Omar

Hello everyone and welcome to another episode of wrong to Strong Chicago. My name's Omar Calvio. Uh, and and today you guys are, are in for a special treat. We have the one and only, uh, founder Wrong the strong, the man, the myth, the legend, JC Almanza himself. Man. Thank you for joining us out here today, brother.

JC

Man, that's an introduction, right,

Omar

man. Hey, hey, you, you sent me 20 bucks and that's the best I could do for 20 man.

JC

Man, just blessed to be out here and, um, just excited to tell everyone what's, what's going on, what's going on with Wrong to Strong. Amen.

Omar

Amen, brother. Yeah, I'm sure like that, that's one thing that, that a lot of people have been asking. I know I've been seeing like, on your videos, you know, on your channel, people like, man, where's JC at? Where's he gone? so to those that haven't seen you, seen your videos in a while, man, you, you, you wanna share? Like what, what have you been up to, like for these last, I don't know how many months it's been, maybe three, four months that you haven't been on

JC

there? I haven't recorded a YouTube video, I wanna say in five months now. Wow. Yeah. Yeah. I've been on, I've been on a spiritual journey, man. I've been, uh, I've been walking, uh, with Jesus and, and, uh, it entails a, a lot of learning. A lot of like, you know, bashing your finger on the door, burning your hand, stepping on rocks with no shoes.

It is like, uh, I always, I always remember, you know, uh, as a kid going to Mexico and, uh, all the kids would play soccer without their shoes on, right. And they would be playing like nothing. Like, ah, kicking the ball and running. And one summer I got there and they always made fun of me. You know, the American, the Chicano, whatever. uh, so I took my shoes off and I started running. My feet weren't used to those rocks. I had to run back 'cause my feet were bleeding from the rocks.

You know what I mean? And, um, that's the way that I, I looked at, I look at my life now before Jesus, like, you know, uh, I wasn't able to play with no shoes. And now, now I'm able to play with shoes because I, I, I've been through, I. Do some trials to, you know, school learning some falls and, and, um, it's just been a learning process, bro. It's, it is been, it's been the best school I've ever

Omar

been in. Gotcha, man. So, you know what, for, for those, I know you mentioned you've been on the spiritual journey with Jesus. Uh, for those that don't know, maybe what took place, can you give us like the two to three minute version of how your, your journey started, I guess? 'cause I know it's a long story, we could be here, uh, you know, talking for a while, but what's like the two to three minute version of what got you following Jesus? You know, to this

JC

point, I mean, if, if people know a little bit about my story and, and if they don't, man, um, I, I was full of hate. I was full of hate from the day, you know, from the age of four. All the way up into my adult years and, getting into gangs and, and watching more murders and, and more violence and more, it just made me meaner and meaner and meaner and more disconnected to the point where, you know, um, I really asked myself, you know, is there anything good out there?

Is there even like a god out there? You know? And, um, I was just full of so much pain, man. So much pain hurt from me hurting myself, uh, other people hurting me. Um, the world hurt, hurting me, uh, uh, and there was so much scar tissue on my heart that it, it was solid. It was just stone. And, um, you know, little, little by little, uh, you know, God's always been working in my life.

You know, I, I go back now and I, and I think of so many things that, like I was telling my wife, uh, I was in segregation for a year. I read a book that was from the Bible, but I didn't know at the time. It was from the Bible and I read it, and it was at the time where I needed it because I was about to like lose my mind. I was there already six months and I was starting to talk to myself in the mirror. You know, I was, uh, having full blown conversations with myself.

Um, and it happened to be the only book on the, on the librarian's shelf, you know, on the cart. And, uh, me reading it, uh, the guy sleeping on the rock, watching the angels come down, like gave me such a peace.. But I didn't know it was a Bible book until now that, you know, I'm, I'm on this journey. But to, to see him, to look back now and see how many times he stepped in to say, Hey, I. I'm here, but we're so busy. We're so busy with the world, we're so busy with our, our pain.

We're so busy with everything that we're trying to carry ourselves that we don't realize that he's trying to carry it for us. Like he's trying to be there for us. He's trying to, put that stop sign before you, you blow it, you know, before you go through it and get into an accident. Um, it's been, it's been a walk, man. It's been a walk. And, um, you know, John came into my life as my teacher and now disciples me.

Then my wife came into my life and, and she was, you know, a believer and praying for me. And, I feel that at that moment, you know, God's never late. He's always on time. It's always his plan. And, and at that moment, I, I believe that I had so many people pre on me, um, so many people on top of me just. That he was working. And, I feel like I had a lot of bad stuff in me, man.

A lot of, a lot of demons, a lot of just, you know, from the porn, from the drugs, from the molestation, the, the rape, like everything, man, the, the murders, just everything that was inside of me, um, completely left that day when I got on my knees and, and just begged for forgiveness and just, you know, uh, for the first time in my life I was just, I was just ready to, to turn myself in, you know what I mean? Like, I, I didn't wanna go on the run no more.

Like I was ready to turn myself in and just let, let Jesus arrest me. Like, you know what I mean? Like, just, I was just ready man. And, um, like I tell most people, you know, I, I can't explain what happened to me that day because it was something that I've never felt in my life. and I don't wanna try to explain it. I just know that Jesus is real and like, he, he took 40 something years of pain, just complete darkness outta my heart in a matter of seconds.

And it was, it was only because I just, I got on my knees and, and I, for that second, I believed, and he showed me, yeah, he showed me, like, it says in scripture that little mustard seed of faith, like it moves mountains. And it's true.

You know, people just, they hear that and, and they, they automatically think the mountain itself and they don't understand that this is the mountain, all that pain, everything that you're carrying inside, that's how you have to look when scripture speaks to you, man. You know? And he took all that away and. I mean, I, I haven't been the same. Have I messed up? Have I been perfect? I am far from perfect, right? Far from perfect.

But he is teaching me and I'm learning and, and the biggest thing that I'm grateful for now is that I have a conscience. That I have guilt that I have, you know, I have all these emotions now, and I'm learning to tell the difference between them now because at the beginning of my walk, I would mistake, you know, love with being mad and mad with being loved. And, and, I couldn't tell a difference because that's how I lived my whole life.

