Get some facts and come back and Seebee. Get some facts and come back and Seebee. Don't fill out salaries or other things. Get some facts and come back and Seebee. You can't handle the true I told our players you need a bit more like a dog. We don't need a bunch of cats in here looking in the mirror. But I look good. I got my extra bands on, I got my other shoes. Be a doll. We don't need no meals. We don't need no cats. We need more dogs. Were not at the time. Why you're not? That day we weren't

good. There's no sense of asking me things about the game. I'm telling you we laid an egg. So I'm not gonna break it down for you. He sucks. He sucked. He laid an egg. That's all I have to say. Guys, I'm sorry. I'm not gonna break it down for you. Nothing went well for us. It's on us. We have to figure it out. And we went eight. It is showtime, eight o'clock hour. Welcome back, Exus and bro throughout the great state of Michigan.

The Meyer Hotline eighty sixty six eight three eight forty eight forty three, The text Line Sports Radio to twenty one thousand. I Matt Shepherd. Trent Bally is our producer. Wherever it is you may be listening to us. Maybe it's in Grand Rapids or Grayling or gay Lord or Pataski or Charlavoy or Traverse City. We're glad you're with us. It's an honor to be with us because I know that you've got a lot of choices out there, so

we really appreciate it. If you missed it last night or yesterday, Tigers complete the sweep of the Reds. We set it in the six o'clock hour. We have ripped on the Tigers when they have lost and repeatedly fallen short of our expectations. They deserve some credit, a proverbial tip of the cap, if you will, because they complete their first sweep since late May. That's when they swept the Royals. They have their first three game winning streak

since early June. I'm not trying to be a smart ass here. I'm just telling you flat out. A team wins, a team puts together a good series. I don't even expect them, you know, I don't expect sweeps. I expect series wins. They got it. Good for them. Now you got to do it again. And the reason you got to do it again and again and again is because if you want to win the division, if you want to come back into anything, then you've got to win

series. I'm not looking at you winning every single game out there. That's not realistic. I expect you to win series. But because you are now forty two up and forty eight down, it almost forces you with a mindset you got to win every single game. You'll take on a Cleveland team tonight that has fifty six wins, second mostly in the American League and tied for second most in Major League Baseball. You do have two All Stars, kerk

scouobl and Riley Green. It's the first time detroited his head two All Stars on a team since two thousand and seven and teen, when Michael Former and Justin Upton were on the American League All Star Team. Now you may say twenty twenty two with Miguel Cabrera and Greg Risotto, but the difference there was

Cabrera was appointed by the commissioner. I suppose I shouldn't take it away, but he was appointed by the commissioner as part of you know, kind of like it was a celebration then off formality, exactly right, Yeah, him and Elbert Pools. I thought it was a great idea, I really did. Yeah. The NBA did it with Dirk Nefitzki and Dwayne Wade a few years back too. Oh did they? I don't remember that. Yeah, NBA All Star Game. They put those guys on for the East and West

respectively. Send them off. Cool? All right, So there you go. So it's good enough. But I'm happy. I'm happy that Riley Green is there. It's a it's a good looking All Star team. It's the best All Star team we've ever seen a symbol. No, I'm just kidding, And I'm happy for Terrek Schoovil. Obviously, would he start for the American League, he would be on three I believe three days rest as it's being projected. I believe it'd be on three days rest. Would he be

considered the starter? Look, here's the thing about this this stuff. These guys only pitch usually one inning anyway, So what difference would it make. That's a hell of an honor. If it's not him, who would it be? Seth Lugo? Are you selling the public? With all due respect to Seth Lugo. Are you selling the public on that? Because he's got eleven wins? Got to give him credit, right seriously? I mean, look, if I said to you, if I gave you these numbers,

dude's eleven and three two point two to one er. He's got a better era than Derek Schouoble. He's pitched more innings than Trek Scooble, doesn't have as many strikeouts, has walked a few more, has a higher war, has an equal war. Excuse me. I mean, if you're Kansas City, put yourself in Kansas City's shoes, you would expect your guid to be

