Hi everybody. This is Chandler, and this is Chris, This is Stephen, this is Peyton, this is Cold, this is Sarah, and you're listening too. X ree. It's the podcast on into episode one oho eight. We are here to reminisce and remember the incredible Uncanny Experience that happened earlier in September of sixteenth and seventeenth of September. And Chris and I here are very excited to have our special gas. These are all ticket holder attendees.

I got to experience it firsthand, yes, and we want to learn about all of your experiences. But yeah, we'll take it to the top for the audience. So yeah, the Uncanny Experience is an event that Chris, myself and Dylan Carter produced. It is an immersive fan convention for x Men fans. It was two days at the Minneapolis Club in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and we converted this historic mansion into Xavier Institute with special guests, activations,

dazzler, karaoke so much and it was a blast. Let's tell them about how it all got started. What was our original story? Yeah, well, I believe it was yourself and Dylan and I talking about how there was a lack of X Men content. You know, we are all X Men fans. We have our podcasts here, Dylan has House of x Podcasts. We are all involved in the X Men community. There was a lack of

X Men events. You know, there's a Xena Warrior Princess Retreat, there is Buffy Khan, Power Rader Khan, anything, But where's the X Men fans supposed to go? So we're like, let's just do a convention at like a hotel. And we're like, no, no, no, let's level it up and we're gonna do Xavier Institute and let people feel as if they are going to the x Mansion. And thus we started on this journey. We toured the Minneapolis Club. It was just perfect, and we're like,

this is it. We're gonna do this. We're gonna do this in Minneapolis, Minnesota, of all places, and we're gonna make it happen, and I'm so glad we did. Now this is where you guys come in, because you all are ticket holders who randomly saw this event pop up somewhere and it sparked your interest. So we're going to get to that. But first I want to know on your journey of X Men fandom. When did you first fall in love with the X Men itself? Was it the comics?

Was it the animated series? Was it the movies? I just want to get to know a little bit more about you. Yeah, so let's let's go with Steve first. Stephen, Okay, well, my introduction was a combination of the Artcave game that existed in my bowling alley, and then the pride of the X Men cartoon kind of went along with it. I've gotten to see that when I was really young, and so those characters were just exciting and mysterious to me until I figured out where they came from.

And once I discovered the X Men, I was all in, awesome, what about you? Peyton? For me, it was that very first episode that aired Halloween Night in nineteen ninety two. From there it just kind of went on. My brother got a X Men I think it was either number fourteen or fifteen for my birthday. That was a couple of months after that, and then I was like, Okay, this is it in print, and from there I was sold. Let's jump down to Sarah. Mine was

actually X Men. The animated series credits sequence, like the end credits I happened to catch them, and it's like, well, that looks awesome. And then I remember the moment I was eleven years old and Scott and Jean kissed and I was like, there's kissing on Saturday morning cartoons. I am interested, and so that I was diehearted to the animated series. My first comic was on Candy three eighteen, the epilogue to the Phalanx Covenant. It was all over, mm, good one, good one, Let's go to

Melissa. I got involved in it because of the animated series. It was. I would think I was fourteen at the time, and I told Chris Claremont that it was either the perfect age or exactly the wrong age to encounter Gambit. And I was in love from then on. And I would go to the comics shop and buy comics and it was, you know, it was the mid nineties and not a whole lot of girls doing and doing that,

and it was always so awkward, but I loved it. It was so great, amazing Colin Uh. I remember the cartoons as a kid, and they just didn't speak to me. I think because I was so young that it just felt like an adult cartoon animals. But I always loved Sean Ashmore and animals, and my dad one day was like, hey, the Xman movies on, you should watch this, and I saw Sean Ashmore as Iceman and I was like, I know that actor. I loved that actor.

And I was hooked by the powers and just all of a sudden, it was like, wait a minute, these aren't just like normal humans. These are mutants and they all had different powers, and I was hooked. And I actually started doing online r GPS. So that was like D and D back the day. I get out a forum and we go back and forth and do this. I can see someone who were laughing, but yes, we would write out our x my characters and do that, and yes, guilt persons. Then I have been hooked, and I mean it's I

love it. I just can't get away from it. I love every minute of it. So this was definitely the event I had to be at. So yes, well, speaking of because I made you go last, because I had to draw attention to you. You were the first ticket buyer for the event, and you will forever be minted as the very first ticket buyer of the Uncanning Experience for all time. Yeah, back to Chris's question, I'm just curious what made you hit that buy button first? Yeah, where

did you see us? And what was your reaction when you saw all the promotion or advertisement? Oh my gosh. First of all, you guys are super kind. I feel like the base laser for buying the first ticket. But I will take that, Thank you very much. Gosh. I think I heard somebody like mention it on I'm gonna blame Frank Old Fashioned Herd.

I'm gonna blame him. I think he posted something on there about this event coming and I was like, hold up, like I need to know about this, Like there's never been an X Men con, there's it doesn't exist, This is no way. And I looked it up and I saw that it was in my backyard, Minnesota, which no celebrities, no one ever comes to. And I was like, I'm buying that ticket. Like I'm sold. I was like, take my money, now, take it,

take it, take all of it. I'm going so yeah, I'm gonna blame Instagram and I'm gonna blame Frank Old fashion Nerd and like and then I actually upgraded my ticket too because I heard you guys are like, you know you buy the ticket and then these two, these three start giving little sneak peeks and they're like, Oh, we're gonna have this. We're gonna have this, We're gonna have this. And next thing I know, I was like, there's gonna be customizable badges. I had to have one. I

have to have one. So I became the I P and it was definitely worth the money again, and my wife just kind of laughed and she's like, what are you buying now? And I'm like, don't worry about it, don't worry about it. This is this is my life now. I'm just gonna accept it. And yeah, so first ticket holder, and I think I was the first one to upgrade and I will hold that, but yes, Instagram and other cause players and then I think from there it just

kind of took like wildfire really quick. So yeah, awesome. We'll also when it took off like wildfire, where the Omega tickets, Oh my god, sound alarm found there's two Omegas in this chat and you guys are Omega. Ticket levels slowed down out within twenty four hours, which shocked us because we set a high ticket price with a bunch of perks and we're like this is going to be a slow trickle. You know, people don't want to commit that much right away, but you guys proved us wrong. So I

