I'm so glad that you're here . You are listening to what the fuck did she just say with your host ? That's me , sandra Priestly . I'm all about living our best life and finding our zone of brilliance and then removing the resistance so that we can go all in .
I say random , crazy shit , which is why I called this podcast the way that I did , and I really hate long drawn out intros , so let's fucking go .
In yesterday's episode , I talked about the one thing that happens when we choose to go after a goal that we have set for ourselves , when we decide that we want to achieve some sort of dream , no matter what it is .
What always happens and the thing that we need to be cognizant of is that our negative thoughts will creep in , and no matter what we call that . If we call it our limiting beliefs , we can call it our dick brain thoughts , we can call it I mean , there are tons and tons of things that you can call these thoughts .
You're a mean girl , it doesn't matter what it is . I choose to call it the bitch in the back seat , and I did a full episode on this , episode 42 of season two . It was a really good one and I really just talked about that . No matter what goal you've set for yourself , the key to achieving it is to reprogram your limiting beliefs .
When you have those thoughts that are going on in the back of your mind and those thoughts say this is never going to work , aren't you really tired ? You deserve a break today . All of that bullshit keeps us small , keeps us stuck and keeps us from achieving one step closer to our goal . But that consistency , that daily reprogramming ah , it's the work .
That daily reprogramming , oh , it's the work . As soon as I did that episode , I thought about that movie Talladega Nights with Will Ferrell . Have you ever seen that ? Have you seen that movie ? Will Ferrell gets an opportunity to drive a race car his dream .
He ends up being really quite good at it and winning all of these races and sort of turns into a bit of an ass . He then gets into a wreck and what happens is his mindset starts to take over and he believes that he's injured when he isn't . He's riding around in a wheelchair when his legs work fine .
Riding around in a wheelchair when his legs work fine , and his dad , who he has had not much to do with , ends up being the person that helps him . What he says is this that because he saw the fear , because he drove , had this wreck , this crash , and he found that fear , now he has to figure out he's going to be driving with it .
He has to figure out how to drive with the fear until it can dissipate . So his dad puts a cougar in the back seat of this car , tells him that he's got to learn to drive with the fear or this cougar is going to kill him . And I thought about this as ridiculous , as ridiculous as it is , karen , which is what Will Ferrell ended up calling .
This cougar , karen , is your bitch in the back seat . It is so easy for us to set a goal and commit to it for two days , three days , but by day four , the fear starts to kick in .
Things start to happen , we start to tell ourselves this isn't going to work , we start to doubt , we start to shame , we start to feel guilt , we feel all sorts of emotions , and motivation is tied to emotion . So we can't just expect to be motivated every single day . We can't expect to be driving our race car without the bitch in the back seat .
We have to learn to drive with it . One of the things that I love about Sarah Blakely , who created Spanx and also now has created Sneaks , which is heeled running shoes . Basically , I thought they were a swing and a miss , but dang , if I was wrong . I mean they're everywhere viral .
And what I loved about that was she tells a story about how her dad gave her Wayne Dyer tapes and she was listening to Wayne Dyer all the time , but he also talked about celebrating failure . At the end of the day , he would be excited for anything that they had accomplished , but he wanted to know what they tried and failed at .
Because if you try and fail at something , but he wanted to know what they tried and failed at . Because if you try and fail at something , you're pushing yourself , you're stretching yourself , and I think a lot of the times we make everything mean so much .
We have one shitty day where the bitch in the backseat takes over and starts to drive our car and we give in and the next thing , you know , we're feeling shame , we're feeling guilt . We fucked up , we fell off the wagon and now we had way down the rabbit hole to nowhere in our thoughts .
When we can neutralize that , when we can just go for a goal , set our daily intentions , our daily practice of what we're going to do and make success be just doing something towards the goal of the day and then analyzing how it went . That's success . And in the work , this is what we're going to be doing .
I want to help you reprogram your bitch in the backseat , and this program that I'm starting January 1st , called the Work with Sandra Priestley , that's going to do it . We're going to focus on daily actions and I know that you're going to be sitting here listening to me saying I really want to join . January 1st is a perfect day .
And then you're going to say but what if it doesn't work ? But what if I can't ? But what if I fail ? And what I'm going to tell you is there is no failing , because every single day , we're going to be looking at what we did with this objective lens and go . Did I complete my tasks ? Yes or no ? Why or why not ?
Next , there's this beautiful nexted energy that we're going to get into and every single day we do that , we get closer to our goal . Let's go . Thank you so much for listening . I hope you've had some laughs , maybe some ideas , and that you've been inspired to take some type of action toward the life you've always dreamed of .
If you feel so called , I would love it if you would share with your besties and leave a review down below . I look forward to bringing you along on this journey and I will see you in the next episode .
