Where are we at in society today? Come after me. I'm a man, I'm forty. Go ahead, make my day every single week. I put my freaking heart and soul into this. I don't go out there and laugh. It's not funny. Nothing's funny to me. I don't wanna go out there and get embarrassed on Monday night football. For everybody, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship. So I ain't nothing changed from yesterday. Still the same person I was yesterday, and I got the same

thing for you that I had yesterday. You know why I'm here. You play to win the game. You don't play to just play it. That's a great thing about sports. You play to win. I don't care if you don't have any wins. You go play to win. When you start telling me it doesn't matter to retire, get out for the matters, damn right, it does herm And you could tell that to the Philadelphia seventy six ers and the Milwaukee Bucks and the Boston Bruins to a certain excent. Boston

still alive, the other two not so much. Welcome on a Friday, We've made it through the week. Well done. Hope you have great plans for the weekend as well. The Meyer Hotline is eight sixty six eight three, eight forty eight forty three. This is ex'es and Bros. Monday through Friday from six until nine on Matt Shepard. Ben is our producer. Give him a shout if you want, send us a text Sports Radio to twenty one thousand and we'll get your thoughts on the air. As always, Tigers

had the night off. They're in New York to start a weekend series with the Yankees tonight. New York blown out in Baltimore last night, seven to two. By the way, Carlos Rodin humbled in that loss, it will be Casey, It'll be a ree Oulsen, Casey Mys tomorrow, reeese Olsen today against Marcus Stroman, who's coming off, by the way, his shortest start of his season, just four innings. Mise against Clark Schmidt tomorrow. NHL last night, Man, what a game it was. That was awesome

stuff. I don't know if you had a chance to watch it, I hope you did. If not, do whatever you can whatever you can to try and find out or at least watch some of it, because it was up and down, action, physical, golden chances, great saves at both ends. It was phenomenal stuff. Toronto will be Boston two to one to force a Game seven. William Ninhlander had both goals. His second goal was the pass from Matthew Knight's was so cool. Morgan Riley had a couple of

assists. Joseph Wall made twenty two saves. Game seven is in Boston tomorrow night. While the first goalie in NHL history to have each of his first four career playoffs starts in elimination games, It's what a time, What a time for him to come through for his team. Everybody outside of that locker room thought they were done, and how could you not. We said it not too long ago. Earlier in the week, they were arguing with one another. That's bound to happen. Still. Just because the camera shows a

couple of guys yelling at one another doesn't mean that all is bad. What they do is, and these guys said it afterwards. It's not like we're yelling at each other because we hate each other. They've got expectations for one another, they've got expectations for a team, expectations for themselves. They regrouped, incredible win in Game four five in Boston and then to win last night. Really interesting point was it Ryan Callahan who was calling the game last night.

I believe it was anyway. Either way, the analyst said, these are the games Toronto. This is how they have to play against Boston, low scoring to beat them, which is kind of interesting to me because the Maple Leafs offense. I mean, when you think of the Toronto Maple Leafs, what do you think of. I think of high octane offense. I think of Neilander, and I think of Austin Matthews, although he's been hurt the last couple of games. I think of Mitch Marner. I think of

their captain, John Tavares. I think it's a team that's going to outscore you more oftentimes than not. But they brought they brought up a great point. I mean, in order to be Boston, this is what you have to do. Remember this, Toronto was the second highest scoring team in the NHL this year. It's not like Boston was. But maybe it's more about being disciplined. Maybe low scoring is an unfair way to describe how they have to win. They have to play discipline hockey, and they did last night.

It's been a fun series to follow. I'm excited for Game seven. I give Toronto a ton of credit for battling back. How much does it mean if you don't complete the deal? I don't know. Remember this, I mean Boston what pressure self induced? You probably already know that. But Boston's a team that last year set an NHL record and was dumped in the

first round of the playoffs. This year, the regular season not as good, but still damn good at one hundred and nine points, second to Florida in the Atlantic, fourth overall in the Eastern Conference because the Rangers and the Hurricanes excuse me, also had more points than Boston did, but still high expectations for sure. Really good game also good games, well, I would say not games. I would say one game, the Sixers and Knicks game

was fantastic. The Bucks Pacers game stunk. Milwaukee looked defeated almost before they even took the floor. Now they jumped out to a seven point leader Lyon Damian Lillard had a big three in the end, Indiana blows him out one twenty to ninety eight. Milwaukee finished nineteen and twenty two at Doc Rivers and it's the second straight year they've lost in the first round. Pacers, now

get the Knicks. Rick Carlisle, the head coach of Indiana who won a championship in Dallas, finally wins a playoff series after going six consecutive series without winning one. The last time he had won a playoff series was the NBA Finals with Dallas. Here's the biggest thing that jumped out at you. Indiana's bench outscored Milwaukee's fifty to ten. A little skewed because Milwaukee was dealing with

injuries. You know, Attata Compo is usually a starter. He's not out there, so that takes bench points off their bench or away from their bench. But still Milwaukee still had guys. They still had guys who should have been good enough to handle this series. I think major disappointment number one. And now what do the Bucks do with Attatakempo and Lopez and Lillard and so many others. Middleton. It's a bad loss. It's a bad series loss

for Milwaukee. TJ McConnell had twenty obi up in a twenty one. It's the first playoff series win for Indiana in ten years. But it's a massive, massive upset as far as i'm concerned. I know on to t Compo didn't play in the series because of calf injury. They're supposed to be better than that they were at one point people consider them the best team in the East. Of course, they did the same thing with Philadelphia. Injuries have

come back and hurt you. You got to have depth. Speaking of Nick and Sixers, we'll talk about that on the other side, and a few things coming your way as well. Bottom of the hour, we will talk with Well, we spoke with James Edwards yesterday about the NBA. We'll replay that conversation in case you missed it because it was in the eight o'clock hour yesterday. It'll be at six thirty five here on X's and Bros. Last night, New York beating Philly one to eighteen one point fifteen. Josh Hard knockdown the game winning three with about twenty four seconds left. It was the difference in the game. Jalen Brunson had forty one points twelve assists.

