Episode description

An update for you on the Working Class History podcast and its future.
In short, we began releasing much more frequent podcast episodes 18 months ago, in an effort to get more supporters on Patreon. While we were able to grow our support, it has not been sufficient to cover our increased costs, and we have now run out of episodes. So we will be taking an end of season break, to work on new episodes to release in the New Year.
Patreon is how listeners like you make our work possible, and enables us to cover the cost of making the podcast. Some series we work on take several years, hundreds of hours of work, and cost thousands of dollars, not to mention all of our other costs. Learn more and join us at https://patreon.com/workingclasshistory
The price of our exclusive content on Patreon hasn't gone up since 2020, whereas inflation has gone up by 25% and costs have gone up even more.
So in the New Year we are going to have to increase the cost of our Patreon benefits to new members. However, if you join us on Patreon before then, you will be able to permanently lock in the 2020 price of $5 per month (or even cheaper if you subscribe annually). So please join us today to access great benefits like early access to all episodes without ads, and access to our exclusive bonus episodes every month.
In 2026, the cost of a subscription to new members will increase to $6 per month, so don't delay, join us today to support the dissemination of people's history, at this time of attacks on the genuine teaching of factual history around the world.

Speaker 1

Hi there, We've got a little bit of an update for you on the Working Class History podcast and its future. So last year, on a trial basis, we began producing and releasing much more frequent podcast episodes, and so we release new episodes either publicly or on our Patreon every week. Patreon is how listeners like you make our work possible and enables us to cover the cost of making the podcast and doing order the rest of our historical research

and outreach. Some podcast series that we work on take several years, hundreds of hours of work and cost thousands of dollars, not to mention the costs of our web services, research materials, and more. We're only able to devote the time and resources it takes to make this podcast because

of support from you, our listeners. So last year we also started releasing at least one exclusive bonus episode on Patreon every month at patreon dot com slash working Class History link in the show notes, started two new discussion podcast series, Fireside Chats and Radical Reads, just for our

Patreon supporters. Our hope was that by releasing more episodes on Patreon, that would enable us to get more supporters and raise funds to enable us to make more regular episodes which were free for everyone, as well as produce more of our written content which is also available free

for all. And we're very grateful to you because we have been able to grow our number of supporters on Patreon and produce much more regular podcast episodes which are available free to everyone, in addition to our more regular bonus episodes. Now, as I said, initially, we were doing this on a trial basis, but we've actually managed to keep up with weekly releases for a year and a half at this point, which is a lot longer than

we thought we'd be able to go on. However, we've not been able to grow our support enough to do more than this, especially given inflation and increases in our costs over the years, so we've finally got to the end of the episodes we've managed to fund and prepare in this time. So now we're going to be taking a little end of season break from the regular weekly episodes. We'll be returning with a new season of free episodes

in the new year. In the meantime, we will be continuing with our release of bonus episodes for our Patroon supporters every month. So with inflation and our costs access to our exclusive content on Patreon has been the same price for over five years now. Meanwhile, inflation and prices in general have gone up by twenty five percent, and

our costs have gone up by even more than that. Therefore, we won't be able to keep making these episodes at the same rate without increasing the cost for new supporters. But we will be keeping the cost of accessing all of our exclusive content on Patreon to five dollars per month with a discount if you subscribe annually until the

end of twenty twenty five. For everyone who joins us before then, your price will be permanently locked in at the five dollar level, But from the beginning of twenty twenty six U six, we're going to have to increase it for new members to six dollars a month, although

still with the discount if you subscribe annually. So if you want to lock in the low price from pre covid days back in twenty twenty when prices were much lower, please do join us today, support our work and access loads of great content and benefits, including early access to all episodes with our ads, access to our back catalog, and access to our exclusive bonus episodes. Every month. Learn more and sign up at patreon dot com slash working

class History link in the show notes. We have loved being able to release new episodes for you every week, and we would love to be able to get back to doing that in the new year. So if you want to be able to get more frequent episodes, please do join us today on Patreon again. That's patreon dot com slash working class History link in the show notes. In the meantime, we wishoot all the best for the

end of the year. Over the break, we're going to continue working on a whole bunch of exciting new episodes and miniseries to release for you next year, so we hope you compare with us during this time. If you haven't listened to all of our old episodes yet, why not take this time to go back and give our earlier ones a listen. There is a lot of good stuff in there. To all of our listeners. Thank you so much for listening to our podcast over the last few years. We hope to be back in your ears

really soon with new content. All the best and catch you next time.
