Jon Moxley finally has his challenger for the world title at All In. Hangman Page beat Will Ospreay in the final of the Owen Hart Cup so he can go to All In. And he can fight Moxley! And lose so Darby Allin can come back instead and beat the Deathriders once and for all. Here he is. He's on the skateboard. I can hear him now down that little mountain. I'm Oli Davis. I'm joined by Luke Owen D.A.D. Welcome to the AEW Double or Nothing 2025 Review Podcast. We do cover AEW. Look at us.
Let's not draw attention to it. We've given you so much, AEW. Stop drawing attention to it. Me and Luke. More than ever. Stop drawing attention to it. Okay, I'll try. press that down
I mean, I would say, we were going to do this review before what happened happened. This was always on the docket. But now it looks like a knee-check response. Well, I know, and I think you bringing attention to it makes it look even more like a knee-check response when this was always the plan. I'm not very good at it. just not making light.
of anger. Okay, that's the other side of it as well is that you and I are making lighter of this and we are very much appreciative of everyone's feedback this Thursday. in five minute reviews are coming back where they were going back to our regularly scheduled programming so we're taking the feedback on board you and I our natural disposition though is to try and make light of it because it makes it easier for us to digest you know, that mistake and anything's like the other.
But at the same time, because it's British sarcasm, that often doesn't translate... across the screen and it makes it look like we're being petty. But we have to. We have to make light of it, otherwise we'd cry. And as we have established,

that closed the show because there wasn't, you know, like no big championship match I'd say on this card. It was all Owen Hart Cup finals or anarchy in the arena. Or Okada actually pulling out a good performance. Hey, he does it every now and again, you know. When the lights are on and it's not TV, then you're getting proper Okada in there. You're getting. and a quarter star. But this was Hangman Page versus Will Ospreay in the final of the Owen Hart Cup. And even after...
five and a quarter hours of watching this show if you tuned in at the very start of the pre-show on which there were two matches. Six hour card overall. Even with all of that beforehand, this... It told such a good cinematic story. I'm not saying it's pure cinema. I'm saying this is a cinematic version of wrestling.
where I feel like it had more in common with a Western than a traditional wrestling psychology build. Which is what they'd set up on Dynamites in that excellent promo segment between Osprey and Hangman, which is that Osprey invited him to a shootout. I'll see you in the desert for an old classic cowboy showdown.
And the match played out like that. There was actually a spot in this match that was literally, you know, who's going to be the first one to draw here. And it was Hangman that got the win, which actually, you know, in a way you can look back and I was like, I wonder if that is there too.
sell you who the winner of this match is going to be. But what I loved about this match, and again it plays off the promo segment from Dynamite, and both of their entrances really hammer this home. This isn't just about winning the Owen, which is a prestigious thing. This isn't just about getting the world title shot at all in the biggest show of the year, which is the biggest thing you could win at this point if you're not the world champion. but it's also about
Who is going to be the man who's going to save AEW? Is it going to be Will Ospreay? Is it going to be Hangman Page? Is it going to be Will, the shiny new toy, who since he's walked into this company has been like, I'm the future of this company. I'm the future world champion. Or...
Is it the day one cowboy looking for his redemption? And it just, I was on the edge of my seat for all of this. And I did not know which way it was going to go. Like looking back at it now, and I think they've told a very nice A lovely little bit of synergy, because on the very first Double or Nothing six years ago, Hangman Page won a shot at the Wild title at All Out, and he was unsuccessful.
and now six years later he's won a world title shot at double or nothing to get a title shot at all in. Can he do it this time? There was some niceness there. There was that moment with the shootout when it was Hangman Page going for the buckshot and Osprey was on the other side of the ring preparing the Hidden Blade. Essentially two cowboys
waving their hands by their belts to draw. Get ready to finger again. Right to the very end, I thought this could go either way. However, narratively, quite early on in the match, I was like, Story-wise, this is Hangman's. Because Hangman goes in, and it was that story, like you just said, of who gets to save AEW Ultimate. And a brilliant go-home segment where they sort of laid the foundations of that in the promo where Will's like,
Do I have to be the awful person? Will the awful side of someone win? Is that what's needed to defeat Jon Moxley? Or is it someone... who is morally good and doesn't do the horrible things that they might have done to Swerve Strickland in the past, who will be the winner. And from pretty early on in this match, I was like, well is Racine Hangman? Hangman is wrestling well.
And also Hangman. And as soon as I realised that, I thought, this is Hangman's story. He's the main character in this match. He's the main character in AEW right now. So he'll probably be the guy that wins. And then, you know, it's a really thrilling movie that you watch unfold, but you always kind of know, well, Iron Man's going to win at the end. Maybe he'll die sometimes. Maybe he'll come back in a totally different role sometimes. But yeah, it was quite a... Yeah, it was a definitive...
finish as well for Hangman to hit that buckshot lariat and just pin Ospreay one, two, three. And it's, you know, to put over Will Ospreay, which is something we don't often do here on the rest of the podcast channel. Don't like our own countrymen. To put over Will.
And one of the things I really love and respect about Will Ospreay as a wrestler and a guy who lays out matches as well. I think that's one of the things that people don't give him enough credit for is that he is very smart at laying matches out and being like, do this because it means you can do this later and it will make this feel more impactful.
We've been in the room when he's done that with people. It often involves a swear word every other. You effing do this, and you get him effing here, and you effing that. Exactly. As I said, the one on Dynamite, I'm pretty sure he was not supposed to drop that. It's just that Will just came out of himself. But because this is Hangman's story, this match is and this tournament and this last few months have been Hangman's story to make him the main character of AEW once again.
our cowboy the cowboy s the guy that we ran behind the guy that we just fell in love with in 2000 in 2021 and a lead up to full game when he won that title Will then start playing Hale. Will, he started are doing things that would make the crowd not only just boo him, but cheer Hangman more. Because it was a split crowd. There were people who wanted to say, you know, let's go Osprey, let's go Hangman. Both these guys chants. But we'll...
then started to do things that would make people cheer Hangman more and boo him. So, but not just by like, oh, I'm just gonna get a chair and I'm just gonna be a heel for five minutes.
He did it in character. So the start of the match was Will tried to strike with Hangman and it wasn't working because Hangman is the better striker. So Will's there throwing forearms. Hangman just throws one forearm and Will's going... and he just falls down like a tree in the woods just falls down and so later on he then starts to get frustrated that he can't outstrike hangman so he starts just wailing on
To the point where it's like, okay, well, now you've just overstepped. This is no longer a striking contest. This is you trying to take advantage now. You should not be punching him in this position that he's in. And that led to the table breaks. Well, fortunately, the announcer's table broke early. It was the Kurt Angle Triple H spot they unfortunately did. Although The Rock and CM Punk when they tried to do the rock bomb and they clattered through it. It happened.
But yeah, I just really wanted to put over Will and how he told, and actually not just told the story, elevated and amplified that story to really enhance the crowd within the telling of that story. And it shows, like you said, Hangman is the main focus of this and Will danced around Hangman to tell Hangman's story better. Before that, just before that bit, you also had both guys hitting...
TNA moves! Because Hangman has that connection with Christopher Daniels after he went too far with Daniels earlier this year. So he hit an angel's wings. The fallen angel, of course, there's so much there. He even went for a BME at Best Moonsault Ever. But he sort of botched that. Yeah.