Yeah. So, you know, it's, it's been, um, it's been a lot of crying, bro. It's been a lot of making up, it's been a lot of trials, you know, separating from my wife and then us, you know, rekindling back and, and putting God first, because that's, that's what people don't realize is that when you do things right, The, the enemy comes after you. Oh yeah. He comes with, with like roaring lion. Like he comes and, you know, people think it's a joke and, and it's not.

'cause as soon as we got married and we did everything by the book, everything started falling apart. And we did the worst thing that we could have done. We, we started focusing on ourselves and how we were gonna fix it instead of putting God first. Yeah. You know, and, I, I think that's the biggest part that people don't realize is that, you know, that's what, makes your, your walk.

What, what it is your own walk is that you're gonna have your own trials, your own tribulations, your own trips, your own speed bumps, your own stop signs. It's, it's your own walk with him. it's, it is gonna be different. So, yeah, bro, it's, it's been, uh, I wouldn't change it for the world though.

Omar

Amen. Amen. No, you, you're right. Uh, well, once you start seeking God and putting him first man, the enemy comes man. And and like I tell people because it is not just about you, you know, like God working in your life, but especially you, you have a lot of, uh, influence through social media, through the work. Uh, the training that you do with a lot of people and the influence that you have, that's why the enemy tries to stop that. 'cause it's not like, oh, God's working in J C's life.

Nah, if God, God works in j C's life and he's impacting all these other people, that he's gonna come at you even harder. So, yeah, definitely, man. It's not a joke following Jesus. It's not for the faint of heart. You know, a lot of times we think, oh man, I'm sure you, I'm sure you could share a lot of blessings. Like you mentioned the joy that comes, you know, that he brought into your heart. But here, here comes the them trials, man.

For those that are listening to you and, and, and you say, man, put God first. What, what are some of those practical ways that you've been putting Him first? That they could start putting God first in their life as well.

JC

I mean, first thing that I do, as soon as I get up in the morning, man, I, I grab my Bible and my, my books, my devotions, and I, I spent time with him. I talked to him, you know, obviously I confessed whatever I felt I did wrong today, you know, before, or. That I probably already did, but I'm doing it again, you know, uh, because, I feel, they say the, the more you become a Christian, the more you feel like a sinner.

And it's true because, uh, you start to feel more guilty about little stuff, you know, that you, you know, you should have done better. And it's not like, it's not a guilt trip. It, I call it training, you know, it's just like the gym. You're not, you're not gonna get it, uh, a lift perfect. Until you keep doing it and doing it right. You know?

And, I, I, I keep saying it, and I, I talk to him and, and I ask him more than anything to help me in what I fall short in because I can't do it on my own. You know? I need the Holy Spirit. I need, I need him in my life to be able to do it. And I've learned to pretty much, you know, be obedient. It's, uh, it's one of the biggest things. And, and, you know, my, my biggest fight has been my anger. My anger and, and my, uh, multiple personalities. My wife doesn't know if she's gonna get Pancho.

Jorge, Pedro or Jose..,

Omar

they're, so you're saying they're, they're not all saved. Only, only only one of them. Only, only Jose. Only one of them knows Jesus. Huh?

JC

Nah, sorry, I'm getting over a cold. Okay. Um, I had a cold for like three days. Oh, no way. As soon as I got back from, uh, Ohio. Okay. The kids got me sick. Alright. Alright.

Omar

Oh, you, you know what, that's, that's gonna be a good, uh, transition. I, I know you mentioned five months away from, uh, YouTube from making videos. I know you've been doing the personal training in person and online. Uh, you mentioned Ohio. You, you wanna share with the people maybe what led you there? um, how did that planning look? Who reached out to you? Where did they want you to go? What did they want you to do? Maybe if you could share

JC

that story so, uh, the Ohio thing, it, it was, uh, it was funny because I met this guy right when I got saved, uh, I wanna say about a year ago. And, um, I. He came here to see Bill, Bill Faye and Bill's, like, you need to talk to jc. So we met up and we talked and, and I just figured it was just another guy, another pastor I had met. And, you know, never, I didn't hear from him for a while.

he calls me, uh, a month prior to me going to Ohio, and he tells me, Hey, are you interested in coming to a camp with, uh, spending a week with, uh, a hundred and and 150 kids? He said, at first. And, um, I was like, uh, I don't know. You know, I'm, let me think about it. 'cause, uh, I'm busy. I wasn't busy. I was just afraid. A, a

Omar

a a afraid

JC

of what? Afraid of seeing myself in that camp. Gotcha. So, uh, I, I, I prayed about it and, and, uh, I was gonna tell him no, to tell you the truth. Um, I was really scared. I was really, really scared. And, uh, Beth kept on telling me, you know, you know, go, you're supposed to go. And, uh, then he calls me and he's like, Hey, I really need you, man. The pastor that was supposed to come has got sick. He had some heart problems. I need you. And I was like, I was like, eh. I was like, all right.

So, so then I say yes, but I was like, Hey, so, um, I'm not a pastor, or like a biblical scholar or, or nothing like that. And he started laughing and he was like, jc, we just, we just want, we just want you, man, the real deal. Like, we just want you to be transparent how you are about your faith. I was like, all right. I was like, he did tell me though I had to be PG, PG, not PG 13. Got you. I was like, when he told me that, I got a little bit more nervous because I was like, I don't know.

No PG, make my story PG. Right, right.

Omar

P pg 13 is is as nice as you get. Right.

JC

It's the close as I can get. Right, right, right. And, but you know, it, it ended up being one of the most beautiful experiences of my life and, and that's just how God works. When, when one person is obedient, it takes the next person to be obedient also. And then it just, it causes a, a chain of, effects, man. And then people don't realize that. You being obedient can bless hundreds, yes. Hundreds, sometimes even thousands of people.

And I came this close to not, not being obedient, you know, 'cause I was scared. And, you know, God doesn't give us a, a spirit of, of fear. But at the same time, I was telling him, I was like, you gotta have a sense of humor because you're throwing me in the pit with all these biblical scholar dudes. And I barely know how to speak English. I just, I'm a baby in my walk. Yeah, yeah. I'm, I'm like strong in other ways, you know? I won't, I'm hardheaded. I won't give up.

