you think Kate Cunningham's a good player? Do you think he was worthy of the draft pick? Yes? Or no? Why not? No? I don't why not? Yeah, stay on the court. I think he could have played down the stretch. I don't. I don't blame him for all of that. I do believe that Kate Cunningham could have played more games down

the stretch but didn't. That's my second half of my reason for bringing drafting Lebron Ronnie. We need to get rid of Williams. Monty's gotta go. Whatever he brought didn't work, and I don't think it's going to work. Waiting out his mega contract. We're going to eat that contract eventually. We're just going to keep thanking for three years so we don't have to eat so many years. Yeah, yeah, I do get what you're saying. Why not bring Lebron in as a player coach? Well, first of all,

he's already a player coach. I think he's a coach killer. I think he's a coach killer. I I can't. I can't. I couldn't do it. I really could. As great as he is, I couldn't do it. What's the contract you want for Lebron James, who's the Who's the

coach who's going to be able to handle that? Because he wants to be able to run the huddle, he wants to be able to have a say on player personnel, all that stuff that you're they're looking for a director, a president of basketball operations, and you want to bring in a guy who really wants to have that title and play at the same time. I,

personally, I don't. I think I think the Pistons would be better off with Lebron's brain trust running them in whatever we got now, because we used to be a good franchise and now we can't even get or tier for you just to come to us. Yeah, I it's Look, it's bred. It's really hard to argue that I could be a smart elegance. Say, how did it work out for Lebron in LA this year? Look at what he said about Darvin Ham when he was hired and after the first year,

and look at it he turned on him this past year. I do not trust him. I don't trust him one bit. I don't want a guy who just because so, here's what's gonna happen. Here's the dilemma that you would set yourself up with. Let's say your scenario. Now you draft Bronni James, who averaged five points per game. By the way, I'm one of the worst teams in the PAC twelve. You're gonna draft him at five

overall to appease Lebron James. Lebron James, who turned on his coach this year, seems to be a bit of a pariah in in this whole situation. What happens when you bench Bronni James when he doesn't play? How is Lebron James going to act? What's he going to say? Who is he going to turn against you? I think it's a terrible combination and a really dangerous mix for a young team that suddenly starts to take cues from a guy

who is out to do anything for himself and his son. I'm not gonna argue you with the Jeff because I I agree with what you're I'm just saying we got to try something different. Yeah, I get it. I think you're right, and I tried. I tried to go as far to left field as I could. Yea, I what you say? Yeah that's good. I mean, look, you tried. You didn't convince me, but if that's what you wanted to do, I mean, I'm glad you're not the GM or the owner, but you know you're you're thinking outside the box.

That's our biggest problem is the last person you mentioned. No, there's no doubt about that. There's absolutely no doubt problem. Yeah, but I think is when you say, when you say they have proven that they can't draft. I do think Kate Cunningham is a really good player. Whether you think he's better than Jalen Green or Evan Mobley or Scottie Barnes or Jalen Suggs or Josh Giddy. Those guys were all taken soon thereafter Kate Cunningham. That

was the Fron Wagner draft as well Jonathan kaminga for Golden State. I personally would take Kate Cunningham of those players, and I personally wanted Jalen Suggs. My point is is that for one, don't even get me on the NBA because I'll go to my grave thinking that the lottery's rake. I understand that needs a good player gets the number one over I'll pick. It's a year where you get to pick from a bunch of one bs and the one as Yeah, well that's why. And thanks for the phone call, Brett.

I really appreciate it. We can talk to NBA anytime you like. I just I that would scare the hell out of me. But I hear what you're saying. I think that draft turned out to have some pretty good players in it overall, But I still would take Kate Cunningham from what I've seen. Does that mean they can't judge talent? We can get into that on the other side of the break, stay with us Exes and Bros. Continues

Sometimes it gets a little lonely, so we'll be feel free to call them at the Meyer Hotline eighty six six eight three eight forty eight forty three. Good dude, they'll chat you up a little bit, make sure you get on the air and he'll read your text at sports

radio to twenty one thousand. Look back to what Brett and Grand Rapids, who was listening on WAX ninety six point ONEFM the game said about the NBA said, don't get me started on the NBA. I wish I could get him started in a longer segment, but I hear where he's coming from. But his point of the Pistons not knowing who to draft or not doing a good job of identifying talent, we need to keep things in a certain perspective. Let's take last year. We all wanted Victor Webbin Yama unanimous Rookie of

the Year. I wanted him to. I wish the Pistons had gotten him. I think it's a joke that they didn't. It's unfortunate, but it happens. And I mean, that's just the way the NBA Draft lottery is. We talked about this yesterday and the reason for it. After that, I mean, Brandon Miller's a good player, okay for Charlotte. After that, though, it's pretty limited really that draft provided, at least from an

impact standpoint two players. Scotty Henderson was pretty good for Portland. We don't see much of him, but he averaged fourteen points per game after that, Amen Thompson, Osar Thompson, Anthony Black. I mean, it's it's really limited, all right, So I think the Pistons were semi handcuffed there. Twenty twenty two, they draft Jade and Ivy. Who's the player you wanted instead of Jade and Ivy? Is there somebody that I'm missing I'm talking about