I think he intended that botch. It's one of those beautiful things of I don't know either way. It could be because they worked it into the next few spots. That you could be like, oh yeah, that was just a botch. But then there's also... Ah, but that could have been an intentional botch because it's Hangman going to this thing of like I need to give tribute to this
But I'm also not Christopher Daniels. He's trying to be someone he isn't. Which is a big metaphor for his whole character. But that let Ospreay get in and hit a hidden blade. Yeah, that Angel's Wings came off a reversal of the Styles Clash as well. Which then is what makes you think of that sort of... TNA connection of two guys who grew up with that X Division style of wrestling and storytelling.
certainly for Will Ospreay I don't think it's you know it's only with the Angels wing stuff it's it's very much tied into this AEW character but I would imagine as well as wrestlers like this is a tribute to these guys from 20 like these are the wrestlers that we grew up watching Well, it's one of the great things about matches of this quality
But I feel like in the attitude era, it was very much, I'm going to hit your finisher on you. And then in the 2010s, it was, we're just going to hit all of our finishers all the time. And now it's like, I'm going to hit people's finishes who aren't even in this match. But I once wrestled in Japan 20 years ago. Or there's someone who's close to you. Because Ospreay, then off of this, he hits the Styles Clash.
Off the apron, onto the floor. That was a gross landing there. It was nice. It was horrible. And then he also did Kenny Omega's V-Trigger. And he did the point, the Bullet Club point and everything. It's a shootout as well, so it's all thematically appropriate. So, you know, that's tying into Hangman's, the start of Hangman's journey in AEW. Granted, you can say the start of the journey is Double on Earth and 2019, but really, like, his character arc starts with that.
teaming with Kenny Omega that leads to his world championship win but also it's kind of it's Will's story in AEW because he is tied to Kenny Omega and the series of matches that they had in AEW and then Hangman responds to this by hitting swerves moves. He hit the, I always call it the JML driver, but it's big pressure, isn't it? Yeah. And he hit it in a way where Will's foot just got caught in the ropes for the near four.
But that bit you just You know, we're doing AJ's moves, we're doing Christopher Daniels' moves, we're doing Kenny Omega's moves. I kind of forgot about the bromance between Swerve and Hangman because surely they're going to come together at some point. They've got a team up against the Deathriders. Or Swerve is the first opponent, respectfully, of Hangman when he hopefully beats Moxley. And it's not just spots for spots sake. They are tied to the characters as well. Will doing Kenny's move.
was to get into hangman's head and again trying to get the crowd to boo him and cheer hangman and hangman doing swerve stuff it's learning from the wars that you've been through previously interestingly well, you know, swerve on this card. He's in Anarchy in the Arena, which was just One of the best matches. Incredible. And he is. He's Swerve. He's the sicko. He's stapling. He's getting staples in his tongues and stuff. Tongues. He only has one tongue.
He came out as a predecessor, so it could be... And he also had brand new sneakers, which have... Thumbtacks. Tongues. Saved it. Well done. Saved it. No, no, no. Snap. that so swerve is still doing that hardcore stuff but on this on this paper you hangman he has moved past that he's realized the better version of his self is the one that should win ultimately and beat Moxley. And that's what I meant earlier when I said he wasn't just facing Ospreay, he's facing Hangman Page. He's facing this
bad version of himself that has been built up over the last couple of years. Shadowrun version. And by not cheating, by not sinking to another level, by not losing control of his anger, because that never happens here. It's Will who loses control, arguably, at one point. He is the better man. Do you think that at some point, I don't know how much of a comic book guy that he is, but they saw Thunderbolts and they were like, hmm, what if?
We add a void version of Hangman Page that I'm also wrestling in this match. What, just like someone dressed all in the back? It's a mode in AEW Fight Forever. One of the stories does lead you down the path where you have to fight a Shadow Realm version of yourself. Beautifully, he does win with his own move. It's a buckshot lariat that gets the win for him.
And I do love that story of six years ago, he won a title shot at Double or Nothing. Six years later, he's winning another one. He was unsuccessful then. Can he be successful this time? But the question we had at the top of this, you know, the thumbnail for... And I was curious to get your take on this because you said on the predictions video that we did, this should be Will. Because... But just for context, the day before I was saying it should be Hangman.
And now I'm saying it should be Hangman again. Okay, that's what I was going to ask, is do you think that he was the right winner? Because I went into it wanting it to be both guys, knowing that it can't be both guys, would have been happy with it being both guys, but when I got the winner I got, I did think that is the right choice. Both guys were the right choice, but that is the right choice.
choice. It's the more writer choice. It's the more writer choice. I think Hangman's coming out of this. If he, you know, I'm presuming he goes on to beat Moxley. If he doesn't... Do you think he is though? He's got to! Like I said, he's the main character right now. He just beat Ospreay. If he's beating Ospreay, he has to beat Moxley. My prediction is it's Texas Deathmatch. Which is I think how he's beaten Moxley previously. which I'd imagine plays a part of the story.
is I've beaten you in this match type before and I can do it again. You beat Ospreay clean with no gimmicks. Yeah. But I'm going to drag you back to the worst version of yourself, Hangman. And then you've got, again, it's Hangman versus Moxley. also versus Hangman again.
Sorry, I'm just going to throw this out there as a prediction for All In. I'm going to get this one out now before anyone else... I don't know if anyone steals my idea. Hangman's mission at the start of this year was he cannot have Swerve be the world champion. I think Swerve will help Hangman. That is beautiful. Win the world title. Because I was like, it cannot be you.
that's why it has to be oh that is perfect because all the death riders are going to get involved and then swerve has to help hangman he has to build up the storyline of like swerve i'm not going to help you The things you've done to me are... Although they did kind of reconcile a bit, didn't they? Well, sort of, yeah, because Swerve said... Backstage. Well, Swerve admitted wrongdoing, but Hangman didn't... You can see in Hangman he did not believe the words that he just heard.
And it can be all of them. It can be Kenny can come out and help the people from Hangman's past here. It's his. Assemble moment. Oh, beautiful. I really like that. And coming out of it, you know, I think that builds up Swerve as a challenger. I had them listed, actually. I wrote them out because I was fantasy booking. I was so excited. There are so many notes because this paper is so long. Swerve. Kenny Omega, of course. Will Ospreay, even though he's been in here. MJF.
Hangman and MJF have been having that sort of ongoing thing backstage. And I, looking back to when Hangman first won the belt, I don't think he had a great run. No. Well, that's because he was just holding onto it until Punk won it. Because Punk came in and was like, well, whoever gets the belt here is just holding it until we give it to CM Punk. And also, let's be honest, Hangman's dangerous.
Don't know whether he's going to shoot on you in a match. Yeah, and I just want to say, when we reviewed that show where he won the title, I did say, I think this is a mistake. And, you know, hate to be proven right. She look awfully happy about it. But yeah, I look back and Hangman, of course he had that 60-minute title match against Danielson, which is brilliant. Wangman. Yeah, Wangman. But then it's Lance Archer, Adam Cole. Yeah.
It's not quite Daniel Bryan getting Kane after Mania 30, but it wasn't like... It's not far off. You needed top-tier names, and I think coming out of, hopefully, an All-In Title 1-4 page, you do have five huge-name top-tier names. of AEW stars to have matches against. I'd add Samara Joe into there as well. Yeah, Joe. But I wouldn't put him at the... Oh no, maybe I would, you're right.
So, yeah, I think I'm not just excited, but I think before, because I was a bit down when Hangman won it. Do you remember? I know. I was like, I think they could have held off for a year.
