Good morning, peeps, and welcome to wok AP Daily with Meet your Girl Daniel Moody, recording from the Home Bunker, Folks, on this book Wednesday, I want to get into a couple of things that are really pissing me off. First off, let's dig into the Supreme Court, my favoritecesspool to wade
into these days. So I was looking at the Daily Beast's website where they're you know, under the cheat sheet, and you folks know who listen to my show, you know that I also host the New Abnormal over at the Daily Beast, And there is an article entitled Scotis Justices staff push libraries to buy her book. And in this article they're talking about Justice Sonia Sotomayor, who they're saying repeatedly push public institutions, including libraries and colleges to
buy her books. According to a report, this is coming from the Associated Press. And here's what I want to say about that.
Can we not.
Just can we fucking not make it seem as if somebody who writes a book and is pushing that book, which is the job of any author, right Like, folks need to understand that if you're gonna make it to the New York Times Bestseller List. If you're going to make it to these things, it is about the amount of books that you are selling. So whether it is your publishing house, whether it is staff, whether it's friends that are able to buy in bulk, like that's the
name of the game. This is not the same fucking thing as Clarence Thomas Right and Samuel Lito entertaining fucking billlionaire benefactors who have cases in front of the court or whose companies have cases in front of the court, and they're saying like, oh no, these are just my friends that are flying me around on private jets or taking me on luxury vacations, or paying for my son's private school education, or buying my family's home and so my mother pays no mortgage. This is not the same
fucking thing. And this is the bullshit that mainstream media does in order to both sides it so that they don't seem as if they're going after the conservative justices. So let us make up some false bullshit around the progressive justices to make it seem like it is a both, And it is fucking not. Okay, it is fucking not. We all know that what Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito have been doing. Is not a fucking ethics violation. Words matter,
the way that we use them matters. This is not an ethics violation like oops, I forgot to write something in No, they are giving audience to and entertaining people who would have never crossed their paths or entered into their sphere, their fucking network had they not ascended to
the Supreme Court. They are entertaining and going on vacations with people whose entire job, like Leonard Leo, is to destroy and corrupt the justice system so that it swings as far to the right as possible, so that decisions about cases are made before those cases are even heard.
Billions of dollars were invested into his federalist society. And whether or not those people's names who are being given, you know, audience with the Supreme Court justices are on top of the cases, their companies and their businesses are affiliated.
This is bribery. This isn't about ethics.
It is about bribes that they are being given and have been given over decades. So how the fuck do you make that comparison between Sonya suttamayor publishing a book and making it a part of staff's responsibility to contact libraries and bookstores to see if there's interest in said book. Give me a fucking break. It is this type of bullshit, lying ass quote unquote journalism that gives us a Donald Trump.
Oh, Donald Trump is smart.
Because he doesn't pay taxes, So I guess the rest of us are dummies, right, Oh, Donald Trump teflon Dawn. But we're not going to report on the fact that he has been named in over four thousand court cases over his decades in business. But then you want to talk about, oh, well, we did investigate Hunter Biden and we came up with nothing. And it's just like, why did you come up with nothing or why did you give a penalty? Oh, because you didn't want to seem political.
Give me a fucking break. These bullshit white supremacist Republicans are playing the fucking system and playing the media with their fucking grievance about the liberal media. Tell me where the media is liberal, Please point to it.
All you have to do.
Is look at the c suites of the major networks and you will learn and know.
That they are not fucking liberal.
It is the same lie that Republicans have told like, oh, well, what about so and so is doing over there? It is some school yard bullshit. Well, I shouldn't be held accountable because they're not held accountable. Your crimes are actual fucking crimes and should be investigated as such, because to not do so is to play politics, which is what
just this Justice Department has been really good at. They are playing politics because when you either slow walk cases or ignore blatant criminality because you don't want the perception that if you do your job that somebody is gonna come for you, then what would the fuck would you call that? Honestly, I am just so exhausted by the bullshit. I'm exhausted by mainstream media. I'm exhausted by the stupid
questions that are fucking asked over and over again. Speaking of mainstream media and them not being liberal, I want to bring up an article that I spoke about with my friend Jared Sex and Yates over on his show Muckraker, and that podcast came out yesterday, so you guys can head over there and listen to my conversation with Jared
and Nick. And here's the thing. In my conversation, right, we were talking about the fact that the New York Times, the New York Times took it upon themselves right to publish an article from the editorial board, which is filled with very wealthy, notable people, to say, quote, America is living on borrowed money. So this is exactly how not liberal, even the New York Times, who gets that designation by the far right, and how we actually see through those lives.
