¶ Welcome & Two What's Intro
Hey, grown-ups! Happy Dino Day! It's me, Mindy. And before we start the show, did you know that scientists actually don't know what color dinosaurs were? Yeah! Scientists make educated guesses based on fossilized feathers or skin impressions, but no one... is 100% certain what colors dinosaurs actually were when they roamed the Earth 66 million years ago.
So, when we made our own Wow in the World dinosaur toys, Guy Raz and I added a little pop of color to make those dinos really roar. Yep, that's why the Wow in the World Jumbo T-Rex... dinosaur is neon blue and purple and the baby brontosaurus in our baby dino bucket is bright orange and pink to discover even more wows about dinosaurs for the dino fans in your world Visit Amazon.com slash Wondery Kids to shop all of our colorful dinosaur toys and more coming soon.
Plus, don't forget to pre-order our newest book, Dinosaurs Are Wow. A roaring thunder of... historic wonder coming to a bookshelf near you this October. Pre-order today wherever you get your books. Just search dinosaurs are wow at your favorite retailer. That's it. And now let's get back to the show. And now for everyone's second favorite game show after... putting a blanket over your head and telling everyone you're invisible, it's Two What's End of Life!
And the category or theme for today is bees. Mindy, why don't you refresh our contestants on how the game works? You know it, Guy Raz. Wowzers, in each of our three rounds today, Guy Raz and I will present you with three scientific statements about bees. But, and this is a big but. Only one of those statements will be a true wow. The other two, just a couple of made out what? Now, in each round, if you guess correctly, congratulations, you win a point. But if you guess...
correctly, you must stop, drop, and do a ridonkulous physical challenge. Okay, everyone ready to get this show going? Great, then let's get to it. Round one.
¶ Round 1: Tasting With Feet
Which of the following statements is a true scientific wow? Is it A. Some bees have six wings. Or is it B. Bees make a buzzing sound that comes from their backside. Or is it C? Bees can taste with their feet. When you think you have the correct answer, make a buzzing sound of your own. Uh, Reggie? Can we get some thinking music? is up let's now reveal the winning wow and to do just that it's Evie from Ontario Evie tell us what's the winning wow
Contestants, if you guessed the answer C, that bees can taste with their feet, well, congratulations, you found the winning wow. Honeybees have teeny tiny hair-like sensors called cincilla on their mouths, antennas. Scientists call the end of bee legs tarsi, and bees use the taste buds on their tarsi to decide whether or not something is worth feeding on. Isn't that cool? I can hold my fork with this.
Not the same thing, but good to know, maybe. Now, if you did not get that answer correct, you must stop, drop, and try to peel a banana with your feet.
¶ Round 2: Discovering Blue Bees
Okay, round two. Which of the following statements is a true scientific wow? Is it A, some bees are blue? Or is it B, some bee species are... Totally hairless. Or is it C? All bees are nocturnal. Lots to think about here. Well... When you think you have the correct answer, find a flower and sit on it. And joining us by phone, it's Leo from Florida with our winning wow.
So, Wowzers, if you guessed A, that some bees are blue, well, congratulations, you found the winning wow. Some bees have special scales that reflect light to make them appear blue. Kind of like a peacock's feathers. And it's not just a single species. There are several different kinds of blue bees in different places around the world. Like a blue carpenter bee, a blue sweat bee, and the blue orchard mason bee.
Now, if you did not get that answer correct, you must stop, drop, and sing a blues song. And now it's time. to take a moment to thank our sponsors. Today's show is brought to you in part by carpenter bees. Carpenter bees are often confused with bumblebees because they look a lot alike. but you can tell them apart from regular bumblebees because they wear little tool belts with little teeny tiny hammers. Actually, that's not true at all. They have a shinier belly than regular bees, but...
Even though they're named after people who work with wood, carpenter bees don't actually build anything. They just make these weird little holes in wooden structures so they can build nests. Plus side, only female carpenter bees can actually sting, and they rarely do. They're more interested in chewing through wood. All right. Thank you, carpenter bees.

¶ Round 3: The Buzz About Bee Eyes
Welcome back to Two What's and a Wow. Two What's and a Wow. The scientific game show that separates the wows from the what's. And now. We're on to our final round of questions, round three. Which of the following statements is a true scientific wow? Is it A, female bees have bigger antenna than male bees? Or is it B? Worker bees have a union called Pollinators Local 101. Or is it C? Bees have five eyes. Take a second to think this over, and when you think you have the correct answer...
Use your fingers to make little antennas on your head. is up. And joining us by phone with the answer, it's Amiria from Illinois. Amiria, please tell us the winning wow. job, Amiria. Wowzers, if you guessed C, that bees have five eyes, well, congratulations, you found the winning wow. It's true. Bees do have five
two big ones on the sides of their head, and three small eyes up on top. The two big eyes are called compound eyes and have multiple lenses that are used for seeing shapes and colors and finding their way home. The three little eyes are called ocelli, and bees use them to help navigate and stay right side up while they're flying. Now, if you did not get that answer correct, you must stop...
Drop and try to find a flower with your eyes closed. What was that? Oh, Guy Raz, that sound can mean only one thing. Tell me you didn't bring an actual... beehive into the studio. What? Of course I didn't bring an actual beehive into the studio, Guy Raz. Oh, good. All of our contestants will receive their very own personal... You can't shoot beehives into the audience. I know, Guy Raz, but I can shoot honey 100% off...
Fresh off the comb, honey. Just for you. Reggie, cue the prize cannon. Oh boy.
