Today we are celebrating the Deadpool and Wolverine movie release, and we're diving into our long boxes to retell the tale when Wolverine and Deadpool first met in the comic book
world. We'll be doing Wolverine eighty eight. Stay tuned for after the show for Uncanny News segment, where we give you all the deats on our panel with the cast of X Men ninety seven, the parties and all the mutant happenings at this year's Sandyo Comic Con, as well as the latest updates on the Uncanny experience our immersive X Men fan convention. Oh yes, it's gonna be an extra large news section today. We got a lot to cover. But before we do that, I want to talk all about Woovery and Deadpool
and how excited I am to see this movie. I am thrilled. They're on a world tour right now. Yes, and we've been seeing Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds appear in Korea, Germany, London. They're going to be in New York pretty soon. Today they were in Rio de jan Narrow. I love that they're doing this world tour. I think this film people are so excited about ever since the super Bowl teaser that came out, And when's the last time you've had this like big, massive world too. I think
like Mission Impossible, did it a little bit ago or whatever? But it's like it's so rare that this happens. I think Marvel knows that they have a huge cash cow with this movie. They put everything, all the bells and whistles in it to sell tickets worldwide. So this is probably going to be the biggest hit. And you know what, dare I say it? I don't think it's going to be because of Ryan reynolds'sol. He's a big
draw, he's a wonderful actor, and he's great with the character. But anytime you put Wolverine into a project, Marvel knows very well, yes, that's what's going to make it sell. Yes, that's why he has an action figure in every wave with Hasbro. That's why he's on a thousand different covers of comics. Wolverine sells. I agree. I think the reason why huge Hugh Jackman coming back as Wolverine is what makes this movie special, so
we'll get to see it very very very soon. I've already heard some leaked cameos. I'm not going to say what those are yet because I don't know if you've heard that. I've heard nothing. I've heard you heard nothing, Well except for the saber tooth thing that they revealed. Yeah, and that's cool. Mm hmmm. Tyler Mayne. Tyler Mayne returning as Sabertooth and then Aaron Stanford returning as Pyro. So yes, I mean we know these,
but I've not heard any spoil content. Oh my gosh, since we're talking about this, Normally I would say this at the Uncanny News segment, but since we're talking about wolver in a Deadpool, I will mention this right here, right now. On Wednesday at the Scum and Villainy Cantina, we are continuing our X Men watch parties, but we are switching over. We are not doing X Men ninety seven this week. We are all focused on Deadpool and Wollver Rea in the movie, and our special guest coming in is gonna
be Lewis Tan who plays Shatterstar. He was also in Mortal Kombat. This is so exciting and amazing. So our friend Michelle Waffle, who has been a guest on this show on episode number I'm gonna test channel right now. Do you remember this, I don't know. I don't don't I remember we did an episode where it was the New Mutnons versus the Hellians. Yes,
so go back at our archive and listen for Michelle Waffle. But she's gonna be I'm having her step in and commoderate with Kevin Winston from Digital on my behalf to represent the Uncanny Experience because she is such a huge Lewis Tan fan, like level ten, and I was like, you know what, anytime that I can give somebody that special fan moment where that they are going to cherish for the rest of their life, I'm going to plug that. I'm gonna hook it up. I'm gonna plug that in. But we're so looking
forward to everybody coming out to the Scummvility Cantina in Hollywood on Wednesday. Starts at six thirty and after the Q and A with Lewis Tan, we will watch scenes from Deadpool two and then there's gonna be a really awesome trivia contest right afterwards. So come on down to scum and villainy. Awesome. Yeah, that's gonna be cool. That's really awesome that Lewis Tan's coming in. Without further ado, let's get into this issue. Yeah, so this issue
actually takes place right after the Fatal Attraction issue. That's the one where Magnito ripped out. We'reing skeleton and we saw so that seen in X Men ninety seven, which is really cool. This is a really pivotal moment in Wolverine's storyline because he has to, you know, come back from that. He has to recover from the anti Mantiam being ripped from his skeleton, and he's still trying to get his healing factor back from all of that. M he's
