Second hour of the program. Welcome back Hexes and Bros. Throughout the great state of Michigan on the Michigan Sports Network. We're with you Monday through Friday from six until nine on many of these great station affiliates. The Huge Show comes your way Monday through Friday in the afternoon from three until six. Make sure you're checking up my friend Bill Simonson. How do you define pressure?

In the dictionary, it says continuous physical force exerted on or against an object by something in contact with it. The use of persuasion, influence, or intimidation to make someone do something. I think it's self induced. Oftentimes we all feel it. We all do it to ourselves because many of us are expect ourselves to succeed. That's fine, that's great. I think could be a very good thing. How you handle it might be a little different.

The pressure on Major League Baseball executives is intense. It's not just the players, it's not just the manager and coaches, but the front office too, especially as the trade deadline looms. The trade deadline is July thirtieth. ESPN Plus recently listed sixteen, so more than half of Major League Baseball's executives who are under quote unquote pressure to get it right. They listed ten and then six honorable mentions. If you will, where do you think Scott Harris is

somewhere between twenty and thirty. He's not listed in the top sixteen, so you're right, somewhere between twenty and thirty. Actually between seventeen and thirty. I don't want to read too much into stuff, but I can't help but deduct a certain feeling when I read articles like this. What do you read into that? Because Jeff Passon, who's a pretty well respected baseball writer, He's not John Paul Morosi as far as I'm concerned, but he's good.

He's the one who lists the executives who are under pressure the most pressure. You could probably guess a lot of them. Brian Cashman with the Yankees. It's a team that was off to a phenomenal start and was up in the division, but has struggled mightily as of late and now rest three games back in that division. So he's got to get it right. Ross Atkins, he's the general manager of Toronto. It's almost close to the opposite. Toronto

is so far back. There's sixteen games back in the division. They're eight games under five hundred. He's got to get it right in who he sells off and who he gets in return. He's got to get it right because he has to figure out if it's worth keeping guys like Vladimir Guerrero Junior, Bo Bishett, Jordan Romano. There's different directions he can go in. He's got to make sure that he the right path. Gross Point native Chris gets.

He's the general manager of the Chicago White Sox. Well, he has to get it right because his team is so bad outside of Colorado, probably the worst team in baseball. He's got to get it right because he has two very attractive, tradable chips, Garrett Crochet and Luis Robert Jr. Now Crochet is a power pitching lefty who is a starter for the first time in his career this year. But you talk about value, he've an inb incredibly

explosive arm out of your bullpen. Or he could be a very legitimate starter for you and from the left side, Robert Junior, you get him in the right situation around the right people, he can be a superstar for you and you and I talked about this yesterday. The difference between a star and a superstar. He can be a superstar, so Chris gets has got to get it right. Jerry Depoto, he's the president of baseball ops for Seattle. They had a huge lead, a double digit lead at one point in

their division. It's down to just a handful of games over Houston do much in part because of how well Houston has played as of late, and because Seattle has well. They've struggled offensively. The lead is down to two games in the AL West. Their run differential for Seattle is just a plus four. The pitching is there, the offense not especially. Julio Rodriguez is only beat in two forty seven and his hombe percentage is under three three hundred.

That's Geo Orchelli stuff. Another name in there, Dave Dombrowski for the Phillies. Why because he's got to keep it on the tracks right. Peter Bendix, who's the president from the Miami Marlins again trying to reboot. They got rid of Luis Arise to San Diego. They are starting over the trade. Jazz Chisholm, who can be polarizing a lot of different things. JJ Piccolo or Piccolo rather for the Kansas City Royals. Piccolo's got himself a really nice

cores, right. He made a couple of nice pickups in Seth Lugo and Michael Waka, don't screw it up, get some bullpen, help see what happens. And there are others. I'm not going to go through every single one of them. The bottom line is, as Trent mentioned, Harris is not in that quote unquote pressure cooker. Chris Antonetti is from Cleveland, David Stearns is from the Mets. AJ Preller is for the Padres. Matt Arnold is from the Brewers. Jed Hoyer is for the Cubs. There's no Scott