the starter in the All Star Game, right. I mean, if they're having that conversation right now on Kansas City airwaves with the equivalent to the Michigan Sports Network is in Kansas City, they're promoting Seth Lugo, and for good reason, and I get it. Anyway, he's an All Star with Riley Green. That's good stuff. And then Davis Thompson wins the John Deere Classic, sets the record twenty eight under par pretty awesome. Or here's our poll

question for you. You can vote as often as you want on x follow us on Twitter, Ex's embrose, the most Underrated Lion, Gibbs, ragnow golf, an Sloni or other as often as you want. We'll give you the results tomorrow right around this time, like we will right now. From our poll question on Friday, here's what we asked you. What did you grill on the fourth of July? Were you a burgers person? Were you

a hot dog guy? Did you grill chicken or other? I don't know how many how many people voted, but we hope you'll vote as often as you want. What were the results, Trent Bally of that poll question from Friday? Quite a few votes here. Forty four percent of you grilled burgers, almost half of you, twenty five percent, hot dogs, thirteen percent, chicken, eighteen percent other. So more people grilled something else other than

chicken. When I write other, or when you and I put other on the poll question, what do you what do you envision other to be? Maybe kebabs of some sort steaks? But I'm with you. I mean you mentioned last Friday steaks don't really resonate with the fourth I'm not sure why that is. Yeah, I don't mean yeah. The tradition is obviously burgers and hot dogs. Could other be sprats? Yeah, sure, the handheld is

the key, I think because you're you're probably playing cornhole. You got a beer on the other hand, right, it just goes Yeah, because chicken you can always do like the chicken sandwich if you want. Sure, So yeah, the handheld is key. So I would say Bronx is probably in there. You mentioned kebabs, which is a good one. I suppose some people will be grilling shrimp. That's possibility. It's a good poll question.

Thanks to the results. Thanks for voting. We'll do the same again tomorrow with the pold question today, most Underrated Lion, Gibbs rag now golf a Seloni or other? Now, speaking of football, biggest red flags for NFL contenders. This is only for contenders. There are twenty of them listed by NFL dot Com. What are the biggest concerns for these teams? So, for example, for the Bengals, it's Joe Burrows health fair absolutely for the

Browns they are a contender. But I think the biggest issue is Deshaun Watson. Now they write Deshaun Watson's availability. If you look at Deshaun Watson overall, he hasn't played very well period. One of the highest paid quarterbacks in the league. He's played twelve games the last three seasons, but even when he's played, he hasn't been all that great. So obviously, anytime you see this, you gravitate towards your favorite team. So I look to the

Lions. What is your biggest concern for the Lions? Now, remember this is only those teams they feel like they can compete. The Lions are going to definitely be there. What's your biggest concern? Here's what they write,

youthful secondary. The offense is in good hands with Jared Goffin. I'm on Ross Saint Brown locked up alongside a solid line, in dynamic backfield, and while the defensive backfield got some splashy new faces in Terry On Arnold and Anus Rakestraw, it's still a gamble for a contender to rely on so many unproven starters. I think it's a fair assessment. Mine is health of the offensive line, specifically Frank Ragnow lost him a year ago, a little bit.

Graham Glasgow is thrown into certain things. Kevin Zeitler is a year older and on a one year deal. You worry it's the durability of that offensive line is vital for this team to have success. When we come back, we'll stick with the NFL theme. This is Exs and Bros. Across the Great

State of Michigan on the Michigan Sports Network. Then with Dan Dickerson, Hey Tigers fans, and baseball season means a new season on Michigan's favorite island destination, Mackinaw Island, Baseball Spring and Mackinaw Island things that return every year, reminding us what a great state we live in. Shake off the winter blaus, taking a game and plan your trip to America's top summer destination, Mackinaw

Island, dot Org. I love the wisdom and knowledge it gets passed on from one generation to the next in baseball and in their own quiet ways, both Markana and Carson Kelly are having a major impact on the Tigers clubhouse.