I'll keep reading, I'll keep studying. I can't promise you that I'm gonna memorize stuff, but I'll promise you this, that I'll, I'll mimic Jesus as much as I can. And that makes me, that makes me feel the way that I feel

Omar

every day. Amen. Amen. Oh, that, that's awesome, brother. That, that heart, that obedience and, just trying to be like him. You know? Like in our own strength, we really can't do much. I just came from church a little while ago and they were talking, uh, he, the pastor was saying, man, don't, don't look at yourself. You know, a lot of times that's what stops us. We look at ourselves like, my schooling's not that good. I'm not a, a bible scholar, a theologian, I'm not a pastor.

But man, God desires to use people like you, people like us, so that when they see you speaking, they know, man, I, I know jc, you know, and I, and then what they are gonna see is Jesus in you, man, through his spirit. And that's why I think the Bible says that when we are weak, yet we are strong in him. You so God empowers you, gives you, gives you the words to speak so, so tell us about this experience, man.

So, so you said yes to going, you went, maybe tell us a story or two that, oh, that'll paint a picture of, uh, what was your experience like there? You know,

JC

I got to meet some of the coolest kids I've ever met in my life. Um, I met a couple JC's and, uh, you know, at, at the end of the whole thing that was, um, that was God throwing me my, my welcome home party, like, as to be a kid. Like, um, that was all for me. Yeah, the kids were blessed. Um, the pastors got to see me share my, my, my transformation, you know.

Um, but it was, uh, it was, uh, you know, it was almost like I was giving my childhood back and I was able to, uh, enjoy it for those, those four days. And, um, Man, it really like, it really changed me. 'cause I know I came back and, uh, I was like, that's it. You know, I'm, I'm done with the gym. I know what my purpose is. Now I know what my heart is calling me to do, and I know that I'm, I'm right where God wants me to be.

And, um, here I thought that, you know, I needed to go to school or I needed to like, learn more and, you know, um, I think my heart is what he's, yes. You know, it's what it shining, I guess, you know. And it's funny because some of the pastors weren't, they weren't okay with me being there. I guess some of them are bumping heads and saying that, you know, it, it, it wasn't a good idea. You know, little rough around the edges. Yeah. Uh, uh, not, uh, does, don't know too much.

You know, it's, and um, I gotta give it, I gotta give it to the main uh, dude. Uh, he got up there and apologized in front of everybody and it, it really like, it just, it made me, it made me cry because nobody's ever apologized to me like that for treating me or, or thinking of me, you know, a certain way. And, it, it was just everybody told me to not wait for school. That I'm, that I'm, that God's using me now and yeah. To keep doing what I'm doing and to never be embarrassed.

And it's funny because I didn't tell none of them that, you know, and, and they all kept telling me, oh, I, I, I was calling Beth every time because one would tell me, and, and I would be like, that's confirmation. Another one told me, I was like, that's confirmation. Another one told me. And I came back with the whole mentality. I was like, that's it. I'm done with the gym. I'm not, not gonna not be obedient. I and I blessed who has it coming because of me not being obedient.

Yeah. So I felt that that's it. That was time for me to leave the gym. And, um, I'm making my, my exit right now so I can go to school full time,

Omar

man. All right. Now go going to school. Like for, uh, what, what are you gonna going school for? I'm gonna be one of

JC

our gods and Jesus warriors. I'm going to school to be a general Amen.

Omar

I going to seminary school. There you go. Hey, close enough, man. Man, all that's awesome, man. You, you see already like like he's already using you, as your zero obedient, right? Like you mentioned, uh, that pastor coming to you and, and saying that. But, I think we could, we could all acknowledge that we could judge a book by its cover.

You know, I, I'm, I'm there myself, you know, even the Bible when they were looking for the, the, the King of Israel, I believe the, when the prophet was speaking, I believe it was Sammy, god looks at the heart, but man looks at the outward appearance, you know? And a lot of times that you mentioned, they look at, you all tattooed it up. Oh, you know, swole you know, oh man could tell this guy's been in, in the joint.

But when you get up there and you speak and then you share your heart, they're like, oh man. Like they, they see, a soldier, uh, a disciple of his, you know, like being obedient to the calling he has in your life. So, you know, lemme ask you this, I know you mentioned that that camp was for you. What, what were some of those activities? Because I know, I know there was a few videos out there, you jumping around, running around with the kids.

So how, how do you, in a sense get your, your childhood back during those, uh, four days? Crying, man. It just, just, just, just tell the, the, the story as you turn around, man.

JC

Oh man. You know, we went fishing. Um, we were in the pool. Uh, there was an obstacle course. We went hiking, uh, basketball. Uh, I mean, we, we did it all. I mean, we played, uh, uh, well you pull the rope. Yeah. Yeah. What was that?

Omar

Uh, uh, tug of war. Tug of war. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

JC

Tug of war. That one I had the most fun with because I was pulling all the kids by myself. Oh, no way. Oh, yeah. So, yeah. So that got me like a lot of respect with all of 'em. Okay, nice. Oh, and, uh, I just, I just, you know, it's, it's, if you look at all the pictures Yeah. I blend in with the kids, man. My smile is as big as theirs. Yep. And that's what I was telling, like my pastor, I was like, I, I felt so happy. I felt so like a, a part of me was like healing and, um, yeah.

I mean, it, it's, I. It's true what they say that once, once, you, you start this walk you know, I'm gonna explain it the easiest way. Yeah, I can. But once you start this walk with Jesus, like he starts to fix things in yourself and you like that, you try to fix your whole life with not being able to, like me, I tried for years to put my kids back in my life and it never happened.

And as soon as I, I started my walk, all my kids slowly started coming into my life and, and, and slowly relationships that I had, I had messed up and, and just, and even ones that I didn't mess up, but that I have to show them love and, and compassion and, and all that stuff. You know, I, I made the initiative too, but people don't realize that that's, that's how we're supposed to be because. That's how Jesus would've been. Yeah. And that's what he would've done.