The Knicks are through the first round for the second straight year, for the first time since two thousand. So ninety nine and two thousand they reached the second round. Same thing these past two seasons. Brunson is the first player since Michael Jordan in nineteen eighty nine to score forty or more in a closeout game. Now at seven o'clock, I want to talk about some of these underrated players, these less known players, and how they have well,

they have forced me to alter my beliefs in the NBA draft. We'll talk about that coming up. What I thought was interesting, if you remember in was it game four? It was Game four where the Knicks won, Jaylen Brunson went crazy. He had forty six first player to do that, I think since Jordan. Anyway, there was a ton and I mean a ton of Knicks fans and Joel Embiid came back and was really disappointed. He was really was to a certain extent calling out Sixers fans because of the allowment of

Knicks fans in the building. Now you and I have experienced this, I'm sure by rivals. It's frustrating. You don't understand it. People buy tickets, or people have tickets, and then what do they end up doing selling them? Oftentimes, if you're selling them online, you don't know who they're going to. Instead of a home fan getting that and cheering for the home team, you're getting visitors fans coming in and taking care of business and to

a certain extent, overthrowing the hometown fans. Well, that's exactly what happened in Philadelphia in Game four, and Joel EMBII called them out. So the Sixers, the owners of the Sixers and they're former minority owner Michael Rubin, purchased a ton of tickets for Game six there at the Wells Fargo Center.

They were trying to block Knicks fans from an over boisterous presence there. If you will, I believe they said two thousand, more than two thousand of those tickets for Game six were going to First Responders Healthcare professionals and some Philadelphia based organizations, which is great. I don't know how much it mattered last

night. It helped a little bit, but there is no question there were plenty of Knicks fans in attendance, so much so that when the game was over and the Knicks were walking off the floor, that huge contingent was there giving them high fives and slapping fives and telling them way to go and congratulations and all those things. Look either way, that series was a hell of a series. That series. You look at it and I think I read

somewhere it was two hundred and ninety three points scored. The difference was one point between the two teams. That to me is you talk about balance, you talk about competitiveness. That's how close it was, and they did it. Now, remember Philadelphia earlier this year was one of the better teams in all of basketball. And then Joel Embiid gets hurt. And then that makes me wonder this. We always say you got to have three stars. I shouldn't say we always say, but a lot of people will say, you've

got to have three superstars. I've kind of fallen into that trap. I don't know who the three superstars are for Philadelphia. Joel Embiid, there's no doubt as one of them, his former MVP for Grant Outloud. How do they have so much success without those quote unquote three superstars? Maybe you still have to have that one big guy and a few others. How does Indiana get through Round one without three superstars? Well, they were able to do

it. It leaves me a little bit a little bit of hope. Remember we talked with James Edwards yesterday and we'll replay that conversation at the bottom of the hour. They feel like they've got a star in Kate Cunningham. Maybe some of these young guys have that potential and just need to find it and are learning to become that. I don't believe that's necessary the case right now, but maybe it's the possibility of turning things around a little bit quicker than

you might have thought. I'm not saying next year, don't get me wrong. I'm just telling you that when I see some of these teams play, they have good players throughout. They have really good players throughout on their teams, and maybe it doesn't win him a championship. So you're if that's what you're saying right now, you're probably right here. You're probably going Hold on a second, man, I mean you're not going to be Boston. You're

not beating Denver. No, you're probably right. Is Pascal Siakam a superstar? No, he's not. Is Miles Turner no? Is Tyre's Halburn is really good? Good balance. Right, They've just got some depth on Indiana. I don't think it's enough to beat New York, but I didn't think they could beat Milwaukee. Who knows who is when you look at New York, I mean they've won. They've done a really nice job the Knicks have of taking care of business without one of their stars. If you think about

it. No, I'm not talking about Bojan Bozanovitch, the former Piston. I'm talking about Julius Randall. Oh Giannaoboy's not a star, the hell of a player. Jalen Brunson is probably not a star. Dante Devint Devincenzo's not a star. Josh Hart isn't necessarily a star. Isaiah Hartenstein sure as hell isn't. But it works. They're good players, they work together, and

they're coached well. Top of the hour, we'll talk about some of these unknown guys, how they were required and why it might leave you a little bit of hope if you're a Pistons fan. Speaking, if you're a Pistons fan, you're going to want to listen to the conversation we had with James Edward yesterday. Look, when you look at the NBA, I used to believe you had to have for the most part, not every single draft, but for the most part, a top five, top eight pick. Those are your impact players. In watching a lot of games this year, and I never really had a chance. Haven't had a chance to do this in the past five six years because of on Tiger's baseball. You're so wrapped up in your sport that you're just on the periphery.

Are watching the NBA and the NHL playoffs. This year, have had a chance to really dive into watching a lot of NBA and I notice that so many of these quality, high end players that we're watching right now, especially in the playoffs, were not top eight picks, like a two time MVP. If you're a two time everybody knows Nikola Jokic is one of the best players in the world, so saying that it's a bit of a surprise would be a stunner to most. I mean, he's a superstar, but

a guy who help lead the Nuggets to their first ever World championship. Let him in points and rebounds and assists in the first five opening games of the series against the Lakers. He was drafted in the second round. He's a forty first overall pick, in twenty fourteen. Jalen Brunson. Look what he did last night. Scored forty one and grabbed twelve and had twelve assists. He's name it an All Star for the first time this year, set a

Knicks playoff record with forty seven points in Game four against the Sixers. They don't they don't not the two seed without Jalen Brunson, Right, would you agree with that? I hope. So it's a second round pick thirty third overall in twenty eighteen. Are they outliers? Are they the exception to the rule? We're seeing more and more of it. Tyrese Maxey, he tied Michael Jordan for most points scored by visiting player of Madison Square Garden when he

torched the next for forty six. Twenty players were picked ahead of him on draft night in twenty twenty. And we're talking about a guy who joined allan iverson Joel Embiid, Will Chamberlain and Hal Greer and Dana Barrows former Piston as the only six Ers player to score fifty points, grab five rebounds or more, and dish out five assists or more in a single game. You're in the same conversation with Allen Iverson, Joelle and bid Wilt Chamberlain, how Greer,

that's pretty damn good. No offense to Dana Barrows. Have you watched the Boston series at all? Derek White, Now, he's not an All Star, He's not named to the All NBA First team or a second team. He has been on the All Defensive Team. Averages fifteen points per game, shoots close to forty percent from three, gives a twenty ninth overall pick

in the twenty seventeen draft. These guys have forced me to change my view a little bit that you can get quality later on, but it also reinforces how important it truly is to have the right scouts and the right people making those moves. Reinforces it. See, I get caught up, and I'm sure a lot of other people do because the media. What does the media do? They promote Lebron, James Gianna, Sante to Campo, Kevin Durant. You know, I get it, Devin Booker for good reason. Okay,