want to know. We'll start with Melissa. Where did you hear about the event and what made you decide to go full on Omega. I am such

a nerd. I have a LARP group and my LAP group, which is like a second family for me. They know that I am a huge x men can and so they somebody in the channel was like, hey, I think you might be interested in this, and I was, and I kept I like it must have been just a couple of days in or very early, because I kept looking at the Omega ticket and I was like, but all of this stuff, all this stuff I had to I turned to my husband. I was like, don't say a word. I'm not you live

your dream. Amazing, amazing? What about you, Stephen that you know? I'm sure I heard about it on social media, either on one of the house pages or on Instagram, but you know, just the ex event that's my one true love. So like having the chance to have that immersive experience where I get to go to Xavier School as a mutant was something that like was a dream come true to the ten year old child within me. So like I had to buy the best, most all lacksst to that experience

because I wanted it all. Yeah, well, I thank you so much for being early adopters and jumping right in Peyton. You have a really great story because I saw your stories on Instagram about your journey of deciding to come to this event and then your very heartfelt recap of your trepidations of going into it, and then how you ended up at end. So before we get into how you feel about the event, well, how did you finally get to pull the trigger on that? It was just that thought of it's a

once in a lifetime opportunity. It was like, Okay, I may not be able to afford it twice, but if I can afford it once, then do it. You don't know what's going to happen tomorrow. So it was that that chance to be in the mansion, and I had to take a thing. Then Sarah, we land on you. I think I first

discovered it like others on social media. Immediately my interest was piqued. I live in New York, I have a very I'm from the Midwest, but so I have a very soft spot for any opportunity to kind of come home to that region. But I was thinking about it, and so I sort of knowing the back of my mind I was going, but I hadn't pulled the trigger yet. And finally I told my boyfriend, I said, we're

gonna go. I want to buy tickets, and his face just fell and I'm just like what And he's like, I got you the tickets for Christmas and it was oh amazing. So and I told him, I'm like, don't even worry. I like, I'm so glad to know what it is. I'm so glad we're going. I'm so excited. So he was ahead of me on the game. Awesome. Well, we are so grateful that you guys had faith in us to pull this off because, you know,

this is obviously a first year event. Chris and I come from event experience, so we kind of knew what we were gonna how to do an event, but we had never done it in the space, you know, we had never done this kind of immersive experience, so this was this was the first for us, and we are so excited that we get to continue because earlier on Instagram Live, we got to say that we are going to do

year two. It'll be called Sophomore Year. We'll be giving up more details as things kind of finalize and you know, papers get signed, etc. But for now we can confirm it's going to happen again. So do you have another question for the group? I have plenty. Oh, I have so many. I just want to go through your journey for each and every one of you, Like when you first saw the venue and the interior itself when you were exploring it. So as a Minnesota native, I mean,

I never knew that building existed. I've lived here my whole life, and I've been in Minneapolis. I used to live down there. I didn't know that buildings this and so when I saw it, it was like my first thought was like, Okay, this is in New York. And then I looked at it again and I was like, this is in Minneapolis. How

have I never seen this? The outside is intimidating. You don't expect that much inside to be in this building, but you kind of take a deep breath before you walk in because the outside is just so beautiful, and then you walk in and it's almost everything you think it's gonna be I remember reading about where everything was going to be, like registrations here, and pick up is here, and this is here, and you walk in and you're like,

okay, everything's going to be crammed into one spot. No, it was amaze, Like, I'm pretty sure I didn't know what staircase I was going up or going down to find what everything was, and somebody's like, well, it's on floor too, and then you're like, how many floors are there? Like it almost felt like Hogwarts going up some of those stairs.

You didn't really know where you're gonna end up. But as as big as the venue was, it was also small enough to where I felt I was never missing anything, And you also just felt like you were in the mansion, Like every room felt like, you know, it belonged in that mansion, and you guys did such great details with even some of the rooms that didn't we couldn't even go into. I remember walking down the hall and it's a danger room on one door, and I was like, cool,

I can't go in there, but it's nice to know what exists. And you go farther down and there was another room, you know, So even just seeing logans room, I had no clue that even was going to be there, and that was just kind of like a Okay, somebody lives here, this is this is even cool. I don't even know where you guys got that bed, Like where did you find a bed to throw in there? And just throw this room? And so it was gorgeous. It really was. The venue I think was my favorite part. Just you know,

I go to CONS. We all go to CONS and it's concrete floors, it's loud, it's echoing, and it just doesn't feel it feels like you're just in a giant school gym. And this made me feel like I was at an event that surrounded by what I loved, and it also felt like an event that was what we were doing. We were in an x men mansion. That's what it was. And you can't convince me any you know otherwise. I'm like, I'm sorry, I know that that's not the mansion,

but that was the mansion. And for those who didn't see it, it's hard to say you know the details. When you walk in there, you're just gonna experience it in You're gonna be like, yep, I am where they told me. I was, so yeah, it's gorgeous. It's really gorgeous. I can't stop complaining about it or I'm menting about it. Excuse me. So how about you, Melissa? Do you have any thoughts to share about the venue itself? Like them seeing the mansion when I got

there. I got in Thursday night so that I could spend Friday looking around Minneapolis because I'm not from there. And I stepped out of the taxicab in front of the building and just walked up to it and looked up, and it was I was there, you know, it was it was. I was at mansion. Finally I was. I was in a place that I had seen in my mind a million times, and then it looked just like

it should It was wild. So I get in and I actually was lucky enough to get to stay at the at the Mansion, and goddess, such a thrill. It was like being a student because everything everything looked like It's like Colin was saying, everything looked like it should be there, like nothing looked out of place, nothing ruined the immersion at any point. It looked like they had set up a It looked like an orientation of it for the

students. And you could go places and seep it. The Logan's room was amazing, and I had known that was going to be there, and it was incredible. Oh, I'm so glad Colin brought that up. The but the large room that was where they had the perceptions and the party. Everything was so intimate, though. It was like I kept running into the same people and it was like you're going to school with them, and that was

that was the most amazing part of it. The location was so incredible, you know, just to echo what folks has said, it was just wonderful,

and I think it was such a nice surprise. We were staying at a hotel just around the corner, and so I almost felt like it was like the best kind of ambush, right where it's like, oh, we'll go over there, we'll go pick up our badges, and because everything else's city, and then there are these gates and this beautiful mansion home and it really just looked perfect and similar to what other folks have said, I was so the thing that surprised me the most was the interior, because I feel

like sometimes with the historic buildings is the exterior that gets preserved and then the interior, you know, it's kind of hit and miss what you might get, but instead it was it was through and through exactly what folks said,

what you would expect of the mansion. And actually one of the moments I enjoyed most during my time there was I just needed a breather in the opportunity to just sit in that lounge on the first floor, you know, and just be in that space as opposed to doing in that space was really special.

