¶ Finding Your Zone of Brilliance
I'm so glad that you're here . You are listening to what the fuck did she just say with ?
your host , that's me , sandra Priestly . I'm all about living our best life and finding our zone of brilliance and then removing the resistance so that we can go all in .
I say random , crazy shit , which is why I called this podcast the way that I did , and I really hate long drawn out intros , so let's fucking go .
I had the most incredible coaching call this morning and I came on here because I couldn't not talk about it . It just lit me up Like you wouldn't believe .
She is currently a virtual assistant and she's kind of had this like nagging sort of I could do this differently , I could have a different type of business , and I know that I could do it well and I know that I could do it better than what I currently see . She was telling me this is what she was thinking .
She wanted my opinion , but then what happens , naturally , is all of the blocks , all of the reasons why not start to pop up . This is not because it's not her path . This is just because this is what we do . As soon as we see something that's exciting but it'll take a leap of faith Our brain is going to go whoa , whoa , whoa , whoa . What are you doing ?
No , you know what we need to do . We need to play smaller , we need to pull back , we need to just stay safe . Let's just stay in the same shitty business , the same shitty career , the same shitty spot that we're in , because we know this you don't know what's out there . It's a big old world .
There could be lots of things that are going to be problematic . Our brain will do that . The power is understanding that . This is the way we are wired and we can either work around it or we can work through it .
But when we get that intuitive decision , when we get that intuitive hit , when there's something in our minds that we just can't let go of , what if that's the universe saying move your ass ? What if that's the universe saying this is for you , I'm telling you , this is for you , I'm telling you this is what you're meant to do ?
And then you get to the end of your life and think , fuck , what if I just take ? When I heard that in my mind and I couldn't let it go , where would I be ? What could I have done if I just gotten over my bullshit ? All of the reasons why not is just your bullshit , and that's that resistance that I love to help people work through .
I love it so much . You have no idea . And I just listened to my intuition and we move . So there's sort of a process that I helped her through that I want to talk to you about and what I really really want to say is this is kind of like the most basic process there is .
I customize all of my coaching for every single person because I think we're all so different . It's just like one diet might work for me and another diet might work for someone else .
My husband and I are working with a naturopath right now a naturopathic doctor and so he and I are both struggling with chronic inflammation , and so he's taking this one supplement that is so working for him . But when I asked her , he accidentally bought an extra bottle , and so I said could I use that ? And she said no .
The reason that I can't is that his inflammation and my inflammation come from two different places , so one method will work for him and another method will work for me , and we are like that . Everything should be customized , because one size does never fit all . So I'm going to try to give you the framework and then know that you need to know
¶ Coaching
yourself . In this , or when you're working with a coach , they should need to know you . There's a process when you're coaching where you get to know each other so well , and this is what I believe that most people don't do well . Most coaches don't do well .
They don't get to know their client so much so that they can customize what will work for them , and that is one of the things that I did that earned me two national leadership , coaching or leadership awards , and that's what I do now with my coaching .
I get to know you so well , I know what will work , and it doesn't take me long because I listen to my intuition . Anyway , this is sort of the framework that I want you to look through , and it kind of has four aspects to it . So the first one is awareness . The thing that we look at is we look at where are your strengths ?
Being aware of like what you are best at , where is your zone of brilliance ? What can you do with your eyes closed ? What are you known for ? What do you do so effortlessly and easily that it is a gift from God . We need to know that , because otherwise this is just shooting in the dark and you're just trying to follow along with every other person .
The second one is you need to be aware of what you don't like like , know what you do like and know what you don't like . You know because otherwise you're creating a business , you're creating a life , you're doing a plan , whether it's weight loss , but it doesn't matter what it is , but if you try to do to follow something that pisses you off .
It's never going to be successful . We spend so much time in our weaknesses , trying to think that we're going to have to fix our weaknesses in order to be successful , and that's just bullshit . All we need to know is what do we not like ? What are we not good at ?
Oh , okay , now we know what shit piles to avoid , but where can we find that path that is meant for us and it might be the path less traveled , but I'm telling you it's the one that you will feel is right for you and we find that . So it's an awareness of our strengths and what you like and what you don't like and what you're not you're good at .
That's where we start awareness . Number two is expect blocks . Once you found all of that , expect that your brain is going to come up with blocks and don't make yourself wrong for it and don't sit and roll in it . Expect the blocks . Then number three is work through those blocks or work around them .
Sometimes the blocks that we have are just complete bullshit and we can work through them . Do some mindset work to work through them . You know those look like I don't think I can do this , because I think I need more training . I think I I can't do this without a website .
I mean we can work through that bullshit and create a plan that feels good and , just sort of like , talk yourself through all of those obstacles that you put in front of you . But sometimes it's working around them . Sometimes it's , like you know , coming up with a new way , a new out of the box thinking .
Sometimes it's creating that white space what can I do ? That's different , that aligns with my strengths ? When you know yourself , do you work through this or do you work around this ? Is this situation a big enough block for you to halt ? If it is , I wouldn't waste my time trying to mentally work through that .
I would go let's take some fucking action now and let's work around it for now . If you want to work through it later , we can do that later , but let's work around it now . And the fourth one is have fun in the process . We forget that when we do things that we love , it's fun . This client of mine she loves colored pens , organizers , highlighters .
She loves colors , she loves making things fun , she loves journaling , she loves writing , and so when she was creating this new type of business that she knows some of because she's in that field . But she's also seeing that she can do it a little bit better . And I know she loves colored pens and all those things no-transcript .
Grab some paper , grab a whole bunch of different colored pens , grab some colored highlighters and grab some colored dividers and start to write little tabs on those dividers Leadership , pricing , name , options , current blocks , like currently , why are things not working in this industry and how can I do it better ? This is sort of the mindset shift .
This is like her taking a step towards her business without actually going and creating an LLC and hiring a lawyer and getting some contracts designed and hiring an accountant and getting a bookkeeper and all the rest of that shit . That's not . That's down the road . Let's start to sort of mind map what this new business will look like .
Now here's the thing I probably would not give that recommendation out to the majority of the people and if it resonates with you , good , go for it , do it .
But I know , I know that she was going to be so , so excited when I said it , because I know she loves color , I know she loves organization , I know that this is so much of who she is that it would light her the fuck up . She was so excited . She said I love this and I knew that she would . I would be . We just got off the call .
I'm sure she's probably in her car , driving to the nearest Staples or Target or whatever to purchase these so that she can start creating , so she can start her mind map , so that she can start to , so she can start her mind map , so she can start to create this business . That is only in her mind this morning and now is becoming more of a reality .
We have to have fun in the process . If we don't have fun in the process in the way that lights us up , we're going to get very , very bored very quickly . We're going to get very , very bored very quickly and we're also not going to take action towards the goals .
The best part about what I do is when I'm using my intuition , just like I did this morning . The person who takes action right after I get off the call , that person can make millions of dollars . It has happened . I'm not joking , okay , so I'm going to
¶ Take Action Towards Your Dreams
go over them again . The first one is awareness . The second one is expect blocks . The third one is work through or around those blocks . The fourth is have fun in the process . And the fifth is take immediate action . Now go do the dang thing . And the fifth is take immediate action , now go do the dang thing .