And and it's all for, for, it's all for him. But at the end of the day, you're the one that feels the blessing because the joy and, just the, the way you feel in your heart, man. It's, to me, I can't explain it, bro, because I never had it. Yeah. That's why I, I'm, I'm so grateful about it. Like, I, I cry and I, I sit there and I look at my, my life and, and wow. How dark it was and like how much light it is now. Amen. I I you couldn't pay me $2 million to go back. Yes.

Omar

Yeah, definitely, man. It's something that you can put a price on or like you mentioned, we, we could try to describe it in, in our own, what we know, like in our own terms. But man, the joy I, I'll say the peace man. That peace that comes with just knowing God and that you're known by him. Like, man, I could rest my head and at night and have no worries, man. not like before, you know? Yeah.

JC

Yeah. So, the biggest, uh, thing that he's taught me is, is, you know, love. And, um, it's been the biggest, uh, lesson that I've learned with my wife. you know, loving her, trusting her, and really just, you know, the trust was the biggest thing because I didn't, I didn't trust nobody because of everything that had happened to me.

And everything that kept happening to me because of, of the life that I was living, you know, on the streets and, and just incomplete sin, darkness, whatever you wanna call it, whatever these young bucks wanna call it nowadays, it's all bad. Yeah. You know, and, uh, you, you're dead. You're dead. you're, you're going to hell, however you wanna look at it. Like, I know those are harsh words, but it is what it is.

And now to know where I'm going and what I'm gonna experience after this, it's the reason why I get up every day and I live for him. Uh, by telling people about him and, and showing them what he's doing in my life. And I, I wanna be completely transparent with everybody because, I was listening to a sermon today that Bill sent me, and I don't wanna be that hypocrite. I don't wanna be the one that shows up. And God says, guess what? You're going straight to hell. It's like, what?

No, I don't wanna be that person. I don't, it's like, are you too busy doing for God? Or are you spending time with God? Which one is it? You know? And, and I think sometimes we, we fail in that, in that area. And, and that's where you got all these biblical scholar people that are just, they know so much, they do so much at the church, but are you really, is your heart really with God? Yeah. Like, are you really doing what, what, how are you doing?

Like, that's what you have to ask yourself, you know? And I. Like I told you the other day that that, that whole thing that I got in the morning, you know, what, what makes, what makes a, a good Christian, and, and this is coming from somebody man, that I'm a baby bro. I'm coming on two years. Yeah, I'm coming in two years. But man, when I sit there and I talk to him and I cry, man, you know, I feel like a little kid every time I talk to him. I have, um, I have a little kid Bible.

I have a kid's Bible. I love my Bible.

Omar

What about drawings For pictures?

JC

Pictures? You know, and, when I first started, I, I would tell Bethany, I'm so embarrassed to take this one with me because, you know, people are gonna see it. Right. And I would, I would pull out my big boy Bible. Yeah. Yeah. You know, as soon as I pull out my big boy Bible, I, I would be lost. 'cause I had, I'm not, I'm not that person, but Right. What God, and, and, and this whole walk has taught me is that it's, it's okay, man. It's, he wants me just the way that I am.

Yep. He made me just the way that I am. And, and he loves me like this. Amen. And at the end of the day, that's what matters, bro. No.

Omar

You know what? You, you bring up, uh, something good man. You know what, um, I was going to church some years back, and there was a brother there that I would tell him, Hey man, let's, let's do a Bible study and and, uh, and he would always, oh yeah. Later, later. And, um, like later on, I found out, not, not, not through him, but through a family member that, that he couldn't even read. So that that's the reason that he would like be Oh, like, like later, later, you know? And, it's, it's good.

'cause a lot of times, like people will use that like, oh man, you got a little kid Bible, but at least you're understanding the word of God. And a lot of times God wants to speak to us, like as simple as that man. A lot of times it could get, uh, complicated. So, uh, there was another brother too that, uh, he uses, uh, I think it's called the.

International Children's Bible, it's the I c B, and he said, he reads that 'cause it makes it easier, uh, for him to grasp, uh, some of the biblical principles. That might be a little harder, you know, especially if you're reading ain't up to a certain level because based, you know, if you're growing up, lack of education, you know, there's a lot of men that unfortunately, man, they were in the streets eight, nine years old, and school was out of there and they might be there.

Yeah. So, so it's, I'm I'm glad that you shared that, man. You, you, you want to, and that's the

JC

thing, bro. Yeah, that's the thing. You know how they say that you stay that age because you don't develop, uh, uh, emotionally, you don't develop life skills, all that stuff. So, believe it or not, a lot of these dudes that are coming out to joint from doing 10, 20, 15 years, they're really 16 years old. They're really 15 years old. Some of 'em are even 13, 12. But that's the beauty of, of all this man, that if you turn your life over and you start, you are like a little kid.

You, it's like you start to live again for the first time ever. And, and you start to understand what love is because you really truly never had it. So that's what I was telling Bill, you know, um, I was telling Bill, I, I need to be able to deliver this good news to my people, my gentiles, that have a lack of education that really didn't grow up. And, and just, we went through trauma, trauma events, you know, well, we went through a lot.

So like, there, there's, there's, you know, God uses certain people for certain, you know, callings. Yes. And, and I believe that, that's why Wrong to Strong is, is there's fruit. Yeah. There it's bearing fruit. Yeah. Uh, you know, um, we're doing, um, a lot and a little bit of time that, that we've, we've, we started, and, that's not just to say it, it, it, it's true the podcast going into the prisons.

Uh, we, we have a strong team of, uh, strong Christian men that are doers, um, doers and, and walkers. You know what I mean? Because we have our team of prayers, prayer, we have our prayer team, but we, we have our, our, our guys that are going in too, you know? So, um, I, uh, I just wanna give a shout out to my whole team, man.

Uh, you guys, e everybody, Dean, Ernie, I mean, everybody that's doing their part is, is, is, you know, part of this whole wrong to strong, you know, uh, ministry movement and, and, and it's God that's. Just making everything happen, man. He's opening up so many doors. It's, it's been crazy.

Omar

Amen. Amen. Yeah. You mentioned God, uh, there's a saying I like, it's a Soli deo Gloria, man, that's, uh, to God alone be the glory. You know? It's, it's, it's just a, a blessing to be able to, to almost team up, you know, that team up to do his work, you know? 'cause eventually it's doing the work through us, you know,

JC

you know, they, they were telling me the other day, someone was asking me, why did you have to create wrong and strong to be able to do what you're doing? And, you know, and it's people that think of this world. They, they, they, they, they wanna justify, you know, everything. And, and I, I, I told God has a perfect plan of how things are gonna fall in. If I was doing it because of me, guess what?