The venue was absolute perfection. It's that thing of thinking back to the first X Men movie in two thousand where you see the kids like running away from the mansion and they kind of do this aerial helicopter shot and you see the mansion from above. It was that same kind of feeling. And it's funny because I feel like I'm getting checked up, but it's it was, like I said, it was perfection. There's one thing that I say to

myself a lot, which is value is perception. And there may be people out there that aren't exant fans and they're like, oh, you know, there's this con you know, whatever, you go do your X thing, whatever that is. But for the people who are a part of this big X family, it was exactly what we wanted everything we needed and more, and we appreciate it. Yeah. No, the venue definitely added to the magic of the experience. For sure. I would actually be way more interested

in hearing how you guys found the venue that was so perfect? A good question. Do you want to take this one? Chandler? Yeah, absolutely, So. I live in Minnesota now. I lived in Los Angeles for the last twenty years. I just moved back. I grew up in Minnesota, moved back to College Point. I'd never seen the building before in my life, and it's been there obviously since the eighteen hundred, so it's crazy to think that, like, I just never went down Second Avenue that far.

When we were looking at locations, I remember we were. We were actually circling a different location in Saint Paul at the neighboring Twin City, and the interior also is very stunning, but it didn't have the exterior quality and it was my dad. My dad was just like, Oh, you're looking at that venue, well, why don't you also check out this one. I know somebody who you know is on the board there and they can give

you a tour. And so I was like sure, and I met up with the person, and then they showed me inside and I was like, oh my god, this is it. This is absolutely it. This is not just going to be halfway like feeling like the expansion. This is going to just feel like it all together. Because it had that exterior quality that just made you when you walk up to it, you're like, oh wow,

this is it. Yeah. And when I did the initial tour, I just you know, I knew it was perfect, and you know, ideas start flying and you're like, Okay, this is what we're gonna do. This is what we're going to do with these rooms. This is how we're going to make it immersive and make people feel like they're there. And the Minneapolis Club staff was all on board. They had never done anything like this. The Minneapolis Club, for people who don't understand, is a members

club, so it is for people that buy membership. Has athletic facilities, it has a restaurant, has these kind of you know, banquet rooms, It's used a lot for weddings. So they are used to this kind of more high level clientele vibe because you have to you know, there's very rich people that have memberships here, so going up to them and be like we want to storm your building with a bunch of comic book fans. Like they

were all about it. They're like, that sounds exciting honestly because they're like, you know, we need new energy, we need we need fresh bodies, we need we need life in this building because you know, these institutions are kind of, you know, falling to the wayside as people grow out of that society. So they were all in. They jumped in, their staff was in. They were so excited. The guy at the concierge desk was hilarious because I was like, I'm so sorry, you must be so

overwhelmed by all these people. He's like, are you kidding me? There is more life in this building that has been in years. So he's like, I really appreciate that you guys brought this event here and you chose us. So they were very appreciative as well. So I think it was a very reciprocal situation. So the of the guests that we had, did you get to interact with any of our special guests? And do you guys have

any stories that you want to share. My biggest surprise was when you brought Daniel Couldmore in again X Men movies that was kind of my origin story. So seeing clauses, I was like, I got to meet him up and that's where I met Perch and we talked and she was kind of like, yeah, I followed him too, and I was like, yeah, I just you know, it's an X men. I gotta get his autograph.

And what was really cool about this if we waited in line and then we're brought back into like an and I sat down across the desk from him, and if people don't know, he's really tall, and it's it's astounded to see how tall he is. And but we sat there like He's like, gosh, I feel like I'm giving you an interview or something like that. I was like, yeah, this is great. And I'm in like full cosplay, so I have half my face is covered with face paint and glitter.

I was Iceman that day, and so I'm a little intimidated meeting the celebrity like him. But at the same time, I've done it a couple times where I've been in makeup and but he was just the nicest guy and it just blew my mind at how down to earth he was. He wanted to have a good conversation. We were there for ten minutes. I think it's not longer talking X men and costumes and all sorts of stuff. And I know I talked to a couple other people are like, yeah, I

talked to him for about like ten fifteen minutes. It was so down to earth and what really set me, I mean, what really made this difference is that the celebrities and the guests that were there were walking around and just saying hi to people. I mean, I had a conversation with cal who is the voice sub logan. He just was talking. And I know Rogue was walking around just having conversations. Chris was walking around having conversations. It

was like they didn't want to be stuck in a room. They wanted to enjoy the experience as well. And that's what just made this even better because at other cons, you're not going to see Jensen Akles their time welling and walk around and just you know, talk to you. No, they're gonna be behind the curtain. This was like all the celebrities, all the guests

were just happy to be around you and talk. So that's what really made this really exciting was just to see these celebrities, these people and then just talk to him again, like I talked to Daniel I think about three or four other times, just Hey, how are you doing. Oh, I'm having a great time. Awesome, And so that was really the awesome thing about this was just they were there to experience us as much as we were and don't get to see that at other cons. That's what made this really

cool. I'll tag on a little bit about Daniel Cudmore. It was fun. He was complaining about how they wouldn't let him use a Russian accent, and so he did a Russian accent for me, and yeah, it was quite hot, to be honest, it was accent. So that was fun.

But I gotta sit down and have a one on one with Larry Houston, which was really cool, and it was really exciting to talk about his experience, specifically being a black man early on an animation that was doing so many of these favorite cartoons like X Men and like Johnny Quest and like Ninja Turtles and all these other things, and it was really cool to hear that he's going to passing the reins down from the new X Men's cartoon to a

black, queer gentleman that's leading the production. So I thought that was really cool. Yeah, you brought up an interesting point. As a mega ticket holder, you get these one on one experiences, Melissa, I know you also had a one on one you chose Lenore. I believe Lenora's on listen.

