Get some facts and come back and seebe. Get some facts and come back and seebe. Don't throw out salaries or other things. Get some facts and come back and Seebee. You can't handle the true now told our players you need a bit more like a dog. We don't need a bunch of cats in here. Looking in the mirror, I look good. I got my extra bands on, I got my other shoes. Be a doll. We don't need no meals, we don't need no cats. We need more dogs.

Why not a detain Oh you're not that detained. We weren't good. There's no sense of asking me things about the game. I'm telling you. We laid an egg. So I'm not gonna break it down for you. He sucks. He sucked. He laid an egg. That's all I have to say. Guys, I'm sorry. I'm not gonna break it down for you. Nothing went well for us. It's on us. We have to figure it out. And we went eight Showdown, Final hour of Axes and

Bros. Glad you're with us throughout the great state of Michigan. The Meyer hotline is eight sixty six A three eight to forty forty three in text. The program Sports radio to twenty one thousand. Ben is our producer does a great job, day in and day out. We're glad you're with us. Tigers opened up a six game road trip, first of three in Arizona tonight. Trek Scooble gets the call. Jack Flaherty will pitch game two, Matt manning game three. They need runs, they're not getting them at all.

They take out on Arizona team that is a couple of games under five hundred, but they have played decent ball as of late, winning seven of their last ten. If you missed it, last night, Vancouver scored a late goal in the third. They trim Edmonton three to two. They came back from one to nothing down and two to one down. They lead the series three games to two. The Rangers game was on believable man. It was a three to one Carolina lead heading into the third at home, and the

Rangers score four times. The last one is an empty netter, a natural hat trick for Chris Kreider, and he leads them into the Eastern Conference finals. Crider joins Mark Messier and Wayne Gretzky, is the only Rangers to score three goals in a period in a playoff game, and the Rangers are the only President's Trophy winner in the last ten years to reach the conference finals. In basketball, Minnesota staves off elimination. Anthony Edwards had twenty seven to lead

the Timberwolves to a blowout win of Denver one point fifteen to seventy. The Nuggets, for as good as they are that are defending world champions, they are a team that is to be reckoned with. Without question. They've got superstars. They got the MVP. They shot thirty percent from the floor. Game seven is Day and the PGA Championship. The one hundred and six playing at Valhalla has some incredible names atop the board, led by Xander Schoffley,

who card it a nine hunder sixty two. The fourth man. Actually he's the third man because he's done it twice. To ever carred a sixty two in a major. He did it last year at the US Open. He did it this year in Round one of the PGA Championship on a course that is supposed to be very challenging. I've never played it. Over seventy six hundred yards, sixty four men were in red figures. That's pretty damn good.

The defending champion is Brooks Koepka. He's at four under, so is Scotti Scheffler, who is detained by police before the start of the second round today because around five am, a bystander was walking across the street near Valhalla Golf Club in the bus lane and was struck by a bus at five o'clock this morning, so they had some parts of it marked off. Scheffler drove by that marked off area. A police officer launched himself onto his car,

told him to get out. Scheffler gets out. He throws Scheffler up against the car and puts him in handcuffs. The championship was delayed because of that deadly crash, so they're about to get underway. Scheffler, by the way, from all intentsive purposes, just a really good dude. Apparently, after a misunderstanding with traffic, they take him, they put him in handcuffs, they get situated, everything's figured out. Scheffler's ready to play round two.

There you go, that's what's going on in the world of sports. Let's go to the phone lines. The Meyer hotline is open for you, and our friend Freddie is standing by on a Friday morning. Freddie, good morning, how are you a chef? When I find interesting about Scheffler is uh, not the situation, but a bunning star that people don't even know. If you walk, if we delivered a pizza to year of the house, you won't even know who, not you, but most people won't even know

what he looks like. That's the funny thing everyone, But don't tell you what as long as it's your pizza. Yeah, well, well yeah, I just gotchers. It's just you know, I don't I don't get to see him play much because I'm still kind of bitter, a lout in my favorite with the favorites what to have lived, So I don't watch as much, you know so, but just out of curiosity? Why does it make

you bitter? Because I don't get to watch them. I don't know, I don't know where they're at, I don't know what channel they're on, I don't know what's where they're streaming at. And these are the guys. JT was Why am I drama blank? Right? Because you just talked about Wayne Gretzky, his son in law. I'm drawing a blank right now. Who are you talking about? No, Wayne Gretzky, son in law? Why am I drawing a ball Dustin, Dustin Johnson, Dustin Johnson, sorry,

