Good morning, peeps, and welcome to Okay f Daily with me your girl Danielle Moody, recording back live from our podstream studios in Times Square. Folks, I cannot stress this enough and you are going to hear me talk about the COVID nineteen crisis, man made crisis now that this country is in. Until we're done, until the ninety three million Americans that have not yet been vaccinated that are

eligible for vaccination get fucking vaccinated. Here's the thing. What we are seeing is an uptick everywhere in all fifty states, but Florida has become the epicenter for the COVID nineteen vaccine. And what I want to read to you guys from Routers right now is that what I said and what Jonathan has been telling us, is that the longer that the delta variant stays in the air right, the longer that it is in our atmosphere, the likelihood of it

mutating again upon itself becomes higher. So in this article that came out yesterday, it says this for Routers and because folks, there is another variant on top of the delta variant that is now surging in Peru where it was first found and in South America. Let me read this to you. The lambda variant of the coronavirus, first identified in Peru and now spreading in South America is highly infectious and more resistant to vaccines than the original

version of the virus that emerged from Wuhan, China. Japanese researchers have found in a laboratory experiment, they found that three mutations in the lambda spikes protein. I'm not going to ramble them off to you because they won't matter, but help it resist neutralization by vaccine induced antibodies. Two additional mutations T seven sixty one and L four five tq helped make landa highly infectious they found. So here

is the thing. The World Health Organization has said this, folks, in a paper posted on Wednesday bio rxiv ahead of peer review. The research has warned that the lambda being labeled a quote variant of interest by the World Health Organization rather than a quote variant of concern, people might not realize that it is a serious ongoing threat. So, folks, what I said yesterday, last week and the weeks before

about where we were headed. Why I have this cold pit in my stomach about the direction that this country is headed with this virus is problematic and everyone should be alarmed, even those that are vaccinated, because right now, with the variants that we are dealing with, the vaccines

are holding. Yes, there are breakthrough cases, but they're like zero point zero one percent one in thirteen hundred people that are vaccinated, there will be a breakthrough, right, meaning that you will have symptoms, can have symptoms, can get sick. I've said that I have three friends who have had breakthrough infections and they were vaccinated right with one of them being quite sick, right, like a deep, deep flu. But thank god he's still here, did not die, did

not need to go into hospital. Why because he was vaccinated. The fact is this lambda is moving. It is on the move in South America. It will not take long for it to arrive in other countries, namely in the United States. Why because all you have to do is have one person get on a fucking plane to come here, right or drive up in a car or in a train, or on a fucking boat and arrive here with that virus.

And what doctor Jonathan Metzel says in the interview that we do today is that the delta variant is eight times infections is the rate, right, meaning this that with the alpha variant, if somebody was infected with that the original, they could spread it to up to two three people. With the delta variant, one person being infected can spread

it to eight people. Right. This virus is so incredibly fucking contagious that now we're before the alpha variant, you needed to be in a room with somebody for ten minutes, fifteen minutes, or what have you. We're talking about five second transmission rates. And now we are looking at a variant of concern which will turn into an absolute fucking problem. Because again, it was just a couple of weeks ago that we're like, oh, there's this new variant, the delta,

and it was discovered in some far off place. Oh well, we'll just keep an eye out for it, and boom, within a few weeks it was in the United States. So there will only be a few more weeks before the lambda variant is here as well. Folks, if you are not fucking vaccinated, get fucking vaccinated, right and go back to wearing masks indoors, And if you cannot eat indoors, don't right eat outside. We still have a month or

so left of summer. I'm going to switch years now, folks, because I again, I just feel like in so many ways that we are just headed in the wrong direction. And I'm really becoming so concerned about the state of our politics, the state of our democracy, just the state

of our compassion. You know, I've been talking about Representative Corey Bush, who has been camped out in front of the Capitol, trying to raise awareness and bring concern to the fact that millions of Americans, seven to ten million Americans are in jeopardy of losing their homes because the

