At the beginning of each episode, I say that I "say random crazy shit" ... and one of those random things is that I refer to getting caught in the distraction as eating a sandwich.

You know ... set a goal to follow a strict diet and then ... eat a sandwich (aka RESISTANCE TO THE GOAL).

I love working with sandwich eaters ... cause I AM one.

I know resistance WELL ... and I also know how to navigate it.  This episode is a sneak peek into my OWN brand of resistance and the negative things that I have made achieving it MEAN. 

I hope that when you listen in, you can identify the negative associations that you have made to YOUR goal ... and then you work to fix that shit!

Reprogramming the Subconscious Mind

I'm so glad that you're here . You are listening to what the fuck did she just say with your host ? That's me , sandra Priestly . I'm all about living our best life and finding our zone of brilliance and then removing the resistance so that we can go all in .

I say random , crazy shit , which is why I called this podcast the way that I did , and I really hate long drawn out intros , so let's fucking go In yesterday's episode . If you haven't listened to it yet , go back . It was a really good one . I talked about the period of time just prior to you going to sleep .

That is so , so good for reprogramming your subconscious mind , that period of time where you can do the things like gratitude affirmations , like visualizations , so that throughout the night , when you're sleeping , your subconscious mind is like reformulating , reorganizing , and really you're retraining your subconscious mind for good , so that you can achieve the goal that

you've set for yourself . Now , I ended that podcast asking are you willing to do it , though ? Are you willing to do the thing that you know you need to do in order to change your fucking life ? Now , when I asked you that question , I then abruptly ended the episode , but when I asked you that question , what did you think ?

Did you sit here and did you think , yes , sandra , I am totally interested , I am going to do the work , did you ? Did you jump on that ?

Did you think , yes , I'm going to go to bed right now because in the next five minutes , this is the most important time , and I'm going to write out some affirmations and then read them and go to sleep and I'm going to reprogram my thoughts . If you did , and I'm going to reprogram my thoughts If you did , hell , yes , good for you .

I'm like just pissing my pants , excited for you right now . Or did you think , oh , my God , good idea , I'm going to do that tomorrow . If so , also great . Did you think , oh , that seems like a lot of work , I'll do that one day . I'll do that when I'm not so tired . I'll do that when I'm not watching Netflix .

I'll do that when you know , uh , all of my conditions are perfect . If that is you , congratulations . You're the majority of the people . That's why I asked that question Are you willing to do it ? Because the majority of the people are like , yeah , I will one day . Sandra , you are normal .

The majority of people don't hit their goals and that's why the majority of the people will sit in resistance . Now let's just go back . I've said this on the podcast a ton of times and I could probably say it every single day , because I think it's worth repeating .

When I was working with my coach , jenna Kingsford , she said if you have a big dream , it's because you have the capacity to achieve it , and it is something that I never , ever have forgotten . And I started thinking about this . I one of the big , huge dreams that I've had , is to make $100,000 in a month .

That seems wild , right , it seems crazy cool , but I can't stop fucking thinking about it . It's crazy cool , but I can't stop fucking thinking about it .

I was getting my human design read and I was saying you know , she asked me what my like , what was holding me back from leaving my government job , and I said well , I'm making a hundred thousand dollars plus a year right now , and so I don't know that I can do that in my business .

And her response was but in a world of unlimited potentiality , you can make $100,000 in a month .

Navigating Resistance to Achieve Goals

Now here's what's great about this . That is her exact words . I will never forget them . That is the exact statement . I can hear her saying it still , and it has been years . So I know that dream is meant for me . I could hear it louder when she said it and it is like source energy spoke through her , god spoke through her , the universe spoke through her .

This is where you're going , sandra . I got all excited . Oh my gosh . 100,000 other months . I can do this . I can do this . This is an amazing goal . Oh my gosh , oh my gosh . The dopamine hit , kicked in . I thought what do I need to do ? How do I need to get there ? What can I ? This is my big dream .

I know I can achieve it , because I wouldn't have heard it so loud if I didn't have it . And I've kept thinking about that . A hundred thousand other months , every single month , every single day , every single week . It is my dream . I will not forget it . Here's the thing Just like when you have you're going to , you want to manifest something .

There is a lot of things that you need to do in order to manifest that right . You got to open up to possibility , because that $100,000 a month , that could come in a lot of different ways . So you've got to open up to possibility , but you also have to do the work . Now here's the problem that I see the bigger the goal , the more the resistance . Why ?

