Then is our producer call M on the Myer Hotline eight sixty six eight three eight forty eight forty three eight six six eight three eight forty eight forty three. I like to say that twice. And here's the reason.
I listened to Radio two. When I'm driving around and I hear people on whether it be news or sports, give out numbers and they say it so quickly there's no way you can either write it down or remember it. They say it way too fast. We were talking just before the break about about quarterbacks. We'll get to that more coming up. I don't know. Did you see the Super Bowl odds from the Athletic I don't know if you had a chance to see that, Ben No, I did not. NFC.
What team in the NFC do you think has the best Super Bowl and playoff odds? San Francisco makes a lot of sense, right, Yeah, it would definitely be San Francisco. They reached the postseason the Super Bowl year ago. Second is Philly, then Dallas, then Atlanta and then the Lions. Wow, yeah, followed by the Packers. All those over fifty percent Lions at sixty nine point seven percent. They've got Atlanta at seventy three and
a half percent. They use some NFL projection model that forecasts the quality of each team, simulates each game of the regular season and the playoffs until the Super Bowl champion emerges. The process is repeated one hundred thousand times to provide a realistic measurement. San Francisco, Philly, Dallas, Atlanta, Detroit.
Based on those numbers, you would figure San Francisco wins the West. That doesn't surprise you, right, No, that's who you would pick going in as long as they're healthy, that's who you will pick to win the ANFC West, Right, Okay? Then Philadelphia, that's not surprising. One would think that they would be the favorite to win the NFC East. Atlanta there must be the favorite to win the NFC South. I mean, based on these numbers, Detroit the favorite to win the NFC North. Dallas is a
wildcard, and Green Bay is a wildcard. AFC, who would you think? Of course, Kansas City, they're the Super Bowl champions. Then Baltimore, the third one will stun you, Yets at sixty five point three percent. Get out of here, Nope, they got. They got the Jets, then the Bills, then the Bengals, and then the Chargers and Texans. They actually have what is it, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight nine teams with fifty percent chance or
better. Denver is dead last in the AFC, and in the NFC the team dead last is Washington. All right, there's your there's your Super Bowl and playoff odds. According to the athletic I know, we got some texts that we want to get to, and we will get to those. Anytime somebody sends the text or makes a phone call, we get you in as quickly as possible. I do want to remind you, though, and case you missed it yesterday of some quick sports headlines. Tigers win the series in
Arizona, but the fall in the finale sixty four. Matt Manning allowed four runs ten hits in five innings. Tyler Holton is the one who took the loss. Detroit is now back to five hundred. They're six and a half back of Cleveland in the Division. They begin a three game stending Kansas City. Reese Olsen throws against Michael Waka today. Cleveland, by the way, the reason they're six and a half back. Cleveland keeps rolling. They just swept the Twins Will Brennan with a walk off homer. NBA, as I
just mentioned, studying Game seven in the East and in the West. In the East, Indiana went into New York and opened up a proverbial can on the New York Knicks. They could not They shot seventy six percent did the Pacers in the first half. That's incredible, sixty seven percent for the game. Both those percentages the highest ever in an NBA playoff game. I didn't get along real well with Rick Carlisle when he was here, but you know what, you got to give him his due. What a coaching job by
Rick Carlile. Pacers are the sixth seed for crying out loud, and you could argue that they had no business, no business whatsoever in winning that series. Really impressive, and Carlisle lied into his team. They were down three to two, they went at home. Not many gave them a chance at all to win the series, especially when you got to go back to Madison Square guard. As I mentioned earlier, it was over seventy two percent of
the game seven victories were by the home team in NBA history. Indiana upsets Milwaukee, who was the three seed, and then New York the two seed. That is a daunting task and they got it done. And now they'll try and do it against Boston. Starts on tomorrow night in Boston. Game one. So while Tyres Halburton, Palscal Siakam and Miles Turner and the rest of the Pacers steamroll, and I mean that, steamroll one thirty to one
