Speaker 1

I'm so glad that you're here . You are listening to . What the fuck did she just say with your host ? That's me , sandra Priestly . I'm all about living our best life and finding our zone of brilliance and then removing the resistance so that we can go all in .

I say random , crazy shit , which is why I called this podcast the way that I did , and I really hate long drawn out intros , so let's fucking go .

Well , it's Feng Shui Friday and it is the last Friday before Christmas , and so I wanted to come and talk to you about how you're feeling , because , if you're like me , around this period of time December 20th to the 24th I start to get a little anxious . I start to panic , thinking do I have all of the gifts ? Have I wrapped them all ?

Are there some that I've purchased months before and I've forgotten about and I haven't wrapped ? And do I have equal amounts of presents for people ? Did I miss anyone ?

And then I'm also thinking okay , what am I going to have for meals for Christmas Eve , christmas day and boxing day , like , do I have all of the recipes that I'm going to have and do I have all the ingredients of what's on my grocery list ? I'm going to need all of this shit .

And , by the way , just a few days ago I was talking to two different friends and I mentioned boxing day and both of these friends are in the US . Both of them said what's Boxing Day ? I had no idea . I thought everyone celebrated Boxing Day . I did not know that people in the US didn't celebrate Boxing Day .

Like this is such a shocker to me , and then I started thinking what the fuck is Boxing Day Like ? Where did this come from ? So I Googled . So , first off , boxing Day is on the 26th and so typically it's really really good for shopping . In Canada . I always used to say that our Boxing Day shopping was more like Black Friday shopping in the U ? S .

I remember one boxing day that my husband was at the West Edmonton mall and it was like wall to wall people and that used to be the biggest mall in the world , so like I don't know how many hundreds of thousands of people would have been in that mall , but it would have felt .

He said it was just almost unbearable , like you just moved like a big cement block and that is pretty much what Boxing Day used to be like anyway . But I didn't know , so I had to Google and it turns out Boxing Day is celebrated . It's originated in the UK who knew ? Not me . It's celebrated by other Commonwealth nations . Okay , makes sense .

When I read about the history , it said that it originated in the Victorian era and it had its origins in giving gifts to people who were in need . The gifts were often given in boxes , which is why it's called Boxing Day . Well , what the hell ? Like who knew ? I did not know this . So interesting , right ?

Because honestly , like my friends asked is do you box on that day ? Like , is there like boxing ? You know boxing events ? No , no , but celebrations . Boxing day is associated with shopping at big box stores , just like I said . But it also says watching sporting events like horse racing and rugby .

I have never watched horse racing or rugby on Boxing Day , but I have watched hockey . So there's that . It's also about spending time with family and eating leftovers from Christmas dinner , which is totally , totally the truth . Usually , if we have leftovers , that's what we're eating , and we might add ham , we might add some other things .

It's just like widely considered day off , unless , of course , you're working in a store , then you're not , then you're probably wanting to pull your hair out . Anyway , I didn't anticipate this to be an history lesson on Boxing Day , but I'm really excited that it was , because I had no idea history lesson on Boxing Day .

But I'm really excited that it was because I had no idea the origin of Boxing Day and I had no idea that not everyone celebrates it . So this was good information for me .

But what I wanted to come here and say is this if you are feeling overwhelmed right now , if you are feeling so strapped and so stressed , like you feel like there's not enough time in the day , I want you to just stop and think what one thing , what is the one thing that I can do in my space right now that will give me the biggest amount of peace ,

because a lot of times , we focus on so much more , but we don't focus on what is the one thing that will lead me to the greatest amount of peace , so that then I have more room in my day .

For me , the greatest amount of peace is for me to focus on making sure that one area of my home is clean , neat , tidy and ready to go , and usually that will be the one that I don't spend the most time in . So it feels like , okay , I'll clean the spare room and the basement .

We don't go there very much , so then it's done and it just feels good , like it's not going to be distract , it's not going to need to be recleaned . The other thing that I really like to do is focus on making my bed every single morning .

If I make my bed in the morning and I make sure all the clothes are put away in my room , my bedroom is clear and clean . There's no clutter on the floors . There's no clutter anywhere . And clean . There's no clutter on the floors . There's no clutter anywhere . When that feels good to me , I feel as though I'm in control .

During this period of time , it's really about being in control being in control of your thoughts , being in control of your actions and not feeling like you're scattered .

So in order to do that , we need to try to have as many places organized and clutter-free as possible , because if your space is organized and clutter-free , your brain is organized and not scattered .

Choose one space , choose one thing that just feels like that will give you the greatest amount of peace , and prioritize that this weekend so that by the time Christmas Eve comes , christmas Day comes , boxing Day comes , you'll have that space and that time to relax . Holidays should be enjoyable , and so we want to enjoy them as much as humanly possible .

Let's try to organize our space to give us peace in our thoughts . Okay , have an amazing day and we'll see you back here tomorrow . Thank you so much for listening . I hope you've had some laughs , maybe some ideas , and that you've been inspired to take some type of action toward the life you've always dreamed of .

If you feel so called , I would love it if you would share with your besties and leave a review down below . I look forward to bringing you along on this journey and I will see you in the next episode .
