Pandemic of the Unvaccinated

I'm just done. I'm done in general, right because every time that I open up the news, every time that I look, you know, at the papers, every time that I go into Twitter, it just feels like I'm just dripping, dripping in like sewage and acid and just toxicity. It's no wonder why people opt out of social media after a while. It's no wonder why there is like extreme burnout from the news and people are just like after

twenty twenty, they don't even want to turn on. But the reality is is that if you don't if you don't check in right, then you can't have a voice. Then you don't know what's going on. So here are some things that I want to bring to your attention

that are happening right now that just shouldn't be. And I'm going to continue to talk about COVID on this show, because we're still in a pandemic, and yet the majority of the country doesn't think so, except for the fact, folks that this week, the United States has more positive COVID cases than any other country in the world. How the fuck is that happening when we literally have more vaccines than every other country in the world. Do you

know why that is? Because we're the ones creating the vaccines. They're being created in the United States, and the federal government has purchased all of them, essentially so that every American can get their two shots and a booster. And yet we're still seeing reports, like I said yesterday, of hospitals having to close down emergency rooms. Of the Arkansas governor now after his fucking bullshit getting on the airwaves and telling people the hospitals are at capacity. Yeah, motherfucker.

What did you think was going to happen when you didn't have a mask mandate in place? What did you think was going to happen when you were telling folks that they shouldn't send their kids to schools with masking, telling school boards and city councils that they can't have mask mandates. And then you in these Red states have the lowest vaccination numbers because you all believe the Trump bullshit.

And you know what pisses me off even more is that when that fucking orange piece of shit had one of his hate rallies recently and he says, oh, you know you should, folks, you should get the vaccine, he was booed by his own fucking sycophants. That's how far

gone these people are. And so I continue to say, look, you don't want to get the vaccine, right, what ambulances should be asking, folks is and when they're headed to your house to go get you anti vaxer, to go bring you to the emergency room to ask the question were you vaccinated? Let me see your vaccin vaccination card. Oh you weren't vaccinated. Well, there is no room at the end for you, because what needs to start happening is that we are going to keep our beds in

this hospital for people in actual need. You didn't need the vaccine, you didn't need a mask. Well, guess what, you don't need a hospital bed either, because the same people that we're telling you to prevent your severe illness and death, who you didn't want to believe because you think that your Facebook and YouTube education is greater than their seven, eight, nine, ten years of schooling in the medical industry, then fucking google your way out of your symptoms.

Once you catch COVID, don't now flood into hospitals begging for help. Fuck you. And that's really what I want nurses and doctors and health administrators to start saying, being like, no, if you haven't been vaccinated, you don't get to come to the hospital for what for the imaginary hoax of medicine that we're going to be sticking into your arm that you don't know anything about, and it's microchips and this,

that and the other thing. Why do you believe in the hospital when you were on your deathbed, but you didn't believe in those same doctors when they were trying to save your life. I don't see why you should receive care. And people may say, oh my god, Danielle, that is so harsh. We don't want people to die, and I say, fuck them. You want to roll the dice, roll them. Our country just feels so fucked right now

that I don't really know how you unfuck it. Because let me tell you something, we should not be in a place where we are trying to hold hands with these people, we're, oh, you know, let's bring them over to our side. Fuck that for what if you weren't going to be able to convince these people after four years of living under Donald Trump, right, and now their messiah. They don't even listen to their messiah after he says that he's been vaccinated, right, and that they should get

vaccinated too. And as soon as they started to boo, this man just shriveled up like the fucking turd that he is. Okay, okay, okay, whatever it is that you want, Just still love me, Still give me money so that I can pay all of my lawyer fees for all of the court cases that are being waged against me because I'm a fucking criminal. And we continue to talk about these people as if like, oh, they know not what they do. Yes, they do. They know exactly what

they are doing. You know, right now you have de Satan and these other red state governors that are following in his footsteps with their big footing on municipalities and school districts for wanting to keep people safe. Thousands of children have already been infected with COVID nineteen. Many are going to die and are dying right now. And what is Joe Biden doing about it? Because I can recall that when Donald Trump was President of the United States,

he threatened blue states left and right. Oh, I'm not going to give you any funding unless you kiss my ass. I'm not gonna help you. I'm not gonna send FEMA, I'm not going to give you aid because I don't like you. Well, how about we turn around and use that same type of energy for the greater good, which is Hey Florida, Hey Texas, Hey Tennessee, Hey Arkansas, Mississippi, and the rest of y'all. If you do not roll back your anti mask mandates, you will not be receiving

any federal funding on anything. Why don't you start playing their fucking game and playing like you want to win, playing like you have some oomph behind you, because at the end of the day, they don't. Right, it's all handholding and stroking and playing to the bottom as opposed to playing to the top. It's all doing the middle of the road bullshit. And I'm telling you we are not living in times anymore of neutrality. Like I don't even like the fact that nalists are using the term

anti masker. Just call them pro death, Just say that they are the pro death party. They are pro death and pro COVID pro pandemic. That's it. Because you set it up as if there are some type of fucking debate, and there isn't a debate, and then you have these assholes that are getting on these social media platforms and talking about, well, the vaccine doesn't work because people are