oh nine was the final steamroll New York. And granted New York he had plenty of injuries, try not to use that as an excuse, but they did watch their best player, Jalen Brunson leave with an injury. We knew Julius Randall dislocated his right shoulder in January, so he wasn't going to be in there. Mike Mitchell Robinson, the center, missed fifty games as well. Former pissed him. Bogdanovich got hurt during the first round series against Philadelphia
og Ononobi. That's the one that I think really hurt him. He was out since Game two with a strained left hamstring. Return for Game seven only played five minutes. Josh Hart, who was questionable, had abdominal pain. He was able to play a little bit. Brunson leaves because he fractured his hand. It's a short staffed next team, I get it, but that doesn't change the fact that they were healthier earlier in the series for the most part, and they couldn't come through. So the Knicks are out, Pacers
Advance and SODA's Minnesota. So we told you the numbers, the impressive numbers by Indiana. Well, Minnesota had the largest comeback at the half in a game seven history, down fifteen in Denver at one point down twenty in the third, they went on a fifty four to twenty four run despite some fouol of trouble, despite Nikola Jokic going for thirty four and twenty and Jamal Murray going for thirty five, they won it. Ninety eight ninety. They're into
the finals of the Western Conference against Dallas. On the course, Zander Schoffley nell At Korda both winners, and Nellie Korda's won six to seven. Of course, she's a former winner at the Meyer Classic and she hopefully will be there this year. Quick time out, then back with more NFL talk in a moment. This is Exis and Bros. Through forty five games, the Tigers pitching has been leading the way. The Tigers are on pace to give up one and ten fewer runs than a year ago. The offense has lagged, but we're starting to see what the upside might be. In Arizona, the Tigers scored thirteen runs in Game one. That was the third time in three weeks the Tigers had scored ten or more in a game. In back to back games in Arizona, they had a six run inning, making it three times in seven games it scored six or
more in an inning. Having explosive innings and games with double digit run production are very good signs. The upside of this offense is a lineup that has more length more threats one through nine with Seen It four a few games, I will look for more game to game consistency. We were talking earlier about the contracts of quarterbacks, and I said, Trevor Lawrence and Dak Prescott won't be long before to ataga Aloa Jordan Love get theirs and fifty million. Is is that that line that agents are going to want to draw. And you can't necessarily blame him because other agents
have gotten their clients that fifty million dollars. And I said, and the reason they're going to get it, the reason they've got like Trevor Lawrence, even though his numbers are not eye popping. It's not that he's not a bad a good quarterback. I'm not saying he's a bad quarterback, but you know, for that price, really, but this is the reason. It's because there aren't that many good ones. And I said, do me a favor with a buddy and just kind of volleyball back and forth. How many
quarterbacks you would want? Don't give me any name. That's not the purpose of the exercise. Give me a name you would feel comfortable, you would feel comfortable with taking snaps for you every Sunday. Who would that be? I said, there's not that many? Your volley back and forth? How many are you gonna get? So Ben and I will do that exercise right now. I'm going to give Ben the first chance. This is not a ranking, right, Okay, this is not your top six, my top
six whatever. I want you to count? How many we get? All right? So let's just go back and forth quickly. And again, this is not a ranking. All I want you to do is name a guy you feel comfortable with under center. So go Josh Allen. Josh Allen's a good one. Joe Burrow, Mahomes absolutely, Jalen Hurts hmm, Justin Herbert, Yeah, Lamar Jackson, let's see. Uh you already said Jalen Hurts, right. Uh. Kirk Cousins. Wow, that surprises me. Okay, Kirk Cousins, Jared Goff, Matthew Stafford, good one. Uh,
Brock Party, Dak Prescott hmm okay, Jordan Love oh boy. Uh, we're getting down there to Uh, I would say, okay, c J. Stroud and then and my last one would probably be Trevor Lawrence. Okay, I'm done. Okay, So that's a minute just took you. When I have one minute and two seconds to do that and I was done? Do you have another one that I may have missed? Not that I can think of. We got through what like twelve Maybe I'm very many compared to
the like the fifty or whatever you said. You said, Trevor Lawrence, I got one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen. I got fifteen. Oh okay, just a little more than I thought I would, though I thought I thought it might start at twelve or stop at twelve. Right, Neither one of us had Kyler murray On. There by the way, neither one of us had will Levis. Those were two other
