Episode description

"We should have autonomy over the language we write in." Waikato Students' Union President, 'Nukutawhiti' Editor and 'Writing the New World' researcher Kyla Campbell-Kamariera talks frankly about the politics of publishing in NZ university student newspapers in the 1970s and now.
Kyla talks about how her 'Writing the New World' research findings strengthened her resolve to make history at The University of Waikato and 'Nexus' Student Newspaper by launching 'Nukutawhiti' - a Te Reo Māori Student newspaper in September 2020.
Thank you Kyla for your activism, thank you for sharing your important story. Whakarongo mai!