Harris. I'm not suggesting he should be in there. I'm asking you what you read into that that he's not. If at all, it's too bad. Isn't there a part of front office personnel who feel like if they're mentioned in this, that means there are certain expectations for their team. The Phillies, the Yankees, the Guardians, the Royals, their front office guys are in there because they got a shot. There's something that needs to be done

to put them over the proverbial hump and give them that legitimate shot. Without disrupting their core. How much of this do you think says more about Alavila than it does about Scott Harris. In other words, Scott Harris gets a little more leverage, a little more leashed because of the situation he took over. You know, like maybe if this was next season and the Tigers are in this position, he would be on that list. Yeah, early in

his tenure. I think that's fair answer me. This. Has it not been in early tenure at least so far for Craig Breslow with the Red Sox? Has it not been early for Peter Bendix for Miami? It's just his first year? Yeah, that's fair. Yeah, Harris has been here for a couple of years. I don't I don't look at it. It's not it's not that he's he should be under pressure for losing his job. That's not the point of at least my angle. My point is the pressure of

doing something getting everyday players. Yeah, and that's not even mentioned in this. It's not that you've got to make sure you're either keeping Terrork schooble or making him happy or trading and getting a lot for it. No, I'm not looking for for necessarily that it's just that it's it's not a mention because the Tigers are stuck in the middle. They're not going to make any moves to make themselves considerably better, and they don't have to necessarily, you know,

regroup with anything. They're just kind of floating. That's the disappointment for me. The Meyer hotline is open for you eight six six eight three eight forty eight forty three. All right, well, can we come back and absolutely ridiculous, I think a ridiculous, a borderline stupid argument for one player having a better golf season than the number one player in the world. We're back with more after this on Exis and Bros. Bill Simonson Here from my

golf, all right. I love the sport. People at Tollymore love the sport as well, and it's pretty obvious by the layout that they have at their championship courses Tullymore and saying ives you want to experience the best, right, And for me, when I play golf, I judge a lot based on greens, based on tea boxes, based on the entire atmosphere, the challenges, the fairness. Am I going to enjoy the round? Right? You can go out there and you can play the best course courses in the

world, but you're gonna come back shoot over one hundred. That's a miserable day. You want to enjoy your day? Well, Tullymore makes it enjoyable because of how picturesque the courses are and because it is a fair round of golf. You can stay and play at some of their more relaxing beautiful villas there. Heck, you can rent places there for long term and you can look at buying property there near Tullymore. Some outstanding opportunities there, both on

the course and off it. You want to enjoy your outings. What best place is there than Tullymore? There is and I was talking to a buddy of mine not too long ago, a guy I work with, and he said, me and my friends figure out where we're going to go for our annual golf outing. They picked Tullymore for the second time. It's the first time they've ever chosen a golf course a resort more than once. They like to go different places. They enjoyed Tullymore so much the last time that they

had to go back, and they were not disappointed. You won't be disappointed either. Go to tullymoregolf dot com. Make your reservation today. I'm back with you on EXUS and Bros. I'm Matt Sheppard Trent Vally as our producer. Give us a call on them all our hotline eight sixty six eight three eight forty eight forty. You can text the program sports Radio to twenty one

thousand. I was just talking about Tollymore and speaking of golf and this would be a great place to have an event, some type of PGA Tour event. But I was reading something the other day that made me do a double take, and I'm like, wait a minute, are you just writing this to get clicks? And if you are, congratulations, I just clicked on it. But a CBS sportswriter wrote, why Bryson Deshambo, not Scottie Scheffler

is having the best Major season of twenty twenty four. This to me is, look, I get why we sometimes get caught up in the moment, and Bryson Deshambo has really done a nice job. I think of turning his persona and reputation around, all right. And I was rooting for him in the last Major. I thought it was I thought it was all some that he was able to pick up and win. But there's no better golfer in

the world than Scotty Scheffler. He writes about the comparison of shots taken and his numbers to par in the majors, and it's to Shambo with eight hundred and twenty four total shots and a minus twenty eight to par, And that actually Scotty Scheffler took eight hundred and thirty six shots sixteen under to par in the majors. Now you can use numbers. We've talked about this with baseball all the time, all the time, that we get numbered to death,

that it's ridiculous how often we use numbers in various things. And because we use them, we are bringing that stuff up to the athletes who play the sport. Personally, I think it has a lot to do with the struggles of Spencer Turklesen. I think he overthinks things. It's just my opinion. You've got guys you know you're missing ninety. I think these guys read it. I think they see it on the scoreboard where you see Miles per I know for a fact there are certain guys. Matt Manning's one of them.