not one hundred percent right now. Well, and as you said at the top of the show, this is the historic first meeting of Deadpool and Wolverine, so we're going to be getting into that as well in the pages. But first let's set the era. Oh, this one's fun. So Wolverine eighty eight was published on December tenth of nineteen ninety four, and the top song was on Bended Knee by Boys two Men. Oh gosh, it's been so long and I feel like a lot of the Boys to Men's song sounds
the same. It's like down on bended Me. Yeah, something like that, but very R and B. Yes, of course when I when I try to sing it, I sound like love boat for some reason. Oyster Man are so cool back then, like they were the it. Yes, everybody had that CD? Did you have that CD? I had that CD? Yes? And I loved when they teamed up with Mariah Carey for One Sweet Day, which I recently re sang for all of us when Chad Anderson was on the podcast a couple episodes ago. So if you want to listen
to that, just go back a few episodes. So the top movie was called Disclosure, which was written by Michael Crichton, who you may know being famous for writing Jurassic Park. It was starring Michael Douglas and Demi Moore and Rest in Peace. He just passed Donald Sutherland. What's this movie about? It is about a computer specialist who is sued for sexual harassment by a former lover turned boss who initiated the act forcefully, which threatens both his career and
his personal life. Sounds like a lot of drama. Sounds like a lot of drama. Indeed, all right, let's get into this issue. Let's do it, all right. The issue was written by the one, the only, the legendary Larry Hama. Larry, of course, famously appeared on x Reads, the podcast where we recapped Wolverine Wolverine issue seventy five where it's right after the Adaman team is pulled out of his body. Go back and
listen to that in our archives at episode eighty nine. Yeah. So, the art for this was by Adam Kuber and Fabio Laguna or Fobia Favio. And on the cover, which was by Adam Kuper, we have what Chandler. Well, it's one of the most iconic Wolverine covers because it shows a deadpool holding up Wolverine skewered by two swords, and it is all done in shadow play with red and black. It's really one of the most famous Wolverine covers. So I don't own it. I would like to own it,
So Amazon wishless people out there that buy me things don't exist. But if you want to get me this cover or this issue of Wolverine eighty eight, I will accept it. Oh my god, I am just realizing. So yesterday I was on the social media as I do, perusing around, yes, and I came across one of those viral videos that Marvel hires influencers to do the thing that they do in order to advertise the movie. And there
was this amazing cake maker. Oh and you know how much we love cakes, especially the ones that look like other things and you don't think they're cake and then you'd like slice into it and you're like, oh my god, it's a cake. Yes, well, this one was of this cover life size, a life size version of this cover in a cake form. It exists. Wow. She said it was her most challenging cake she's ever made. That sounds like a lot. Oh my gosh, you know what I
feel like. I have seen this video, but I didn't want if you watched if you watched My Stories, you would have seen the video. But apparently you know watch My Stories best. Let's look right, that was a while ago. All right, Well, we are jumping into this issue and we have Wolverine giving us a strip show because he is standing at the door of this battered apartment and I guess he needs to take off his clothes. This just totally reminds me of X Men. Ninety seven. The entirety of
Wolverine on that series is Wolverine with tattered, tattered clothing. So perhaps some inspiration was taken from this moment. Yeah, perhaps, well, I feel like all moments Wolverine is always half naked in every battle. It's like I remember, way back in Claremont era, we get tons of half naked Wolverine. But yes, he is stripping down his pants and his guy's belt buckle, undone, ripping off his shirt because he is visiting the apartment of Hain
on behest of James Hudson of Alpha Flight. So he said, please go check on this guy, I believe in San Francisco in California somewhere. And he gets there. Oh, and the apartment is busted open. It is looking nasty and he opens the door and what should he find it Jempool, folks. And Deadpool is shooting his guns. They're huge, and oh gosh, he is very flexible, you guys. Is he's giving us a flying V with his legs. I mean, wow, that is some next level
Olympic gymnast stuff right there. Yes, I appreciate it, and I love how the it's Deadpool, folks. We also get a very cartoony like Looney Tunes, Deadpool popping out of a drum that's full of bulletshells now, I get it, you guys, audience, I'm going to take that back and read this headline one more time because it's dead Pool, folks. Yeah, oh my gosh, like this whole this whole issue is looney Tunes. Let's look at this apartment. Okay, so which apartment are we in? Again?
