We're on a mission from God from darkness to light. And from Wrong To Strong. Hello, my name is Klavs.
Welcome to the Wrong To Strong. Two minute devotional. I've been doing jail ministry for over a year now. And yesterday when I was in the jail, I was doing this teaching on Matthew 21 and I was sharing these thoughts with the guys. The passage I want to talk to you about today is, uh, it comes from Matthew 21, starting from verse 28. And it says this, uh, tell me, what do you think about this? There was a man who had two sons.
He went to the first son and said, son, go and work today in the vineyard. The son answered, I will not go, but later he decided he should go, and he went. Then the father went to the other son and said, Son, go and work today in the vineyard. He answered, Yes, I will go, but he did not go. Which of these two sons obeyed his father? Have you noticed how Jesus always has a way of looking into people's hearts? And expose them. He usually does this with parables, especially towards the Pharisees.
And now, in this text, we see how Jesus uses this parable to make people see a situation from a different perspective. And in this parable, Jesus is revealing the hearts of the Pharisees. He's revealing their hypocrisy and using these two sons as an example. There is one father and two sons. The invitation to obey goes forward to both of the sons, but only one obeys. The other one says that he's gonna obey, but never does.
This text reveals that God, is more concerned what we do, rather what we just say. Jesus wants a real relationship with us. we can say that we want to obey him all we want, but if we don't obey him, then it all is in vain. God wants a real relationship with us. He does not want hypocritical people who say one thing and do another. James 1 22 says, but be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
So we can live a lifestyle where we say one thing and deceive ourselves where we think we're also obeying that thing, but we're actually not following God's commandments. So today I want to encourage you, if you feel convicted, if you feel like the second son who's saying one thing and doing another, Repent. Repent and turn back to Jesus. Turn 180 degrees around and walk the right direction. I'm Klavs and I'm wrong to strong.