Because, and I'm not saying I could foresee what was going to happen. I just, I don't know, it wasn't... I wasn't excited for what a Hangman Page title run would look like, because he hadn't gone dark enough I guess, but now I cannot wait for him to win the belt because I see this brilliant hero in the aftermath to go against all these top guys.
I'd also, I'd throw Darby in there, because I think there's a story to be told of. There's always going to be a TV title, which is that. A good match for TV. There's a story to be told of. This should have been my moment. and I chose to go up a mountain instead, and you took that away from me. slutade hundpromenaden med ett getingstick i nosen. Hos Agri ingår sjukvård. Let's see what you all think on your Omega chats. WrestleTalk.com forward slash support will read out every single one over five US dollars. Kevin writes, that's cowboy s-word, bruv. The callbacks to Omega, Swerve and Daniels were perfect. Amazing main event. The Anarchy in the Arena match felt to me like they did one too many at the beginning, but they managed to pull me back in with crazy action. was perfect from Statsun. Matt Satz,
I was at my most invested in AEW when Hangman was the main character, and seeing him win the Owen makes me happy. Hopefully he beats Mox, don't wait for Derby, Tony Khan, and gets a proper run this time. Fantastic match, great show, the build to Osprey Page. really made me realise how much I prefer Hangman as a performer to Will. I think Ospreay is an amazing wrestler, but some of the interviews he's done recently give me Seth Rollins 2019 vibes.
where he just comes across as uncool. Oh, harsh. Yeah, I disagree very strongly there, Matt. I think Osprey is... And I don't think we're saying this because, you know, he's our best friend and we know him behind the scenes. ¡Ay! He is one of the most sincere on-screen performers I've ever seen. I think where the comparison, and I totally get what you're going for with the 2019 Seth Rons comparisons.
The reason why I don't think it works is because at that time, WWE was a toilet company putting out a garbage product. And Sethron's being like, this is where the best wrestlers, we've got the best wrestlers on the planet. We make the most money. I was like, oh, you're so uncool, man. But Will is going out there and he's Coming off a string of consistently great AEW pay-per-views being like, we're putting on consistently great AEW pay-per-views. And we're like, yeah, you are, aren't you?
Kurt Krauser and I match card where the shortest match was 12 minutes and I wouldn't take a single match off the card. i would i can't have made the main i've got up i will say which ones as we go through the night i can't have made the main event uh after a match of the night Made the main event have to earn Match 5. Oh, right, I see. And the hanger and will still delivered. Cowboy S-Word deserves his gold. Thank you, gents, as always. Gem at Gem. KK, much love. Vomitocliante.
I can never decide which was my favourite wrestler. This fight was going to decide it. During the fight, I could make up my mind and choose, and he just won. I love them both, but Hangman is everything. The main event feel and camera angles was perfect. Yeah, the whole presentation from the entrances, they got their little... VOs beforehand. Will Ospreay got a kind of stained glass window entrance as well.
DOR NAMU! Right. The building is going to explode three times at All In. Once when Hangman comes out on a horse with his babyface music hitting. Once when Mox beats him. And once when Derby's music hits the safe hangman to set up that Derby title win. Or maybe Hangman just wins. I like that option more than just winning option. Yeah, oh man, don't go back to whatever your original plan was, Tony, if that was the case. Get saved by Adam Copeland.
Darth Raminus says, Hangman's title shot isn't just his chance at redemption, but Tony Khan's too. Khan was so enamoured with CM Punk when Page won his first title. The whole reign suffered. This guy gets it. This guy gets it. I was really impressed by the one clip I saw of Tony Khan at the press conference. Oh yeah? He was asked by someone. What was it? I feel like you're getting counter-programmed a lot by a company right now. What's your thought?
And Tony Khan said, yeah, yeah, I think that's true. I think we are being really heavily counter-programmed. Like, no one's been counter-programmed this much since Jim Crockett promotions in the 80s. But let me tell you. This will go a lot better. And I was like, that is a really mature measured response. He had a cheeky grin on his face. It was succinct. It was to the point.
Really well done, Tony. I don't often say that in Tony Khan media interviews. Didn't say WWE by name. Yeah. Which has often been one of his downfalls. Very impressed. where there are loads of exclusive shows up there, like me and Luke reviewing Money in the Bank 2020, the greatest money in the bank of all time. In the three count style. In three words or less slash viewer. The squeakiest money in the bank of all time. Squeaky shoes. And one thud. Yes, the comment section I was saying is that there was a thud in the original broadcast. Yeah, someone sent the clip in and everything, but there's the thud from the time. Something is doctored.
We're not talking about Star Wars prequel trilogy again today. We've been doing this for like a month now. I don't even like them. I haven't even watched them recently. They're in her head. I know. I think Revenge of the Sith is fine. We have a poll up, by the way, from our mod mother. Who would you like to...
Who do you think was the right winner? Do you think it was the right winner? Would you have picked Hangman or Osprey? I think Hangman might win the poll, but I'm curious to see how many people who disagreed with the choice of Hangman. So, was he the right winner?
And yes, patreon.com forward slash Russell Talk. Please go over there to support us making AW reviews because they don't draw as Right, the full play-by-play of the show started on the pre-show with Harley Cameron and Anna Jay versus Megan Bain and Penelope Ford. My first note is Harley shoved Megan's face into Jay's butt. It's a lot of butt-focused offense from Cameron and Jay. It's the ass, Bill. The ass. That's what Kenny would want.
Yeah, this felt like they're doing the building blocks of a women's tag title scene, which has been the conversation and a few interviews that Tony's done over the last week of. Are you going to introduce Women's Tag Team Championships? Because you've now got Megan and Ford, you've got Anna Jane Harley Cameron, you have also got Deonna Purrazzo and Taya Valkyrie doing some tag stuff.
You've got the Renegade Twins when both of those are fit and healthy. So there are teams that you can do. Sky Blue and Julia Hart. Julia Hart are a great example. So I said in my edited review, like we need more. And a few people have called me out on that to be like, but we need more titles because that is how you can tell a story.
No. Well, A, I disagree. B, and I've said this about women's tag titles on this show before, but I do think it bears repeating. It bears worth repeating, whatever that phrase is. The problem is not having too many titles, but that is a problem. the problem with having too many women's titles is you're only having one women's match a week so you are going to struggle to tell lots of stories to put over three sets of belts when you're only doing one women's match a week and maybe two backstage
There's not enough TV time dedicated to the women to allow a main title, a TBS title, and tag belts. So rather than just add tag belts and be like, well, this will fix the issue. perhaps address the first issue which is the TV time you're giving to women on AEW programming and then explore from there. I think you're totally right. What if, though, they unify the belts at all in, the top two singles titles, and that is a way to bring in tag belts?
Yeah, it's not currently advertised as a way to unify the belts. It's just one of the titles. But there's champion versus champion. Yeah, it can be, yeah. I thought this was good. It was a fun match. I enjoyed it. Who won? Harley hit a finishing move. I was like, why haven't I written the name of it? And it's because the name of her finishing move is her finishing move.
That's the name of Harley Cameron's finishing move. It's her finishing move. She hit her finishing move. This is so awkward to make notes on. I've not had to do that before. Yeah, surprising winners, which I enjoyed. Yeah, I really like Harley Cameron. I'm a bit disappointed in the follow-up to Megan Bain, considering where she was at in that sort of Monster of the Week, Tony Storm match, and now here she is on the pre-show in a tag match. Yeah, you know, Diana Parato says hello. Yeah.