We are in Kane's apartment. Does have you know what? He's not a messy guy. No. I like the fact that he has cool things. He definitely has like the bachelor vibe, because you know who has the pinball machine, a dartboard, lava lamp box, lava lamp. You know this is a bachelor's paradise. Oh but I also to lava lamps in fact, and they also have the happy sad theater masks because of course later on we will go to the THEATA. Yeah, a little easter egg, little
Easter egg, happy sad masks. I think that's mainly the biggest aspects. You can't quite see what the frames are, the papers on the wall or anything quite yet, but we will get more details as we go into this battle. You know what I noticed in this issue as well as on this page and many others, is the fact that it covers the entire both pages and there's that split in the middle. Yes, this very frequent. Yeah, this is frequent in this issue. They love They love to do double
page or just like left to right all the way across story telling. It's really fascinating. But I do love this splash face. This double page splash page by Adam Cooper is so cool because not only is Dadpole doing this crazy maneuver with his legs in the air like that I don't understand, but Wolverine is getting a really awesome crouch move. He's got all of his clothes off, so he's in full Wolverine mode. He's got his claws out. What is up with that claw though? It's huge? Yeah, those are super
long now, it's like half of his body right there. Well, should we read what they're saying to each other? Yeah, let's do it. Do you want to be Because I'm a wild, crazy, kooky guy. You love Woverine, so it kind of just makes sense, all right. Well, Deadpool is shooting is gone a Wolverine? He says, nobody home but us cold blooded mercenary assassins. Ho ha, you would have happened to
know where old shiny Arms went off to with my ex Squeeze Vanessa. Would you hah hah huh idea big solid and put you out of your intermittable suffering. I don't accept no favors from big mouth upstarts bub, and I wouldn't stomp on your face if it was on fire. Let alone out the cane kid and his lady. I don't know, dude, I'm sensing a little gambit up in your flare. Oh wow Yeah. And then Wolverine just with a scrip just slices right into Deadpool's arm and causing him to drop his weapon.
No, you got that bub? You feel it in your guts? Oooh, that's smarts, Deadpool, Ain't it? Sort does rhymes with dead fool? Yeah, like Wolverine rhymes with uber screen Hoover sleen. Hey, what the heck does it rhyme with? You got some lip bub? You had better stop flapping it before somebody slices it off. Ooh, cutting bat
on me? Huh. They are going at it and the fisticuffs continue, and Deadpool says did you know that I have a mutant healing factor works just fine too, un Like some others I hear about Yu kiok the automouni pa of him kicking Wolverine in the face, the crack it this looks I could feel that automn a PM, I know. Look at Wolverine's lip. Yes, the exaggeration on certain things, just to emphasize the power of that blow.
Well, talk about healing factors. Wolverine jumps and he says, you're gonna need it, Bub, because you just maxed out my tolerance level. Oh, beet, old Deadpool mate it little beauty wolver wigg hums all upset, Wait till I slice and dice your face. And he's like, you know, throwing his katanas in the air rapidly. That otta take that sunshine out of a day and twist your mad dial up to ten. What's your beef with Caine? Anyway? Nobody wants that kid dead bad enough to pay
you to dice him. Speak up, Bub can't talk with a boot in your mug? Oh, because he leaps forward and gets a kick in a Deadpool space right with the stump, and Deadpool is falling backwards and says, I'm just rendered speechless by the sheer ease with which I suckered you into getting yourself up for this. Fuck. Now you can see I left my heart at Lungs in San Francisco. And like he is slicing and dicing up on Wolverine with the sword. I'm such a card. Now, why didn't I
notice that poster before? And he looks at the poster and it looks like theater and actors, you know, they're posing. It's a it's a group photo maybe after a show. And he says, Tata will rene My public awaits exit stage left, and we're on the ground. Blood is coming out all of all orifices of his body. Yes, this is a troubling time for his healing factor. It was very unreliable. So you know, as a reader, you're kind of like, oh my god, is he going
to recover from this? But this is obviously the moment that they draw on the cover, because he's got his two swords into Wolverine as the body is above him. But meanwhile, meanwhile we are now at a theataes. Yeah. Now, the thing about this is I used to be a lesbian. I have done theata as I I all right, okay, so we're gonna we're gonna compare it. Name uh top three favorite shows that you've been in go uh Greece? Oh good? How to succeed in business without really trying?
You're a good man. Charlie Brown? Oh who did you play? Charlie Brown? Who pig Pen? I would never ever expect you to get that role Schroeder with the piano. Yes, pig pen, no big pen. Yes, that was my role. I was a pig pen. Well, I since you didn't ask, was in Anything Goes? And I love that. Oh Brighton Beach Memoirs. That was a lot of fun. And Neil Simon playing mmm. And I also did you know the sound of music?