I was a kid and Rogue was That was the voice of Rogue for me, like, for the rest of my life, this is the only sound I hear when I read the comics and I'm reading something Rogus saying, I hear it in her voice, and I'm for Memphis, and I have a Southern accent and it's not as pronounced as it was when I was a kid, but that's because people subtract at que points when they hear your southern

accent. It's terrible. And this was a character who was Lenora's performance was so vulnerable and so strong, and she was smart and she was capable and she's super powerful. So it was a huge moment for me to finally meet her and she was just so lovely. We were talking and it's not just her voice acting work, but I'm a fan of either. She's gone on to do great stuff as a member of government in Canada, and she makes me so proud to be her fan, and I was so nervous about saying

hi to her, but they were all there at the Omega reception. Like I went up to the bar to get a drink and Caldata is there, and I'm like, I don't I am not saying anything. I don't know what to say. But by the end of it, you know, I am hugging Lenore. And I told Chandler in the elevator, I was like, I told my husband, it's over. I'm in love with Lenore's on and I don't know she'll have me, but I am definitely just moving to

Canada with her. I love that. Yeah, you mentioned the Omega Reception, which is our Friday night get together within the mansion with the Omega ticket holders and the celebrity guests and the Cosplay guests, And that was a blast. That was what a wonderful way to start the weekend right. That was

amazing that the Omega Reception was everything I wanted it to be. I had chosen my dress very carefully, like it was like a whole girl chat going on about I think this is the dress that I'm going to wear to meet these people. And I I went in there not knowing anybody and came out of there with five friends because everybody was just so nice. You were so nice. And when I finally did work up the courage to like say hi, little le noirs, we're all sitting at a table. I've got some

of the other omegas with me. And she was an absolute delight. Everybody was so sweet. Well, I want to ask a question now, who here was able to attend the Hellfire Club ceremony? Great, raise your hand, yes, so okay, So Stephen, Colin Melissa were you there? No, that's right, you were too distracted by Dazzler. You were dazzled by Dazzling. You missed your rs VP too many regents of a Rocco.

Yes, so, Stephen, we haven't heard from you in a minute, So why don't you tell us what happened in the hell Fire Club ceremony. No, the hell Fire Club experience was a lot of fun. It was a lot of mystery, to be honest. They they allow you into this room and don't really tell you much of what's going on. But then they started up a little bit of chatter about you know, queens and who we support until our queens made their presence known. To us in very exciting ways,

and it was a great time. The characterization was a lot of fun and I liked they they I don't know what we're allowed to say, what we're not allowed to say, but that that we were maybe promised that there would be more to come from the health Fire if we kept our souvenirs from it. Yeah. Yes, you're referring to those that attended were given a member card as on their way out. I understand some people did not get

them. Maybe they were too dazzled by what was going on. We had we had laminated kind of health Fire membership cards and the instructions for those of you Collins holding one up right now to hold onto it because it's going to unlock benefits for a year or two. So don't don't don't let go of

those health Fire membership cards. I want to talk about our panel programming, because you know, we had the lecture hall and we also had our classroom, and there was different things like Intergalactic Social Studies for people who want to learn about the alien races of the x ME universe. There was Mutant History one on one top by Chris Claremont. There was so many things going on

Deadpoll, the musical that was also screened. So of all the panel programming, tell me each of you which was your favorite and what was your reaction to it? So why don't we start off with Peyton, my husband off screen is yelling the POC panel, which was definitely one of one of our favorites. We got to see brown chick outlaw talk nerdy to me, real

names escaped me of course, and you're all with a great smile. But it was interesting to see everyone's perspective, especially girl with a great smile. But Jordan was you know, she was talking to us about not only being Asian, but being trans and the discussion of how even people within their own race looked down on other members of the same race, and the funny thing

is it happens in all races, which is absolutely ridiculous. But it was a beautiful discussion just to hear ideas bouncing back and forth to hear, you know, to see people kind of open up to seeing, you know, outside of what they you know, may have you know, had a opinion when they walked in, or just the thought of okay, I can see it from this person's eyes. Now I'm a little bit more attuned to what's going on. I don't know, something ridiculous like that, but it really

was nice just to to get there. And you know, of course, me being black, gay man, have my own things that I'm thinking about while I'm here in this this classroom discussion. It's just like, Okay, yeah, I see that, I see this. Oh, I had no idea about that. Wait, this is something that we do. This isn't something that we do. You know, just all those kind of thoughts in there, and it really was beautiful just to see the whole whole thing.

Apple, Sarah, do you have any favorite programming woments. Yeah, my friends and I've spent the past year podcasting about the animated series, and I've I've obviously watched it when it was first broadcasting and reruns, but since I've

revisited it so recently, it was so special too. I had Mettler Houston before in San Diego, but I had not met the Lee Waltz, and I had not been in the presence of any of the voice actors, and to hear their stories altogether, and especially to hear the voice actors interactions, and to be honest, just to watch them play with each other because you know their performers at the Tootators. It was a real gift to be present and to witness that. Okay, you mentioned that you're on a podcast.

Give a shout out. How can people hear it? Sure, it's Jean dash No with four Ohs and Exped the Animated Series podcast. You can find us on Spotify, Apple, and Google. You can find us on Instagram and Facebook. Please join great, go listen to that. Everyone. Let's see anybody else has any programming elements that they want to bring up, Any favorite panels, classes, anything that kind of stood out to them. Melissa, the panel that the Juggernaut built. The guy who did the Juggernaut built

game. It was absolutely extraordinary. I loved seeing his process. I loved him talking about because he does. If you didn't see it, the Juggernaut is a gigantic cosplay build that he's created, and like the Torso, he's got it like he made a frame out of PBC to hold it up. It was extraordinary and it made me like want to do all of these amazing big cosplay builds. It was so inspiring. The cosplay programming was excellent.