I think it's been refreshing to see some of these teams. I'm rooting for some of these teams. I like Jaylen Brown from Boston, but he was the third overall, pick I think I like some of the guys who are coming out of nowhere, if you will. I like Donovan Mitchell a lot. I think he's a really good player. But the guys who are kind of under the radar, the guys who were are now stars, and

I think that's fair to say. And a lot of these guys are just mentioned for for sure, as jokis, for sure, Brunson, maybe Maxie a little bit later on. Probably not Derek White, but maybe he to a certain extent. He gets lost in the shuffle of Tatum and Brown and porzingis not Horford because he's been around a long time and I wouldn't call him a star any longer, but he used to be bigger names. How's that

cool? Okay? They get lost in that, So maybe they are are more than just what like, especially him, maybe he's more than what he's showing right now. But he's perfect for them, for the Celtics. See people when those guys were drafted. I'll bet you most people, if they even were paying attention to them getting drafted, guaranteed the people when Jokic was

drafted, there, who the hell is this guy? It's not like he got a lot of pub coming out like Luka Doncic did, right, So a lot of people are probably going, who the hell is this guy? And understandably so maybe they think, ah, he's a long shot to make the team, or he'll be a role player at best. How's that you've

heard the phrase you can do anything you set your mind to. I mean maybe you did that or use that as a as a parent or heard it as a kid, right, Or you've heard the expression diamond in the rough. Maybe that's what these guys are. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I like it. I like to see more of it, and I'm hoping and there's could be some selfishness here on my part that the Pistons eventually are able to do something like that. But when you see some of

these guys performing at this level, and it could be system. There's a lot of things. Look at Pascal Siakam, He's an NBA champion, He's a two time All NBA performer. Toronto drafted him in twenty sixteen with the twenty seventh overall pick. That was the Ben Simmons draft. Jaylen Brown was in that same draft. You know who is taken ahead of him. A lot of guys you've never heard of, guys who haven't been played. You've heard of this guy, But Denzel Valentine was taken ahead of him. Who

the hell's Wade Baldwin Pistons took Henry Ellenson exactly. You're going wait a minute, Yes, that's true. There guys taking you have never stepped down the NBA hardwood. But Pascal Siakam at twenty seven overall is one of the best players on an Indiana team that just upset Milwaukee and can be a scary team to face, and is one of the best offensive minded teams in the entire league. It's pretty cool stuff, I think, just something I was thinking

about last night. Get your thoughts on it on the Meyer Hotline eight sixty six eight three eight forty eight forty three. Feel free give us a call. We've got some texts on the text line Sports Radio to twenty one thousand. I do want to get into the cost of hiring coaches here in a moment. But first, Ben, yeah, we got from a text standpoint, says if this team wants to build around cad and I don't understand why I

would trade Duran and Ivy for a star in Morant. Ivy is okay, and Duran really is a nicer Drummond. Of course, his size can get dunks and thirteen rebrounds. Trant is a star. Also draft the Connecticut center to trio with Moran and Kid start there. What makes you think that Memphis would give up their star for duram an Ivy. That's the first thing that comes to mind when you make up trade scenarios. There's a lot of things

that have to happen. Contract equivalency has to happen, okay, because there is a salary cap and you have to be realistic. The Memphis Grizzlies spent the second overall pick in the twenty nineteen draft on j Morant. He's really good. Does he come with some baggage? Damn right, he does, but he's really good. Bridge twenty two and a half points per game in his career, seven and a half assists per game in his career, Can knock down the three. He's averaged twenty seven, twenty six, and twenty

five in each of the last three seasons injuried problems. But you know, I want you to put yourself in the situation of the Memphis general manager, and you have Jaron Jackson, Marcus Smart, Luke Canard, Desmond Baine, a couple of expistons, and j Moran, and you sit at a press conference in your home arena. Camera's rolling, cameras clicking, reporters ready to ask, and you announced we've traded Jay Morant, like it or not,

the face of your franchise for Jalen Duran and Jade and Ivy. I want you to think about that for a second and then ask yourself, would you do that? See I like Jalen Duran, I do. I don't look at him as an Andre Drumming type player. I think we get caught up saying, oh, he's Andre Drummond because they're both centers and they both played for the Pistons. I think Jalen Duran is I don't know if he'll ever be as good a scorer inside as Andre Drummond or rebounder, but I think

he's a very good young piece to this puzzle. It's not that I have anything against Jade and Ivy, but if somebody came to me with a package I felt was very enticing and he had to be part of it. Sure, Look, they just set the record for fewest wins in franchise history. There there's nobody on this team where you go, I've got to keep this guy except for perhaps Kate Cunningham, and for me, it would be Jalen during everybody else. I'm open to trading. That would be my opinion.

And let's just remind people that is not always a negative thing. When you're willing to trade somebody, that means you're a quantity or some type of peace that you find value in. You can look at it as discarding a person, but I look at it like, hey, you know what, I need something else I have to give up something pretty damn good in order to get it. I'd rather keep Jalen during the Isaiah Stewart my opinion, But you would love to have that. Sure Memphis isn't doing that. You've got

to have a willing partner to trade. To me, that would make no sense none. If you're the Memphis Grizzlies. Now, I love the fact that you're looking at it from a hometown aspect. Good for you. That's you know, that's that's definitely helping the Pistons for sure. Here's my second question, what is it you don't believe in regarding KD. Cunningham? Why is that he's Here's the I think part of the problem with Cad Cunningham.