Why not throwing a classic in there? Yes? So I will say one of my favorites was Mikado because I got to be in this awesome samurai get up. I was in the chorus and it was a blast. I love the Mikado. Meanwhile, back at this theater here in the comic who
do we have? We have Caine who is holding the head of Vanessa and he's saying it's you in the head of saying, isn't this what you wanted my love and he says, no, not like this, not oh he wants to take it again from the top, because you know, he's acting, and we're like, oh, this is just a play. This isn't a headless Vanessa that he's holding. So I guess there's a prop head and he is wearing a cowboys jersey and he's on stage. I want to know
about this other character that has all the knives in them. I feel like there has no explanation of why this person has an axe in their head and all these knives. But there's a whole cast of characters in this scene. Oh yeah, it's it's very just Rando. But let's talk about mister Directal okay, I kind of feel like mister director here is kind of the stereotype of the time. Yes, like if I thought of the stereotype of a beta director, this is it. I saw him on The Simpsons. I'm
sure he's wearing a beret. Yes, he's wearing a fuzzy pink What is that scarf or something? He's got an opera scarf thing? Yes, what's an opera scarf? It's like a short scarf. It's you know, it's something you would wear it to the opera. Oh well, he's got a clipboard in hand, he's looking all official with also an ask guy. He's got this caravat or ascot neck as well. So yes, this is very funny this outfit. There are so many layers to this character outfit. Anyway,
let's continue on. Well, Yolanda wants to know if it's time for her scene because all these knives and acts in her and the ketchup used to make it look like blood is starting to draw flies ew yo. But Caine, you know, he's still trying to find his motivation. He wants to take it from the top. He's just everything is not making sense to him.
So Vanessa decides to run on stage even though he's holding the head of Vanessa and say, you know, help him with his motivation by making out with them, and that makes the director and everybody in the theater decide to leave. Yeah like the word Yeah, okay, you guys are gonna make out in front of us. Well, I'm gonna go get a coffee while you guys work out your motivations. And they get out it out, big
it out. So they decided to take it from the top, and it says, like, you know, just put your all into it, and she goes back to the side of the stage. He holds up the fake severed head and he says, it's you. She says, that's brilliant. That was so real it sent chills up my back. And he's like, I wasn't acting Vanessa, because who should be in the audience, Chris, it's Deadpool. Yeah, guys, he's been watching this whole time. Of
course Deadpool would be watching them makeout. Yes, I love that. Anyways, they go back to the apartment. Wolverine is recovering slowly. He's still very woozy, and he goes to look at the same photo that dead Pool looked at. He sees that it's the theater, but he's so woozy that he had chunks and falls face first into the picture frame, cracking it. But he's like, I gotta get out of here. I've got to put on some clothes. He fancy looking robe, yes, because he cannot look
like the way he does out in public. So his disguise a super exotic looking foncy robe exactly. Yes, I mean I feel like it's probably silky, you know, yes, probably that. Yeah, Well, he steps out into the road. A taxicab driver stops, oh, this is San Francisco, because he says, I've been driving in San Francisco for twenty years. I picked up a lot weirder than you. Because Wolverine is obviously has quite a look. The taxi is like, should we go to the hospital
or the theater? And Wolverine's like the theater and step on it. But I love how the taxi cab driver's like, well, clearly these are the two options for somebody who's bleeding out with a fancy silk robe. He knows it. He knows it. He knows what's up oo. And then we're back in the theater and we have Deadpool by Chris Riley. Who ha, who did you think it was? Kane ciscal at Ebert? Okay, pause, So kids, we ones that are listening to us that are not of
age, let me and Chandler explain who ciscal and Ebert are. Once upon a time, back in the day, there were two movie reviewers that were at the top of their game. Yes, their names, Roger Ebert and Gene Ciscol. Yes, correct, that's correct, okay, God and Cisco. And what did they do? They had a show, and they had articles and newspapers, and their whole stick was they watched the movie and they even give they either give it a thumbs up or thumbs down. And I
kind of miss it because it was very definitive. I don't like these rotten tomato meters because it just seems so random with all these scores that they're trying to compile. Yeah, and also is like eighty percent good or does it have to be ninety percent? And is seventy five okay? Because if I scored seventy five on a test, I kind of was like, that's okay.