That kind of solidifies the point I was making. We got a really fun eight-man tag of Hologram, Bandido, AR Fox, and Commander. Took me ages to figure out who the fourth Luchador was. I was like, which one is it? And versus Trent, Rocky, Action Andrade, and Leo Rush. They were so fast. Everyone was so fast. It's your party match. And they went out and they had a party match. Do you know what they did? Cool stuff.
And then they just did more cool stuff. They did some dives, they did some more cool stuff, and then the good guys won. Thumbs up! I'm gonna say thumbs slightly tilted. Not to full thumbs up because they did cool stuff then they did cooler stuff then they did the coolest thing in the match Then they had a kick out and they did a normal move and they won on that When on the four-person Stereo dive Not the finishing move afterwards. I thought you had the perfect finish.
a move beforehand. The main card opened up with Mercedes Monet versus Jamie Hayter. Women's finals of the Owen Hart Cup. This was really good. Awesome. Hayter was a Decepticon dressed in green and purple. She's trying to be a babyface. Well, yeah, it's Daphne. Yeah. It's a weird look. I've never quite... Got on board with it. I'm not vibing with Jamie Hayter's Scooby-Doo reinvention. I preferred the split die. Jamie Hayter look and vibe.
Gotta try something new, I totally get it. But yeah, this Daphne thing is not gelled with me. I don't feel like I'm vibing with her as much as I was previously. But this was a really good... I really enjoyed this match. It was sort of Monet's smarts over haters' brute strength. So Monet would like... get her in a submission or maybe she
uses the ring ropes to get her into a double knees meteor thing to the outside at one point on the back. Focusing on the lower back. It's really back and forth still. Monet hits three backstabbers into the bank statement. There was this awesome bit when Monet rolls through move to go for a pin but Jamie just chokes her. It's that wrestling smarts versus the brute strength and it's like no I'm just gonna muscle you into a sleeper instead. Monet kicked out of a bunch even a tombstone but then
Monet countered this lariat into a sort of pin that was also a DDT. I don't think it was supposed to also be a DDT. But I'd rather that than her usual terrible thing. Ha ha ha! Yeah, hey, 60% of the time, it works every time. Even that botched roll-up. was better than your normal finishing move. Yeah, I would agree with you there. But then she ran out the ring immediately, scared of Ada, because she knows she just got away with that. I thought this was a great match, really good finish.
I really like the finishing particularly because she went with a small package, which is one of Tony's finishes, the big package. So you can play into that now on TV. Next up was FTR taking on Nigel McGuinness and Daniel Garcia. Nigel McGuinness is 49 years old. And he...
Has a great body. Is that okay for me to say? I don't know. He's just got a great body for a 49 year old man. He's got goals. It's something I would aspire to have as I approach my 40th year. I suppose that's what I'm really trying to say. I want to look like... Nigel McGuinness now, let alone when I'm 49.
I think that's fair. You know, as someone who is a commentator as well, he's in fine form. He's kept it tight in there. Yeah. I got slightly distracted at the start of this match, though, because they announced him from London, England. And I was like, how dare you? He is from Staplehurst in Kent. And I went to sort of look it up.
He was born in London. So he was born in London, but he was made in Staplehurst. Yes. It sounds like one of those British Navy adverts, the recruitment adverts. I was born in Staplehurst, but I was made in the Royal Navy. I was born in Stoke when I was made in the Royal Navy. Now, in my version, no matter where you're from in the country, you have a bad Geordie accent. Sorry, was that your Geordie accent? What accent would it have been?
If not, well, it was certainly more, it was on the other side of the country, I would say. You were more Yorkshire-y than you were the North East, like, I thought this match went on a tad too long. But it was very good. Really dramatic at points as well, like Nigel McGuinness was worked over for ages. I was like, bro, the whole point of you is to take it easy on the ring apron. That's why this is a tag match.
Why are you taking shatter machines on the outside? I was like, why do we put him to the Danny hot tag? I mean, I guess it makes sense. He's on the main roster. Like, it should be the Danny hot tag. But all I quite liked about it as a finish is that it did sort of play with your expectations. They did build to a Daniel Garcia hot tag. But then, even when he had his hot tag, very quickly, FTR just shut that down, locked him in the sharpshooter, took out Nigel McGuinness.
And then it's just Cash just dominating the ring, diving out, taking out daddy magic, boating Nigel off the ring so no one could get in and help. I thought, oh, wow, they've just made them look awesome. Like, Nigel went out of his way and did everything he could to put over Dax and Cash. Yeah, Garcia passed out in that sharpshooter in the end. Their mission, as it should be, is to get this new heel act of FTR over his massive dominating heels.
And yes, we love Nigel McGuinness, but he is a commentator like in the world of kayfabe this is how it should have gone. Yeah. But it was a really, it was a really dramatic match and it was really well worked as well. Just think slightly too long considering. the overall length of the night and maybe maybe you could cut this off the card no i i think i think keep it but make it I particularly enjoyed when Nigel had Cash Wheeler on the outside.
And he was in Tony Schiavone's face. And Cash was like, I'm so sorry, Tony. I'm so sorry for everything he did. And then Cash threw Nigel into the barricade. And my fingers crossed. I didn't mean it. Mark Briscoe took on Ricochet in a stretcher match. That's actually an ambulance match. I could have had this on TV. Yeah, this is one of the matches I would say I would cut.
Which pains me, because I really enjoyed it. I thought it was so much fun. I saw in your review you said it wasn't to your taste. It wasn't to my taste, only because I think the magic... There's loads of blood and table spots and a Sabu reference.
Well, what I enjoyed about it was that there's sort of like two halves of this, which is Mark Briscoe doing funny, funny, laugh, laugh, goof stuff, you know, doing the Mr. Clean, bald stuff, you know, all that's very funny. And then Ricochet is like, okay, we've had enough fun now. Now I'm going to murder you.
With scissors. With scissors. And that's when it sort of turned into this quite bloody affair. So I did enjoy this match. I would not have had it on the pay-per-view card. What I meant by it's not to my taste is that I think it's a corny match stipulation. A bit goofy, a bit too... What it reminds me of is if I booted up 2012 WWE pay-per-view at random this match type would be on there and it would be Kane versus Mark Henry and I go oh god
Well, this is it. Oh man, I'll watch this for the six minutes that it's on for. That will plod and feel like 20. So maybe I'm just going in with those sorts of expectations. My friend Charles, who's training to be a wrestler, he's only just become a wrestling fan since the Netflix era. He is watching every pay-per-view ever.
And he hit 2011 a couple of weeks ago. And he was like, I can't do it. And he's had to go down to the big four for the last, like, 2013. And now he's watching more in 2014. I was like, good luck with that. But yeah, it's exactly your point. Yeah. So I enjoyed it from that aspect of it, but I don't think it needs to be on this pay-per-view card. Though what it did do is give you a reason why the ambulance was there for when you get to the Anarchy and Arena match. How do you think?
I think they just thought that up when they saw the ambulance. Potentially. I don't think they book the ambulance match to have a spot where everyone gets trapped. Why would the ambulance be there? Stretcher match. I think you were just triggered by the bald I don't know what you mean. I enjoyed the Sabu tribute. Yeah, nice little spot. Bye. think Ricochet's heel work is... For the heel he has been, it is perfection. It's so good. He does not let the baby face
do any of the things that the crowd wanted to do. Even a Sabu reference. Cut it off. He puts the table back under the ring. This is a heel. Well done, Ricochet. And he won, surprisingly. Mark was just bleeding so much. Well, I thought Ricochet is the sort of guy who could take a loss. No, Mark Briscoe is there to take losses. I thought this was one of those times. where they give Mark Briscoe a win to say, look, we don't always beat him. He won that stretcher match, remember?