I really enjoyed the Crocoan age class that was taught by the Wilders. There's a lot of discussion just about the ethics of motivation behind a lot of the decisions and the world building, and it created a lot of fun dialogue in conversation. But all those classes were really well thought out and well done. So you guys did a really good job on the creativity of that programming. Thank you, Sarah. You had another point you wanted to bring up,

you know, I did. I actually wonder though if maybe this will be covered in another section. Actually, one of my favorite parts was the non traditional programming with tarot and the meditation and the exercise. As an avid congoer, having those things interspersed were really number one immersive, but number two just fun because it wasn't consuming in the same way like it wasn't a selling floor

going shopping. I wasn't only listening. I got to have some interaction and do some activities I wouldn't normally do in that environment, and that was just so cool to me. So did you do a push up with Wolverine? I did many push ups with We also squat. He had real faith in us. He basically had us doing burpies and it's like that is confidence, sir, amazing. I love it. We mentioned earlier cosplay Rogers, Cosplay Class and the Cat We had a cast of cosplayers that were specifically assigned to

certain roles of the action. What was your guys' impression of the cosplay and did you get to interact and with any of our cosplay guests. I definitely interacted with a bunch of them gambit through beforeing Loop, I didn't realize he was part of the guests. He was selling character and I was like, how are your eyes? And He's like, my eyes are always like this, And I was like, oh, you're a character. Oh okay,

you're a character. You're you got this down. The stick was on fire, I mean during the the cosplay contest, she had that audience in the pulm of her hands. And it's funny because she's such a nice, nice person and she's like, I hate being mean to like two people, but she did it without really being mean. She was just being mystique and you

respected that. She'd be like, all right, get off my stage, or you know, you may clap now, or they all did such a great job and it was just the little details that they put into each of their acting and that just sold it. I mean you were just like, yeah, that's uh, that's definitely the secret there. And that's the fun with cosplay. I mean it doesn't matter what shape, size, gender or whatever. I mean, that's them and that's all it took for us.

And I know a lot of people enjoyed that too. Oh yeah, I was gonna say for London and her mistique also one, her makeup was flawless, but two, just because she was so in character, she was almost scary. I didn't really want to like go up to her because I was like, she might knock me out, so I'll just kind of, you know, take a step back. She passed by in the hallway of my husband dipped out of one of the classes to be like, hey, I gotta get a picture. You kind of take a picture, and that's that's

where the picture came from for her. But my first experience walking in going upstairs was seeing Alicia as Kitty, and I kind of felt like I attacked her. I don't think I really did, but I was just like, oh my god, it's you. How's everything going, You're kiddy, this is beautiful. I love being here. That whole that whole thing, just

like a kid again. So when you guys kind of were looking at the rollout of the event, social media posts, et cetera, with the cosplay guests in particular, because you know, we would announce them and kind of feature them a little bit throughout. Were you excited to finally see it in the flash where you're just like, like you said, Peyton, you were just like, oh my gosh, you know it's or it's the Juggerna because when you see Roger as Juggerna, it's just it's breathtaking. I feel he's

he's so incredible. He and Black Tom were coming up the street as I was coming down the other side towards the mansion. It was surreal. I saw people literally stop their cars in the middle of the street and get out to take photos of them in front of the mansion. Just regular people from

Minnesota, so impressed by it. Yeah. Absolutely, we thestique and I and Juggernaut were out of the lawn and I think we were just just doing some pictures and everything, and this family pulled up in a car and we're just kind of screaming and they're like, what is going on? You know, there's all of us are in the yard and he just started I'm taking them on in the car and he's like on the Juggernaut, I'm gonna come and get you. And London as mystique was playing on it, and there's

actually a video of me. I was Chamber and I run up and I'm like, you gotta go, you gotta go. They're gonna get you. They're gonna get you. And he was just kind of going to the car. They were screaming in the car, they were laughing, they had their phones out. I mean, that was just an experience for them to see,

Like it's not something you see down in Minneapolis every day. You know, you're not seeing a whole yard filled with comic book characters, let alone x Bed And Yeah, there was definitely a lot of people walking the street while we were outside who were just like can I get your picture? Can I can I what's going on? Like what is happening downtown right now? And I think that the fact that the even stating character for these people who

weren't even part of it was just amazing. And I just remember London and them were like that was awesome. Just seeing this car just kind of peel aw Eggs. They're like, oh my god, we're we're around these people, what is going on? It was awesome, It was it was totally cool. Yeah, the cosplay was one of my favorite parts of this event. And it was really cool that this was like all X Men focused cosplay,

so you gotta see some really exciting characters. The ant get to see like Revenge and and like the like nineties X Factor Hilaris, some ladys Olalandra, like some really great characters, So that was exciting. Soft Serve was there, but like the amateur cost play was almost as much was just as much fun as the pro cost Like the pro cost players looked amazing. The

attention to detail was so incredible. I couldn't even bring myself to speak to the Gambit cost player because I didn't trust myself, but oh my goodness, they were so gorgeous, and the siloc cost player every single tiny little detail, and they talked about the Mystique cost player and how great she was and how in character she was the second day, the Juggernaut came back and he was in his Omega red build and it was extraordinary. Everything was so it

felt like you were there. I especially loved the siloc cast player who is facility hating the cerebro upstairs. That lent a really nice air of authenticity to that. And I'll also say, as an amateur HAS player, I went to this Negasonic teenage where headpoke to our listening. Don't know, I have my head shape, so it's an easy one. But what shocked means, you know, I wore it in San Diego and maybe one or two people

knew who it was, even at their hell Fire gala. But at this one, the number of people were like Negasonic were just like it was such a good feeling, And yeah, it definitely gives those of us who are amateur something to aspire to. Can I just say, Sauce Serve broke me. I had no idea who that character was. This girl was walking around with ice cream cones and I thought they were real, and I was like, where is this ice cream? Why can't I like where is the ice

cream? And then it was like the first night, don't at the party. I was at home and googling Sauce Serve and I was like, who is this? And let me just say, when I found out how Sauce he got her powers or what her powers were. I was like, that's enough Internet for tonight. I'm gonna go to sleep because I'm just gonna say it. For those list things, you should just gonna gole saw a serve and look up her power set and you'll understand why. It kind of breaks

the internet a little bit. And Marvel character development, but unique powers, unique powers. That's that's all IM gonna say. But I was like, it is time for bed, I'm done now. The weekend concluded with a graduation ceremony where you were all given mutant diplomas by Professor Chris Claremont. He gave a little bit of closing remarks. Everybody got to walk up to the stage and receive their diploma. Have you kept your diploma, where are you

keeping it? And what was the experience like for you? And we'll start with Stephen. Yeah, I still have my diploma. I haven't decided what I'm going to do it yet, but i'd probably get it framed and probably put it somewhere to show I'm more proud of that diploma than high school diploma.