Yeah. But Cinscle and Ebert, they were the men that came in and solved all of our problems with these stars and whatever ratings he said yes or no, thumbs up or thumbs down, and I listened, did you I believed them? Indeed? Anyway, that was ciscol and he were back to Deadpool. Your history lesson was over little Kids. Uh so Deadpool is rushing it and he says, I hope you're fighting skills have to read it
to the level of your acting. I hope, I hope, I hope, because I don't want too much of a hassle making sliced ham out of you. Ooh, but you know Cain, he actually is one of the products of the Weapon X program from Department H in Canada, and he's like, yo, I can do this. So he has these cyberkinetic arms, these metal arms that he reveals he's got a glowing eye and he is ready to fight Wade Wilson. Excuse me, I don't understand why everybody has this
glowing eye. Now, yeah, it was of the era, for sure. It's an era thing. It's an eras thing, yes, aeros thing. But he cabled and long shine table. Yeah, I know, and this guy and I'm sure others and I don't know. I was definitely a thing. And one of the things Deadpool wants is he wants his girlfriend back. But the girlfriend she's like, no, we're done, and so she comes in. This is Vanessa, by the way, aka Copycat, the girl that has been in the scenes with Keane is apparently an ex of Deadpool,
and she comes in punching him. She goes, you've got a lot of goll calling me your girl, and she is kicking his butt. Well, speaking of copycats in the art, just so you know, the pages in this issue, like the ones that were drawn by Fabio. M hmm. They're kind of like the notorious examples of what they used to call swiping. It's when you copy figures, you know, from different comics or different
artists into you know, your style in this comic. And he did that with this one and drew a lot from Jim Lee's Will Make a Red Story, which was X Men four through seven. Yeah. Yeah, So you know, if you want to see like example of what swiping is, just go to compare this issue's are to the Omega Red Story. Yeah. I was gonna say, this copycat body is silocked, And it wasn't until you mentioned this that I was like, I've seen this pose before, like literally
line for line, and I'm like, oh, that is silocked. One of her poses when she jumps and when she's holding her swords, only it's just copycat using her fist. Wow, that's so fascinating and Jim Lee boobs and Jim Lee boobs, well, that's fascinating to see this copycatting happening. But we go to the taxi cab and we have Wolverine on his way. His healing factor has healed up his face. He is ready to roll. The taxicab is just like, oh wow, that's an interesting costume you've got
on. He's like this robe, Oh, this ain't my costume. And he rips off the robe and he's like, this is my costume is yellow with stripes. And I love the taxicab conversation. It's so good. Oh yeah, let's do it. Let's do this taxi cab combo. I'll be taxi cab driver. Yes, you know, I'm a theesby myself. Hey, you got your proclivities, I got mine. Bub uh A thesbian is an actor hackings the day job. Huh ah, Yes, to trod the boards, the roar of the grease paint, the smell of the crowd.
Is that your costume? This here kimono? Nah? I got a real costume on underneath this here. Oh yeah. And he's ripping off that robe. Why does he tear it to shreds though he could literally just kind of like take it off like a normal person. Yes, no, he has to like rip through it. Well, I think this taxi cab is kind of into it too. Yeah, he says, very kinky outfit, mister,
Those blue stripes are tres bizarro. Let me see that mirror, and he grabs a mirror with a crunk and literally rips that rearview mirror off. What do you know, my ripped up mug is getting back together. The old Human Factor is kicking back in. Back to the battle we have Kane versus Deadpool. King gets a kick to the face with a whack and a punch to his back with a crack, and he's really getting his hits in on Deadpool. You know, what I have to say is that I took
taekwondo, okay, and they taught me to not kick like that. You kick like that, you're gonna break your foot, you your heel. Yes, you know. So if you're learning how to fight from comic books, y'all, don't do it. Don't it's a how to guide for don't do
this. Well, Deadpool gets wise and he decides to jump into the light, so to speak, the theater lights that are shining down on the stage, and it causes Cane to go blind, so Deadpool can get a flying kick in with a whack, and the taxicab is still flying down the streets. Now this is the streets of San Francisco, by the way, are very steep. I don't know if you've been there, Chris, but it's I've been very street. Of course, we've been there together many times.