I love looking at eight-man tag lineups, seeing Mark Briscoe there and being like, well, I know who's taking the pinfall then. Yeah, it's not Kenny, it's Joe. So there were scissors at the end, and Mark gets another little bit of a scissor fight, and then Ricochet throws Mark Briscoe in the ambulance to win. Oh, one other spot. Froggy bow off the top rope through a table. Very fun. But then, and he was bleeding so much, Mark. the first time Ricochet tried to throw him in the ambulance.
The crotch came through the door to stop the door being closed, which is, yes, it's a booking crotch. Can I have some cheap pops for that in the comments? And the thousands and thousands of you listening on iTunes comment. Can you comment on iTunes? I don't think you can. Can you comment on Apple Podcasts? No. Or you can comment on Spotify. It's easy to do. Just comment now and say, oh my God, that booking crutch was lit. Those words, exactly. Those words, exactly. Or you can- you can have fa-
But it has to be positive towards the booking crotch. If you put a fire emoji in the place of lit, I will understand what you mean. Yeah, that's good. Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara then took on the Hurt Syndicate. I would keep this match on the card just because I think it's fun to have the MJF.
It's the following of that more than it is. This was less about, this is one of those times where it's not really about the match or who the Hurt Syndicate are against. It is a continuation of the MJF in the Hurt Syndicate storyline. Yeah. So MJF was really the focus. It was good stuff in the ring. It's Dustin, it's Sammy. God, it struck me at one point. I thought Sammy Guevara was one of the four pillars. He was, yeah. And MJF is as well.
that's not if those two even looked at each other in a dynamite of old four pillars would have been said about eight times but now they're sort of brushing that under the carpet yeah Um, But yeah, MJF, he keeps on trying to help the Hurt Syndicate, but they don't want his help. No, at one point he got up on the apron to hand over the dynamite ring and was like, Bobby, this has taken too long. Just use the ring.
And then they're outside, and MJF is going to hit Dustin, and then Bobby stops him. And MJF's like, look, use the diamond ring, it's right here. And Bobby goes, I've got a better off. And he spears Dustin through the barricade. It's wicked. What I love about this then is that he puts his arm around Mac.
and they celebrate together, and they stand in position, and you can see in the ring, Sammy Guevara setting up to do the dive, he's like, whoop, and here he goes, he's gonna do the dive onto the heels, they get their comeuppance, no, Shelton Benjamin, flash knee, just jumps up and knees him in the face to cut the half,
Gets in the ring, thrust kick and pins him. They hurt people. We're not here for your flashy spots. We're here to hurt you and win. That Shelton cutoff of Sammy was awesome. I was just like, no! No, I don't want this match to go on any longer. Banks was right. This has gone on too long. So yeah, it was a really exciting win. It does nothing for Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevara. Oh, the ROH Tag Champions. But really builds the Hurts syndicate.
Which is sort of the story of their reign so far, isn't it? Squash peeps. Yeah. Actually, because we can't feud with anyone because we've undermined the tag division so much. The storyline's there with the singles guy.
I'm going to give a shout out to the person in the crowd. It was in the Edison review as well. But they had a sign that said the turd syndicate. Very good. I enjoyed it. Do you think there was... any dissension like was bobby actually annoyed with max because they seem to get yeah was it always the plan to sucker and dust him for that spear no i don't think it's suckering it it's just it's
It's explaining to Max, we're not a heel faction like the way you have been in heel factions before. This is how we operate as a business. Okay. That's a good read. Speedball Mike Bailey then took on Okada for the, don't tell me, the Continental title. That was a little championship, yes. Oh yeah, enjoy it while you can. It's going to be gone next month. Good.
What's it getting unified with? The International Championship, where they do Kenny and Okada, they'll unify the styles. So, my first question was, what level of Okada are we getting here?
And initially I was like, Bailey is just working so hard. He's so fast. He's doing all the kicks. He kicks the steel steps so he's sat on his leg. And Akata's like, well... let's slow this down because then the card gets on top and it is the very slow methodical stuff But then it built really, really nicely and by the end it was super dramatic.
And the final few moves was the fastest I've seen a card move in a year. Yeah, I know, it's because you're in there with Mike Bailey. Maybe it's just like it's because Mike moves so quickly. If anyone just moves just a little bit faster than they usually do, it just looks massively fast. But a really good near the end with a technical pin from Bayley. Because technical pins seem to be such a favoured finish at the moment. They can get actual good two counts.
But Okada catches him off the top rope with a perfect dropkick and then a Rainmaker to win. I love the fact that they are really establishing it just takes one Rainmaker to put you away. They've been putting that over for months. But a great performance from Speedball. Hopefully he can continue being in the mix of this stuff and not get Megan Bain'd.
Mina Shurikawa, speaking of potential Megan Bane fates, I think she'll be okay. I hope she will be. I think she'll be fine. Who will she fake? She loses to Tony Storm here, as we all predicted. No one in their right mind thought Mina Shurikawa would. possibly win here. No, but there'll be an eight-woman tag that she could be a part of. On all end taxes. Or maybe more IMA.
Look, yeah, Mariah May did say, I'm just on vacation at the moment, which feels like Instagram speak for, I'm trying to get a new contract. In Orlando? Yeah, that would make the most sense if it were to be Marami. That would be a very good feat for us to go. I feel like they edited around Mariah May, like how...
WWE edit around Jon Moxley and Shield video packages for the opening part of this match. I thought that too because there was, I didn't make this point on one of our Wrestle Podcasts recently, but when it was Storm and Mina Shirakawa, there was no mention whatsoever of Mariah Main I'm like that is conspicuous by absence because that's a pretty piece I've got Hangman referencing Christopher Daniels in the main event
And that was on Collision when it was in really bad ratings territory. This was one of your biggest views of all time. I thought they struck the balance of cartoonish and camp and actual competition. The three C's really well. Tony sold her knee. Kind of had like heel spots and like Luther's getting in the way of Mina, but never felt like a heel. Two great baby faces.
Tony sells the knee. She can't do the running hip attack. Of course, Mina is targeting the knee with the figure four. But a sudden Storm Zero to win. Really nice back and forth. And then they smooched. Yeah, they did the reversal sequence with the big package into the small package, which is how Mina won the right effacer at double or nothing. And then, yes, StormZero for the win. Very much enjoyed the match.
And yeah, then a little smoochy kiss. Greco-Roman lip lock. Another wrestling move. Celebrating their sexuality. And I think that is going to be a... And then it will be Tony versus Monet. at All In, one of the matches confirmed. Which is the right move. Yeah, yeah, definitely. Like, you know, Sat and I kept talking about like, oh, it makes a lot of sense for you to do Monet and Athena at All In for...
You know, for the ROA Women's Championship, for the Belt Collector gimmick and sort of the TBS Championship. It's in Athena's home state of Texas. And you can do the big stardom match of Jamie Hayter and Toni Storm for the world title.
But yeah, actually, you know, you take a step back and you're like, oh, no, no, the big match to do is Tony versus Monet. You should be doing that one on your biggest show of the year. It's negligence to not book those two. I would say so, yeah. I guess maybe Shirakawa could go after Hayter.