He is dangerously because he was one to one in twenty twenty one. He is dangerously dangerously close to being just labeled as a good player on a crappy team and all the experienced losing you've seen with him, he's been I mean, I think he's for the most part, he's been pretty healthy. I mean, what did he play sixty two games this year? Ben sixty two out of eighty two. He could have played more. He wasn't drastically hurt down the stretch. The team's just not playing him, and we're gonna play

him. What was the point of that? You know? So they just felt like, forget it, We're gonna just put him in street close. He played sixty four as a freshman or as a first year player, right, Okay, so he had the one injury riddled season, and that was season two. We only played twelve games. Because this franchise has experienced so much losing and it can be so frustrating, frustrating for both of us or all of us. He's the face of it, and I think that's what

people are looking at it. I'm not buying in. Why not because this is what they've done with him. What is the when you watch him play or when you look at his seasons there's been three of them. What do you determine Do you think he's I mean, be honest with yourself. Do you think he's an All Star caliber player? I would say yes. Is he going to be a quote unquote great player? That's a definition that varies. I think we use that word way too often. Who are the great

players in the league right now? And measure him against which you think are great players at the same position? If you can't, do you look at him as a point guard? Do you look at him as a shooting guard? How do you see Cad Cuttingham? And I also would ask, if you're a fan or if you're a general manager of another team, would you want him on your team? So let's call him you want to call him a point guard. Is he better than Jalen Brunson, Deer and Fox Steph

Curry? If he's a shooting guard, is he as good as Devin Booker, Anthony Edwards. The answer to that is no, to all of those. But he's viewed as a point guard, and I think he's I think he's a very good point guard who could get better. You got to keep somebody. football coach. You know it and I know it and went back. He and the Bulldogs won back to back titles in twenty one and twenty two. The SEC is the hardest conference in America annually, and yet he guided his team to an SEC record twenty nine consecutive wins, ended up losing in the SEC title game a year ago to Alabama. Kirby Smart had a contract that paid him ten point seven million dollars a year. That's a handsome price.

Yes, absolutely, Georgia. You can call it a commitment to athletics, called a commitment to Kirby Smart a reward for a job well done, although he was getting rewarded with ten point seven five million dollars, but the Georgia administration decided to tear that up and give him a new ten year, one hundred and thirty million dollar deal that was approved by officials yesterday. He's the highest paid football coach in the country. He's the first thirteen million dollar coach.

Debo Sweeney makes eleven and a half million at Clemson. Lincoln Riley at usc makes eleven. Caitlin de Boor went from Washington, Alabama a big reason he makes ten point eight seven five million dollars. Steve Sarkesian at Texas ten point six million dollar, Mike Norvel at Florida State ten point five million dollars. It's a lot of flipping money. Put it in perspective. First of all, do you guys know who Vince Dooley is? Vince Dooley was a

highly acclaimed coach at Georgia. Head coach at Georgia a long time ago. He made fifteen thousand dollars his first year, his first contract at Georgia, he was paid fifteen thousand dollars. He won a national championship. He had herschel Walker, he had Mike Bobo. Oh never mind, but he had some really good players there. Fifteen thousand dollars. According to him, that was back in the sixties, a long time ago. But has it really

gone up that much? From fifteen thousand dollars to thirteen million per year? More perspective for you, Smart would be the fourth highest paid NFL coach if he were out there. It's lucrative to be in college athletics. Andy Reid this year is going to make more than eighteen million. Sean Payton in Denver this year is going to make eighteen million. Sean McVay of the Rams this year is going to make fourteen million dollars. Mike Tomlin with the Steelers this

year is expecting to make twelve and a half million dollars. John Harbaugh this season for the Baltimore Ravens will make twelve million dollars. Kirby Smart is getting more than John Harbaugh. He's getting more than Mike Tomlin. He is also making more than a guy like Bruce Bochie just won a World Series in Texas. Dave Roberts with the Dodgers LA's worth. The Dodgers are worth are reported three point six billion dollars and they paid their manager half, not even half

of what the University of Georgia is paying their head football coach. We got done talking about the NBA a little bit ago, somebody brought up Kate Cunningham. Pistons Monney Williams makes thirteen mil, same as Kirby Smart and money. Williams a fourth highest paid NBA coach. Peter Lavely Elett led the Rangers to a President's Trophy most points in the league. He makes five million dollars. Yeah, guys. In college basketball, John Calipari bill self, Bill self

makes nine million blocks. Folks, it's all public. I'm not sharing anything with you that you can't look up yourself. College athletics. We all know it's big business, but it's stories like this. And look, if I'm Kirby Smart, I take it too. You're kidding me. Not begrudging him by any stretch. But you wonder why fans, first of all, why there's so much pressure and why there is so much expectations. Hey, man, athletes got to deal with it. Two, an athlete is make it

as much money as they are. We talked about this the other day. When they make it as much money as they are, there are expectations you as a fan are paying good, hard earned money. It's a lot of freaking money to go to a game these days. You're driving around Rockford right now, you're thinking, you know what, I'm gonna save up some money. I'm gonna go down to the ballpark, or I'm gonna go to a stadium, and I'm gonna say, you know what, I want to go

watch this team play. You're driving around in Flint. You're going, I'm gonna save up what I can. I'm gonna go watch the Lions one weekend. It's gonna cost you the I mean, it's almost like a vacation. It's like a weekend getaway for crying out loud. Really super expensive. So when fans get pissed off, I get it. I think sometimes we can all be a little unrealistic. But when you have your hard earned money and things are getting more and more expensive these days with inflation, and you want

to go down. You want to be entertained. You want to see a win. You expect something out of a guy because he makes as much money as he does. You have every right to expect that. And when Kirby Smart doesn't do what he's supposed to do win a national championship. When you make thirteen million dollars, fans are livid down in Athens. I get it. It comes with the territory. I get why Kentucky was upset at John Calipari. I get why Kansas is upset at Bill's self. And they'll tell

you, well, you can't win every single year. No you can't, But you know what, you make nine million dollars, Bill, You make more than anybody else coaching college basketball. So when Kansas doesn't win the Big Twelve, when they don't reach the Final Four, people are going to be ticked off, and they should be ticked off because that's more than anybody else makes. You're sending your kids to school. I got a buddy, his

daughter goes to Georgia. Now there's a little different situation there in Georgia. I mean, if you get a certain grade point average, you get a lot of help. Some places at almost free to go to school there. That's just the way it is there. They make George's chuck full of money. I guess maybe it doesn't bother him as much as would bother me, but thirteen million dollars to coach college football huge business. Fans get upset,

and then you wonder why so many advocate for players to get paid. When a man makes thirteen million dollars coaching college kids, and those college kids have to do what go to school at the same time balance all the other things that go on in a teenager, in a young twenty year old's life, you can understand it. I don't necessarily agree with paying them per se, but it's hard to argue against it when a guy's making that kind of coin

Meyer Hotline eight sixty six eight three eight forty eight forty three. Ben, Who do we got with us? Yeah, we got David Hudsonville. Hi, Dave, how are you this morning? A good morning, chef. Yes, this is a great topic, and I'll tell you. I'll tell you what even here's a frame of reference when it comes to our state.