names, or even a Baker Mayfield. Oh yeah, true. So perhaps perhaps I'm wrong, Perhaps this goes a little bit deeper than I thought. Now I would tell you this, Cousins for me is not there, and Lawrence for me is not there just yet. This, by the way, this little exercise does not mean that these players are great. You and I are not suggesting that, because if you want to use that phrase, you cut it. There's probably I would guess maybe six or seven who I would
think fall into that category. That's not even the point of the exercise. The point is there's just not that many, and there's a lot of them who took snaps a year ago. We have any texts regarding the Jared Goff comments, Yeah, it says if the Lions just get to the playoffs and no Super Bowl berth this year or especially next year, fans will turn on golf. Why then only the two years. Do we think that's the window? Quote end quote? Is that what we believe? We believe that that's
the window for Jared Goff and the Lions. I'm a little confused why this year or next because of the financial ramifications, perhaps which I believe in a few years actually helps him a little bit. But look, I mean, he just signs it. I think maybe some people feel like it's based on Could it be based on age? He's twenty nine, You don't feel like he could do it at age thirty two? That could be part of it, And maybe I see where you're coming from there. I would remind you
that Kirk Cousin's thirty five. He just signed that massive deal in Atlanta. So I don't think the window for Jared Goff is over after two years, but maybe the texture feels like the window for the Lions is. I'm not going to go that far, I believe. Let me ask you, do you believe in windows of opportunity for teams? In other words, do you believe the San Francisco forty nine ers and their window of opportunity is now? Could you not use that argument for other teams? The Buffalo Bills and their
window of opportunity or maybe the Rams and it's maybe got another year. Philadelphia's window of opportunity. That's why they're head coaches in to a certain extent, so much trouble. What about Dallas? The window of opportunity? Is it right now? With Prescott and Parsons and Lamb and those guys, really good teams are able to build on the fly, continue to add where they're needed with in the NFL anyway, I used to be a big believer in window
of opportunity. I've changed my mind about that. You have to ask yourself how big is the window, what's the years, what's the span? And I know there are a lot of factors there, but what do you take into account there? What's the window of opportunity? And if they have it, what prevents it from continuing? I believe if the if you feel like the Lion's window of opportunity based on the text, is over the next two years, if the same man is in charge, and he will be based
at least on his contract status, the same man is in charge. I'm talking about Brad Holmes. Even if you want to go Dan Campbell, that's fine too. Both are extensions. So if that window of opportunity is there, and those same guys who got you to the opening of the window in the first place remain in place. Why wouldn't you believe it goes longer? How can you say that the window of opportunity closes after a couple of years when the same guys who got you to believe in that window being open to
the first place remain in place. So I don't believe that. What was the window of opportunity for the Green Bay Packers during the Brett Faiverra He was there for a long time and they won a lot of division titles, and then it carried over with Aaron Rodgers. How is that window of opportunity? You see what I'm saying? It kind of It depends on the circumstance.
I get it. But the people in charge, if you truly believe in them and they've got the right mindset on the right people, I believe it is there, and I truly believe the Lions have that Meyer hotlines open for you eight six six eight three, eight forty eight forty three weeks to more of your texts and your phone calls on the other side on exes and bros.

Yeah. This one's in response to the last segment about golf or fans turning on golf. It says my point was fans will turn on golf within two years if they don't get to a Super Bowl based on what they saw this year, just like they did on Maglio for what he did for the Tigers in two thousand and six and never got back. They turned on him too. He had the greatest year or great his Tigers season ever in two thousand
and seven. Okay, interesting, it's good to say that. To say that magli Ordonia's had the greatest Tiger season ever is a little bit of a stretch, though. Ever, magli Ardonia's was. Look he was, he was fantastic, he was. He finished second in the MVP in that two thirds. Obviously, this person knows what they're talking about in that sense.