Those things wouldn't be happening, you know, and, I don't, I don't really sit there and try to explain things to people because I mean, you know how it is. You, you really can't. Make people believe. Oh, right. That's why I think the biggest, the biggest testament, the biggest transformation is the walk. When people see you, treat them, talk to them, uh, all that stuff, you know, they, they see it. Yeah. And that's, that's, it's, it's, it's messed up into the world we live in. Oh, yeah.

Yeah. People wanna see the belief. Oh, right. So, you know, let's show them. Yeah.

Omar

De definitely man, uh, uh, there's a, a quote but it says, uh, preach the gospel wherever you go, and whenever necessary use words, meaning that your life alone should be preaching God or pointing people to Christ. uh, I think the Apostle Paul said, uh, um, follow me as I follow him. So, yeah. But people, like you mentioned the word earlier fruit. People wanna see the evidence of God working in your life. And unfortunately that's the way it is, you know?

Anybody could say, oh, I'm following God, but. Um, I think it was Charles Spurgeon. They asked him about somebody that was a member of his church and he said, Hey man, uh, I heard this guy's a good Christian. He was like, oh, you know what? I don't know yet. Let, let, I haven't talked to his wife yet. Yeah. That was his as, 'cause it starts in the home, you know, fruit gotta be in the home. And then where was we go out, whether it be in the workplace, church

JC

ministry, wherever, you know. Yep. And, and, you know, and, and people, people need to understand too that, you could, you could share the, the news with, even if you're a mechanic, uh, you know, if you cut hair, if you're spending time with people, there's no reason why you shouldn't be sharing your faith. Yeah. You know, there's no reason why you shouldn't be telling people about Jesus and what he's doing in your life. You know, and, and there there's, I believe, and I've seen.

That there's some people that I, I guess, you know, they experience the whole, the whole salvation and, and everything, but then they kind of like sit down and put that caution tape around themselves and like, they're almost scared to move because like, if I do something wrong, you know, I might lose my salvation. Or if I, if I fail, or if I don't learn, or if I, and they just sit there and then that's the worst thing you could do because then, you know, you're really not learning it.

It's, it's like the gym, you, there has to be failure to be growth. Yeah. And, and, and, and if you don't know what failure is and how do you know you're growing? Yeah. How, how are you really putting your, yourself to the test? You know? And I don't know man, in this little time that I've, I've been on this walk, it's made me more hungry. Mm-hmm. More hungry to learn more. Um, Who Timothy was, what Paul was doing with him.

It just made me more hungry to learn more because, um, I'm intrigued with the stories. I'm intrigued with how bold these guys were because I mean, we got it easy nowadays. They ain't cutting our heads off. They ain't putting us on crosses. Right. They, they ain't stoning us to death. You know, we have it easy. I tell people, man, back then, man, you know, it was hardcore to be a Christian. Yeah. You know, and it, I don't understand the, the difference.

Like, we should still be living the same, even though we're not in those times no more. You know what I mean? We should still take it that serious.

Omar

Yeah. You know what, uh, you bring up something good about, the, the, uh, disciples, the disciples that Jesus chose. Right? Because I grew up in a, in a Catholic, uh, church. Right. A tradition. And I would go to St. Paul Church right there, 22nd and Hoyne, and you go to church and they have the mural, in the church, right? And you see like all the, the disciples with like a halo behind their head. And it's almost like they were, uh, you would look at 'em like they were super human.

Like man, like they had to be really holy. And I, I, I've been reading a book by a John, um, MacArthur, it's called 12 Ordinary Men, uh, where he goes like one by one through all through all of them. And you see how flawed, sinful, how they fell short and Jesus, God was still able to use 'em to accomplish this work.

So a lot of times we look at, I, I can't compare myself to Paul, to Peter to like all, all these guys you mentioned, but when you studied 'em based on the Bible, like, man, they were flawed. They were human just like, like me and you. And what, what made 'em great is that, obedience to God, man, They decided to obey. They, they decided to follow even unto death. Like you mentioned, a lot of 'em ended up in a, in a bad death. You know what I'm saying?

But, uh, yeah, ordinary man that God used then to, to basically start the church right throughout the world, through these 12 men. Yeah. It, it's scattered. And here we are now, still, still following the same model, uh, sinful, uh, men with traumas, men with, uh, sinful past. And man, God, here, I, I'm, I'm choosing you. The Bible says for, you didn't choose me, but I chose you. And man, that, that's, that's what God desires to do.

So to those that are watching this man, don't, don't feel that you're too far off from God. Like, man, if you only knew what I've done in my past, all the sin, all the crime things that I've done, nah. Jesus' blood is, his sacrifice for sin is, is good enough. You know, he, he don't gotta go on the cross again. So his blood is still saving, still redeeming and transforming lives. Up, up to this

JC

day, man. What the enemy wants them to think. So that way they, they stay away, you know? Um, people don't realize that, you know, He's sneaky, and, he's a king of lies. You know, he's gonna lie to you and, and make you believe that, that you've done too much. Just like he made me believe my whole life that I was, I was a monster, that I was a gangster, that I was all these things. And, uh, I was, I'm far from that, you know?

I have such a huge heart that I love hugging people, and it's, you know, and, and I've learned to let my wife love me the way that, like, I, I don't even know how to explain it, man. Um, I just never experienced nothing like it. And it's all thanks to God and, and what Jesus is teaching me. Uh, That's why I can't stop reading. I can't, I can't stop, uh, just wanting to learn more and, and, and just, you know, it says it in scripture, your mind is renewed every day through that.

Yes. So it's the one thing that I, if I could tell anybody what, what, like, the one thing to do is every day, you know, spend 10 minutes reading and then 10 minutes talking to him. Uh, uh, if you're not used to it, start with little times. Time yourself. You know, I, I challenge a lot of people to, you know, put the clock on and challenge themselves to sit down for 10 minutes without moving. And, uh, you know, it's crazy because a lot of people can't do it. Right.