still catching COVID. But guess what vaccines do work because the people that are catching COVID with breakthrough cases aren't dying and they aren't falling severely ill, and then they don't have to worry about the Russian roulette that we were playing in twenty twenty because they did what they needed to do in order to cover themselves and keep

themselves safe. I believe wholeheartedly that had Donald Trump never existed, we wouldn't ever be in this place right now in terms of this division around vaccines, in this division around the pandemic, that things could have been orderly, they could have been thoughtful, and that when the vaccines were rolled out it would have been a praise God's celebration across America because we made it finally but instead we have the highest numbers of any place in the world, and

yet we have the most vaccines. If that doesn't look like fucking global privilege, then I don't know what it is, because that's some Western privilege bullshit. Because there are people in other countries that are dying in the streets because they don't have the vaccine. They don't have the ability to get the vaccine. Meanwhile, you can get it at any fucking CBS and drug store across the country. And people are still flooding into hospitals, still filling up ICUs.

There are makeshift bed and tense being put up like it is twenty twenty, when we had nothing other than the mask and social distancing and washing your fucking hands to combat this virus. And now once you have something that says, look, we won't die going to the grocery store. Look, you can share a meal with a friend again. You

can move your life from outside of zoom. For these people that wanted to open up the economy so quickly, you would think that they would be the biggest propontus to get the vaccine, so we can go back to

buck to normal. But no, let us march through the Greek alphabet instead, because folks, while we want to roll our eyes at these people, and trust me, I do, the reality is is that the longer that this virus stays around, and this is what doctor Jonathan Metzel tells us every fucking week, and later on in the show, doctor Marcella Nunez Smith, the head of the White House COVID Task Force, will say once again that the longer that this virus stays in the air, the longer the

amount of time that it's given to continue to mutate on top of itself. And as Jonathan said yesterday, the virus is mutating thousands of times every minute, right waiting for that next silver bullet that works around all of the vaccines. And then we're truly fucked because we would have had an opportunity once vaccinations were rolling out at the beginning of the year to really squash this and

we didn't. And that's what we were in a race against time for, because scientists know how viruses work, and this one is an anomaly on a lot of fronts, but they know the more virus, the more likely it mutates, and our inability to catch the mutation before it is now completely in total, making the vaccines that we do have ineffective. I don't want to get to that place. And I know that you folks listening to this short

as fuck don't want to get to that place. But I got to tell you that that's where I believe we are headed. I think that we are headed for a very long hard fall and winter again. And I am continually worry about the Petrie dish that we call our school systems, particularly in these states with governors that have turned themselves into executioners. You know, I just every day I say to myself, how do we get here? Why are we here? And every day it comes back

to the bullshit from the Republican Party. That's how we got here. There lies the hatred, their cruelty, those are their values. That's how we got here. She's going to talk about the vaccines and the Fiser FDA approval, the Maderna pending approval, and where we go from here.

Doctor Marcella Nuniez Smith, thank you so much for rejoining woke A f to bring us up to date on where we are with the vaccinations. This week, Fiser was just FDA approved for their vaccinations, and I heard earlier today that Maderna has filed for their full FDA approval as well. What on top of this news coming out, which I think is really good, right for those people that have been hesitant because they've been waiting for some other stamp of approval, we have had the most positive

COVID cases in the United States in the world. This week. School is back in most of the country after Labor Day. It will be after that. What are your thoughts about where we are with vaccinations, about hesitancy and whether or not the FDA approval is going to move the vaccination numbers up. Yes, yeah, no, thank you. It's great to be back. Thank you so much for having me at

such an important conversation. Notable really the full approval from the FDA this week for the Fizer BioNTech vaccine, and I think that is a watershed moment for us. I know people personally who've been waiting for that stamp of approval, as you said, and so here it is. You know, if this is what you've been looking for, it's arrived and please do go get vaccinated. You make a very

sobering observation. Right now, many people, it's back to school season, it's back to work season, and where are we right now as a country with the increase in cases and even more really the hospitalizations and even loss of life that we're seeing. And I want to just remind everybody that right now, sadly, it's still a pandemic of the unvaccinated.

And so when we look at who's in the hospital and who's losing their lives now, and these are largely preventable because of the vaccines, and all the vaccines are effective, not just fisor Maderna and Jay and Jay as well keeping people out of the hospital on the line, and so it really is important to get vaccinated. When we talk about children, I'm sure we will get into that more.

We know how to keep them safe and how to keep them safe in school, and one of the strategies is to surround them with vaccinated adults and people who are eligible haven't gotten vaccinated. So really notable Fiser approved Maderna with the full submission, so that's coming, and then of course we would expect Jay and Jada to submit as well. Really key, But vaccines don't save lives. It's vaccinations that do, and that's what we need to see

continued uptake in the number of people getting vaccinate. What can you tell us about the booster shots. The President has said to us that eight months after your second shot that you should now be getting a booster shot. Can you talk about that and why why we're thinking that this is important eight months instead of a year or what have you. Yeah, I know a lot of

questions out there about boosters. Let me start off by just kind of pulling pulling a separate and aside a conversation about people who might have weakened immune systems, and that might be because of a diagnosis that you have. Our medications that you take at FDN CDC already came out and said that, you know, you do need a third shot to get that initial good response. So your primary series should be three shots. And I say go out now, talk to your doctors. Get that third shot.