Alex Rodriguez beat him out for the MVP cheater. But magli Ardonias, in case people are unaware, he led the league in hitting that year three sixty three, led the league in doubles with fifty four, had two hundred and sixteen hits. Yeah, that's that's really impressive. To say it's the greatest season a Tiger has ever had is not true at all. Miguel Cabrera,
for crying out loud, won the Triple Crown in twenty twelve. The following year, when he won his second consecutive MVP, he led the league in hitting, led the league in on base and slugging and OPS and OPS plus while hitting forty four home runs. Let's not get too carried away, here just because it happened recently, all right. Alan Trammel in nineteen eighty seven finished second in the MVP hit balloting. He hit three forty three drove in
one hundred and five runs. And if you want to look even further, I mean, go ahead and look back at what Ty Cobb did. Arguably the greatest hitter of all time led the league in hitting how many times twelve three point fifty three twenty four three seventy seven, three eighty two four nineteen four oh nine two three eighty nine. Stop with the uh greatest season of any Tiger ever. Sorry, doesn't happen. I like Magle ordoniez very good player, not even close to being the best Tiger of all time, not
even close to being on my all time Tiger team. Quite honestly, go back and look at Hank Greenberg's numbers, Charlie Garringer's numbers. Now, we're not going We're not going there. I love the passion I do. I think it's awesome. I love the fact that there are certain certain guys who you don't feel good enough respect for what they did. And I think if that's the case, you would be absolutely right there. There's no doubt about
it. George Kell won a batting title too with the Tigers back in nineteen forty nine when he hit three forty three. He finished eighth in the MVP that year. Ted Williams won it that year, but he finished behind guys like Phil Rizzuto and Joe Page for crying out loud. So that's the kind of stuff that needs to be rectified two from a mindset standpoint. But let's not Let's not go overboard when it comes to things like that, Okay, I mean, it's just the point is that magli Ordoniez was fans turned on
him a little bit. You got a better memory than I do when it comes to that. I don't remember fans turning on Maglei Ordonias in two thousand and eight, which surprised me considering he hit three seventeen that year and three ten the next. How did fans turn on Maglei or Donia's when he hit twenty one bombs and drove in one hundred and three runs. That to me is odd. But if you remember that happening, I'll take your word for it, and that's quite honestly unfair. Should not have turned on him if
that were the case. Speaking of Tigers who are who are doing well, Tyler Alexander lost a perfect game in the eighth inning he pitches for the Rays. Now a bloop single spoiled it. He was five out short of what would have been the twenty fifth perfect game in baseball history. This happened Friday night. Tyler Alexander, former Tiger, former TCU Hornfroy retired the first twenty two Blee Jays he faced before Danny Jansen looped a single to shallow right field.
So hats off to Tyler Alexander. Hope he continues to do well. He's a good dude. Anymore techs Bett, Yeah, we got one more, it says. I think Chris Ilige gets too much hate in this town. His dad left him two messes with contracts and zero farm systems on either team. Chris has spent money with players, gms, and facilities. Mike Ilich was a horrible owner in nineteen ninety two to two thousand and four. That's from Freddy. I'm surprised that he has that take What were the contract
that you're talking about, the Miguel Cabrera contract. I suppose that could be the contract that he's referring to. When it comes to the Tigers, I'm not sure what contracts he left him that were so cumbersome. Look look at the hires and look at the payrolls and who the money's going to go ahead? And you're trying to tell me that that's Mike Gillich's fault. No, it's not. I would ask Freddy this, how much do you think the
Detroit Tigers should be spending on players? I know what he's done with facilities. He's improved Lakeland's facilities. That's good. They improve the locker room and the weight room for the Tigers. It looks beautiful. They did stuff with the wall. Fine, how does that get you wins? Tell me that how much do you think they should be spending? Be honest, look at what other teams are spending. And I know money doesn't mean everything. It's
how you spend the money. Where are you spending the money? That's the most important thing. Okay, just tell me how much you think in what ballpark do you think they should be spending? Because I think it should be somewhere. I'm not asking them to spend over two hundred million dollars. I'm not asking for a payroll that exceeds the luxury tax. But don't tell me that one hundred and four one hundred and six million dollars or whatever it may