And to me it is just, it's the world making you think that you're busy and you, you think you're too busy for God. And, and you're never too busy for God, 'cause he's never too busy for you. So like, the same respect should be sown on both, on both ends.

Omar

Amen. You know? Yeah. No, you, you talk about that time alone, that, that that's what they were preaching at church today. Uh, it was, uh, a, a day alone. And the day together like, um, like even Jesus, he had a retreat into the wilderness, spend time with his heavenly Father. And then he came and, and administered, you know, to the people and even the, the apostles or disciples, he told him to do the same, to, to withdraw, to spend time alone.

So it's very important that, that's one thing that I barely like started doing with my wife together. Like she'll, she'll go on YouTube and there's like a, it is called like a Holy Spirit, like instrumental music. So really just like piano or something. So we'll just put that music on and then we'll just pick a, a scripture, like, and we'll read it together and we'll just pause quietly and see what, what God is speaking to us through that particular scripture, you know? Mm-hmm.

And you do, do, do you wanna share. Uh, how, how does God speak to you? Like, how, how do you experience that? I know you, you mentioned talking to God, but can you give us maybe a couple of examples where, man, you know, God speaking to me

JC

in, in this way? I mean, it's, it's, uh, it's, it's truly when, um, if I'm gonna be completely honest, is when I have nothing on my mind. Um, I'm not thinking about work. I'm not running late. Uh, like I sit down and I really like talk to him. 'cause when I really talk to him, oh man, the tears, the boogers come out, everything comes out.

Uh, and it comes from here, like, everything that's being said comes from here and it's just, it's coming out and it's coming in and it's when I truly feel really connected to him, I would, I would wish I, I could tell people that it's every day. But it's not every day. And that's, that's what what people need to understand is that it, it is, it's not something you just do to feel good. You know? It's not something that you get your, your ears tickled and then you're, and you're good again.

Like, no, it's, it's a everyday thing because I believe you have to be ready for when that true message is coming. So, uh, sometimes you know, the frequencies is not that good and, and, and, and, and you really, when it's not that good, you really have to ask yourself, what's going on in my life that it's not that good? What, what am I doing? Or, or, where am I? Who's blessing am I stopping? Or, or what?

Just you really have to ask yourself because like, I, you know, I tell most people this is how he talks to you, and this, this just tells you a bunch of lies and it tells you to remember stuff. But when you really sit there, You talk, you think about him, talk to him. Think just you're focused on him. A hundred percent. That's when the true, true connection happens. Amen. Yeah. But you have to be really honest with yourself.

Yeah. Yeah. I think, I think that's, that's a very hard thing for a lot of people. People.

Omar

Mm, yeah, definitely. Man, we gotta make that time, man, that, that honesty, um, um, we, we were reading a book, me and my wife, and it was talking about sometimes we, we lower our expectation of God, uh, uh, you, you know, like, like, man could fail us, right? Let, let's say if I'm, um, I'm trusting somebody to, to come through for me and they let me down, well, now that brings my trust of that individual down, right? Like, man, I know I can't count on him, rely on him.

And a lot of times in the book it was saying that, that we do that with God. Like, God, we we're seeking him. And then we lower our standard of him. And in the book it'll say, man, we gotta bring our expectation, uh, back. We, we, we can't lower him to human standards, like, we gotta continue to believe that he's able to do the impossible for us, even if we felt he's let us down in the past. I think a lot of times that's what keeps people from him.

You know, they feel, oh man, God's let me down, but why should I seek him or even ask him for anything else?

JC

Yeah. But how many times have you let God down? You know? I, and, and, uh, another thing that I tell people is that, you know, when we pray, it's not a demand sheet. There. We're actually reporting for duty when we're praying. Amen. Like, we're, we're not, it's not a wishlist. It's not, oh, I, I'm on the good list. You know, what, are you gonna bring me God? Like, no, we're, we're putting for duty every day. That's what it is. Amen. And that's what we're here for. So, yeah. No. Hey,

Omar

that's good, man. Hey, we, we, I know I, I need to hear that. I told, uh, yeah. Uh,

JC

bill was telling me earlier, I was talking to Bill earlier 'cause he quizzes me on the videos he sends me. And, uh, he's like, so what are you gonna do for the rest of the week? I was like, I'm gonna spread the word, I'm gonna tell people about Jesus and I'm gonna cut a couple ears off if they don't listen. So that's what I got planned for the week. Ah,

Omar

hey, that's a reference to Peter's, uh, cutting somebody's ear in the Bible, you know? Hey, you just, you're just being, uh, biblical, you know? Hey, man, man. I was gonna ask you, right now you mentioned Bill, that's somebody that sends you a video and then he quizzes you. What, what's the importance of somebody that's seeking God? Like, let's say for a man like myself to have somebody like that in their life?

A mentor or somebody that checks up on you and, and is not just letting you, like, be on your own. Like, here you go. Well, what's the importance of having somebody like that in your life? It's like anything,

JC

like in, in the business world, bro. Like, uh, when you hire a trainer, right? You, you hire a trainer that you wanna look alike, right? You want abs like him, you want muscles like him. And Bill is somebody that, you know, he, uh, he did this for a very long time. He still doing that? Uh, I don't know, I think he's like 90 or, I dunno. He's like, he's up there though. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But, um, true man of God. And, and, I'm, I'm learning from him. Mm-hmm.

Because, uh, uh, he keeps it real with me. And, you know, iron sharpens iron. Yeah. And, um, you need those biblically scholared guys that are your mentors so they could teach you, so they could pull your ears and eventually, you know, the Holy Spirit's gonna do his work. You're gonna have your own style, your own, your own walk. Like I tell everybody, but you still have to be surrounded by. The same men that are doing the same thing as you. Yeah. You know?

Um, and, and that in our, in our walk is, is fellowship, uh, men that are, are following Christ. And, for me I wanna learn. So I'm hungry. So I got a bunch of old dudes that I'm learning from, of VE veterans man, John Cleo. I had, I know you had Cleo on there the other day. Yeah, yeah. Um, I mean, these are true men of God that I'm just, I, I admire and I, I wanna, I wanna be like one day, you know? Amen.