That's really important. So that's not a booster right, So separate from that is its conversation about other people who have intact immune systems. You know, when might we see immunity begin to wane, which is very normal in vaccines that we would see that. And importantly, what the science now shows that some of the evidence suggests is with the addition of delta as well, that that immunity might begin to drop in a way that begins to raise

risks somewhere around that eight month mark. Really important. What the President announced is a readiness plan in consultation with the Medical Advisor team, saying it does seem inevitable that we will need to offer boosters and so to get ready for that. But the FDA still has to do their process and the CDC, and so this isn't going to happen sooner than the end of September. So people should not should not go out now. Importantly, the fd is going to look at things like safety, so wait

for that again. If you're immunocompromise, that's separate. Go talk to your doctor now about getting your third shot. How do we deal with the fact that across the country right now, Arkansas governor has come out and said their hospitals are collapsing on the pressure. Texas I believe that it was one of the hospitals has now closed. And

let me get this right. Memorial Herman Hospital and Western Houston has closed three of their twenty four hour emergency rooms because of the amount of people that are coming in with COVID. What is your message to people that are living in these red states, These governors who have decided that they don't need to have MASK mandates that they are essentially putting their constituents at risk and continue to do so as their hospital systems are crumbling under

the pressure. Which what kind of message should we be sending to these governors, to their constituents in order to get them safe. Yeah, you know, it's unconscionable. This is not a political issue. It never was. The virus doesn't no party lines. This is a public health crisis. Public health officials should be the ones making the decisions, the recommendations. You know, we are not where we were a year ago because we know so much more, and that makes

it all the more tragic and inexcusable. We know that mask work, we have vaccines that work, and to see politicians standing in the way of the best in public health science and practice, putting constituents at risk, it's unacceptable. You know, the President has said this. When it comes to schools, it is completely unacceptable. We have to make sure our children can be in school and be safe.

CDC has clear guidance on what's needed there. The President has really directed Secretary Cardonar, his Secretary for Education, to use every level possible to make sure children can be safe in school. And you're right about the hospitals. They're stretched and stressed. We need the hospitals to be there, not just for COVID patients, but for everybody else who has a heart attack, a stroke, a car accident. And at this point it's really attenable the situation there. So

it's not political. This is a public health crisis. Kudos to the public health officials in those states and cities who are stepping forth courageously putting science first. Last question for you is about what you said earlier, vaccines don't save lives. Vaccinations save lives, and we know that we are seeing and hearing about more breakthrough cases with in fact, with people becoming infected with COVID. The good news is

they are not becoming hospitalized or dying. So what is your message for those folks that are saying, well, see that's why I'm not getting vaccinated, because you can still get COVID anyway. Yeah, I think that's so right, right to be able to say, Look, the vaccines were always intended to keep you away from severe illness, to keep us out of the hospital, and they're still working really

really well of that. That's why there isn't a rush now to say to people who've been vaccinated, you need to go out and get boosted now, because they're still working right to your point, the breakthrough infections. And one of my good friends right now just texted me and he said, look, I got a positive test, but I'm feeling pretty good. I'm so glad I got vaccinated, right, And that's the idea there is that the vaccine is going to keep you away from the worst of COVID nine.

That's still true. Delta it's different, right, and Delta is more contagious, and so we're not you know, this isn't the same kind of advice you're dealing with before. If you're not vaccinated, your chances of getting infected are incredibly high. And when we look in the hospital and who's dying their unvaccinated people, it's not too late. It is urgent, though, So please make that good choice for yourself. Your family

wouldn't want anybody else grieving unnecessarily in our country. Doctor Marcella Nunia Smith, we thank you so much for your continued work and effort to try and and curb this pandemic. You know, doctor Fauci said, you know, lastly, doctor Fauci said, you know this week that we're going to be living with this for quite some time. Is that you're feeling as well? And do you do you have more hope as we move into fall in winter that it doesn't

look the way it did in twenty twenty. Yeah, you know, I can see the whole whole of optimism we have to now that we didn't have before you the vaccines, knowing what we can do to keep ourselves safe with a mask wearing. So we are in a different place. We know the clinical trials are well underway for those children who are under twelve, so we would anticipate emergencies authorization coming along for those age groups. So it is different, and I think it's important, and I agree very much

with doctor Faucci. I mean, we live with other infectious disease. We live with influenza, for example, and so if we can move from pandemic to endemic, I mean I think that's huge, but we have all the tools now to really make a difference and bend the curve in the pandemic. I'm encouraged to see the number of folks stopping up to get vaccinated now. It is climbing quite Frankly, I

think people are paying attention. Delta has gotten their attention, and you know, with the full approval, I'm sure there'll be additional employer and other mandates coming down the pipe. So I think more people will be getting vaccinated and that is good. Doctor Marcella.