Wyan Creidler says he's always done his homework going into a game, but he says Canna and Kelly have really helped him understand how to prepare it, understanding how that guy in the mountain is going to pitch to him, does intendon Malloy said he had an eye opening conversation with Kelly on the bench the other day, Kelly literally calling every pitch ahead of time to help him understand how to anticipate what pitch might be thrown and win. It's helping rookies think the

game. It can't be measured, but it's always been one of the most valuable hidden elements in baseball. Huge here for my good friends from all the Myer stores across Michigan. Quick question for you. A friend of mine and I were talking the other day and we were talking baseball. I was doing most of the talking. He kind of looked at me and says, honestly, Shell, I don't care. And I said, what what do you mean?

He said, I don't care. Were you talking baseball? Were you talking Detroit Sigers? Well, yeah, one and the same Yeah, okay, yeah, he said, I don't care. And then he said I'm just biding time until football season. And it didn't really strike me at the time, but because I was so involved in the baseball aspect of what I thought was going to be a good conversation turned out to be a pretty short conversation. But then I got thinking, I wonder how many people feel the exact

same way now. Obviously, people in Philadelphia, New York and Baltimore and Los Angeles for the Dodgers. Anyway, in Milwaukee, they don't feel that way, right, They're not considering that at all. As much as they may love and I probably shouldn't even bring in Los Angeles, but as much as they may love football, and people in Baltimore, no doubt, are looking forward to the Ravens season. I would think so, right. People in New York, no matter what, they look forward to the Jets and

the Giants. People in Cleveland love their Browns. You can't deny that. People in Seattle love the Seahawks, Philadelphia, the Eagles. They expect some type of you know, comeback season four them. Milwaukee is still considered green Bay. You know, a Green Bay FanFest there, all right, all that stuff, but they're not thinking that they love their football, but they're able to combine the two. My buddy's telling me that he doesn't care.

All he's doing is biding time until he gets to football season. And we know training camp isn't far away, and it's within a couple of months of opening day kickoff, right. How many of you feel that way on a night tonight basis? Are you truly looking forward to watching the Tigers? Or maybe if you can't watch the Tigers because of a whole Exfinity ballet fiasco,

perhaps you're watching something else. You know, like maybe yesterday you couldn't be watching the Tigers and Reds because your cable system doesn't provided you don't have a non working app and you were shoved down your throat yet again another Yankees Red Sox matchup in which the Red Sox won three zip. Perhaps that's the case, but how many of you are going this does not matter to or even if you do, even if you're able to watch the Tigers. How many

of you are like my friend who says, I just don't care. I want college football and Lions football, And if so, if that's how you feel, I'll respect that. That's okay. I'm not saying you're wrong here. I don't feel that way yet, and I probably won't until the season is over, or at least until September. I wonder when it changed for you, Like when did it shift from you really enjoying watching some games too? Undone? It's over for me. This team's not coming back. This

team is not enjoyable to watch. And I can't wait for what we hope will be a Super Bowl campaign for the Lions, or what Michigan State's going to look like under a new head coach, or what Michigan is going to look like as a defending national champion. I think you just nailed at shep this area, this fan base, this market in particular, it makes sense

why people would be looking forward to football so much. And I mean it is force multiplied by the fact that the Tigers are what are they eight under? Now? You have to see that they're in light. Theyre's part of their six under. Believe they're in lie's part of the problem. I mean, you're a sports freak. You're not like most. You're watching following sports every single day. You and I talk to people, whether it's the Meyer

Hotline or our texts or via Twitter. Friend of mine, an old roommate of mine, texted me not too long ago, he said, you know what, the ninety two dream team will never be equaled. You've got it right. So, however, they're communicating with you and I. We're watching sports all the time. People are renting movies, You and I are watching sports. People are reading books. You and I are reading sports articles right, People are following politics on Twitter. You and I are following sports.

And you didn't know how many games under five hundred they were kind of gone on to it. Yeah, it's not a knock on you. It's just exactly right. It's almost as if you're numb to it. When you reach apathy, it's the death of a franchise or a season. In this case, when people just go I just have it on for background noise. I just don't care. I'm bridging one sport to the next. That's when you've lost people. I'm just going down to the ballpark because it's a good time.