Omar

Amen. Oh yeah, that's good. That, that you surround yourself and we always gotta allow ourselves to be, teachable. we, we, we can't get to a point where, I, I got it together. I've been following God this many years. You mentioned, uh, uh, bill, almost 90, and He's still serving God man in, in, in God's, uh, kingdom and God's army. There's no retirement, man. You know, we might retire from the worldly job or whatever, but man, look at him still serving you, praise God for a man like that Yeah.

Still looking to, yeah, he's pour into others, you know?

Yeah.

JC

They've, they've been a blessing man. And I believe that God's put the right people in my life, the right, the right teachers, the right, the scholar. I mean, he's, he's, he's the one in charge of everything. And, um, I'm just following his lead man. I'm just, I'm just, I'm just waiting Sometime, sometimes I'll move too fast, so I have to slow down, you know? Uh, it's just my nature. Um, when I want something, I, I get really into it. And, and that's something that I've learned.

And sometimes I just retreat back and wait and, and listening to my wife too, you know, because sometimes she sees things that I don't see and, and that's what, uh, I'm learning also that, that I wanna, you know, teach, uh, young, you know, Christian men like myself, uh, that, you know, the wife, the wife sees things too. You know, God speaks to them in a different way. And, and, um, sometimes we fail to realize that they're there for, for reason. They're there for a purpose.

They're our helpers. They're, they're our shield. Like, they're, they're, they do, they play so many roles in, in God's plan with us that, you know, that's why the enemy's not happy when we become one to him. He always wants to make, make two, you know? And, that's another thing that I've been learning also on, on this walk is, you know, I had the whole machista, you know, grew up with the whole, you know, the man runs the house.

You stay in the kitchen, make babies, make me food, uh, That, that whole Mexican machista uh, uh, mentality. But now I've come to realize how, God takes two, makes one, and we're here to serve him and glorify him. You know, that's what we were

Omar

created for, man. That's for sure, man. Like, uh, I, I thank God for my wife and a man. I, that's, that's something that I don't take for granted, you know, God, God knows what, what he's doing when he puts us together, you know? So definitely, I, I feel like they have more like discernment, like spiritually, I, I know my wife, you know, like I could rely on her and, and I, I go to her for counsel, man. 'cause I know God will speak to me through her.

So, definitely man, that union is very important, man. Like, as, as we go forward, like I tell my wife, like, I, I can't go forward thinking I'm gonna go forward, serve God, do ministry on my own. Like if, if she don't have my back, I ain't moving forward. You know? We gotta be exactly in unison. We gotta be, you know, praying together. It is gotta be whatever disagreements it's gotta be, uh, peace, Shalom, man. I always tell her, Shalom in my home, man, which is the, the peace of God, you know?

So, uh, can I ask you this? uh, I know you mentioned, uh, earlier, uh, you're gonna, stop the training, like that's the in-person training, right? Like moving forward. Uh, what's, what's the future look like for you? Uh, what's the future look like for wrong to strong ministries, as as you go forward?

JC

Um, I'm switching from being in person to being online because I really wanna focus on the ministry. Um, we will be going to a couple of prisons, federal prisons in Florida in November. The, uh, Illinois Miranda one was put on hold just because, uh, I wasn't able to put in my paperwork fast enough in time. And, you know, everything happens for a reason. If God wanted me there, he would've had me there. So, uh, it just, that's happening right now.

Me going to school, honestly, I just feel it in my heart. I don't know what he's got planned for me. I don't know. What he, he's getting me ready for. I just know that I need to be ready. This is why I feel in my heart that I need to study. and uh, I'm just letting him lead the way, man. I honestly tell you the truth. it came to my heart to step away from the gym, you know, so, so I'm doing it.

Um, I'm gonna focus on the online part and, and focus on going to these prisons and just spreading the word. Uh, we have a couple of, trips planned. New Mexico, California, Illinois. We might be going to New Jersey. So, um, I don't know, man. It's like, I don't, I don't wanna say nothing because, you know, we make our plans, but he's up there laughing at us. Oh, yeah. Yeah. And I learned my lesson already.

I like, when I try to, when I try to miss my flight to Hawaii, he made sure I got on there one, one way or another. But it, it's, I've learned that, you know, he's the god of everything, man. And, and the warden could say, yes tomorrow, and I could be flying to Moran tomorrow. So, you know, um, it is what it is. Man. Man.

Omar

You know what, you mentioned something. It's, it's a, a proverb, I think, uh, a man makes his plans, but it's the Lord's purpose that prevails. That, that's in the book of Proverbs. Yeah. We could sit here and plan, but ultimately, man, and you know what? That, that's my prayer for, you know, it's good to make plans. I, I, I know you're good at that. You got your schedule every day, every hour. You already assign it to something. Oh, so, so that's good.

But we, we gotta, uh, uh, make room for God to come with his eraser, right? Yep. And change out dubs class. Hey guy. What? Whatever you, your will is, Hey, let, let, let, let

JC

it be, man. Yeah. That's how it be, man. And, and, um, I've learned to be okay with that. You know? Um, the biggest thing that gets me is, is like, I need like, my study time with him in the morning. I need my time with him. And if my books are not like, set up in a, in a certain manner on my table, I'm really O c d. Yeah. I, I, I, I've been like that since I was a kid. And, and, um, you know, I'm really grateful that I didn't have toys when I was a kid.

I'm really grateful that I didn't watch cartoons or none of that stuff because my imagination and how I am with, with the books and, and how I read really takes me to a whole different like level when I'm, when I'm studying.

Omar

It makes it easier like to, to focus on them or like, Just you having want me to start? No,

JC

just, I have an imagination. So I'm able to, I'm able to live the story that God is telling me. So that's why I was telling you earlier, at the end of the day, you know, it's God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. There are my three, my three professors. Yes. They're teaching me and they're teaching me through, through stories that as a kid I could connect with e even though I'm this grown man and I live my walk like a kid, because that's how joyful I am of finding

Omar

him. Amen. Amen brother. Yeah. That, that, that joy is evident, you know, every time I talk to you, you know, man, the joy of the Lord's in there. And I'm glad you were able to have that experience at that camp, man. So, um, I, I know you mentioned, uh, uh, doing that it brought a joy. Do you see yourself, like speaking to youth? I, I know you mentioned like, uh, as far as like going into the prisons and things like that, what about like speaking to youth?