I grew up in the middle of our state, where a lot of my buddies when I graduated from high school, it could go to Flint or Lansing or Saganaw and work in the auto industry and they'd make a good living, you know, quality life. Man. They had a brand new vehicle every year, they had a cottage up north. They could take their family on our trip to Florida. You know, and that was the backbone of Michigan when Flint was thriving, when Saganaw was thriving Detroit. And now you look

at what's happened over time those jobs. And my father worked in that industry for sixty some years, you know, as a supplier to the auto industry. But all of a sudden, what happens with that is the jobs went south, and then the jobs went to Mexico, and then the jobs went overseas, and you can look at the plight of Michigan over that time, you know, and so forth. And it's also but look at CEO pay and look at the differences that have had happened in that compared to the worker.

And then all of a sudden, look at what we do now with athletics and some of this stuff, you know, I mean, it's amazing what people get paid for for what they adore and these salaries that go crazy, and then all of a sudden, is it a good thing? You know? I mean if you look even at other universities, you know, has what tom Izzo gets paid helped Robin Freelick, you know, in women's

basketball. But then if you look across the board at other sports. They're getting paid a pittance, you know what I mean, because it's not ours and it's not what people tend to care about. So I think it's also a societal issue, and I think it's something that probably frustrates a lot of people in the sense that, you know, it's hard as jobs change and as the industries change. But boys ceo pay even when CEOs do a terrible job, and they still get a golden parachute to leave, or coaches or

other people. That's frustrating. Man. Amen, It's going to cost. Look, I have a daughter who goes to Michigan State. We'll just use that since you brought that up, right, I mean tuition. I'm not saying it's you know, necessarily wrong for Michigan State to do what they what they do, all right. I'm not going to complain about how much time is O makes or how much Jonathan Smith makes or anything like that. But I do know this. I mean, it gets it gets costly to send

these kids to college. And if you're fortunately, yeah, go ahead. I just finished twelve straight years of tuition there, yeah, you know, so you can relate. So yeah. And and the other thing, though, too, is Michigan and Michigan State right now are letting in more in state students because you know society right now, kids are getting married later and you have kids in that age, right and so do I. They're having

less kids. There are less potential college students, you know, and so all of a sudden, what happens now the battle for these college students. Alabama, let's any student, you know, they admit you from out of state with a four point for free, just like what you said about Georgia. But you're gonna see universities and small colleges go out of business. And you're seeing that because the cost of college is too exorbitant, the debt, you know, for a lot of people, and what goes on you you

nailed it, man. Yeah, look at how long it takes and thanks to the phone call, have a great weekend. Look at how long it takes for someone to pay off those student loans. If you need student loans, Michigan State University will just use that as an example. What is it twenty two thousand a year, which doesn't seem too bad, you know, if you're talking about tuitions and fees and you've got that includes room and board, to a certain extent. My daughter lived off campus. She'll live off

campus again next year. Eventually it catches up to you. It takes kids years. How much was it when you and I went to college? Not to sound like old guy, it sure as hell wasn't that. It took me a long time to pay off my student loans. I had to pay for my own college. It's a good learning lesson What are you getting out of it? This is a bigger picture type situation. But the reason why are there? It comes back to this, why Why is the cost of

going to college continually going up? But when those kids, a lot of those kids leave college, they're getting jobs that don't come close to helping them pay that off. Why is that not a bigger issue for people today. I've said this for a long time. I've said we've got our priorities kind of out of whack. I love the system that we have in the sense that, you know, you can make a lot of money doing different things. Be an entrepreneur. Okay, my son's got a friend he makes money

off streaming. How I have no idea. I mean, who wants to spend their night watching somebody else play a video game? Is beyond me. Okay, but hey whatever, Okay, if you can make a living doing it and you're happy doing it, and you think it's a long term plan, God love you. Okay, go, I'm not judging here. I'm

just surprised at these kids leave college. I mean, they're making jobs, they're getting jobs, but they're they're not high paying jobs, not enough for them to leave the nest, and not enough for them to pay off those college tuition bills, you know, unless parents have planned. Fortunately, we've planned at times for our kids. But you know, like he just said, it's got four kids, four kids going to Michigan State. Do the math. Twenty thousand dollars plus for four years. If you're lucky, eighty

grand times four. Good luck retiring anytime soon. If you're helping your child, which we would all like to do, right, especially if we paid for our own that's the ultimate goal. Where's the money? Why is it rising? Why the cost going up? The costs are going up for kids to go to school, but the payoff isn't going up. Why does some of it have to do with coaches salaries, professor salaries, whatever. Somebody's

paying that. Bill Man Kirby Smart making thirteen million dollars at the University of Georgia is not coming out of one man's pocket, the chancellor, the president, the athletic director. No, it's their fund. Where's that fund come from. It comes from the university. It comes from taken say, and then some but eventually at least some of it. I'm not saying all of it. Some of it is being paid off by those whose kids go to

college. Right. Absolutely, Again, you get what you can. If you're a college coach and your administrator is willing to pay you that kind of money, you're not going to go and I don't think it's a good idea. I'll keep the ten point seventy five. I want you to take that three million. I want you to put it toward the students and lower their tuition and so on. So no, okay, people just aren't doing that. But there is a responsibility at some point, isn't there. And maybe

we just don't see it, maybe we just don't care. That could be the possibility too. What I care about is in part, my golf game. On the other side, we're going to give you a number and numbers of one of the all time great golfers what he recently did at one of the most exclusive places on earth, and how it should blow your mind.

It's amazing what took place here. I love reading stories about this. we were just talking about. Kirby Smart brings in a lot of money. University of Georgia makes a lot of money. He should bring in a lot of money to the school. We go to the phone lines and the Meyer hotline eight sixty six eight three eight forty eight forty three, Freddie has been standing by. Good morning, Freddy,

how are you, Bud? Good morning chef. You you might have touched on my my point. I was going to make a different angle on it. But first of all, I will tell you I I agree with the money in sports is is ridiculous. It's not just college football, obviously, it's it's every sport. It bothers me more in college because college was, you know, an old guy like me, it was just so pure and fun to watch and it just seemed like, uh he watched the games they

were they were. I mean, maybe I'm wrong, maybe I'm right, but it just seemed like the players play for for the game and it was more than it was. It was about winning. And it's just it's different now and the money has ruined a lot of it. So I so I'm with you on that. I I mean, I got a fourteen year old I see it with I mean, my wife hides hides how much she spends on travel volleyball, you know, because she knows, uh, you know, how furious. And then and then we got to center her the Grand