Yeah, it's a wonder con Hello. And so the taxicab is going down these very steep hills and the brakes are out. I tell you this, but I think we just breaks ooh, and they're just flying down the street. We've got ladies jumping out of the way, and Wolverine decides that he's not even a way to find out how this ends. He literally rips the roof off of the taxi to jump out and then skateboard with a piece of
metal down the street. Oh my god, he's so rude. He tells the cab driver, if you want your fare, you got to come by the theater. I know. He just skips out on paying the poor guy, who literally is like almost gonna plumb into his death because the breaks are out. Wolverine's like, not my problem, I'm out of here. I'm not even paying you. Well. Back at the battle, we got Deadpool, Copycat and Cane aka Weapon X, which is a horrible name for a
character because that's a program. But they are going at a Deadpool as getting all of its hits in. He's able to do this back somersault kick move to kick Copycat in the face and then also double kick her into the gut while he sticks his not his katanas into the floor to kind of springboard him up. It is quite a move indeed. Ms soh Now we get back
into some more Wooverine and Deadpool action because Wolverine comes crashing in. Well, Deadpool is looking at Kane and he says, you really love her, Caine, Huh you do anything for her? Huh? Make up your mind, Sport. Are you gonna stop the sword that's coming towards your head or are you gonna stop the one that's aimed at Vanessa's heart? And woo dilemma. Yes, he's throwing one of his swords at Vanessa's heart and she's down for
the count. She cannot stop it. And Kine is right there and he could either stop the sword from coming down on his head that Deadpool's about to stab him with, or he can save Vanessa. And while he's trying to make this decision, Wolverine comes crashing in riding his piece of taxi and he
sees what's going on. He makes a split second decision to save the girl because he protects women, and he gets the sword out of the way and saves her, and he is able to use his cyberkinetic arm to block the one that's gonna hit him in the face, Caine, that is, and therefore both swords are deterred. We do get a really awesome line from Caine, who shouts on us and I could just imagine how dramatic it is,
especially since he's a thesbian. Yes, well, Deadpool's not happy to see Wolverine, and now that there's three against one, he decides that that's not worth the odds, so he decides to just depart with one word, grenade. You stole my life. I had one word, just one word. Let me say it, just one word, grenade, and he throws a grenade. Boom hea boom. Knows how to go out with a bang. Yes, says Wolfy. Well, now he is just saying that, you
know, the two of them are good together. He's glad that there everyone's okay and that they're building a place that they can call home. And he just thinks that's all special and lovely. Yeah, and also like Copycat, she's just like, oh my god, waiting not that any think about it. Hayin did not save me? He like, did not save me? Yes, but well he turns around. He says, look, look, look, look it's fine. You know why, because he had to save
himself. If he didn't save himself, how is he gonna save you? Huh? If he's dead, then I'm just gonna walk over to you and kill you. Two. That's a good. Yeah, continue having a good relationship. Don't even think about that, right? But what if I hadn't shown up when I did? This is what he says. Is he's leaving and she's like mmmm, well, she says, but you were there, and he said, yeah, but what if I had caught a cab with
good breaks? Yeah? Because that was the thing. And you know what, it's kind of like one of those split second moments of luck, like I would see something so minute like this of a detail being something that Domino or long Shot would be dealing with, Like, you know, I need to get there on time. How are you gonna do that? Let's cut the brakes on this car, and you think like everything is gonna be going not your direction, but it actually works out in your favorite in the end.
Indeed, so Pool and Wolverine that was the first time they ever met in the comic books. Yeah, I thought that there was probably gonna be a little bit more exposition to as to why they were fighting, Yeah, or hired Deadpool. That's not explained as far as why he's trying to kill Kane because he's a mercenary for hire. He doesn't do kill. That's for fun. Yeah, But you know, I think it really sets the stage
and the tone for the type of relationship that Over and Deadpool have. The banter, the buddy buddy cop bro, you know, superhero mutant thing. Yes, all right, Yes, let's start with the biggest, the most monumental, the most coolest thing in the planet for us, me and Chandler bestie's since forever in the year. It's our fifth annual X
Men fandom panel at San Diego Comic Con. Yes, yes, I remember way back when when we were little baby geeks at San Diego, before San Diego Comic com was even key and said one day, Chandler, We're gonna be on panel that's we know. We eat it with like the big stars in our eyes. Yes. Well, fast forward to twenty twenty four. We've been on many panels, but many panels, but this one is probably for me at least. I don't know about for you, but for me,
it's the biggest panel that I've ever done. Oh yeah, this is gonna be huge, especially this one and room six PCF, which is gonna seat two thousand, one hundred six people. Yeah. Yes, over two thousand people will be in this room. And I'm assuming like if it's two thousand and then we're gonna be on the jumbo screens and stuff. Yeah. Oh my gosh, I need to get like a facial like that to be
small exactly. Look at these no close ups. Yes, so we are doing our fifth annual X Men fandom panel with the cast of X Men ninety seven. It's gonna be amazing. We did a version of this at wonder Con with the cast, and it was so huge and so popular that the same people that do wonder Con also do Comic Con. They put us in this giant room because they're like, wow, we underestimated the fan turnout, and so they're like, we got to give them the big ass room.