Dustin Johnson. Yeah, you don't get to see him play anymore because you know, he went to live and you know stuff like that, and I just, you know, I want him to stand the PGA tour. So I get it. But if you have if you have the Internet, if you have YouTube, you can watch them. Yeah. Well yeah, well I'm not gonna do it. So but before I before I get to

the Tigers, you said something interesting about the New York Rangers. How Wayne Gretzky and Mark and Mark Messier where there's only two guys, isn't there Isn't it amazing for a team like the New York Rangers. It took two and Theton Oilers to break that record. Most young people wouldn't even know those guys played for the Edmonton Oynists. Yeah, pretty impressive stuff. Yeah, well, I'm sure a lot of people don't know. Young people don't know that

Wayne Gretzky also, you know, played for the Saint Louis Blues. So anyway, exactly, anyway, so hobby bias, I gotta tell you, I am so tired of hearing about hobby bias. You turn on any station, read something, it's always about a hobby bias. So you know, no one has a solution, and you know, I don't know. Sometimes I feel like for the Tigers, maybe it's all everyone's talking about and they're not really talking about what's really going on, the guys not hitting, or

the team's not hitting, or struggles here, struggles there. So let's keep hobby around and and uh, you know, for me, if it was for me, and I'm about this is this is my my opinion. You know, I steptually earlier in the week, I threw all some ideas like, hey, trade a bad contract for a bad contract. I've heard attached a top prospect get rid of them. I would not do that. I would not get rid of a top prospect just so a team could take them.

But that if it was for me, Yeah, if it was me, I listen, I'm a businessman, but I don't loan a billion dollar corporation, so I'm not I'm not in the equation. But I am a businessman and I've done I've made mistakes, and I've taken lasses and I've had to take losses, and I think it's it's it's really getting to the point where you know, the only may have to buy him out because this is all everyone's talking about. Sheep is hobby biased. It's getting annoying, and

he may have to pay him off to get rid of him. I mean, what are your thoughts about that? Well, you're talking about ninety eight million dollars. It's sexually seventy three, but ninety eight if you include this year. So I mean, it's it's easy for me to say that. It's easy for me to say, just buy him out. Give him the twenty five million this year, give him twenty five next year, and give him forty eight over the following two years. Would you do that? What?

You're gonna pay him, but you're gonna pay him if he's here, or or you pay him off. No, correct, Yeah, but at least with at least if you have him here, and thanks to the phone call I got, I got to get to a break. At least with having him here, you get a chance to turn him around. If you think he's a completely lost cause, then you can cut him and see if somebody else wants to pick him up, and then pay the salary. It's not going to happen, though. It's just not going to because no team

is going to do that. You're not going to trade him, and you're sure as hell don't trade a top prospect, let's say a Jackson Job, a Cole Keith, whoever it may be in your system. You sure as hell don't do that. Oh, please take one of my best prospects so I can get rid of the worst player my team. There's no logic to that whatsoever. We're back with more after this on Exis and Bros. In

the Dan with Dan Dickerson. Hey, Tiger's fans, A new baseball season means a new season on Michigan's favorite island destination, Mackinaw Island, Baseball Spring and Mackinaw Island things that return every year, reminding us what a great state we live in. Shake off the winter blas, take in a game,

and plan your trip to America's top summer destination, Mackinaw Island. Dot org aj hint says what separates the top level pitchers from the rest of the pack is their ability to just keep stacking strong outings one on top of the other. Now he was talking about Trek scooball, but you can add now Reese Olsen's to the conversation. In his last fourteen starts, going back to last year, Olsen's been incredibly consistent. In eighty three innings, He's allowed just