I want to be outdoors. You lose people. There has to be a sense of purpose. You hope that the Tigers can do that with two All stars. You want to parlay that into something right, Absolutely take advantage of it. Promote those two individuals. But I think more and more people even though they just beat Cincinnati in three straight. Hey, if they go out and beat Cleveland and four in a row, then we're talking about something. Suddenly you're closer to five hundred. You're not a whole lot closer.

You're still double digits back in the division. But you've shown us that you know and it's a it's a lofty expectation, but you've shown us that you know what. This team actually can compete with some of the better teams in baseball. Yeah, if they did that, they'd suck everyone right back in. Because we talk about these power rankings. Cleveland's been top five all season.

Absolutely, and rightfully, so weekend and week out. Fine, like you said, absolutely, I'm not going to take me I'm not going to be little victories. That's unfair because it's as I've said time and time again, it's really hard to win Cincinnatis. You have the same record you do. So if you think beating Cincinnati, sweeping Cincinnati as a hell of accomplishment, you're basically he's saying that you think that the Tigers are a pretty good

team, and they're not not to this point, they're not. But winning games is hard, especially at the professional level, especially in Major League Baseball. I'm going to give them their flowers because they deserve it. I just wonder at what point did they go I'm out. I'm out because I can't wait for Lions season now. It's kind of unique what we've got, what

we're about to experience in the fall. It's unique because for the first time, I think there are three solid storylines with all three of the football teams. We follow nothing against Farris State, nothing against Grand Valley State, nothing against any of the MAX schools. Love them all, root for them,

all, follow them all. Lions are a Super Bowl contender. Michigan State has a new look under a new head coach, and Michigan is coming off a national championship with a new coat as well with a hell of a schedule. Those are all reasons in addition to the lot the Tiger struggles on why people that think are looking forward instead of looking at the present. Speaking of the Lions super Bowl contender or Super Bowl favorite. We'll discuss on the other

side on Exis and Bros. After this. Find savings to celebrate this Fourth of July with one stop at Meyer. six until nine. We believe, I think many people. I'm gonna use us in general. I think that's fair in this discussion. We believe that the Lions are for real. That's hard to say. It used to be really difficult to say, but I truly believe this. We in general think they're for real. Oftentimes in sports, you want your belief validated. In other words, am I rooting with my heart and instead of my head? Am I voting with my emotion instead of my logic when it comes to the

Lions. Because we have been I don't know if we've been burned so oftentimes before, but we have been let down so frequently. You and I look for some type of validation from a national scope. It's not always right. Because I was burned in the nineties. Lions beat the Cowboys, Emmitt Smith, Steve Berlin and company lose to the Redskins, get embarrassed in the NFC championship game. It's okay. It's the start of something big. This will

be a team to be reckoned with throughout the nineteen nineties. Instead it was the Cowboys and the Lions fell off. So we look for some type of validation that our belief, what we're seeing, what we're believing, is true. We don't want to be let down. So what do we do? We look for the national writers. You guys see a lot of football.

You're in every NFL camp. You talked to the insiders, and you talk to the general managers and head coaches and assistant coaches and maybe team presidents throughout the NFL. Who do you like? Sside dot Com did just that and they came out with a lot of their writers contributing to this one hundred bold predictions for the twenty twenty four NFL season. The number one prediction the Detroit Lions will defeat the Cincinnati Bengals in the Super I had to read it twice.

Doesn't mean it's going to happen. I just I just wanted to make sure I read it correctly. How they feel about my team and what I think is going to happen or could happen, is actually being thought about, being discussed, being written by a nationally syndicated and respectable website. Yeah, I'll sign up for that to happen for sure, like all of our listeners would too. Now, you could easily discredit me by going to their number

six prediction and immediately saying, who gives a rat's tale? Because their number six prediction is Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey will not get engaged. I do not care. So what. He's a Hall of Fame tight end. She must be a Hall of Fame singer. She's overrated. In my opinion, My daughter would probably walk out of the room if I said that when she was in the room. But whatever, that's neither here nor there. Who cares that? That's the number six prediction. The number one prediction is the