who they had a chance to take. Is there somebody out there that you think they drastically missed on? Because Ivy is better than Keegan Murray at least in his career so far. Tadlo Bankaro, Chad Holmgren, those are really good players. They've been very impactful players. That draft, from an impact standpoint is just a handful of guys. Twenty twenty one, we've already talked about it. Cad Cunningham. Is he better than Jalen Green? Well,

he's played fewer games. In fact, Cad Cunningham in three years has played one hundred and thirty eight games. Everybody in the top ten has played at least one hundred and fifty and most have played over two hundred, so I hear where he's coming from in that regard. But from a production standpoint, twenty points he leads all that entire draft class. All right, rebounds per game pretty good. I mean for a point forward, that's what I would

call him. Maybe you want to call him a guard at five boards per game, six and a half assists. The six and a half assists lead everybody in the draft class to thirty three percent three point shooter, as good as most other than Jonathan Kaminga. I don't think that was a bad pick. He may not be the player you expected as a one to one. He may not be Webin Yama. He may not be Anthony Edwards, and

there's no may about it. He's not. You go back to Troy weavers first draft in twenty twenty, you're still pissed off, as am I that they drafted Killian Hayes. Anthony Edwards was won, and then there's a strong drop off after that. Wiseman LaMelo Ball, although LaMelo Ball's bom pretty good, better than I thought he would be. Patrick Williams all the way down, Tyrese Haliburt in twenty twenty, I remember being on a show talking Tigers,

and somebody asked me, what about the NBA draft. I wanted Haliburt because I liked him at Iowa State, and people kind of pinched their nose at me a little bit. I don't know. He's turned out to be a pretty good player and they messed that up. There's no two ways about it. You admit that you messed it up when you said you're getting rid of him, and they did. They got rid of him Killian Hayes,

who was drafted seventh. Overall, there were a lot better players later in the draft, I might add for the Pistons, but see on top of the I think Brett's upset, for example, with a guy like a Cidipbe, who, by the way, conveniently was in the same draft. He was drafted on like nineteenth by Brooklyn. He was a good he would have been a good fit for this team and was a good fit for this team,

and they got rid of him. That's frustrating because you're getting rid of a good, productive player, and what do you have to show for it? Nothing? Can they evaluate talent? I don't think, Yeah, look, you're upset at that draft, and rightfully so, because they screwed it up period. There's no other way to say it. They screwed that up the other drafts. There's not much more you could do. Now. That

doesn't mean they've put together the right team. It doesn't mean that they've fixed any issues or that they have a long term plan that you agree with. I'm just saying from those draft picks, I don't think you're taking anybody other than the men they selected. I mean, look, I wish they had gotten the opportunity to draft Victor webbin Yama instead of Asar Thompson, But at five, Asar Thompson has been proven to be better than a lot of the

other players taken after him. Jade and Ivy. Same situation. You miss out on Bonkaro or home Grin, but you get Ivy. What I would do, what I'm hoping they do, is they get an established player for some of the young pieces they've acquired that another team sees has some type of salary cap issue. Another team sees the value in some of those young players that we just mentioned, and I don't think they're untouchable by any strategy and

is willing to give themselves a financial break. Give it to Detroit and get him return some of those young players, I think they're too young. It'd be great if they were all growing together and we see this massive upside like we did with the nineteen eighty four Pistons or nineteen eighty four Tigers and the Pistons of the early eighties, where we see them coming together and then you filter in some of those established vets. I don't think many people see that.

Let's go to the Meyer hotline eight sixty six, eight three, eight forty eight forty three. Then who's waiting for us? Danny and Brighten? Hi, Danny, how are you today? Chepie Austin And how are we doing today? Good that we're talking. What's going on? That's what I'm talking about. So I told bendis the NBA, with out of doubt, is my least favorite professional league. And you know, one of the things that you know that Brett said about the letter, I just kind of want

to touch on. I don't know why there's a lottery, and your buddy Sean Bealishan talked about this earlier. The NFL doesn't do a lottery. They seem to do okay, And I know the NBA and the NHL supposedly put a lottery in because they want to avoid tanking. But I think it does the opposite, because more people tank because teams like Atlanta can have a chance at getting the number one pick, whereas they shouldn't. So that's just one

of my own personal bugget boos. But really, the you know, I was listening to talking about the distance and the draft and and I cannot dispute what you're saying about the players. But where my issue is is, let's say four or five years ago, is to the Pistons were middling around in mediocrity. They were kind of aligned with teams like Orlando in Oklahoma City, in Minnesota, in the Knicks and Cleveland. And look at those teams now and look at us. They're not better than us. They're way way better

than us. And I can't believe that. You know, every year they drafted, but you know they drafted higher than us. I just think they drafted much much better than us. Absolutely, you're one hundred percent right there. Now. The only thing I would argue is the lottery. Yes, it gives more teams a chance to quote unquote tank. I mean Atlanta lost sixth straight at the end of the year to get in that type of position.

