Good morning, peeps, and welcome to wok F Daily with Meet your Girl Daniel Moody, recording from the Home Bunker, Folks. Before I get into some recent thoughts on Donald Trump's fourth indictment, I want to talk about what continues to unfold in the state of Florida. So what we need to understand is that there are real world and real life implications for all of the hateful policies measures autocratic behavior that Ron DeSantis has been exhibiting and wielding over

the state of Florida. So according to Inside Higher Ed, which if you are in higher education, that is kind of one of your trade magazine newspapers that you read on the latest of what is going on in higher education. And I want to read you a piece of what was offered up inside of this article, and this is reposted on the Daily Beast. The New College in Florida is in complete chaos after Ron DeSantis stage a conservative

takeover of the school earlier this year. Now with the semester's start just weeks away, students are being greeted with housing issues, canceled classes, and missing professors. Since Desanti has appointed six new right wing trustees to the school's board. In January, more than forty faculty members have quit The small public college. Students are outraged as the dropped courses

are setting them back in their majors. One parent said the school told their son to just quote, choose something else. These are young adults who are not looking to fill up a semester with high school elected. It's not like, oh, chorus is closed, so let me just take that art class, Danny Delaney told Inside Higher Ed. Delaney's son is transferring to Hampshire College in Massachusetts, which extended guaranteed admission to new college students after DeSantis' takeover. These are people's lives

that Ron desantists is fucking around with. You have all the right to hold your right wing bullshit, conspiracy theorists live filled misogynistic, capitalistic, driven racist ideology. What you don't have is the right to force other people into subscribing to your hateful shit. That is what dictators and autocrats

do you see in a democracy. Right when George W. Bush or any of the Bushes and Reagan and others were president of the United States, they didn't say at that time that everyone then must be a Republican, everyone must be a Christian. Everyone must do X, Y and z. If you want to create policies that have parental advisories on music, If you want to create policies to ensure that young people are not going to be influenced by pornography or actual pornography and hateful speech and all of

those things, great, go for it. But when you are telling people that their history doesn't matter, which is our shared history, that critical thinking is no longer allowed because you have instituted a board of trustees in this school that basically function like the thought police. Where do you think that that state is going to end up? Colleges and universities, right are laps for how we want to

change aspects of our world. It's by providing new minds with knowledge and big questions on how they can move in this world, how they can affect change, how they can decide to apply their skill set to tackle some of the world and society's biggest issues. Ron de Santis, however, doesn't want big ideas. He doesn't want critical thought, he

doesn't want innovation. Neither does the Republican Party. They're not interested in what the future of America looks like so long as it somehow mirrors their heyday of the nineteen fifties, where you could hang a black person right and not have any laws be thrown at you, not even worried rite about going to prison or any being seen as a criminal, Where you could rape a woman and say, ah, she was wearing a skirt, so that meant that she asked for it, Where you could promote just your cronies

and just employ through nepotism, taking into account no one else other than your golf buddies and their kids. You see those, It's just some of the ways in which the world has changed and shifted. America has grown and expanded over the last fifty sixty years, and that is what has Republicans absolutely terrified and on their authoritarian regime. Rager, Oh my god, these people can't possibly vote because they're

thinking too much. They're thinking about the ways that we've actually created no policies to make their lives any better. Do we think that what happened on Maui was a fucking accident that was mother nature? It wasn't. You can tell yourself that, you can tell your shareholders that. But the wildfires and the fucking massive hurricanes and tornadoes and all of this extreme heat and extreme weather that we are experiencing is not natural disasters that somehow happened because

of God. They happen because of greed and capital and deregulation. I know that generations from now, if there are still books around, if the planet is actually still functioning, that the moments that we are living in will have been those red flag moments where historians and professors will be saying, why didn't they listen? Why didn't they heed the warnings? The environment was changing right before their very eyes, and

they did nothing. Their political party, once in a two party democratic system, had turned into an entire cult and they did nothing. They had so many opportunities to stop. But it's not as if we haven't seen these things happen before, right McCarthyism, neo Naziism, apartheid. We have seen what happens with absolute power. We saw what happened in Iran a post the late seventies when the religious regime

took over. So none of this is new. It's just using new tools to spread the same amount of lies and hysteria to divide people, to make you think that what you were seeing with your own eyes isn't actually fucking happening. We know the weather systems were not like this twenty and thirty years ago. We know that we were not experiencing belts of triple digit temperatures affecting almost