So you know, yeah, No, I thought that that experienced the graduation was a lot of fun and it was a lot of fun just to come together at the end, all of us just fans this group of mutants that we all grew up to love, and you know, just to do a last big thing together. That was really cool. Yeah. I still

have my diploma. It is currently in between the pages of Eric and Julia Leewald's book because that was the heaviest thing I had and I had to like roll it out and like, I wanted this flat so I can frame it. So right now it's just kind of pressing. It's simmering a little bit, but I still got it. Uh. Yeah, mine is pressed between a Star Trek manual and some D and D book because I got to frame it and it just needed to roll out, So yeah, press and let

it sim refer a little bit too. Mine isn't the same spot. It's being pressed between two books. I'm gonna I've got broke out my calligraphy pen so that I can write, you know, a really fancy name on it and frame it. Are you going to write your own name or are you going to write like a mutant name? That's a tough call, man. Can we tell. Let's say that Perch was like the MVP of it and parch wants to write her her name on hers and I was like, I

could do that. I could do that. I was alarmed for a moment there because I thought, oh my god, where is it? And I realized that it is in the poster tube. It is in me and my boyfriend shared poster or tube in Queens. I'm going to get it this weekend, but my graduation had is being warned by a large stuffed gorilla on the sofa over here. Perfect. Perfect. What did the uncanny experience mean for you as a fan? The experience was an amazing moment, an amazing memory

for me. Here it is a week later and I'm still getting like teary eyed thinking about it. I'm looking at people on this call and every single one of your faces I saw around there, and even though I was afraid getting there walking in those doors, we were all students and that was the best thing in the world to me because it was like, hey, there's such and such from from that class, and I'm gonna be in this next period with someone else, and it was beautiful. We are all just big

nerds, but we love each other and it's awesome. So yeah, it's thank you guys. From the bottom of my heart, which I have said before, but yeah, yeah, I'll echo that and say that I think the most amazing part of the experience was that so many of us who are probably if i'd marginalized, felt probably so alone growing up and felt very connected to these characters and maybe only had these characters to tell them it was okay to be different, and so for all of us to like come together and

have each other in person in real life, it was instant friendship among the whole mansion. Every clashing me went to everyone you sat next to, everyone that was at the hotel you were at, like was just happy to see you and that you were part of it. And we were all just celebrating each other and the X Men and this thing that we all loved that brought us all together. It was an amazing experience in that way. I just wanted to say another thing, like with a smile brings a lot out of

someone. You know, we're all introverts. No one wants to talk to anybody. And I'm going to call Sarah out because I was in the Chris Claremont line and you walked up with your podcast sticker and I was like, you're Nega sonic. That's awesome. Second, you're just You're like a ray of sunshine. And that's what we all really need, is just that that one little strand to kind of pull out your inner geek, I guess. And then once you do that, and then we're all like set and happy.

That's the nicest Thank you, Kat, to echo what other folks have said, I mean, to me, the message of the X Men is, so what if you're different? We love you and there is a home for you and for anybody who's ever felt different. I think that, at

least for me, that's like the hook into the X Men. And I feel like I got to see that live during the cosplay competition, because I feel like I got to see if was that there were some folks who looked real nervous, and there are some folks who had made up their own characters. And the amount of support that I saw everybody give everybody just for like

showing up and being themselves. It was it was one of those things I natural I've ever experienced that live and it was so special, Melissa, So it was it was just a dream come true for me, and what it

meant to me was sound family, not being alone. You know, you get into a when you're in a fandom where there's not a whole lot of media right at the moment, it can feel very lowly like so there haven't been you know, there hasn't been a movie in a little bit, there hasn't been a cartoon in a long time, and you know, but getting there together with all the people who were still reading the comics and people who had come in through the movies, and everybody had come in like a different

way, but they were all there to share one thing, and everybody was so happy to be there, and I just immediately felt at home. And the attention to detail, the thought behind it, the intention that making a safe space, that it was absolutely a safe space. I never for a moment felt like there was going to be any trouble for me, and it was that was so important when you're going into a new environment. And you guys did amazing, You did amazing. I am so proud of you.

I'm so proud that I got to go to the first year that you did. This are great. If I could go to school here and replace twelve years I went to regular high school, I would do it in a heartbeat. I mean, the the atmosphere, the feel of just safety. Like everyone else has been saying, I would go to school at this place every single day if I possibly could, because it just felt so nice. The thing that really stood out about this was there were such new things that I,

as a person hadn't really experienced. And one was there was a drag show and I, you know, somebody's like, do you want to go to drag show? And I'd be like, well, do I have to pay for it? And they'd be like yeah, and I'd be like, no, I'm good. There's a drag show and I'm open minded. And it was amazing. I don't think if somebody said, you know, like you're going to see a drag show today, just no, it was it

was entertainment. It was impressive. I honestly don't know the name of the show a person, but they were more athletic than I was, and that was impressive. And then the Dazzler Show. You guys had a step in Dazzler, And again shout out to Dylan, Chris and Chandler for just making this whole thing come together. And I know you guys, I saw you running around with your heads chopped off, and I'm like, remembered to have

fun. Every time I think I saw you, Chandler and Chris and Dylan, I was like, slow down, have fun, just have fun, enjoy what you have right now, because this is just amazing. And you know, we all know, like you know, especially with cosplay as a cousplayer, we see our little mistakes, and I'm sure you guys saw them too, but we didn't see that saw an amazing experience. And the Dazzler show, I mean, yes, that wasn't probably the Dazzler you chose,

but for us, it worked perfectly. And the cause players that got up there, the guy who did Banshee, oh my god, I think the chandeliers were like literally if people had experienced, the room was screaming, and he portrayed the character perfectly. And his wife was at the hell Fire Club and she's like, I've seen him before this but never like here, and she was so bummed she missed it. And I'm not one for karaoke either. But the show was amazing, and yeah, the school, everything down

to the whole experience was just eye opening. And I think, like everyone else had said too, there is a lot of things that we all have insecurities of and there's things that were not really excited to venture into. I know, Perch said, you know, I'm very introverted. This is a