Detroit Lions will defeat the Bengals in the Super Bowl. Here's what they write. My most recent set of predictions, one bold one for all thirty two teams the day after the Super Bowl had the Bengals edging the Lions. But I am slightly altering my pick based on a Lions team that is absolutely his words now stacked and powered by the best vibes. Vibes don't win you football

games. Vibes don't win you championships. But vibes are a contributing factor to a success of a team, and by vibes we mean a togetherness, a feel, a confidence, a belief. All that stuff. Right? Is that fair? I hope so it continues. I have seen firsthand as a Rex Ryan era New York Jets beat writer what making it to a conference title game can do for a team. And there is a difference between an accidental

tightening disguised as confidence and real, true confidence. The Lions team could not only claw its way to the super Bowl, but romp in the process. You could not wipe this smile off my face after I read. That doesn't mean that it's gospel. I'm not suggesting that because what this experienced writer and this website has said about my team helps validate what I believe is automatic.

I just like to know that I'm not the only one seeing it. There are times you and I say, I want to be that guy who tells everybody something that nobody else thought was going to happen. Right, I'm stunning you. Right now, I'm going to give you a bold prediction. A bold ass prediction is coming your way here. It is boom, Wow, You're the only one I don't care if I'm the only one. I care that it happens, and that this thing could possibly happen is real. I

tweeted this out not too long ago when I was watching. I talked about it last Friday, I believe watching America's game the NFL network, Right, So I watched a bunch of them. I watched the early seventies of the Steelers, and I taped a few more. I'll admit I tape some Patriot ones. I taped the Colts one with Tony Dungee at the helmet in two thousand and six, right. I taped the Peyton manning one with the Broncos.

I taped the Stafford one with the Rams. I watched all these, right, and I tweeted out, I can't help but wonder if this could be the Lions perhaps in twenty twenty four. The thing that I recognized about all those teams is that they all faced adversity at some point. There was a slip up at some point during the season. As great as it may have been heading in a certain direction, it either plateaued or dipped. Maybe it was two weeks in a row, maybe it was three weeks in a

row. John Elway, Terrell Davis and the Broncos flying high to start, and then a bit of a struggle, had to find themselves a little bit. Colt's defense given up too many running touchdowns and running yards on a regular basis. And then suddenly they get solidified, they come together. That confidence is evident. Okay, there's going to be slip ups. You and I when we talk in the fall, we will, There's no doubt we will have a conversation or two about not that your confidence is waning, but what

is wrong for that particular week that needs to be corrected. It's gonna happen. I don't care what team, how many trent, how many teams, how many writers, how many fans, how many ex players, how many current players were doubting Kansas City, Yes, last year on Christmas when they lost to the Raiders with Aiden O'Connell under center. I mean, it happens. It happens even in an off year for the Chiefs. You know, they they turn it around and go win the freaking Super Bowl, right the

Lions last year even remember getting pounced on by the Ravens. Ronald and Baltimore and a lot of people at that point midpoint of the season, were saying, is this a lot of smoking mirrors because the Ravens are pretty good and you just got trounced. They figured it out. Yeah, they're not going undefeated, right right, You're not. And some of these look one hundred

predictions. Not all of them are going to be logical. Some of them are bold, like for example, they say Jim Harball is going to win Coach of the Year award, the Beajohn Robinson will top two thousand total yards of offense. Okay, there are certain things that you're going to reach for when the number one prediction. When the number one prediction is that the Lines

are going to beat the Bengals in the Super Bowl. You know what's funny When I read that, I thought to myself, Well, the Bengals people can see it wasn't long ago where the Bengals were in the Super Bowl behind Joe Burrow last year under five or just barely above five hundred. I think right in the season after going to the Super Bowl, they flirted with it again. Did it take overtime in that game against the Chiefs AFC Championship game?