After this, they've got a stardom shared past. Yeah, that's a fun one. That's a good question about Will, actually. What does Will go next? This was his whole thing was, I need to be here and be the guy. And he lost the Calus family. Of course. Well, there's a bunch of guys he can fight in this next match. Anarchy in the Arena. Six versus six, was it, in the end? So you've got Samoa Joe.
Hobbs, Shibata, Willow Nightingale, Kenny Omega, and Swerve Strickland. Let me get all of these. Versus The Young Bucks, Jon Moxley, Wheeler Uta, Marina Shafir, and Claudio Castagnoli. Well done. game kill at the end yeah and a bit of mark briscoe at the end yeah not not eddie kingston so you hear the fight for talking about this that fight
I think AEW probably were aware that speculation and a fan speculation was running while Eddie Kingston was going to return. Well, because they watched the show. No, but the show never teased. No, no, they watched us. Oh, I mean, our show. Yes, absolutely. They were like, the reviews are back. Let's listen. Let's leave a thumbs up and help those ratios. Share it around. Share it around. Apparently Eddie didn't get surgery until last September.
so although he went out with the injury much earlier because it was quite a bad injury and he is not exactly a young spring chicken anymore he had to like let it recover a little bit before he'd go get surgery so he didn't actually have surgery until last september So it's still going to be a little while yet before he's back. How healthy does he have to be to set a guy on fire? Hook obviously wasn't medically cleared.
He swung a golf club. That was Kenny from South Park. I read that in your review. That was very good. The most orange hoodie ever. He comes down at one point. I know we're probably not telling the story of this match. There is no way to. We're just going to hop around from spot to spot. That was awesome. Yeah, Hook comes out one point and...
the brightest orange FTW Taz hoodie you could have. You know that bit in Spinal Tap where they were like, this album cover could be none more black. This hoodie could be none more orange. I felt like it was radioactive. That could have been the weapon, not the golf club. Do you want to hear my most? Pretentious observation? Pretentious observation. I would love to hear a pretentious observation about 2025's anarchy in the arena. So they have a...
For quite a lot of the initial part, they had four screens on screen at one time, so it was divided into quarters, and you could follow whichever one you wanted with your eyes. A lot like Mike Figgis' experimental movie Time Code from the year 2000. I understood the Young Bucks four score and six years ago promo that they had because I've seen Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. We speak the same.
It was, it's really, I mean, the reason I, as you're probably all aware, bring up Mike Figgis' 2000 experimental movie timecode is that it is playing with the art The form of the art. And I feel like that's what Anarchy in the Arena is. It is a very meta, chaos, Looney Tunes approach to wrestling. It's so much fun. if you had this a lot it would probably be quite insufferable and obnoxious but keeping it to once a year with all your top stars it's almost like
a crazy alternate universe where everyone goes to just go crazy. What I love about it as well is the knowingness of the opening of this match because as the years have gone on the rules of Anakin in the arena have like the lore of Anakin in the arena has grown over time so it's you know
music plays at the start of the match Brian Danielson is coming out to the final countdown so the final countdown is going to carry on playing while people are resting and the crowd are going to chant the final countdown and then the young buck is going to shut it off because it's too expensive So here in this match, because the Young Bucks came out last, they're like historical America music. I don't know how you would describe it, so I just described it.
Historical America music. Yeah, it's Civil War whistling. And because they're the founding fathers of AEW, that was their whole gimmick. So that is playing while they're having this fight. There's a bit of a meta commentary on the lore of this.
And then Kenny and Swerve are like, this doesn't, this isn't working. So they're like, you know, the production truck being like, this is, this is not working guys. We need something better. So the production truck with their tongue placed, firmly within their cheek play the pointer sisters i'm so excited which was used for like what two weeks on dynamite until there was so much backlash to it online that they stopped doing it i liked it but i like mina shurikawa's music
So they're doing that. Again, to be a bit of meta-commentary on this, so you can build to when Kenny Omega's like, no, no, no, we're not going to do this. we're going to party like it's 2001 and we're going to listen to Drowning Pool's bodies yeah famous alternative rock band Drowning Pool I don't want to correct Mr. Omega but he was incorrect when he described this as alternative rock music
This is Nu Metal, sir, and you should show it. You should show the genre, and your mate, show the genre the appreciation that it deserves. This was, of course, one of the early noughties Smackdown theme tunes. No. Oh, sorry, it was the theme tune to every other WWE Attitude Era pay-per-view? It was the theme tune for WWE's Invasion version of ECW.
Was it? I could have sworn it was Smackdown. No, it was no. Smackdown had Marilyn Manson's The Beautiful People. Yeah, but then it had Drowning Pop. No, then it went to... Oh... No, it didn't. I... I think it was the theme tune to Summerslam 2001, I think, and then it sort of became the ECW group theme for the, what they called the Alliance.
Okay, I've got it up here. This is an excellent playlist on Spotify, actually. So, yeah, a couple of Jim Johnston's early ones, but then it was The Beautiful People. Oh, no way, I'm wrong. It was The Beautiful People by Marilyn Manson. That's a bit of a survival series. Then is it Green Bay? Do you know the anime? Or is there one in between? Then it was I Want It All. I don't know how real this is. But then it is Drowning Pool. Rise up. Oh, there was a different Drowning Pool song.
How does Rise Up go? That's absolutely, that one side, you know, new metal, pretty much it was dead and buried at that point. Let it roll by divide the day and then know your enemy by green day, which makes me want to hit my head again. or something sharp. Yeah, you quite famously think that Green Day's best album is International Soup Bits. International Soup Bits! They've got all the best ones before they made American Idiot, which is...
grab it. Do you want to go see a musical based on it? No thanks. But yeah, they do the toilets and then drowning pool and the crowd don't know all the words, but they know one, nothing wrong with me, two, nothing wrong with me, three, nothing wrong with me. It was so great to see all the crowd.
I wanted to be there. I know. Like, obviously, there are points when you watch wrestling, like, oh, I wish I was there in this crowd to watch this match in this moment. That, this was uniquely... like enticing because I wanted to be there to be drunk cheering on and singing on so much fun Brian Alvarez said it in his Wrestling Observer review he said Please everyone try and go and see one of these matches live. If you're a Racine fan, there are no
There's nothing better. I was like, we had a stadium stampede in Wembley. But it wasn't this thing. It was nowhere near as good as this. It was not this. That was just, I really have nothing to say about that match. But I have something to say about previous Anarchy in the Arena matches. And this one, I will remember forever and ever. This, I think, will feature in the best matches of the year come the end of the I End A Year podcast because It was... So much fun from start to end.