They go on in this piece to talk about federal debt and to talk about the ways in which, by the way, not mention the fact that Republicans hold this country hostage with the debt ceiling, and that used to never happen. It's only in recent decade past, right with regard to Obama, a black man, becoming president of the United States, that they decided to weaponize the debt ceiling.
And they talk about the fact that quote borrowing is expensive, amounting share of federal revenue money that could be used for the benefit of the American people goes right back out the door in the form of interest payments to investors who purchased government bonds. Rather than collecting taxes from the wealthy, the government is paying the wealthy to borrow
their money. They go on to say that a way to deal with said debt issues is to take a hard look at you guessed it, social Security and Medicaid. You know, the two social safety net programs that actually benefit taxpayers. Right, Those who one can't afford medical insurance get covered through Medicaid, right, and then those who have been paying into the system their entire working life get that money back, right in terms of their social security.
They don't mention in here the ballooned budgets for defense, right. As a matter of fact, they talk about defense spending in the way that, well, we need to have it because of perceived threats. Mind you that the budget of the Pentagon every year is given way more than they ask for. And then there are those Republicans that are tied to defense contractors that make a fucking killing literally.
But when we look at the programs that actually benefit all Americans, those are the ones that the New York Times editorial board decided to zero in on as a signal to the Democratic Party that you need to make sure that you put that on your agenda. How are we going to deal with Medicaid and Social Security?
Oh? I don't fucking know.
Why didn't the editorial board write an article about the amount of billionaires and millionaires that are in this country that have been making money off of their absolute, unfettered, fucking greed at the expense of the ninety nine percent. Oh, that's right, because the editorial board is a part of that one percent. So once again you have this elite media institution coming for the working class and saying that basically,
let them eat cake. They're the ones that are contributing to the debt as opposed to those that actually fucking refuse to pay their fair share. This is what the New York Times wrote about. I can think about so many other topics that the editorial board could have tackled.
Oh, I don't know.
Maybe my other topic for woke Wednesday, which is the extreme fucking flooding that is happening in the state of Vermont, where one hundred and seventeen people and counting had been rescued by boats, where a dam has damned near broke because of the amount of rain that was dumped in that state in twenty four hours. They have now declared a state of emergency. I want to read you this. A dam in Vermont was nearing capacity and threatening to
burst at any minute. Yesterday, officials in the state's capital said as floods lashed the northeastern US due to intense storms. The Montpeeler Police Department said at eleven thirty on Tuesday that floods had slightly receded in downtown Montpeeler, but waters were only about one foot away from the Wrightsville Dam spillway. Folks, this is climate change, right, This is climate change.
I don't care.
Where you live in the country where you are listening to this. If you're in the South, you're experiencing a heat wave that we've never seen before. We've had reports in the last two weeks of the Earth, the entirety of the Earth experiencing the hottest temperatures on land for the last I don't know, one hundred and seventy five two hundred thousand years, right, every day has been hotter than the next. Parts of Texas were one hundred and twenty five degrees during the week of fourth of July.
You have.
One hundred million people in the United States because of the Canadian wildfires, needing to stay indoors or wear masks because of the toxic air. You have wildfires, you have massive tornado seasons, hurricane seasons that are coming earlier and lasting longer and causing billions of dollars worth of fucking damage.