I think so, Yeah, And it came down to that one penalty where the old lineman or the d lineman excuse me, push the player out of bounds flag. I mean it comes down to little things like that, right yep. So I think that's a great example. You bring out the Cincinnati fans, writers media, why can't the Lions do what the Cincinnati Bengals

did? And the Bengals but I'm saying the Bengals, we believe that that is not quote unquote far fetched to us because of what Burrow, if he's healthy, and the fact that we've seen them in the Super Bowl recently, right recent proof and yeah, they were above five hundred last year. Every team in that division. That's why I always say the NFC North is I

think the hardest division. Not always, but I've recently said that every one of those teams who are above five hundred Baltimore thirteen wins, Cleveland eleven, Pittsburgh ten sins, c nine really impressive anyway, So we believe that because we've seen it. That doesn't necessarily need validation because Cincinnati is validated themselves by going as far as they have. But the Lions, that's a new team

to the party. That's a new team to discuss and to fawn over and to try and win people over, and they got a chance for doing it. The beauty of what the Lions have going for them, among other things, is a the foundational piece. It takes me back to and it's a

different time. I understand that. But in seventy four, when Chuck Nole was building his team and won a championship in seventy four, the first for the Steelers, the first of many, he was able to do it with a lot of young players, and he was able to do it through the draft. Like you always say, the drafting and developing. Let's not get caught up in too many free agents. That's not how you're gonna win. It may be a final piece. And we've seen that before in this town.

We've seen, Okay, you bring in Brendan Shanahan was a trade. But in basketball, okay, you bring in and Rashid Wallace, again, that was a trade. You bring in certain pieces as the final touch eighty four Tigers, Darrel Evans, Dave Bergman, chet Lemon. But the core was drafted and developed. That's what the Lions have. Sam Laporta, Jimior Gibbs, Aiden Hutchinson, Jack Campbell, Brian Branch. This goes on Sell, Frank Ragnow, Taylor Decker right, and Sewell the very first pick that

Brad Holmes made with the Lions, all of them drafted developed. You could sprinkle in a guy like azelone, right, Carlton Davis, you hope he's a factor in this, sure, But everybody else but the main pieces, the main cogs, the middle of that wheel. Everything else is spoke right the middle. The hub of that wheel is the drafted, developed players. That's the beauty of it, because it's got a chance to be more than

one. After that seventy five feature, Andy Russell, drafted developed by the Steelers, all pro linebacker gets lost because of Lambert and hamp But what did he say? Mike Wagner said the same thing with the Steelers. What did they say? We immediately looked toward the next one. We weren't going to

get satisfied with one. We're not getting satisfied with one championship when we know what we have the ability to do, We see what's in front of us, we see the talent around us, and we know that we're the best and we're going to continue to be the best. I watched that whole I give I strongly incur NFL Films does a wonderful job. They really do. It's great stuff. I don't know why every other network doesn't try to emulate

what the NFL network does in that regard. It's a little easier, right, I mean, the access and the off time to be able to do it. But this is this is during the season, sitting three guys down telling the story of a championship run. What was most important? Give me a story here or there? Why did Peyton Manning get so mad at Jeff Saturday? That was their relationship. Saturday felt like we had to run the ball down there, and Manning lost his proverbial you know what and went after

him and they got into a heated discussion line. The beauty of what he said is he's like, you know what. Peyton Manning said this during the documentary. He said, once it's done, once it's over, it's over, and we moved on. It's great stuff, but you're going to have

that later on. One of the other top one hundred predictions at sixty one was the Lion's first round pick, Tarryan Arnold will lead rookie cornerbacks in interceptions he writes he'll nab four for the amobic Detroit secondary, which will have fun, fast and loose a look. In twenty twenty four, Dan Campbell says

this unit is no longer reading off a teleprompter Ron Burgundy style. They're going to be difference makers, and if they are, that's a year to year improvement from your biggest weakness a season ago in which you had a halftime lead in the NFC Championship game. So if that's the case, this number one prediction in this article might not be so far fetched. I don't know.

I can't speak on the Bengals part, but on the Lion's part, they absolutely should be in the mix one, two or three as a favorite in the NFC. I think I speak for you when I say I don't care about the Bengals part. I care about the first part. That would be awesome. Lastly, another prediction involving Detroit was this Detroit will become a barbecue destination. I view Texas, Kansas City, Memphis as barbecue destinations with all

due respect to Detroit. Don't you don't view Detroit as a barbecue destination, But I don't care.