con I haven't been to in years. And she fell in love and she said just the you know, being around people that felt safe, like Molisso saying, and Sarah, you know, and everyone you felt safe, and that's something that you really wish you could get out of high school and then to be in a mute school where everyone's got their own identities and you know, sexual orientation. You just we all came together and you just saw the person. You saw the family. No one was different. We were all

just one family. And that's something that I really enjoyed, was just seeing everyone feels safe and had fun. And again, shout out to you three for putting this together. You guys did the live broadcast earlier today and I cried when you said, oh, Collins Chamber was one of my favorites, and I'm like, I must have worked so hard on that and just to have like a shout out for you guys and just from everyone, and like like Sarah was saying too, the amount of like creating characters. I think

kill Kenny is that his name Kennedy was Kennedy. Oh my gosh, and and there's devastation, and I think there's a third one too. We felt safe to create our own characters and bring them into the space, and no one was like, oh, who are you? It was what can you do? Like, I'm so excited to Farrell what you can do and what your backstory is and who this character is. And that was something you can't do at other concepts on something you can do with some of your friends are

gonna be like what are you? What are you? Why are you wearing a pink wig? And you're like, I'm you know, I'm ice cream girl. You know, like that's it's just it's fun. And that's the best part about this whole experience was bringing creativity, yourself, feeling safe and being able to have a great time. And again, I can't I know

we all can't thank you guys enough for bringing this together. And I think you got all of us got to round your finger for the next ticket holders, so also, well, I will I will fill in some of those blanks. A shout out to Mischika Shadows, our drag performer. She opened up for our dazzler, who was Lauren Asheim, And yes she was a replacement, but she was fantastic. She actually came in nailed it and she was amazing. And Chris and I Dylan always joke that we so wish we

could just go to this event. We just wish that we could buy a ticket and go to it, because you guys were having so much fun and you were expressing such gratitude to us all weekend, and we appreciate everybody that came up to us just to say this is amazing. Keep it going. Yeah, try to have fun. I know, like as Colin you were saying, but you know, we are also passionately trying to make the show

go super smoothly and be as entertaining as it was. So it's also very rewarding to just get that feedback and if we are working so hard behind the scenes to make sure that you guys are having a good time, because we did have a good time at the end of the day. You know, we we got to enjoy you know, the karaoke, the hell Fire Club, We got to you know, get to interact with all of our guests and you know, be in the graduation ceremony. You know, Chris Claremont

gave me a diploma. It wasn't expecting it to turn around and just give one right to me. So it's like we also got to participate as creators. So it was a lot of fun. I want to also make mention that, uh, you know, if you guys are listening and you want to follow us on social media, you go to the Uncanny e XP on

a Twitter or x or Instagram across social media. Or we also have a Discord channel, which Melissa is all over, So if you want to interact with Melissa on every level she is, she is all over our Discord channel, which is great. She is the mother head of this Discord channel and I love it. It's a lot of fun. So if you guys are Discord members, Melissa, why don't you give a shout out to discord listen. I love to scored. We've run my lark out of it and so

I use it all the time. And it was just very natural for me to transition into this family here and I'm having this Discord is so nice. It's so much fun and I'm having the best time, and I've so many people have joined post the experience that this whole week has just been me going. You were that persted and I am already Hey, I've completely stretched out,

made myself at home. Come see me. So yeah again. If you guys know Discord, if you're on Discord and you want to reconnect with people that you met over the weekend, maybe you forgot to exchange social channels or whatever digits. Everybody is kind of joining this Discord to kind of keep

the community going. My social media presence is strictly limited to arguing with randos on Twitter, so if you want to talk to me, come at me on Discord misball on or Discord Cool Sarah.

Sure you can follow me personally on Instagram and Muscle Theater muc e k Al Theater. The podcast is Jeane desh No with four ohs and me and my collaborators also have an x Men holiday musical that is theater ready. We've developed it in Seattle and New York called Xmas a very musical, So if you have a theater or a space, we want to know about it. Awesome, beautiful. Well, guys, thank you so much for taking the time to come relive your experiences at the Uncanny Experience and tell us all about

your feedback. We really appreciate you taking the time and we can't wait to see you sophomore year. Wow, that was super special to be able to talk to the ticket holders of the event to get their perspective. Yeah, absolutely, no, it's We've been receiving such incredible feedback from everybody that went, and it's been it's been amazing. What was your favorite moment of the

event. Oh, was there any like special things that happened, special things that audiences or attendees might not catch just because you know, there's a lot going on. Yeah, that's a good question, because I felt like I was all over the place. But I will say my favorite thing to witness

was Alicia Wilder's burlesque performance. Oh yeahalifier clop, because this was a collaboration that we worked on together once we decided because of your suggestion for a burlesque performance and she agreed to it. I collaborated with her on the whole concept of stripping into Selene and doing the wig reveal and everything like that. So witnessing it, witnessing your creative idea kind of you know, embodied in a person was really amazing and oh my gosh. She also brought in the cellist,

Yes that's right, which was like such a great touch. Yeah, it's funny and invent planning everybody. I think one thing to make clear is that things are changing rapidly, Things are jumping in into your mind. And the cello player, Charles Aush is his name. He is a classical and electronic cello player, and he came in and really elevated the Hellfire Club experience. And earlier we talked about Michiqua Shadows coming in as a drag performer.

That was just an amazing kind of addition as well. So what was your favorite moment? Well, there were so many magical things that happened, Like cal Dodd came out and he's a beautiful singer. His voice is so captivating, and I didn't, you know, necessarily think that he was going to be singing and performing in front of people in that capacity this weekend. But I manifested it. I said, you know what, Universe, I want

this to happen so bad. Well, in the Rose Row, where people were waiting in line to bet, you know, the different celebrities like Chris Claremont and whatnot, there was a piano and he just, I guess, felt cold, and all of a sudden, there was an impromptu performance by kel Dodd, the voice of Wolverine from Ximen, the animated series, and it was amazing. So many people got Instagram video of it, so you know, if you're listening right now, try to look it up. I'm

sure you'll find it somewhere. I got a postmine, I took a like thirty seconds while I was running around. Nice. Yeah. My favorite kel Dodd moment, of course was when he posed in the bed for Wolverine. He put the photo frame I X went the animated series. It was just inception upon inception. I couldn't believe it that he went and did that, And so that was one of my favorite standal moments from Cayl for sure.