one hundred million people at one time. We know that that has never happened before, that every fucking summer is the hottest summer recorded on planet Earth. But no emergency session. We know that by the time that all is said and done with, the accounting for of lives lost and MAWI will probably be into the thousands. That didn't happen because it was God's will. It happened because of failed fucking governments. And I'm not just talking about inside of

the United States. I'm talking about around the fucking world. I'm talking about calling for the Paris Climate Agreement that looks really great on paper, but no one is actually doing the really hard work of making it happen. I'm talking about a political part that wants to lie to thirty percent of the country to tell them that they can bring back coal and factory jobs. You're fucking lying. We are living in the future. Would you like your

kids to chew the fucking air? Would you like it to just be the norm that you know, some weeks we stay inside for days because the air is too fucking polluted for us to go outside. But don't you know, react in any way. It's not a big deal. Just slap on a mask and watch the sky turn yellow and green. I get beside myself looking at the headlines that are screaming at us, that are telling us to

do something, to take action. The people who can afford to flee will for as long as they can, whether you're fleeing the authoritarian states of Florida and Texas, uprooting your families and your lives to go to higher ground, right, just like people who can flee tornado valleys and hurricane prone areas. But guess what we're running out of higher ground and what happens then? The headlines are heartbreaking, and we pay a lot of attention to them because they're

clickbait and because we can't get enough. We pray for accountability as it pertains to Donald Trump and literally his crime syndicate, because we think that that is going to take us back to a place of normalcy where we can have ease and deep breaths. Again, the same way that we felt about COVID, which by the way, is

raging again. Hospitalizations are going back up. But we're not going to talk about that because you know, corporate America and the c suite at media networks and you know Biden not wanting to have this as a talking point for the right. But that's happening again. So just like I was on a train the other day and I'm sitting I'm thinking to myself, Man, I really got to

take out my masks again. I really got to retrain myself back into protecting myself, regardless of if there is going to be a press conference to tell me to do so. See, that's the thing is that much like with COVID and just trying to get back to normal and pretend a million plus people didn't die and that our lives and work and wasn't changed, right, there is no going back to normal. Guys like and I I've said this before, but there was no normal if you

weren't a white cis hetero, white evangelical Christian male. Everyone else works with the hyphen right. And so if you are a black person in America, you've always been treated like a second class citizen. You've always known that government doesn't actually work for you, that your voice and your vote you have had to fight for every step of the way.

Now white folks in places like Ohio and Kansas and Wisconsin are like, oh wait, it's not just the blacks and the Latinos that they were trying to suppress, Like I was okay with that, but now it's me first. They come for the low hanging fruit, the folks that have been traditionally marginalized and treated like second class citizens and oppressed. And because we don't band together and stay together,

they just keep crying open the cracks. The goal is to create no room for there to be cracks, for us to be able to see that our liberation is intertwined. It isn't just about trans people, LGBTQ people, black people, Latino people, Asian people. It is about all of us, all of us having the ability to breathe fresh air, drink clean water, provide for our loved ones, build a life. And so when one group, one party, decides that they want to disrupt for a portion, that should be seen

as a disruption for the fucking hole. You shouldn't have to know somebody love somebody to see that what they've been doing is fucking wrong. So whether it is the capitalistic driven climate change that has killed people, burned a historic city in town to the ground, and you know what's gonna happen. The fucking corporate vultures are gonna come in and put up a fucking Hilton and a race whatever history, because that's what the fuck they did in

parts of New Orleans after Katrina. We are more powerful than we know. That is the purpose of what it means to be and stay woke is to recognize the connective tissue that binds us all is our shared humanity, and by virtue of that humanity, realizing that we all deserve to be free. So I sit here and I want to believe that accountability will come at some point, whether we're talking about Trump, whether we're talking about climate change,

whether we're talking about education, the economy. But accountability only comes through actions of the collective. We're never returning to what we once were, nor should we have a desire to, because the goal should be to be better, even if it's one percent better each and every day, with every step that we take forward as individuals and as a nation.

So anybody that is selling you on the bullshit of going backwards is a used car salesman and is somebody that is trying to get you to give up the liberty, the innovation, the creativity that we've gained in exchange for some white utopia that is only good for the thirty percent. We're better than what they're selling, We're better than what's being done, and we're better fighting as a collective than

in our silos. What we are facing is not just the potential of a criminal that has been brought up on ninety one charges, impeached twice, and is a rapist becoming president of the United States again. We're up against an entire mindset and ideology that has thrown law and order out the window. Alongside freedom. We are in a collective struggle that we can only win through collective solutions. That is it for me today, Dear friends on wogay f as always, power to the people and to all

the people. Power, get woke and stay woke as fuck.