moratorium on evictions was allowed to expire. And members of Congress you know, just went home on holiday for the next several weeks, so they have a home to go back to, but millions of Americans are wondering whether or not they will have a home to go back to. Right we are seeing that this virus, this pandemic, has created pandemics. On top of pandemics, economic instability, where people were already housing insecure and food insecure, has now been

blown off the charts. And what a member of Congress who another member of Congress, one of my favorites, that joined Representative Corey Bush. On the steps of the Capitol was Ianna Presley and she said this, and I really I want to sit with it for a moment. She said, there is not a deficit of resources. There is a deficit of empathy. And when she said it, it really hit me directly in my heart because it is one

hundred percent the truth. We have enough money, right, We're taxed up the wazoo, the middle class, lower income people,

surely not the fucking rich. Right, because there was an article that is so disgusting that was either in Vanity Fair or The New Yorker where people that are out east in the Hamptons are complaining the rich are complaining about the uber rich that they are destroying the Hamptons because you know, everything is now priced out of control because thanks to Trump's tax cuts, these people have even

more money to piss away. Right that there are is fifty dollars bills just kind of floating on the beaches there, right, because that's how much money people have to waste. You see that we have enough money and enough resources to be able to help all of those people that need help,

but we don't have the fucking political will. We don't have empathy because while we live in a country that celebrates applot fucking individual ego dick measuring competitions into space of the uber wealthy, we do nothing to help the least among us. That's your problem, right. We're looking at and influx in quote unquote crime and they're saying, well, we need more cops. When has more cops ever helped any goddamn thing go to the safest neighborhoods in this country?

Tell me how many cops you see on the street. We are reinforcing everything that is bad by not going to the core, which is fucking greed, right, Greed and power is going to be what destroys not only this country, but the planet. Fires are raging, Flooding is happening, pandemic is raging, People are losing their homes, lining up for

food pantries. We're gonna be wondering soon enough when we go to the grocery store, white tomatoes and cucumbers and lettuces and milk are going to be off the charts and prices because you see, folks, we don't take care of the fucking environment that we live in. How do you think that you're going to be able to get your goods. How do you that you're going to be able to fill up your refrigerator if in fact you still have a fucking home. Farmers need to know when

they can plant, right. They need to know that the nutrients that they're giving to their livestock aren't contaminated, and that there's enough those things are. It's all part of the larger ecosystem that we're not paying attention to at all, and instead we're listening to these blowhard politicians that want to tell us that, oh, climate change doesn't exist or

that this is a normal occurrence. How many times do you have to hear historic fucking numbers, whether it be in temperatures or pollution or particles that are in the air every single goddamn week for folks to recognize, oh, this is really going to start to affect our food chain and where we're able to get those goods and services from. And now, if we can't get that from the farmers right and the growers here in the United States,

then where do we go. We go everywhere abroad, which then allows for there to be more pollution because that ship has to be brought in on trucks and on planes and on ships that we refuse to regulate their emissions. It is a perfect storm that is brewing right now that doesn't have to happen, but we have no will. So Aana Presley is one hundred percent right, the congresswoman is one hundred percent right. There is not a deficit

of resources. It's not that we don't have enough. It's that we decide to allocate it only to the wealthy, right, because we believe that everyone else is undeserving, that if you happen to be poor, that is your problem, as opposed to the systems that were put in place for you to stay that way. I don't understand why it is so difficult for everyone to connect the dots, or is it difficult or it's just a performance of ignorance at its highest level right now, is what we are seeing.