fifty hits. He's allowed more than two earned runs once. Hint says Olsen has an incredible feel for pitching, knowing how to attack different lineups. He can throw all four pitches over the plates. The top four toughest pitchers to hit in the major leagues right now Dylanci's Ranger, Suarez, Reez Oulsen, and Trek s Google in that order. Hey Michigan, let's go, baby. I'm humming more Alliance all Pro Wide Receiver and I'm talking real big time

there are some at times, some technical difficulties. One hundred point nine FM the mid Midland Sagon of Bay City unable to run our show this morning because of some technical issues. They'll be back with us on Monday. They're working to get it fixed. That doesn't help you in Midland Sagon on Base City. Who can't hear what I'm saying right now, but just FYI,

all right, so making some things happen. So the phone number on the Meyer hotline eight sixty six eight three, eight forty eight forty three in Tech Sports Radio to twenty one thousand, and feel free to do that. We're talking a little bit. Look, Freddy's right. Just before the break, Freddy called said, now everyone's writing about this, everyone's talking about how your bike. Well there's a reason for that. You know, this is not

a promotional. This isn't what Caitlin Clark you know, where it's over exposed. She had nine points in her home debut last night and they got blown out by New York. Not that I want to tell you, not that we're going to talk about it. I'm just letting you know. She and it's no fault of her. It's the media jumping all over it. But when you have two point three million people watch your first game, when you sell out, you're on national TV on every game, and you sell out

your home ticket allotments, people are going to talk about you. I think we go overboard with athletes because we got the twenty four hour cycle. I'll give you a case in point Tiger Woods ten straight times now where he has shot over par, right, I think that's what I saw last night. But either way, everybody's talking about Tiger Woods. He was one over.

How far back he is? The leader's at nine under. He's not winning this tournament, but that's what everybody starts their highlights out with, all right, because people want to know about Tiger Woods. Okay, that's what's going on with Haavier Bias. When you are as highly paid as Biases, when you play the most, you could argue the most important position is probably catcher, but the most important position that he does that the team is financially committed

to him for another three years. After this, of course, people are going to write about it and talk about it. And when he's struggling, I know that it doesn't mean that you should avoid it, though. I think it's ridiculous. I don't know if anybody. I don't think anyone's written this. I don't know if anyone's talked about it. I don't know if

fans have contemplated it. If they have, it's ridiculous. There's no way a team says, in order for me to get rid of my worst asset, I'm going to give up my best future asset business wise makes no sense. The problem with Bias and his contract and his lack of hitting is that no one would touch him. I know there's plenty of fans who would want to do this. In a fantasy where okay, we're getting close to the deadline, Tigers are not in this thing. What do we do. Let's

trade a commodity that we have that somebody wants. Immediately your thought goes to pitching, right, of course, immediately your thought goes to a young pitcher. I gotta trade Jack Flaherty, right, Maybe you will, I don't know. Maybe they did, sort of like what Michael Lorenzen did. You wish you could tread Ken Tmya. No one's gonna want him, So you

go to a Casey Mice. You go to a Matt Manning, you go to a Terrek schoobl You go to that's where your mind takes you, and then you think, I got an idea to make things at least sweet for me, but sour for you. You got to take Miz Manning or Schooble with bias. Teams aren't going to do that. That's an immediate turnoff. That's like taking a girl out on the first date and she's picking her nose. First time you go see her. You walk up to the steps and

she's smoking. I don't mean smoking hot, I mean smoking a cigarette. Turn off, turn off out. General managers are going to hang the phone up, they're going to drive the car off the road. They're going to disconnect their bluetooth. That's not happening, So you can get that out of your mother. I suppose you could find one irresponsible I won't use the word stupid, irresponsible GM to do that. I doubt it, highly doubt it. Maybe they've got so much money. Wouldn't be the Mets, but it

wouldn't be the Yankees. They got they're okay with e Vulpian Torres. Maybe there's a team out there that says, you know what, we need that picture so desperately we will take the other guy and eat his contract. It's just I don't see how that happens. I don't see how they they possibly eat seventy three million dollars. Those general managers folks have to go to a higher caller, their owner. They have to go to their owner and say,

here's what we've done. We've acquired Casey Mice, Matt Mannure, Terry Coole, and we've done that, but we've also had to collect a less than desirable contract. Oh yeah, what's that. We've got Javier Bias and we're going to owe him seventy three million dollars after this year. That seems like pretty steep. I don't know the young fellow, but my guess is he better be worth it, right, because that's pretty well quite honestly,