Maybe the New York Times editorial boards should have written about that and how Republicans would rather invest more money in coal and in thus more money in oil, dragging this country back to the nineteenth century or the early twentieth century as opposed to looking towards the future, because guess what, we can't actually fucking afford the debt that we are going to incur due to climate change, because as far as I I'm concerned, FEMA and the US
government doesn't have bottomless pockets to rebuild every single state and every single city that either becomes underwater or ripped apart. There are landslides that just happened in California that moved entire fucking neighborhoods halfway down a cliff. You had one of the biggest insurance companies just announced that they are no longer going to provide insurance for California. So what
does that mean to the people that are there? So you begin to see the ripple effects that stem from the ignorance of denying that this is actually fucking happening. And instead, what do you have Republicans doing, Oh like Greg Abbott in Axis passing legislation to make it so that you don't have to provide water breaks to those that are working outside. Let me ask, when was the last time Greg Abbott, or any member of the Republican Party, or any member of the State House and Senate actually
worked outside. These are people working inside of air conditioned offices and buildings with access to as much water as they could possibly want. Passing legislation that is actually going to cause death at a time when their state is experiencing the hottest fucking summer on record. So when we think about, oh, the fucking liberal media or the corporate media, as DeSantis's campaign likes to refer to it, because they have eyes and ears and can see that his failure
to launch isn't about the corporate media. It's about having a fucking candidate that is as interesting as fucking paint drying. But this is what Republicans do. They blame the media,
and then what does the media do? They internalize and then they want to both sides and they want to ignore the actual issues that we need to be talking about that need to be front page fucking news every goddamn day, But instead you want to talk about how to slight and harm people who need their social Security check, people who need Medicaid, travel to countries that don't have these social safety nets, and trust me, trust and believe.
I am not saying that America is perfect. And if you listen to me on this show or any of my other ones, you know good goddamn well that I don't believe that America is perfect or is an example to anyone. But when I have traveled, for instance, to places like India who do not have Medicaid or social security, who do not have right infrastructure that it's supposed to help homeless people, unhoused people, I see a country that is devastating. The poverty is like nothing you have ever seen.
I remember driving and a woman pushing up a diaperless baby up against the window, just begging for any any scrap of money anything. That is what happens when your government turns your back on you. That's what happens when we say, oh, oh, well that you're low income, you're in poverty. That's your fault. That's negligence, as opposed to looking at the societal factors and systems that created that condition in the first fucking place. No, we blame the
individual or we blame an entire community. When I look at both of these things that I'm talking about today, whether it is climate change, whether it is our corrupt, grifting Supreme Court, all of it comes back down to money. To the major grift. It is greed and cruelty that is stalling actual policy on climate change because you have members of Congress that are vested in companies that do harm it to the environment, but they are totally filling
their comferts with those funds. You know, good god, damn well. The Supreme Court is corrupt and has been. It's not about ethics, It's about bribery. When we sit back and look at it, billionaires are playing chess with our lives. This is real life monopoly, except there are real people that aren't able to pass go and are going directly
into jail. There are real people who are being kicked out of their homes in displace because you have mayors that are being bought off and increasing rents in places that where your income is not increasing.
The closer to.
Power that people get, the bigger the fucking grift. And the assumption that we have always made is that people that find themselves in public service are doing good on behalf of the public. And what we are recognizing as we remove our rose colored glasses is that that has never been the fucking case never. So I don't know what bullshit golden error the Republican Party is trying to romanticize.
And remember, but no one in this country was ever doing well except for the wealthy, the white, and the straight and the cysts. But they dangle carrots in your face to make you believe that if you just work hard enough, if you just go to college and impure a six figure debt, then you two can own a helicopter and live in a multimillion dollar mansions. The media
pushes reality TV at you. You know how many of those Real Housewives of whatever on Bravo have ended up in jail because the more that they pretend to flawss, the more that they have to like cheat in order to showcase a lifestyle that they can't afford. But why were they doing that in the first place, Because we put value in that shit, Because we say that if you have all that money and all those brands and
all those cars, then you must be brilliant. What if we changed our perception a bit and said, wow, how is it that we live in societies where people have yachts and helicopters on those yachts, and there are people without homes. Give me a break. Wealth does not equal genius. It oftentimes just equals grit. That is it for me today, Dear friends on Woke a f as always power to the people and to all the people.
Power, Get woke and stay woke as fuck.