It's hard to do that in the NFL, when you play eight guys and you end up putting many of them in street clothes to bring in the last six guys on your roster playing in the final games of the season. It's easier to do that in the NBA tank than it would be in the NFL, where you're carrying fifty three guys and you're dressing forty eight every Sunday. Hard to tank in that regard, Okay, But the NBA, I think they get it. You know, who are you going to upset if

you're quote unquote tanking. You're gonna upset certain guys who are at the end of your bench who aren't going to be on your team anyway. Now, I don't think that's a big deal. So I don't compare those two leagues. I don't think it's a fair comparison. Now, your point about these teams being much better than the absolutely when you watch the Pistons and then you watch teams in the NBA playoffs. Right now, I don't care who it

is. Take Cleveland if you want you recognize I assume just how far away they are, right, I mean, you're not catching you're not catching. You mentioned Cleveland and New York, and New York could struggle the last couple of games in their series against Indiana. Take Indiana if you want detruch, and not even close to that, because they don't have the depth that these teams have. They just don't. Yeah, and you know what, check you mentioned the Tigers of eighty four. You know one of my you know

we're similar age, one of my favorite teams of all time. But when you look at the eighty four Tigers, you could look at the eighty one and the eighty two Tigers and you could say, you know what, I can see what's happening there. I can see that these guys it's not a matter of if, it's just a matter of when, because you know that they're going to be good. They just need a piece or two. The pistons are they are a hot mess, and they don't they need all the

pieces. And you know, after five or six years of you know, mediocrity to just awfulness, that just should not be the case. And I think that that's why, and I think Wildjo actually wrote this last week. You just need to put the whole thing in a dumpster, can blow it all up and start all over against You can't do worse. Yeah, and he's right about that. I've said this for a long time now, before that article and before we even talked. And thanks for the phone call,

Danny. It's great stuff. I would keep two guys. There's two guys that I really want, Kate Cunningham and Jalen Durham. Everybody else I'm open. Come to me with a great offer and let's move on. I'm not married to them. Here's what I would tell you about the eighty four Tigers, and yes, it culminated in a championship. They won one hundred and four games that year. They were the best team in baseball and it wasn't even close. In nineteen seventy eight, you saw this team start to turn

the corner. They went from seventy four wins in seventy seven to eighty six wins in seventy eight. Seventy nine, they had eighty five wins the following year. No, I think it was nineteen eighty one. Eighteen eighty one they were sixty and forty nine, okay, because that was a strike shortened season. Eighty two they win eighty three games, eighty three they lose to Baltimore near the end. Baltimore was so good that year. Detroit had ninety

two wins that season. You saw it coming over a six year span before it culminated in the championship. The only thing that bothers me a little bit is I wish they could have kept it going a little bit longer. I still think they were one of the better teams going, but there was a time, Danny, there was a time where people started to question certain members of that team and whether or not they were a long term solution. Case in point, my good friend Kirk Gibson, one of the best teammates I've

ever worked with. It's been a privilege. He hit two twenty seven in nineteen eighty three, and there were people going red flag, red flag,

and the blame game was going. I obviously didn't have social media back then, didn't have sports talk show radio either, but there were a lot of people willing to give up on him in nineteen eighty three when he struggled at the plate, and had they done what many people perhaps wanted and moved on from him, they would have missed a twot eighty two twenty seven homer ninety one RBI campaign in the World Championship. So there are there were signs.

You and I remember them vividly. It was fun to watch, it was exhilarating. It brought us together all the great things. And then nineteen eighty seven was pretty damn good too, and they won ninety eight games. But there were times during that build up that none of us knew was going to culminate in a championship. We were hopeful, but we didn't know. There were times during that time, during that build up where players were questioned,

the direction was questioned. Bill Ljoy was questioned to keep that crew together at a certain time in that team's history, hoping, wondering whether or not it's going to be a championship caliber team. I don't think the Pistons are there. That's not the point of the example. What the example is is our young guys growing together. We don't see that with the Pistons. Let's use

the example of the Pistoons. When you get Isaiah Thomas, and then you had Joe Dumars, and you had Dennis Rodman, and you add John Sally. Those were the guys who were the core drafted players that the team used for its championship run, multiple championship run, competing for championships, built completely different than the two thousand and four World Championship Piston team. Maybe this team can't do that. Maybe this team can't use the young players that they have

right now as that core build. Maybe there's only two guys, maybe you think it's three. Maybe one of the guys isn't even on this team. My frustration is you're gonna get a fifth overall pick. You're gonna get another young guy. So I wouldn't have a problem with Dalton connect at least we've seen him at the NCAA level and he's a little bit older twenty two to

twenty three. Let's see how he addresses a need for this team instead of going to get another forum player at age nineteen who we have no idea and you're gonna have to wait three four years if that, to get it done. I think Danny and other people's point are valid. This team has improven that it's got the right direction. They haven't made the right moves. They need to make more than one right move to be more entertaining and more competitive.