Rapids too to play a game. And we're playing in Northville, Why do we have to go to Grand Rapids? I mean, why why are we making parents spend all this money? Why can't we you know, stuff like that. Look, I mean those are those are slightly different things, and I can relate, and I I think it's great. I do. I think it's awesome that your daughter's in travel volleyball. It can be really expensive, because I've got friends who had the same thing. My kids were in

travel hockey and travel lacrosse and travel baseball, So I get it. It's a commitment by parents because you want the best for your kid at the time of their lives. Give them the opportunity to experience things that maybe you never did, or give them the opportunity to play athletes who are as good, if not better than they are, test them against the ultimate competition. Nothing wrong with that. I think it's great. I think it's slightly different at

the collegiate level. You know. My question to you, and it would be to myself too, why are you doing it? Then? What's the payoff? Why don't you just have to play quote unquote house then? And here's the reason, at least it was for me. I think, first of all, I think travel sports in general are watered down. I'm not saying volleyball or your your daughter's volleyball team. I'm saying in general, I can't tell you how many people are running. My kid plays travel baseball.

He's eight years old, for crying out loud, Okay, when I was eight, we were playing T ball. Maybe that's wheth Some of the fundamentals are lost. But the reason you do it is because you want your kid to participate and play against the very best, and you want them to be able to measure themselves. And that's a good thing. I think. Yeah, I my thing is to travel for the parents. I guess that's what it is. It just it just puts a stream. What else you're gonna

do? What else you're gonna do? Okay, you you've had your time as a kid and a young man, not that you're old, but what what's wrong with going on? What? Watch your kid play in Grand Rapids. That's fantastic, great city, And what else are you going to do? I don't get I don't I don't get to go though the wife gets to go with. Okay, Well, what are you gonna do? Okay? What I mean? What else you gonna spend your money on spend your money on your kids. Well, well I do, but I tell you,

but I'll tell you. I'll tell you a funny story shop. You know, because I've been listening to you for so long, over ten years, you usually tell this story all the time. One of your favorite things while sitting in practice and watching your kids. Do you realize that's one of my favorite things to do. My eight year old when she goes and plays volleyball at the church, I'm like the only parent there now, sitting on my phone. I'm sitting there watching my daughter practice, and nothing brings me

more joy than watching my eight year old. Well she's ten now, but watching my eight year old learn how to play volleyball and this year for ustrations, Yeah yeah, I absolutely nothing. I mean, I can have the worst day at work and I generally don't do the works usually good for me. But when I go see my ten year old now, but when she was a incredible I never I never experienced anything like that in my life. It's the best best day of your life. It makes up for a really

tough week and all everything goes. It's good for you. I knew you were a good dad. I'm glad you did that thanks to the phone call. I have a great weekend. That's what it's about. Man. There's I drive by the other day. My wife and I were going for a walk with our dogs in the neighborhood and I heard you could hear a Little league baseball game going on, and I said, we should go over there.

Let's go watch those kids play. I miss that part. There's some really good songs where you've heard the phrase you know you don't know what you got till it's gone. You're gonna miss this, absolutely, you'll miss it. There's nothing like going to watch your child play. What pisses me off as much as anything in life, is going to something like that and watching

parents self indulge rather than give their time to their child. Parents who are up in the stands on their phone, because that's more important to follow social media than it is to watch your child participate in an event. Parents in the stands reading the newspaper, reading a book. Think of that for a minute, you got an hour. You can't give a kid an hour because they notice it. Don't kid yourself. They notice it. They know what's

going on. I miss those days more than anything. And if you're going to get your child involved in travel athletics, and I encourage you to do so. And I would encourage you to go outside the state. My son missed, he missed trips, family trips to play travel lacrosse in Maryland and places out east. It's what he wanted. He wanted to measure himself against the best, and then he was fortunate enough to play in college. I loved it. I encouraged it. If that's what you want, do it.

Just understand this. If you're going to do something like that, if that's what you want, make the commitment you want a financial commitment from me. The financial and emotional commitment needs to come from you. Back with more in Exus and Bros. After this. This is the Michigan Sports Now in

Just so you don't think I'm a hypocrite, because I was saying, you know, if you're a if you're a parent, what else you get to do if you'd give a kid an hour if

you're at a practice or something like that. And I had mentioned my son, one of my sons had gone to it, missed a family trip to kate Cod because he'd rather have gone to a couple of his travel across team tournaments out east, uh to measure themselves against some of the best who play the sport, some massive tournaments that saw college coaches come from all over the country. We did go to some of the tournament, but you know,

we're still as a family. You're gonna you're gonna take your family vacation. It was just a choice of his. We didn't necessarily say, hey, listen, you've got to do one or the other. He chose to do it and it did pay off for him, but we were used to that. I do believe, and again this is not on any one particular sport or age group or area, but I do believe we have watered down travel

athletics. I think you can find a travel team in just about every city in any state you live in. And to me, travel everybody has different definitions, I suppose, But to me, travel is a little bit more than just going in the state of Michigan, for example. I mean go outside the state, go places. My oldest boy played on a travel baseball team. There were people going to Texas and Arizona and Colorado for tournaments.

I'm like, wow, Freddie's right. The amount of money you could spend is I think a guy once told me, I want to make sure I get the number right. I think with sixteen thousand dollars he spent on some travel baseball for one summer, it's over sixteen thousand dollars that's that's a hefty sum. That's a really hefty sum. Speaking of travel, Jack Nicholas has traveled all over the world as the greatest golfer of all time. I believe he's the greatest golfer of all time. I suppose that's up for debate.

Here's what we do know. Jack Nicholas is the greatest champion. He's won more championships, more majors than anybody else, eighteen and he has finished second more than anybody else. Whether it's he or Tiger Woods is not what the topic is about. But Jack Nicholas, who doesn't play golf really that much anymore because of injuries and his age and so on and so forth. He's

eighty four, all right. We all know that. It wasn't long ago when the Masters concluded and Scottie Scheffler won his second Green jacket in three years. Well, according to reports, Jack Nicholas stuck around Augusta to play the course three times. He did a really nice job as a guest analyst on Golf Network when they were asking him about how would you play certain shots. He knows that course so well, it's amazing. He knows the course so

well. He was able to describe just about every single shot you need, where you want to be on every single hole. It's amazing, simply amazing. And I watched him do an interview on the Golf Channel for an extended period of time. But he stuck around Augusta to play, and he played it three times, three times. Now. This is he said this. He says, they don't have forward teens at Augusta. It's hard for me to play long courses. I can't play sixty four hundred yards because on a