It was mad. It was bonkers. It was just. massive spot a massive spot a massive spot a massive spot and I have seen you know looking at the comments People complaining about this or criticizing it is like, it's just spots for the sake of spots. And I wanted to write, yes, but that is the point of the match is to just do crazy anarchy in the arena. If you're looking for really grounded psychological storytelling,
Don't worry. It's in the next match. It's two matches away. This isn't, this is not, wrestling is a smorgasbord of different things. And for this thing, which is, Anarchy. Absolute subverting chaos. This is the best execution of that idea. We'll just sort of go through bits. Let the bodies hit the floor. Bodies hit the floor. Yous got thrown off an entrance tunnel. Kenny did a moonsault off the top of it. I really enjoyed watching them.
wrestle each other or at least fight while they were waiting for the cue of that bit to come so you know when it comes next they played the song about three like four or five times I think their drowning poor song before yeah before claudio casting nollie grabs well strickland and does this actual giant swing he was going so fast and he just
F'd him into the speaker system to cut the music off. Yeah, there's another angle of that apparently filmed by Serpentico from like right next to it and it's so cool. Marina gets a frying pan at some point. Why have I written that down? That's the least important thing in this. Willow Nightingale's earring gets padlocked to the ring post. And for some reason... Mark Briscoe's blood and the dive off the table and the awkward senton landing that I think Jackson had. That was the most viscerally...
uncomfortable thing to see. The crowd are even chanting, please help Willow at one point. Then the heels start to get on top. Before you get into that, can I try and, you know, if you haven't seen this match, I want you to close your eyes and try and visualise what I'm going to say. So Kenny Omega is, by his midsection, is over the top rope. So he's bouncing on the top rope, right, via his midsection.
Nick Jackson then does a double foot stomp off the top rope onto Kenny Omega, which makes him flip to the outside where he gets caught by Matt Jackson doing a sit-out powerbomb through a table. Hey, they're just spots, but listen to that. What a spot! What a spot! Sometimes you just want things to go bang bang. Oh, and it went bang bang later on. So there's so many bits. Swerve out of nowhere is with Nana on a forklift and he jumps off the top of the forklift, does a double stomp on the bucks
So goofy because the bucks just had to freeze. Um, Nana unlocks Willow off of that. Uh, There's a staple gun and Swerve uses it on everyone. Bang, bang, bang, bang. Really half-arsely in a way. It was brilliant. This is nothing to me. And then Marina staples Swerve's tongue. well I know wrestling I know you don't actually staple the tongue but nice little bit of inventiveness at the end of the match Swerve sticks out his tongue and there is a staple right down the centre
Gross. In the best way possible. Moxley takes out Willow Nightingale, which justifies Kenny hitting Marina with a Snapdragon to a huge pop. Everyone's hitting finishes in the ring. Superkick party. Even Rick Knox gets super kicked by the Bucks. He's doing the TK driver to Willow, but Swerve makes the save, so he and Willow then do a TK driver to Matt Jackson. Hook, this is when Hook comes out, and he just hits one move and walks out. And I don't know, did Joe look?
upset with him? Hook looked upset about it. Yeah, it seemed like I'm no longer, I'm annoyed with you guys, the ops, because you replaced me with Hobbs. But the commentary didn't talk about that at all. I don't know if I'm reading too much into that. Well, that's what I read. And yeah, it felt weird that the commentary didn't talk about it, but I guess that's something we can address on TV. But I thought it was weird.
Gabe Kidd runs in to stop Joe winning. They fill Kenny's mouth with thumbtacks. The heels have the numbers advantage. I'm like, Eddie's gonna come out now. But it's Mark Briscoe still covered in blood. Well, because he was covered in blood, I didn't think it was Eddie Kingston. normal Sunday night for Eddie Kingston. Yeah, he's just returning from the last Eddie Kingston. And they're all brawling by the ambulance.
All the faces shove the heels into the ambulance and lock it. So the Bucks are in the ring. Omega and Swerve. Swerve gets his thumbtacks and hits a stomp with his trainers on Omega One-Winged Angel on that through an exploding table. Yeah, a One-Winged Angel off the stage through a table that had explosives on it. it's like that there's like a joke in Family Guy where a horse falls off the side of a building or like off the edge of a cliff.
and it doesn't explode, but a horse is next to it, and the horse explodes instead. There's no reason for this table to explode. Well, they did say, oh, it went through all the electrics. All right. What were they doing there? But I don't care because it's so much fun. And even though there was no Eddie, Swerve got the pinfall win. Yeah. Perfect. Yeah. Absolutely perfect, perfect anarchy match. I loved it.
beautifully sets up i mean i don't know when we're going to get the match though but like they were you know pairing people off in this match so you're getting the ops and the death riders and a match they are clearly building to is swerve and omega teaming up to take on the bar So I don't know when we're going to get that because it's probably not going to be at all in because it's going to be Omega Arcada there.
Apparently, tickets sales for it aren't great at the moment. They think they might be able to get up to like 35. That's still really good. Which is really good, but apparently it's been quite slow. They had like a really hot start, but it's then cooled off, which I think is to be expected because they've not announced any match. I think now that we've announced some matches, I'm hoping to see some influx of technology.
As soon as they confirm it's a Card versus Omega, you've got to think. A large portion of 2017 to 2020 fans will wake up. And then after that, we got Paragon versus the callous family of Josh Alexander Sikashtar and... Carl Fletcher. You coward, Will Ospreay. You said you were going to follow Anarchy in the arena, but Adam Cole had the balls to do it instead. Carl Fletcher, with his pink jacket and entrance attire, looks like an actual penis.
Did you get that? Metaphorically or literally? No, literally. Okay, yeah. I've always thought Don Callis has taken on quite a penis shape. Am I? Is that on me? Are they leaning into the dicks? No, I think it's maybe a bit Freudian blowjob, have you? But this was a good match, is the problem. Roderick Strong is amazing. Kyle's awesome. Yeah, Kyle's great. Where is the backbreaker going to come from? And who was it?
where was it i think it was josh alexander he just ran outside and strong sort of hit a blue thunder backbreaker bomb on the barricade yeah that's great um but yeah uh Fletcher had a brain buster on Carl to win. Yeah, I actually hit him with a forearm as well when he was in that position. And then Roppongi Vice, so Lance Archer got into the ring afterwards, and Roppongi Vice run down because they're part of the Calus family, so all the baddies are beating up the good guys.
And then Brody King, and I was expecting Buddy Matthews, but it turns out he's become Tomohiro Ishii, and he came out instead. And then... It's not Forbidden Door season, yeah, but Hiroshi Tanahashi's here, so... Send him out, Ace! That's how Ace goes. He can do a move and can point everyone and go like, Hey, I'm here! Yeah, one sling blade. Hey! I thought he had his final match in the US. Well, this isn't a match, this wasn't running. But it feels like it's building to a match.
Or this one's just, hey, you're here. Do you want to run out and hit a sling blade? This is such an AEW thing to do where we have booked a down bet between the really hot match and the main event. What should we do? Legend. Like it was Sting at All In, do you remember? Yeah, that's right. Hey, by the way, Sting's here. At least that one made sense. Anyway, I think I wouldn't have had this match on the pay-per-view.
Well, yeah, it's here to build because it'll likely be Fletcher versus Cole for the TNT Championship at all and do it on TV. I thought this was an extraordinary show with just I can't think of a... There's not even a slightly above average match on here. They are all... great to some of the best work you've ever seen.
It's all killer, no fair. I have seen people favorably compare this to All Out 2021 in terms of just like, you know, an all-timer show from AEW and I would agree. Last note, I just wanted to point out because I don't want you to have an aneurysm. here on Monday the 26th but coming soon there is going to be an episode of Dynamite that is Four hours long. I saw that. They did say that. There is going to be a four hour special edition of AEW Dynamite coming soon. Why?
you know TBS like them and they do pull in ratings It's a paper year, essentially. So, before we get into... Well, actually, I... Did you give it a score overall? I don't give scores because people don't then listen to the reviews. They just listen to the number you've got and then make their judgment based upon the number that you've given as opposed to the words that you wrote. I mean, I...
