Episode description

In this week’s episode of Women Influencers, I spoke with Elise Russell, founder of the motivational lifestyle brand Pony Friday. She is a quick-witted speaker, copywriter and creative director, known for her award-winning work, bright ideas, attention to detail and sass.

We discussed how she grew up as the middle child in her family of Home Builders in Alberta, Canada. Although pursuing a career in the arts was a different path than most in her town, she had support from her family. She lived with her Grandpa for 2 years while she was in college, which allowed her to afford her college education.

After realizing being a starving artist might not be for her, she switched to business and eventually went to Ad school. Despite having 6 years of post secondary education, Elise doesn’t have a formal degree. It hasn’t been an impediment, though, clearly, as her business has been running for 12 years.

We discussed the challenge of running a branding business through the pandemic when so many small businesses were facing hardships, the influence raising your hand and stepping up has on your community, and the advice we tell ourselves when things aren’t going our way.