So now we're in a big ass rope and this is There are more panelists on this particular panel than I've ever moderated before. I think we're at nine or at nine. Yes, yes, and you know that this isn't even all the X Men that are at the con. This week, but it's a good chunk of them. Like as an example, we have Leonora Zan the voice of Rogue, Alison Seely Smith who voices Storm, Pal Dodd who
voices Wolverine. We also have Catherine Disher, the voice of Well Cooper and the original Gene Gray in the nineteen ninety two series, Yes, our famous favorite new couple in the Mutant World, Gia Augustini who plays Sunspot, as well as Holly Chow who is a voice of Jubilee. Yes. And then we have Alison Court, the original Jubilee, but she is Absessa in X Men ninety seven. We have Isaac Robinson Smith who voices Bishop, and last but not least, Jp Carliac who voices More So excited for it, and
there's so much more. We are doing our annual coin op Arcade meet up as well on Friday night. It's actually super exciting this year because we got an Airbnb for the first time. Normally we're in a hotel. But Chandler, you found the most perfect airbnb. Why because it's literally upstairs from coin op Arcade. It's yes, so it's gonna be awesome. We're so excited to have everybody get together if you guys want to join us on Friday night
at Comic Con, that would be the twenty six around. APM will be at coin Up in Gas Lamp starting eight o'clock and video games are on us, so come see us and we will cover your games and super cool news for all U X Men fans. If you want to get an autographed print or a signed comic book or even a signed funkal Pop, or maybe you have a cool toy like an X Men legend or an action figure from ninety seven, come on down to the Unknown Comics boot to get it signed.
At San Diego Comic Con, all the X Men are going to be there. I'm gonna be assisting Lenora's on who is the voice of Rogue. Some famili faces will be there to say hello to two like Dylan Carter from House of X podcasts, our co founder at The Uncanny Experience, who will be
assisting Alison Seely Smith, the voice of Storm. And it's just a wonderful, amazing opportunity to get your autographs and your photos with the cast, because this is one of those conventions where you're going to see more cast than any other place. Yes, well, with the exception, if you come to one of our parties in Hollywood, because we tend to do those oh oh those Yeah. So that Unknown Comics booth number is twenty eight thirty four,
and you can find them because they are right next to Lego. So if you see the Lego booth, right across from the Lego booth, you'll find Unknown Comics and all these amazing actors and Chris and Dylan. Yes, and there are so many amazing parties this year. Like, I'm so excited to be going for the first time. You've been to it many times, I think the Entertainment Weekly party. Yes, I'm very excited. Actually, no, it will be my first time. It's the hardest party to get into.
And god, we got We're in. We got into the hardest party to get into. Yes, Hamler, what is life? I know it's amazing. Well, and there's many other parties too, of course we've got you know. Bernie's XLLY Productions has a number of parties going on, including the Anti Hero Party. Yes, Bernie Bregman is the geek Gatsby online and he is the party king of the cosplay and conventional world. And I have
such a blast at his parties. He really brings out a lot of the community to come and it's so cool because when he has celebrity guests, a lot of time they come in and perform. So Bernie's been a bro of mine since the dawn of time, and I said, let's collaborate, let's hook things up. So we're bringing in the cast of X Men ninety seven for the Anti Hero after party and you can party it up with us. And there's gonna be a very special performance, an acoustic set by Gill Augustini.
So cool. Yeah, yes, he's going to take to the stage and perform with his guitar. Can bring that flair right, Oh yes, nice? Awesome. Well, I also am moderating another panel on music. Well, first of all, I guess I'll back up. I'm going to be on a cosplay panel for Cosplay over thirty because I'm over thirty and over forty. But I will be doing that on Friday at ten am and the
Grand Ballrooms of twelve and thirteen and the Marriotte Marquis. But I will also be moderating a music and animation panel right after X Men fandomil and we will be covering projects with composers likely from x Men ninety seven. We've got the Newton Brothers coming, We've got the Kiner family who do all the animated Star Wars projects, and many more so including the songwriter of Arcane Maco, who
is so cool anyways, that will be in the room right after. And also if you're at the x Men fandom panel and you're an x Men cosplay, don't forget to go to the cosplay meetup out on the stairs. Chief Geek Photography will be your guide and you guys can get your photo taken in
the big costplay group. Yes, and Julian Judson will be helping lead that group photo ops, so check in with him because Chandler and I will immediately after the panel have to run in different directions exactly, but I guarantee that it's a good time. The photos are great. It's a lot of fun to get together with the other x Men cosplayers, and it's fun to shoot content like it's a great chance to get some TikTok and reels together for Instagram.