I've got to give it a sort of, I've got to give it a five out of five. I would have given it, yeah. If I was in those days, I certainly would have given it a five out of five, which people would have taken the wrong. So I'm glad I did. before we get into our remaining omega chats of course uh your vote results please vote for what you thought of the show i'd say a big thank you to our wonderful pledge hammers on patreon without the pledge hammers AEW wouldn't be...
in any way sustainable. So thank you, Pledgehammers. You make this show possible. Like the British Bulldog, Philip Boy J. Smith Jr. Yo, Adrian. Rocky. He can last Sean for longer. the new in the ring starbucks steven costa shield maiden the zornis early rob burwell let him cook alex a pock alex now the swiss submission machine andreas fuglistalla You can look, but you can't touch Bala Pearson. I'm afraid he's got some bad news.
It's bad news, Bob the Ninja Goldfish. And lastly for this Hall of Fame class, on Monday the 26th of May 2025, always leave the crowd wanting Brian Moore. Thank you very much. Patreon.com forward slash WrestleTalk to support us and get loads of exclusive content. And we've got a result for the question, was Hangman the right winner? Yes. 85%. He was the right guy. He was the righter choice.
Nick Corvallo writes, In regards to Hangman Osprey, it was the most 50-50 match they'd had in my opinion, and almost felt like Khan booked himself into a corner. Both had equal justification to win. So happy for Hangman. Now that match has to be a Texas death match. Run it back. I've gone to 5 or 6. The winner has been picked out for a while, but they were really keeping it close to their chest because I think they wanted this to get leaked out online of what the main event plan is for All In.
So they were really protecting this one and I think that's worked in its favor. I don't think it's booking yourself into a corner, by the way, if you book two people incredibly strongly and the result could go in either way. Yeah. That's great booking. It's not Fiend Robin's Hell in a Cell.
Mayor of Painesville, Dan, writes, Hello, Luke. Hello, Ollie. Hope you're doing well. What a match. What an instant classic. Sons of Texas versus Hutz. Is that what he's calling the instant classic? Yeah, because Dustin Rhodes, of course. Sons of Texas vs Hurt Syndicate was really awesome, minus the occasional wrong camera cut. I hope Dustin gets a rematch at All In to win it.
I think you'll be in an eight-man... I predict an eight-man tag at All In Texas with Dustin, Sammy, and the Von Eriks taking on the Hurt Syndicate with Cedric. Oh, muy bien, baby. Kenneth Jones writes, I hope we see more dust in matches and promos. His Michael Scott-isms killed me. It was an unforgettable day no one will ever forget. We're one day guys. We fight with heart, honour. fire, passion, soul, heart. Our work ethic can be, you can't touch it.
that's how my my kids goes because you know she's like learning listing things so she will like look at a photo and she'll be like that is mommy and daddy and isabel and mommy and daddy and she will just like often just like repeat herself because she's learning how to list things but doesn't realize she's got to the end of the list. That is sometimes what Dustin Rose does with his heart, fire, passion, soul, and heart and soul.
You want to write it down? Nah. I'm a pro. I don't know what to say when I'm out there. I've been doing this for 50 years. Misha Sumer writes, Regarding the assemble moment in the all-in main event, my pitch is twofold. Number one, as a mark of respect, Will plays on his relationship with Swerve, brokers the peace with Hangman. Or two, the final interference blocker,
will be a returning Eddie Kingston. I mean... Doesn't really fit in this story, though. Yeah, I don't think... Yeah, I mean... I guess Moxie's friends with Mox. Yeah. Yeah, that's the connection, isn't it? But that feels like a Mox thing, not a Hangman thing. But it can be, you know, of Eddie. You can then spin it off into an Eddie and Mox feud of you've gone the wrong path. Yeah, siding with Gabe Kidd, the man who injured you. Welcome to Rome, number one. Anarchy.
I think AITA, Anarchy in the Arena, is also shorthand for Am I the Asshole? Oh, on Reddit. On Reddit. So I keep, everyone's writing AITA. Yeah. And my brain is thinking ass. Well, just read that. Assholes. Am I the asshole was so much fun and was for the sickos. Number two. Bringing Tamahashi down, laying seeds for Will getting his title in London. That would mean he has to beat Hangman like two months into his reign. Yeah. Or maybe he wins the IWGP Championship.
Number three, the benched talent isn't unique. WWE, AEW, TNA all do it because rosters are too bloated. And number four, glad you came back to AEW, jam that jam. Thank you, Rome. Nick Corvello. Anarchy in the arena music is a cool tradition for the match, but I get tired of the same song over and over again. Khan needs to make a Spotify playlist every year for the match, either a master list or an annual list.
based on fans' votes and trends. I was going to say, if it's based on trends, it would have been espresso. I mean, it would have been pretty wicked with Hot To Go, I guess, last year. And all those would have been more expensive. Yeah, but you know, can't spend the money if he thinks it's worth it. If you're at a wedding, you do not want the crowd to have access to the playlist.
I disagree. I disagree. I actually think that we had it for our wedding where everyone got to give songs basically in advance. Oh, I see what you're saying. Not on the night. Lucy's going to stay up there singing Teenage Dirtbag over and over again. My mum's having a big party because it's their 50th wedding anniversary this year. and she was asking because my kids like she's starting to really like have favorite songs songs that she sings along to in the
She was like, I want to have some songs for the kid to dance. Drown in Paul. And she was like, what? She was like, so what songs did she bring in? So I was like, well, okay. So Don't Look Back in Angled by Oasis. That's like one of her favorite songs. She loves to sing. and Chapel Rowan's hot to go. Don't judge me as a parent that she really likes. And she will say, can I have H-O-T-T-O-G?
Oh, that's impressive to say those letters so far. She's learning to spell. I think it's educational in a way. If I'm TK, though, and I'm being completely serious when I say this, if you're going to spend some money... license Pink Pony Club by Chapel Rowan for the Hangman Page video before he comes out for his ma-
Have you seen this video? Oh man, I'll have to show it to you. Tempest showed it to me. Someone did a fan video that's like the story of Hangman Page, and it's set to this live version that Trevor Rowan did of Pink Pony. And it is beautiful. And so I think that Tony Khan should invest the money in doing that. I'm thinking, don't be a coward. I'm so excited. And finally for now, Rafael Garcia writes, a stupendous show all around that now leaves so many questions
Will we get women's tag belts? We should. What do we do with the TBS title? And most importantly, How much did they pay you to use your playlist, Luco, in The Father? We want to know. If they used my playlist, there would have been more new metal featured in there. It wouldn't have just been Drowning Pool. I'd have probably had Sinner in there as well, because that's also a great Drowning Pool song. that new disease by Spineshank would have come now.
I had a feeling that there was going to be a big track that I was going to love because the first thing i woke up to was angela from hobby night texting me saying like oh you're gonna love the music choice so i actually spent the whole thing being like they're gonna play break stuff They're headlining radding.
They're one of the sub-headliners. I did look to see if I can get a ticket, but it was like 150 quid for a day, and that's too expensive. Right, well, that's all we've got time for today. Let's check the poll results. Indeed. I am actually pretty shocked by this. 88% thumbs up.
As in? I thought I'd be way higher. Way higher than 88%? Yeah. That's really high. Yeah, but we get this for like average episodes of Monday Night Raw will get 88%. What's in the middle? Is there an in the middle? 8% in the middle. Oh, okay. So it's like 96% thought it was. Good or above. No, 88% thought it was good and 8% thought it was in the middle. Totally fine. Well, it was locked.