Because resistance is your protective mechanism . When you decide you want to achieve a big , huge goal , guess what , coming with that goal , there's a lot of fucking fear . If you didn't have the fear , then you would already have achieved the goal . So there's a lot of fear that comes with that and you've got to work through that fear .

If you don't , you sit in protection . What we need to do is identify what we make that goal mean . So for me . I'm looking at this $100,000 months and I can say shit . And I can say shit . $100,000 a month to me means burnout . Now , does it have to Fuck ? No , it doesn't .

But that's my biggest fear is being so busy that I will burn out and it will affect my health . Why I burnt myself out ? I never took a day off .

I went in with a migraine , to the point where there was some days where I was sitting in my office with all the lights off , rocking in the corner because my headache was so bad , my migraine was so bad and I was just waiting for my my medication to kick in . Why did I go to work like that ?

I mean , really , I had this belief that I had to show up , that I couldn't take a day off . I had this belief that I there were people counting on me and I wasn't allowed to take a day off because I was too behind , I was too busy , I had too much on the go .

I was leading seven teams at one time seven because everyone else was either on sick leave or on some sort of leave . Seven teams , the whole province , and then the director was on leave . And so one of my biggest fears , my biggest protection mechanisms , is if I get too busy , if I make $100,000 in a month , it's gonna be way too busy .

There's no way I'm gonna be able to do it . And I am going to get into this place where I am so busy and so many people are counting on me . I'm never gonna be able to place where I'm so busy and so many people are counting on me . I'm never going to be able to stop . I'm never going to be able to take a break .

You can see why I have resistance , but again , I have the goal of $100,000 a month . So the job is the message from God . The universe source energy is Sandra , you can do this , you are meant to do this and you can do this without the burnout . I mean , let's face it , I run my own business .

I can just turn the fucking tap off if I get burnt out , right , I can just not take any more clients . I can create a wait list , it'll all work out , but that resistance is sticky . So what we need to do is we need to reprogram that . We need to decide what is my way through this resistance , because it's going to come up .

It does every single time , and that's what I love to do . That's what I love to do with my clients . They set a big goal , a big dream for themselves . They decide what they're wanting to do and then they eat a sandwich . The sandwich eaters they're wanting to do , and then they eat a sandwich . The sandwich eaters they're my people .

The sandwich eaters are the ones that I love to work with , and I don't care if it is like bologna with moldy bread or if it is like a designer sandwich , paniniini , beautiful with like artisanal bread and fancy cheeses and all of the things . It doesn't matter . A sandwich is a sandwich . It is avoidance , it is resistance .

It is you deciding to listen to your fears instead of your dream , instead of your goal . So what do we need to do ? What I love to do is , well , first off , figure out what is the source of your resistance .

We do a lot of work in my private coaching on identifying where the resistance is , identifying the limiting beliefs and then reprogramming them into empowering beliefs . Like that is a daily thing .

It's a daily thing that we work on because they're going to come up there your protection , and especially when you're not doing the reprogramming at night , I mean we've got to work on these limiting beliefs in your subconscious mind , right ? Because your subconscious mind is controlling 80 to 90% of your fucking actions . So you want to take action .

You're going to need to reprogram what you make those things mean , what you make those goals mean . You got to reprogram it . So that's one of the things that I love to do . The other thing that I love to do is to identify the path with least resistance . How can you take action every single day with the least amount of resistance ? What is your path ?

I love the idea of doing the hard work , but why do we need to all the time , right ? Sometimes the hard work is just taking fucking action and doing the thing that we love to do . And doesn't that seem fucked up ? If we love to do it , shouldn't we just do it more ?

Yeah , but we're in so much resistance that we just sit with our feet up and eat the sandwich While we think , geez , I really should be doing this . Why am I avoiding the things that I love to do ? Why am I avoiding the things that make me feel better ? Why am I avoiding taking action ? Because you're sitting in resistance .

You're sitting in the protection , because doing the thing that gets you closer to your goal . That gets you closer to your goal means letting go of the protective armor . It means letting go of the stories that you tell yourself . But that's the fucking work .

Overcoming Resistance to Achieve Goals

If you are sitting in resistance right now , if you have this big , huge dream and you are not getting there , if you have a goal that you want to achieve and you are spending way more time eating sandwiches than you are doing anything else , get into my private coaching . We will work through all of this negative bullshit that you have going on in your brain . You are meant to achieve every goal that you can't stop thinking about . You are worth it to do the work . Thank you so much for listening .