good day, I'm hitting the ball one hundred and ninety yards. Now, Scotty Scheffler won the tournament. Everybody knows that his final score was eleven under par. He shot sixty six. He shot seventy two seventy one sixty eight parr is seventy two. The yardage is seven thousand, five hundred and fifty five yards at Augusta. That's long. I don't know how many you got out there. And you ladies out there play golf. I love the sport, absolutely love it. I could play it every day. I don't hit

it very far. I played yesterday with two of my sons, had an absolute blast. I think the course was maybe sixty five hundred yards. I played well on the front we played for the Blues. Okay, I'm probably better off playing from the whites. We played for the Blues. I played really well on the front shot of forty three. Feel pretty good about that, right. My goal is to break ninety. Get that done. I feel good, okay. Jack Nicholas is eighty four playing arguably the most prestigious

golf course in the country, maybe the world. At age eighty four, he shot an eighty eight, ninety and a ninety one. Now, before you sit there and say, what's so great about that, he hasn't played that course since two thousand and five. Don't give me this honorary starter stuff. All right, he hasn't played the course since two thousand and five. I mean he's played in the par three contest, so I guess, but he finished doing that in twenty twenty two. So he hasn't played the course

since two thousand and five. He's eighty four years old. And on top of that, think of this, even at his eight how how many times is he playing three rounds of eighteen in as many days you and your buddies go on golf trips in the summertime you're playing, you know, maybe thirty six holes one day. Then you have a rough Friday night. I'm speaking from experience here. You have a rough Friday night, you wake up, you play eighteen the next day, and then maybe you play eighteen on the

getaway day unless you had another rough night Saturday. And again speaking from some experience, Yeah, it's it's really hard. And yet at age eighty four, he goes out there and puts together a total three rounds of two sixty nine. The worst score at Augusta this past year, twenty twenty four, there were a number of scores in the eighties. The worst score came from Emiliano Grillo. He shot in eighty three in round two. He's thirty one

years old. Jack Nichol is fifty three years older than Emiliano Grillo, and Grillo beat him by five strokes on his worst day and Jack Nicholas's best. That is a wide gap in age, but not in playing that course. Muscle memory to me, that's that's a that's a muscle memory type situation. Amazing his body. I mean, he just wouldn't you love to know if he has ever duffed one? Would you love to know if he's ever topped one off the tee. There's no way that could have happened recently. What

an amazing story. I find that fascinating. Our phone number on the Meyer hotline eight sixty six eight three eight forty eight forty. You can text the program Sports Radio to twenty one thousand as well. There's still plenty to get to and I want to get to it. Some NFL drafts steals, a really cool story about a hockey player that I want to make sure we dive into as well, and a cool moment from the NFL Draft. We'll get to all that and more coming up in the final half hour of the program.

I think so it doesn't make you the most popular, but I do believe it makes them different. There are certain sports I really love, probably sports that you don't necessarily love as much, because I like people. I like the toughness of them. It's one of the reasons I've always said, I don't get why more people don't gravitate in this

country. You don't gravitate towards the sport of lacrosse. It has everything you want. It has the toughness of hockey. It has the high scoring more than hockey. The high scoring if you will of well, it's not one hundred and twelve points like in basketball. But I mean there's there's scoring. There's a lot of scoring and a lot of scoring chances. Sure as hell

isn't soccer, I'm telling you right now. And then it has the physicality of football, where guys are just you should see the amount of I mean the stick wax on people's arms, the checks, shoulder checks, the body slams. You got to be a tough hombree to play it. Hockey. Same thing. Love football, love hockey, love lacrosse. It's not that I don't love the other sports, because I do. I marvel at the

athleticism in basketball. I've always loved baseball, but I've really grown an appreciation and I've always loved football, played it ever since i was a little kid, but I've really grown for the appreciation of hockey, lacrosse particularly anyway, when you think of hockey, I think a lot of people do think of

the toughness. Recently, an ESPN program, The Pat McAfee Show, had Matthew could Chuck on he of the Florida Panthers after the eliminated Tampa and he said, the host said, this guy's one of the toughest dudes Everlast year saw him literally with a broken sternum, a broken femur which I don't recall that, a broken hand, Yeah, beat up shoulders, fractured skull. Taped him up, went out on the ice, pushed his way through and played. Why is hockey so different and why can they do that? Why

do they feel it's necessary playing through a fractured sternum? Remember what Nick Lidstrom did back in two thousand and nine, what Mark Stone did this year from Las Vegas. It's a different mindset, man, It's a different feel, it's a different expectation, obligation. Where does it stem from? Who knows? Everybody's different, right, It's not to say that other players and other sports aren't tough or as tough or tougher or more dedicated, but there is

something about being raised as a hockey player. Now maybe things are changing a little bit. I don't know, because a friend of mine recently told me he was disgusted when he took his little one into a rink and he saw parents carrying their kids' bags. So maybe it's a little bit of a softness from that standpoint. We never did that with our kids. Our kids had to carry their own bag. My sons could fit inside their hockey bags. They were just little kids when they were four or five years old. They

could fit inside the hockey bag, crawl in there. If you take all their pads out, they could crawl in there. We could zip it up and carry them off. But they carried those bags into the rink every single practice, in every single game, two sticks in one hand, bag over the shoulder, the other, leaning forward like they were running downhill and going into the arena. That's what I love most about it, and I sure hope parents aren't replacing that. I think it's an important part of the sport.

I really do. I hope you're not saying, you know what, six am is too early for me, so I'm not gonna get up and take my kid to practice. No, man, it's a great way to start the day. I think you can get up for six am T time, couldn't you. Or at six am tailgate at U of M for a new game. You can make a flight at six am, can't you. That's kind of in my mindset. When I read the article, it kind of took me back a little bit to those types of days. Because Matthew

Kuchuk and others have mentioned the same thing, speaking of toughness. It's one of the reasons I love the Lions draft pick of Terry on Arnold. It would be interesting to know how many teams, scouts, assistant general managers, general managers, whatever, call the coaches of some of the players they're considering drafting. Nick Saban said something pretty interesting draft night. It's not many teams that call him. There's a documentary called The Art of Coach. It kind

of put on display the bond between Bill Belichick and Nick Saban. And Saban had kind of gone off rather showing some frustration and being upset on how NFL teams evaluate talent, and he said this. He said, one thing that you do referring to the NFL that a lot of NFL guys don't do. And he was referring to Bill Belichick here. He said, one thing that you do that a lot of NFL guys don't do. I don't know if you've ever picked one of your guys, if you've before talking to me.