These people are telling us, oh, no, send your kids back to school and do so unmasked, and teachers unions are saying, no, we're not going to wear a mask, and we're not going to do this, and we're not going to do that. Apparently, we want the freedom and the liberty to die and to bring as many people

down with us as possible. We want the freedom and the liberty to be able to drive our big trucks, emit as much carbon dioxide, admit as much pollutants into the air as possible, right, so that then we get to a place where what we're selling air. It's so fucking wild to be living in a sci fi novel that is unfolding every single day and everyone just kind of walking around and doing the same shit that they've

been doing and hoping for a different result. I feel like the entire globe is insane right now, and we have some of the worst political leaders our in power that have these bully pulpits like the de Santisis and the Abbots that just continue continue to spread misinformation and fucking bullshit, not just about a rigged election, but about apparently a rigged pandemic as well. It's just something that

we've all made up, you know. I just I don't know how we move out of this space because the corrosive nature of these lies has spread to the core of who we are. It is become an identity for people right to be an anti vaxer, to be an anti masker, is become a core of who they are. And when people dig down that deep being able to change their mind or even open their eyes up to an alternative not alternative facts, right, but the truth. We have weaponized truth, so you don't know who to believe

because everybody has an alternative goal. Coming up next, friends, is our good friend, our in house doctor, doctor Jonathan Metzel, to give us the rundown on the latest with COVID nineteen, the delta variant, and what we need to be paying

attention to folks. I am always so happy when we have the opportunity to have our friend, our in house doctor, doctor Jonathan Metzel with us to walk us through the twisty, windy road of COVID nineteen, which, thank God, Jonathan, for you over the past year and a half, because I

don't know how we would be navigating through. I want to talk about a couple of things, because, first of all, I want to say that I believe that the mainstream media has done doctors, scientists, health workers a complete and total disservice by running with this narrative that we were post COVID for the last couple of months and now only making the pivot as things start to get really bad.

The United States has hit thirty five million new cases of COVID nineteen, with the concentration of that being in Texas, in Florida, and in California, Florida being the world's epicenter right now for COVID nineteen, the Delta variant, And now the media is making their pivot and saying, oh, well, you know, I guess that it's not done, and now going back to bringing their experts and their doctors back on.

What do you think about the way this resurgence is being covered, What do you think about it and the way in which the CDC has been completely and totally politicized by the right. Well, you know, it's funny because I don't know what the media is anymore, right, the whole idea that, I mean, in a world other than our own, like prior worlds, like you know, of this country, there was an authoritative media that people turn to to

get health information. But now it's kind of like you can listen to any media that just supports your position. So there is no such thing as the media. I mean there is, but obviously, but so part of the issue is, you know, so I don't know, I mean, I just like I just couldn't see a media narrative stronger than get vaccinated. And even then half the people don't agree with it. And so certainly there's been a lot of up and down. And as you and I talked about last week, part of the up and down

is just that the media. It's the media is not just causal, right, they're reflective. They're reflecting a shifting terrain, right. And I think initially, you know, it was human nature, like we had what was called the alpha variant before, a slow moving relatively we didn't realize coronavirus. The vaccines were treating it. You thought, we thought that the vaccines the key thing, and we talked about this last week. We didn't know that people vaccinated could actually pass on

the virus. But now we're finding out that with the delta variant, it's just basically the mutation from hell. It really is, and and so, and no disrespect to the other mutations of the coronavirus, but this one really is just terrible in every possible way. You catch it in five seconds. It hangs in the air, you know, you just get it in a flash. It's worse, it's got

a higher viral load. And so part of what we saw before was the media reflecting what was thought to be a general optimism that we were going to be able to reopen and stuff like that. And I don't blame them for anyone really for covering those stories, because that's kind of how we were all feeling like we needed a bit of hope and optimism. The problem is done. Things changed with the delta variant, and it's really just taken us conceptually. I mean, even me, I study this stuff,

I teach about it. It's taken me a couple months just to understand the enormity of this mutation. And I'm still coming to terms with it myself. So I would say that there's been a slow change, but that's also impacting scientists, it's impacting politicians, I guess overall. I mean, I saw today over seventy percent of Americans are at least, you know, over eighteen or haven't had at least one shot. You know. We wouldn't have thought that six months ago.

So there are things happening. But again, the shift for me is that this delta variant is just it's just such a curveball from everything else we thought we knew.