It's being a cosplay. I'm not going to cosplay this year because I'm working the whole time. But are you I am, Yes, Well, As I mentioned, I'm on a cosplay panel, so I better show up in a look. So I'm just bringing my classic Doctor Strange look because I polled my Instagram followers and he became out as number one, so I was like, okay, well we'll do We'll do Doctor Strange. People love him.
And I also am building a brand new look of Cable, so Cable specifically from the Marvel versus Capcom look or the blue suit with the yellow suspender look that he has in X Men ninety seven. I'll be doing that on Saturday. Is your cosplay going to have the special light up ey It's not, I mean as far as I don't have a glowing eyeball, but that's gonna be installed into my head. But I do have a flare effect I'm
putting onto my eye so to simulate the spark. Yes, yes, and you'll turn around and you can cosplay as Kane because he's got that too, indeed. And then long Shot, Uh huh, you've done launch Out before. You were a great launch Shot. Thank you. I appreciate that. Yeah, that was really fun. I would love to do that again. So Ryan Cosplay, if you're listening, please lend me that outfit because I
loved it. Yes, So there are just so many things that are coming up at San Diego Comic Con. I'm not going to go into too much detail. I will just mention things and you're gonna have to go and look it up because it's too much to say in this episode and we're running out of time. So there's a Dazzler meetup, a Dazzler group photo shoot.
The Dazzler like meetup party is at a bar on Sunday. There's there is a psychology the X Men panel that Lenora's a Rogue and Alison Ce Alison Seely Smith who plays Storm, are gonna be on and they're going to talk about the psychology of their characters. Yes, and right before X Men fandom, Larry Houston will be giving a panel on the making of X Men ninety seven and x Men the animid series with some of the creative talent that had put
the shows together. There's a lot of going on. Oh and Bubba Buba breaking news. If you didn't break it, Deadpool and Wolverine are going to be at Comic Con this year. Yeah, literally dropped right before we recorded this podcast. I know you have to go into a lottery though I put my name in and stuff, and I don't know who is going to win. It's everybody's on pins and needles. Who gets to know this panel?
No, I know. I put my my email, my name in as well, and yeah, I just got to get everybody I know to enter for me, because you can bring a friend, so ps, bring me, yes me, tell me, bring me, now me. But that's not all. I am the real to share that upper deck because I'm a trading card fan, is bringing out X MEN ninety seven trading cards exclusively for San Diego Comic Con this year. It's the only place you're going to be able to get these x N ninety seven cards. The co creator a Bishop.
He is going to be there and he's going to be signing the Bishop trading cards. So cool. You go and get that signed, and then you walk over the Unknown booth and meet Isaac Robinson Smith, the voice of Bishop, and then you got two signatures on that card. And that card is all of a sudden worth a lot of money. Yes indeed? Okay, Well, speaking of X men ninety seven exclusives at San Diego Comic Con, let's not forget one hundred percent soft. They have gorgeous collectible enamel pins.
We have the Mondo booth which has Mondo collectible figures. They are debuting Cyclops, but the like the X Men Arcade version of Cyclops with the bald cap look whatever. And they also have the Colossus Juggernaut figure that they're releasing
at San Diego Comic Con. So crazy X Men exclusives going on. Yeah, And you know, for anybody that their ears perked up when I said trading cards, because you're a big nerd like me, We had the Matt Dumfert, the talent coordinator for Upper Deck Trading Card, come on episode number yeah, So tune into that one to hear all about the behind the scenes making of Upper Diect Trading Card. So much stuff Sandio Comic Con. This is going to be legendary this year. Mm hmm. But that's not all.
We've got the Uncan experience in September. Yes, that's right. It is fast approaching. We are in go time. We're in the moment where it's just like all right, we are hunkered down and we are getting through everything, and we are making all the announcements that we can left and right, and we have a bunch of announcements here for you right now. As a matter of fact, I have a very u a very hot solar flare coming at you. Why because Sunspot is going to be in the mansion.
Amazing, he is coming. He is the voice of Roberto DaCosta Sunspot from X Men ninety seven, and he's going to be coming to the Uncanny Experience for photo ops and autographs and he's gonna be on the panels. So come to the Uncanny Experience to meet Gee. Yes, and you can also meet the incredible artist Tyler Kirkcam who is now a guest at the Unking Experience.
We are very excited that he is joining us thanks to Unknown Comics, and he is also going to do the art of our con exclusive comic book that we'll be releasing and revealing very soon. So Tyler Kirkham, he is known for his incredible variant covers. You definitely would recognize how he puts characters in beds looking at picture frames with sad forlong faces. But he's just amazing.
So you get to meet him at the uncan Experience as well.