In other words, I'm thinking about drafting this guy who played for you at Alabama. Tell me what you think of him. Doing your homework, Saban said, there's a few other guys in the league that do that, but many then there's a number of teams, thirty teams he said that I never hear from and they picked somebody, and I think you picked that guy. And after a while they'll say, well, we didn't know this. Well, that's because you didn't make a phone call. It sure seems like the

Lions have called him on more than one occasion. When you're drafting guys from Alabama who played for Nick Saban, it seems like Brad Holmes and his staff have at least touched base there to see what kind of player is Brian Branch, Jamison Williams, Terry On Arnold. First of all, I love that about Brad Holmes and his staff. That's number one. Number two. I

love the fact that Saban was a tough as nails coach. Not every coach has to be tough, grinded out tough love okay with every single player because players are different, different players I like in coaching to being a father all the time or being a parent. Just because you have four children doesn't mean that you parent them all the same. The rules can be the same. This is my belief. Now, the rules can be the same doesn't mean that you go about it exactly the same with every single one of them,

because not all of them. Not every person responds to things. I mean, you know this. You have a working environment, You're probably respond to certain type of criticism or critiques. Let's do critiques different than others. Now. I don't want to be surrounded by a bunch of people who constantly he have to be patted on the butt or patted on the back. And I sure don't want to be around people who feel like you can never do anything

right either. But the belief is that Nick Saban is that tough love guy. So that's awesome. He's a tough love guy. And Terry On Arnold

responds. Jamiir Gibbs has responded, Branch has responded. Williams has responded, you would expect the same from this guy who, at one point during his career was benched and rather than crawling away, hiding in a corner, sucking a thumb, threatening to transfer, giving up, down playing everything that took place, bad mouthing the guy who took his job, what did he do there to be supportive? And he was there to try and get better and

regain the position. Professional example, A couple nights ago, Matt Verlin gets pinch hit four. He's playing his hometown team, Saint Louis, He's got friends and family in the stands. He's disappointed. Carrie Carpenter comes in, gets a sacrifice, fly, gets the job done. First player out of the dugout. First player at the top steps of the dugout to congratulate Carpenter for a job well done with Matt Verlin, those are the guys you want

on your team. We all want stars, we all want guys who can produce, but we want guys who understand the process, understand what it takes to be better, are willing to sacrifice to get better, and are willing to listen to the hard coaching of a proven coach to get better. That to me makes it a really good pick. If you have to constantly massage an ego, constantly massage feelings on the football field, you're in trouble.

With over one hundred guys on the field for Alabama, that's impossible. With eighty or fifty four guys on the field for the Lions, it's challenging too. You have to take you can't dedicate it to one guy all the time. So I love that and it makes me happy and even solidify more when you read stories like this, solidify more of the reasons why Detroit may have

drafted him. Willing to accept hard coaching. That's awesome. I would hope that's the way it is in a lot of different moments for athletes or for

people in general. Did you see the video? It's a really good I think people what they want out of sports Because every game's on TV, and because so many interviews are done with players in front office personnel, and you get video and audio clips and various social media sites and online y it's really hard to perhaps keep people's attention for an extended period of time on one thing. But what the Eagles did recently was brilliant, and I think the Lions

do it. I'm sure every team does it. They put a camera and a microphone on people, just to give you an idea of what the process is all about. What's it like being in the draft room. Well, we're going to show you. The Eagles did that. They put a camera and they had their general manager miked up, Howie Roseman, and they in the second round, they really wanted Iowa corner Cooper dejen. They were trying

to figure out a way to trade up. Now they had already selected Quinnon Mitchell in the first round, the kid out of Toledo, but they wanted another defensive back. So here's what they did. They're planning to trade up to the eighth pick of the second round, number forty. Remember I told you the other day, general managers, front office personnel do not use rounds.

They use picks, overall picks. And if you listen to the video of this behind the scenes Philadelphia Eagles draft room, you'll notice the same thing Roseman. That's all he does. He just says, taking pick this, this, this, for this, this and this. He was hoping that Degene would fall. The Rams had just traded up to number thirty nine, so he thought for sure that the Rams were going to take him, and he was a little disappointed, like, ah, that's it. They didn't

take him. They took Florida State defensive tackle Braden Fisk instead, former Western Michigan guy who transferred to Florida State. And upon hearing this, he pumped his fist, screamed how much jubilation he had hugged his owner, made the pick, and then quickly got him on the phone. That full access video. The team has a YouTube account, that full access video is there for

anyone to see. And he brought up a great point following that. Wearing the microphone, he says, you don't know how everyone else sees things. We know how we see things, and you get into your own head where you go, everybody's got to see it the same way. It doesn't work out that way. So the Eagle secondary might be the best in football. You got Queenn Mitchell, you got Cooper Dejeen, you have Darius Slay and CJ. Gardner Johnson Degene can play safety your corner. It goes to show

you you and I have different opinions on players. Doesn't mean that one person is always right or wrong. But if you and I are going to have different opinions, you don't think front office personnel are going to have different opinions, especially with all their scouts watching different people. I read an article yesterday where people thought Detroit showed some arrogance by drafting Rakestraw on the second round. My immediate thought was, are you kidding me? Arrogance? I think it's

brilliant. It's where they had him on their board. They actually had him higher according to Brad Holmes, and knowing that this team is only going to have one cornerback under contract after this year before the draft, tells you even more about the need for that situation, and take the need out of it. It's just where they had him graded, which is the first and foremost most important thing as far as I'm concerned. They saw it in a different

way. Let's see if the Lions can prove them wrong. Let's see if Rakestraw can prove them wrong. I thought it was fantastic. It's another example of what makes sports so great. I think it's just how people feel differently about different things when it comes to the draft specifically. But I loved the comment from Nick Saban and I thought it just kind of went back to just

how important it was. You know, we see Detroit moving up five spots for Dallas to get terry On Arnold and thinking to ourselves, oh, they traded up for a need. They traded up for the player, not for the need. They traded up for the player. They didn't trade up for the pick. They traded for the player. That's the most important thing to remember moving forward in any draft. I hope with any general manager. Picks are great. Oh they gave up a couple of thirds to get this guy.

You got the player you wanted. That was most important, really important to bring all this fun conversation to you every Monday through Friday from six till nine here on Exes and Bros.