No, he's eighty two percent worse than the average hitter. I'm sorry, what yeah, it's it's not a great situation, but I had to make the deal. I hate to tell you this, but he's on base plus slnking percentage has dropped in each of the last three years with Detroit. I can't do anything about it. I had to have the pitching. I know he's hitting in just one sixty seven and one homer and he's only walked five times. But I really think the pitcheon's going to help. You're fired.

That's my money and you're wasting it. But he's a two time All Star in his prime, not now, so that's not happening. You have to write it out. I know it's tough. You have to hope or rely. Hope is gone. You have to rely on your coaches to make him better. And you better try and pray as hard as you can that he figures something out. Whatever it is you're doing with them ain't working right now. Meyer Hotline is open for you eight sixty six eight three eight forty eight

com. Hey, thanks for sticking around with us eight thirty five on this Friday morning. I hope you've got big plans coming this weekend and you're excited for them. Enjoy it if you missed it. Last night, Rangers come for three to one down. They beat Carolina five to three. They eliminate the Hurricanes in six games. Chris Kreider had the hat trick. It was

a natural hat trick. It all came in the third period. And the Rangers are into the finals there where they play Eastern Conference Finals where they play either Florida or Boston. I'm not sure who the better matchup is. I can't necessarily break that down. I just know Florida's tough to play against. Man. They really are. I said this middle of the season. I thought the Rangers were really good. You sure didn't need me to tell you

that. But they are sustainable because of their depth and Shaskirkin is really good in net on the west side. Dallas leads Colorado three games to two, and now Edmonton trails Vancouver three games to two because the Canucks won last night three two. The biggest surprise, well, the fact that Carolina surroundered a three to one third period lead is surprising. But to watch Denver get steamroled

by Minnesota. I don't know if you saw this, or maybe you just tuned it out after a while because you saw how it was going one fifteen to seventy. Anthony Edwards said, twenty seven. Rudy Gobert must have had I think he had five more rebounds than Nikola Jokic. Maybe, just maybe he took it a little personal. Not sure. He was showing seven fingers to the crowd, saying, you know it's going to take seven games.

Here we go, and now they're going to do just that. Sunday in Denver, the one fifteen to seventy decisive knockout, the forty five point win the Wolf's largest winning margin in a postseason game since twenty fifteen when they beat Milwaukee, or I should say when Chicago beat Milwaukee by fifty four points clinching a first round playoff series win. So the largest postseason victory for any team since twenty fifteen. That's impressive. Here's the other thing I noticed last night

after the Rangers won. Chris Kreider took a hockey puck, had to have some velcro on it. They had a little like Stanley Cup and then series brackets on it, sort of like what they do in the NCAA tournament where they move forward. You know, you'll see them take their team name, slap it on a bracket, have some magnetic force, and celebrate in their locker room with everybody. Really is a cool moment. I didn't know NHL teams were doing that. I didn't know that was a thing. But it's

cool that they get involved in stuff like that. Hey, I wanted to bring this up two days ago when it came out, but we never got to it. I think we were too. First of all, we were talking more about the Jared Goff signing extension, and we were talking about, you know, the Tigers back to back shut out losses to Miami and they haven't scored in nineteen straight innings. CBS Sports came out with a poll that's not even a poll, it's a ranking. They're writers decided what has who

the best coaches are? How's that? And first of all, there's a lot more to coaching just than just what you see on the field to play, as we all know, but they took the power for conferences and ranked the coaches sixty eight teams, sixty eight coaches. Where this is hard to do, but where would you put Jonathan Smith Michigan State and Charon Moore Michigan Where would you rank them? CBS Sports has Cheron Moore ranked sixty second or