Like, like you did, I believe they were like from 10 to 12 years old. Uh, do you see like a part of your ministry going in, in that direction

JC

as well? Yeah. Yeah, that's, uh, that's gonna be the, the main, uh, bread and butter for, for me, it's gonna be the kids and the, and the felons. but the kids, you know, the kids are gonna be first. uh, there was a famous basketball player there at the camp, um, Lawrence, I don't wanna say his name wrong, right. Lawrence Thunder Burke. Right.

He gave me a bunch of books and, you know, it was really cool to see somebody that, you know, had, um, had all that money, had all that fame and everything, but he's been a man of God for a very long time. And just to see him with his, with his same wife, just everything to see him living, it motivated me more. Amen. And, um, I guess I didn't even know this.

He had sent a text out to the pastors after he saw me the first night, and he said that everybody, he wanted everybody to pray over me because, uh, you know, um, he felt that my calling was to the kids. And that's when I sent you that picture where all the kids was surrounding me. Um, him and I were in front and we asked the kids who was ready to turn their life over to Jesus, and they all got up. They all got up and started walking to the front. And he, he really motivated me, man.

He, he's like, he's like, God is using you, bro. He's like, you know, those kids were looking at you like, you, like you were an N b A player. Like you were a, a movie actor. Like, and you're just jc That's how God works. And, um, he's uh, really behind on us on the whole ministry, everything. Um, so, I mean, you know, God is, God is working in this whole wrong, strong, uh, uh, movement ministry. I mean, it's all his, he, he hijacked it a long time ago.

Omar

Yeah. I remember we talked, like when we did the first podcast, how you had a vision for Wrong to Strong to go in a certain direction. But like, I think, I think you said, uh, uh, Jesus is a, a stick up boy. I don't even remember that. Yeah, he's a stick up boy. He just, he just a

JC

jack. He, me, he, he pulled up the mask and I seen it was him. He was like, stick him up. Stick this

Omar

a wrong to strong. Belongs to me now. Huh? No, that, that also, brother Matt. Hey, uh, I'm glad man. I, I'm grateful just to be able to reconnect with you and I'm glad you, you invited me along on this journey. I'm glad you challenged me to, to start this man, and it's just been, uh, uh, accounted the other day, 40, um, interviews, man, that, that we've done on here. And it all started from you, man.

And going back to you listening to, uh, praying and listening to God, I just wanna thank you, man, for the opportunity to, to do this. It's been a blessing, uh, getting these stories. uh, testimonies, you know, people from all type of different backgrounds been able to connect with men, Mexico, different states, and man just sharing their stories. It's been a blessing and I've been learning from each and every one of 'em, And I pray that we're able to continue to do this.

'cause I know that these stories are giving hope to others that come from similar backgrounds, similar traumas, experiences, to know that there is hope and God, God could help you to turn your life around.

JC

Yeah. No, I, um, I just, I, I would leave everybody with just that, that, you know, um, it, it starts with us. And, and when we, when we're honest with God, he already knows. He already knows. But when we're honest with him and we really, you know, get on our knees, I mean, I, I, because a lot of us. Truly inside don't know how to get on our knees. We really don't know how to say. Okay. Like, I'm done. You know, it's a fight. We live in a broken world. We're all broken.

I understand, I understand now how broken we are. But all it takes, man, you know, we watch America's Got Talent and Simon always says, uh, these next two minutes are gonna change your life forever. Well, guess what? God only needs half a second. And, uh, everything could change for you. And if you've been like me and you've done everything under the sun to try and get better, nothing's worked. That's that's what it is, is that nothing works. Only Jesus works.

Amen. And, and that's the way I am, the way he said. Yes. And um, ever since then, uh, my life has changed, man. And, and that's why I just wanna share with everybody.

Omar

Amen., brother, any, any, any final words and can you close us out in prayer as we get ready to, to wrap up?

JC

It's never too late. Even right now, if you're hearing this and you know what you've done, where you've lived, where you wanna go, just everything. You have to ask yourself every single question and just be honest. And after that, just let him take over the steering wheel. Let him drive. How, how v i p can that be to just sit in the back and let God drive? Amen. I don't get no better than that. Yes, sir. All right, father God. Thank you, thank you for this, for this moment.

Thank you for, for this talk. Thank you for whoever's listening. Thank you for just the work that you're doing in our hearts and our lives, and our minds and our bodies. Thank you for our wives. Thank you for our families. I pray for all those out there on the streets, Lord, all the mental, the health, uh, all the drug addicts, all the widows, all the orphans, the children. I pray for everybody that's at the border. Lord, I pray for all those out there sick that still haven't found you.

Lord, I know you're a great given Father and your heart is big, and I experienced it firsthand. Lord, all I ask is that you touched her heart. Lord, thank you for this message. Thank you for what you're doing in my life. Thank you for Omar. Thank you for Dean. Thank you for just everybody. I ask all this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Omar

Amen. Amen. In Jesus' name. Hey brother, man, I'm glad for, for what God's doing in your life, man. He continue to work in your life, know that, uh, those battles, those scars, they, they were for a purpose. Man. You're, you're alive for a reason. And like you mentioned, you've just begun to live in him and through him, may he continue to use you to minister to others. May he continue to, restore joy in your life, man, just like he did at that camp.

And that's just a glimpse of what, of what God's getting, ready to do through you, brother. So I wanna thank you for your obedience, for your heart, man. Just continue to serve, and I'm gonna serve right, right alongside you. And man, all you men of God that are watching this, like my brother said, report to duty. When you get to prayer, you, you're reporting to duty. You know, he desires to, to hear from you and to speak to you.

You know, so be, make that time, you know, quiet time so he can speak into your life, lead you and guide you. And man, let's, let's, let's get to work together. Yes, sir. Alright man. And with that I, we're ready to wrap up. I just want, uh, I think thank everybody for joining us here in another episode of Wrong to Strong. Uh, Matthew four 16 reads, the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death, light has down.

That's JC Almanza I'm Omar Calvillo. We are wrong to strong.