be, is suitable for this market. It's not. It should be about one forty to one fifty. One to one fifty would put you in the range of the Rockies, the White Sox, and the Diamondbacks. Instead, you're in the same ballpark as the Brewers and the Tampa Rays. Again, Tampa does a good job spending, but remember they trade their guys away and
then they bring in younger players. I'm not buying that, okay. I'm just you're not going to convince me that you're gonna blame everything on Mike Gillich because Mike Gilich got you there by the way he was willing to spend. So you're gonna sit here and try to tell me that everything that's going on, the reason that he has had issues is because of his father. Really,
it's a little surprising according to most. With Little Caesars and Olympia and the Casino and the Tigers and the Red Wings, he's worth three point eight billion dollars. But you're gonna tell me that it's all on his dad. Come on, don't give me that. I've admitted and I've said about I was first and foremost about a lot of the things that he has done for
this team that people don't always recognize. Okay, I've said it for a long time, but this is a situation now where everybody would admit they are underpaying, underpaying what this team should be about. I'm not sure how you can't see that. How do you not notice that? I don't get it. That surprises me. It's that really surprises me that that that's your angle, because that doesn't make any sense whatsoever. The Illige family purchased the Tigers
in nineteen ninety two, right somewhere around there. I believe that that's what it was. Chris Hilich has been in charge of that this team for a long time, a long time. What do they have to show for it now? I don't blame I'm not always going to blame owners because they're not always making the decisions, but they are bringing in the people who make those decisions, who make those trades, who make those draft picks, who pass
on certain guys. That's the other thing. There are certain times where look, oh, we drafted this guy. Yeah, but who did you pass on? That's okay to acknowledge two a little surprising. Did not think that that's how it in twenty seventeen till now. And you tell me what they have accomplished. Tell me what? Tell me how you feel about the Detroit Tigers since twenty seventeen, sixty four wins, sixty four wins, forty seven
wins. Forget twenty twenty seventy seven, sixty six, seventy eight haven't had a winning season. Oh, but you're gonna blame it on Mike. One more quick thing before we get going, before we get out of here. Really funny situation in Chicago, the Chicago Cubs. We talked about the disappointment earlier, but this is kind of a funny story. Shoulda in Managa is the MLB's e er, a leader. He also is a guy who likes to go through a certain routine. Now he is not familiar yet totally familiar
yet with the American culture. The thirty year old Japanese rookie sometimes, uh well oftentimes most times, does not leave where he lives. I don't know if it's an apartment in a condo, house, what he's writing or anything. He doesn't go out much, but he does go to Dunkin Donuts. He's admitted this, listen to this, go around town without being recognized or how are you enjoying being show? I don't know yet looking game. Look, he must'ntis in the know it then you ook okay to my idea?
So question So if I'm many honest, I haven't really walked around too much. I mean, I've been going from the field back to my house. The only time I really go out anywhere is buying my latte dunkin Donuts. So if you know, if hopefully I can keep doing well and keep putting upstairs so people recognize me on the while I'm walking out around, they don't know I've been dunkin Donuts even though I started tonight. That's so, isn't
it about it? The more media so I think, you know, either I order small latte or medium, so they probably think that, oh, this guy can't make up his mind if he wants a smaller medium. So so good, so good. Five and zero in nine starts, leads the league in e R A with a point eighty four leads the league in e R A plus and fip and everything. It's been a fun story, but it's been it's been very entertaining as well. That that is that is funny
stuff. The only place he goes outside of Souse besides the ballpark is two Dunkin Donuts. Are you Are you a coffee drinker? Ben No, I'm yeah, neither am I I am not a I'm not a guy who dips into the caffeine either. Obviously he does and needs to. But uh, my wife and daughter and one of my sons are big coffee drinkers. My wife and daughter more of the the cold coffee, the willingness to well,
my wife will drink both the hot and the cold. You get the ice and you get the latte or whatever it is, because I don't even know my daughter drinks that stuff. But my son's a hot coffee drinker.