fifty second. Rather, here's what they write. Don't typically see first year coaches start this high in the rankings, But More isn't your typical first year coach. He served four games as head coach last season thanks to Harbaugh's transgressions, but won them all, including victories against Penn State and Ohio State. Plenty of coaches are ranked ahead of him without wins. That impressive, but it'll be interesting to see how More performs as captain of a ship coming off

a national title. They have him behind a number of coaches that you look at and think, no way, how in the hell is he behind this guy? Now, if you're looking for other Big Ten coaches, just to put it in perspective for you, and I mean traditional Big Ten, not the teams that are coming over Purdue. Ryan Walters's ranked sixty fifth out of sixty eight. Sixty eight, by the way, is Deshaun Foster, first year head coach UCLA sixty fifth for Ryan Walters. This is all very subjective

as far as I'm concerned, But play along if you don't mind. Northwestern's David Braun just behind Sharon Moore. Braun was the interim coach at Northwestern just before the season started because of the problems with Pat Fitzgerald, and he led the Wildcats do an eight and five record that was that exceeded everybody's expectations. If that's the case, why would he not. I mean, he's got thirteen games under his belt and a win. This is why it's so damn

subjective. Sometimes it's tough to make sense of it. Kurt Signetti is the Indiana coach. It's going to be his first year as the head coach of the Hoosiers. He's got experience, He's been at different places, including most recently James Madison, but first time that he's in a Power four conference, and yet he's ahead of Sharon Moore. I'm not saying Charon Moore should be ahead of him. I'm just giving you an idea, all right. Mike

Loxley Maryland. He's at forty one. He's coming off an eight and five campaign. But Maryland's won three straight bowl games, they've under Locksley, they haven't finished with a Big Ten. Above five hundred record in the Big Ten. Doesn't help when you're playing in the same division as Michigan and Ohio State and Penn State and Michigan State. But those are the facts. Just ahead of him at thirty nine or at forty rather is Rutgers. That's Greg Chiano.

Greg Cianna has got a pretty good track record. That's a really hard job there at Rutgers. Their facility stink, That football stadium blows. PJ. Fleck, Minnesota thirty nine. I don't. I don't get that. I just don't six and seventy year ago, first losing Big Ten record in a full season since he took over, or a second since the second year twenty eighteen. He's at thirty nine. No way would not want him on my sideline. Brett Beilama, Illinois thirty six. That guy's got a proven

track wreck. Now he also had a bad, proven track record at Arkansas. But we're talking about right now, all right again. I'm going to the traditional ones. I'm not going to Oregon and USC and the like Nebraska. Matt Rule. He went to and ten in his first year. Remember his first year Baylor, he was terrible and then he turned it around. So he's at twenty nine. Jonathan Smith is at twenty seven. Here's what

they write about Jonathan Smith. I would argue that our annual coach rankings were ahead of the curve on Smith. He's done well here on an annual basis. Now that Smith is landing in the Big ten, his profile will rise further considering the total roster overhaul that's taking place and he's lansing this offseason. I don't know how expectations should be set this season, but Smith's track record

suggests Sparty will be happy with this decision in the long run. I guess what I sometimes what I wonder when they do these rankings is do you take into account just how good of a guy, what a good job he's done in a difficult circumstance. He was really good at Oregon State personally, is just my opinion. I think he should be in the top twenty five. I'm not saying he's better than Sunny Dike's I'm not saying he's better than Eli

Drinkwitz. But I look, Jeff Bram struggled at Purdue mightily, and then he goes to Louisville and he had a really good season. I'm not saying he shouldn't be number nineteen, but John Smith deserves the same type of credit other Big Ten coaches. Kirk Farren's eighteen at Iowa, this is a lifetime achievement. Ranking plays in the weaker division. We'll see how it had.