Matt Manning is one of them. When he pitches, he oftentimes will look at the scoreboard or just beneath the scoreboard of America Park, which is where they have the speed of the pitch, and trying to figure out am I getting to where I need to with my fastball instead of a field thing. It's a numbers thing, so we get caught up in that, especially in baseball, but golf we do it too. Obviously, lengked off the te what club you're using, what's the shape, what's the score to par?

There's so many numbers in golf that you have to deal with as well. Not as many as baseball, but still there's quite a few. So these people are talking about or this writer is talking about Bryson to Shambo on how well he's done. And again, there's nothing against Bryson to Shambo. Think of this though, Scotty Scheffler. No one's comparing Bryceon to Shambo, even though he's a hell of a player. No one's comparing him right now to

the season equivalent to that of Tiger Woods. And Tiger Woods has had some of the greatest, if not the greatest seasons of all time. His two thousand campaign will never be duplicated, right and yet Scotty Scheffler is compared to that Tiger Woods in two thousand at the point in the middle of June or end of June, closer to the end of June just a few weeks back.

Tiger Woods six wins, Scotti Scheffler six majors and one, Woods three, Scheffler two, Top five Woods twelve, Scheffler ten score to average. Scheffler actually beats him in that regard the amount of money earned, the percentage of the money earned. Woods and Scheffler really close in that regard. It's a stunning comparison. We're talking about some of the greatest, arguably the greatest player of all time. I think it's Jack Nicholas, but Tiger Woods it's

one A, one B for me. Never seen a more dominating sports performance I think than what Tiger Woods did in his career during that one special season. And he had to deal with some really good players, so does Scott Sheffler, and Bryson de Shambo is one of them. But to try and compare that Bryson de Shambo and I get it that it's just the majors, but I mean, Scotti Scheffer's got two major wins. He's done something that Tom Watson hasn't done, or it hasn't been done since Tom Watson for for

decades. He's being mentioned with some of the greatest golfers of all time his season and he's still got time for a third major with a British Open or the Open Championship. And you're going to try to tell me that Bryson de Shambo has actually had better success. Come on, Yeah, I fear that that claim is a bit prisoner of the Moment's stupid. You mentioned clicks. I don't know if it's that or if it's just we just want to talk of it. We fall in love with the most recent thing. But I

mean to draw comparison across sports. It'd be like the Celtics has won the championship. No One's sitting around making the claim that Tatum's the best player in the world. You know what I mean, When the Bad Boy Pistons won the championship, no one was sitting around claiming Isaiah was better than Jordan at that time or Magic, right, because those guys were still on top.

We don't need to. I mean, just because Bryson won recently doesn't mean we got to forget about what Scotty Scheffler did quite literally a month ago.

It's okay to keep things in perspective and instead of always wanting to say this guy's having the greatest of this, or this guy is the greatest of that, to put it in context and say he's having as good a season as We're always rushing to make sure we're telling people this is the greatest player of this generation or rival certain other players, instead of just appreciating it for what it is now, I would say this, you're exams sample of the Pistons

with Isaiah back and the Bad Boys, I would say this, I think it's an underrated team in terms of among best teams of all time. I don't think it gets it's just due. I'd agree with you one hundred percent. And I don't say that just because we're Detroiter's. I say that because I truly believe that. I mean, I think there was a run there for the Detroit Pistons that was as good in a short period of time, maybe a shorter window. Not the Bulls with six, but the Pistons in

a shorter window was as good as just about any of that era. And I don't think they get nearly enough credit here. I think Bryson de Shamba, who I like, is getting too much credit. When we come back. Credit to Patrick Kane, he helped with a sales pitch to bring in a new Red Wing. We'll let you hear what he said when we come back. He would hear from my good friends Ed Meyer. Now, the Meyer Hot Deal Days are happening all week, big offers all over the store.