Oh my gosh, it is so amazing. Yeah. So we had a cosplayer and psychic Taro reader come out who is my friend Phoenix, and she read Taro for everybody throughout the weekend, you know, telling them to or helping them unlock their muteant power potential. A lot of people had great reviews

about it, and you know, really was impactful for them. But something that was special for me and my friendship with her is the fact that I know that Phoenix, the character written by Chris Claremont and Dark Phoenix, that

whole saga was so important to her in her lifetime. We all have the stories that we connect to the most, you know, and for Phoenix, it was the Dark Phoenix saga by Chris Claremont, and she was sitting in the back of the lecture Hall, you know, at graduation, right before we were about to start, and she wasn't really you know, up front

and participating with everybody. She probably felt like an outsider. And in that moment, I was so glad that I saw her as I was passing by, because I grabbed her by the arm and I said, no, your cosplay guests, you're one of us. You're gonna get up on that stage and you're gonna, you know, get your diploma from Chris Claremont. And there was a photo that was snapped of her receiving her diploma from Chris Claremont, the writer of the Dark Phoenix saga. That was just so special.

It's such a life memorable moment for my friend to have. I was so happy for her. Yeah, she looks so happy in the photo. Yeah, yeah, No, that was a beautiful moment. And I really I was really taken by Claremont's reaction to everything, because I think he's been to

so many conventions, you know, throughout his life. He's you know, in his seventies, and he this is the first time we did this, so he didn't know what he was getting into, and I think he came at it with a little bit of walls up, and then by the end of the weekend, it was all walls down and he was so involved.

It's so happy and like, as more and more and more elements were revealed, his creations were kind of coming to life in front of him in an environment that he also imagined, and I could just see on his face the joy of that realization of seeing Tarot a hellion that he created, doing Tarot readings in the room, watching the White and Black Queen and the hell Fire

Club, you know, doing this saucy routine. You know, Like I could just see that he was just so enamored with what we were doing, and that was really special to see see his face throughout the weekend, just being so in love with what was happening. And looking back, there was just so many cool meta things that we're so awesome that we did. You

know that, just as a fan, my nostalgia was on overload. I mean that Pizza Hut spoof commercial, yes, that we produced with Eric and Julia Leewal, the architects of our childhood, recreating an iconic thing that I used to adore as a kid. Yeah. Now, the run up to the event, of course, was a lot of fun. You know, we did so many promos. We shot that sizzle reel in the in the mansion. There was a lot of fun, creative things that we were doing

to try to express what this event was going to be like. And you haven't even talked about what it's like to sleep in the mansion. Oh my gosh. Yes, I slept in the Xavier Institute. Wow. Okay, so at night it's kind of creepy because you're all by yourself and it's like a big old mansion. But I gotta say it was so it was so awesome to wake up and walk down the stairs and there you are in the

school. Like there was moments where I kind of like was walking around the hallways just letting my fantasy like take over and be like, yes, this is real. Yeah. I highly recommended. The Minneapolis Club has about like what ten rooms, and they're nice. You know, you don't feel like you're in a dormitory of the school. It's not like a school dorm. It's a hotel room. But they're nice, old tower rooms, very old fashioned. And I took a bath, oh lovely, because I just have

a shower at home. But I was just like I'm going to be luxurious and ever bath inside the X eighter. It's top manship amazing. But yeah, I loved it. I loved every moment of it. I loved every moment of the weekend. Yeah, No, it was really beautiful. It was it was amazing, And I just will say the amount of feedback has

been emotionally overwhelming for all three of us. We keep sharing your posts, your stories, your photos, everything that we see shared we see and it's been it's been an emotional roller coaster processing it because one, I think we were just at our end of energy by at the end of the weekend. But what I didn't anticipate was everyone's sense of home. I knew that they were coming in to have fun, and I wanted them to have fun.

But what I didn't anticipate was everybody's emotional connection with the event, with the people and the sense of safety that they mentioned in the in the episode earlier. That really struck me and yeah to an emotional level. So it was pretty cool. We're internally grateful for all the help, Like, we did not do it just the three of us. There were so many people that helped out all. Oh yeah, all the staff, the volunteers, the

cost players. Of course, everybody really stepped up to the most amazing level of support. Yeah, and I'm just there's way too many people to think a thousand, but I'm just gonna give quick shout outs to Colbert Cosplay Nikki amazing helped out so much. Ticing what an MVP. I lost my voice. Yeah, I could not direct photo shoots and usually I'm out there, you know, directing the photographers, make sure the cost players get where they need to be. I could not speak at all. I'm still like,

you know, gaining my voice back. But Tyson stepped in. I was like, he's just tell me what you want me to say. And I was like, Dyson, you have to direct the shoot entirely. And He's like, okay, I got it, and he just like jumped up on the wall and you know, Spider Man his way up that. Yes, you know Vanessa, which is so good as Emma Frost deliver that speech beautifully in Elish show. With that Help Fire Club reformance, It's like, I've

never been so turned on by somebody putting on their clothes. Yes, like you know, brainstorming that and coming bring that to life for the Help Fire Club Channeler. That was brilliant. I'm really happy with it. So yeah, you know, is there anybody else you want to jump in there with a quick thank you? Oh my god, Darryl Daryl, thank you so much. X Factor Files podcast Darryl. He yeah, he helped out run the lecture hall. It was a big lift for him, and I'm really

grateful for him. I mean, there's so many I don't I don't even know where to begin, but you know, Samanthan Regina, thank you so much for being our support system as well. You know, it goes on and on. Of course, Dylan, who's not on the podcast with us, Yeah it's Dylan. Yeah, you know, Dylan did an incredible job splitting all this work with us, wrangling the cost players, taking charge of all that sort of stuff. So yeah, like I said, it was

a whole village of people. It wasn't just us doing it, so you know, and in order to do it again, we need even more people exactly. And the great thing is it's like so many people into community, like we're so inspired. They've been reaching out saying hey, I have this skill or I do this craft, like I want to be more involved in participating now about you know, you know, we're a community and we are

building and yeah, we want to give people a platform to shine. Absolutely absolutely well, thank you all who attended, and if you didn't attend and missed out, don't miss sophomore year.