We'll see how he does when there is no divisions, but he plays in the weaker division, has not been able to win the Big Ten title game. He does it with Look, I mean, let's be honest. Okay, it's not enjoyable to watch because their offense isn't very good. Let's see if Tim Lester changes that. But their offense just is not creative. It's not good. It's not fun to watch. It's bad. The defense scores as much as the offense. For crying out loud, But that is strictly

a lifetime achievement. Is he the eighteenth best coach in America? His all time record would tell you he deserves that respect, or maybe even more. But we're talking about to here and now, and what does he do so well? It's not easy to recruit to Io City, and yet he has found a way to do it. I can't say. I remember I use the example for teams. How many of your guys do I want? How many of my guys do you want? You could do the same thing with

coaches to a certain extent. If you're an athletic director and your coach abruptly leaves, are you making that phone call? Forget the age for a minute, Okay, are you making the phone call? The answer to that is probably no. But he's at eighteen seventeen? Is Luke Fickel. I think he's a really good coach. I have no problem with that. A guy you here in our six o'clock open when we begin Exes and Bros. Every Monday through Friday six to nine. Mike Gundhy is at fifteen, even though

they're not in the Big ten. I just wanted to give you that because he's part of the Open. The next Big ten team Penn State James Franklin. That's ridiculous. Sorry, I don't think he's a top eleven coach. No way, can't beat Michigan, can't beat Ohio State for the most part. I know he has he's had success, but I'll bet you most people at Happy Valley wouldn't mind them moving on. You think James Franklin is better than Lane Kiffin, I don't. I think Josh Hipel's a really good coach

at Tennessee. I think Matt Campbell's really good at Iowa State. Marcus Freeman's a good recruiter. I don't think he's a really good in game coach. And yet they have James Franklin above all those guys. Dan Lanning in Oregon, they're going to be in the Big ten next year. They've got him at number nine, all right. Caitlin de Boorr, who made it to the National championship last year, is at seven. I'll tell you the guy who I really really like, and they like him too. They probably don't

like him as much as I do. Kyle Whittingham Utah. I think that dude is really good, and I think he's better than number six ranking. I'd probably take him over Dabos Sweeney. I'd probably take him over Brian Kelly. The last Big Ten coach you're waiting to hear about is Ryan Day. He's number two. If Nick Saban were still around, he wouldn't. He'd probably be at three according to these, but he's at number two. Ohio State couldn't beat Michigan for a third straight season, missed out on the College

Football Playoff. But this dude can recruit. He kills it on the recruiting trail. And yes, there are times when you watch him in game you think what are you doing? No way why that's because we don't watch them every single game. I think he's a very good coach. I think he's number two. Probably not, but I think he's a top five coach because it's more than just in game stuff. I think the in game is the most important thing, but it's more than just in game. Number one.

You know who it is. It's Kirby Smart. And that makes sense. Again, if Nick Saban were around, Kirby Smart would not be number one. It'd be Nick Saban, and rightfully so, not just because of all the championships he's won, but because of how he recruits, who he sends to the NFL, what he does for college football, all that. I meant to get to that a couple of days ago. We didn't have time

to do it, and we finally were able to get it. Unfortunately, we don't have a lot of time for your thoughts on something like that, but we're always welcome a text that we can get to and bring up at a different time. We don't have to talk about whatever Ben and I have decided where the program goes. We're not like that on Xies and Bros. Anything that's on your mind, anything you think is important, anything that you

want to discuss. That's what we're here for and the Meyer Hotline. Plug it into your phone, keep it there on speed dial eight sixty six eight three, eight forty eight forty three. By the way, they have decided, speaking of college football, they have decided, courtesy of the Michigan Regents, that they are going to sell booze at the Big House. It was approved by the Board of Regents on Thursday. You're going to see the ability to drink spirits. It's going to have a Class C liquor license. So

will Chrysler Center. By the way, so you're going to get beer, wine, mixed drinks as well. Another way to bring in more money. I wonder how much that changes the tailgaters. Probably not that much, but you'll have a chance to imbibe. Once you're inside the gates of the Big House, things are evolving. We thank you for revolving with us throughout this Friday. We hope you can join us each and every day for a little bit at least, because we know you got options Here on Exis and Bros.

Monday through Friday, six until nine most of these great affiliate stations. Don't forget the huge show Bill Simonson comes your way later on this afternoon three to six.
