An Extraordinarily Hard Year

You have no idea, or maybe you do, because this week, this year, this month has just been tiring, exhausting, and so first off, let me go to my buckets and then I'll end with some feel it unless my fuckets take over, which sometimes they do. You all listen to me. I am so over columns like the one that was recently written by David Frum in the Atlantic that wants us to somehow believe that there are some good Republicans that still exist

in office. His article was about the Colorado State Supreme Court providing Republicans within out to get rid of Donald Trump once and for all. And the article assumes that there are Republicans that are not aligned with Donald Trump, that somehow they're being held hostage by Donald Trump and MAGA and they're just looking praying for somebody to show them the light towards democracy and liberation. Can we cut

the bullshit please and just stop with the fantasy. I think that it is really hard for people in the media to wrap their minds around the fact that one of the two political parties in this country has turned into an absolute and unabated cult, that they are not mincing words, that we don't have to do this laborious work of turning ourselves into pretzels to try and part and parcel out what they are saying and try and

figure out what they mean. It's not a guy that you can't figure out whether or not or a girl, whether or not you're dating them, if they're into you. No, they're telling you very fucking clearly, I don't want to fuck with you. If you are not white, if you are not straight, if you are not sis, if you are not Christian, if you don't believe wholeheartedly in the Second Amendment and the fact that kids, you know, it

doesn't matter if they're murdered in their classrooms. If you don't believe that a woman should you know, suffer death in order to give birth to a non viable fetus. If you don't exist inside of their white supreme fascist patriarchal, misogynist,

hateful spear. They're not trying to fuck with you. I don't know how much more clear that they need to make it so everyone this week right has been trying to say that, oh, Donald Trump has echoes of Hitler and echoes of fascism and echoes of Nazism a mom like, when does the echo stop? And it's just what is coming out of his mouth, right, it doesn't resemble said thing. It is said thing. It doesn't echo of fascism. It's

not racially fucking tinged. It's just racist. Like, when are we allowed to just fucking say what it is instead of wasting so much energy and frankly, so much fucking ink coming up with some other reason as to why like X, Y or Z can't possibly be what it is that they're saying. Maya angelou, right, we say this

quote all the time. Take it to fucking heart. When people show you who they are, When people tell you who they are, believe them right, don't believe the idea that you have projected onto them of who you would like them to be, how better you would like them to be than what it is that they are fucking showing you that goes for our representatives as well as people in your lives, your family, your friends, you know, your significant others. If people are consistently showing up to

you as less, then they are less right. And if you want more, then that ain't the place that you gotta go find it. You know what I'm saying. You gotta look elsewhere because you can still keep tapping a tree, but it's a bank coming out my friends. Do you know what I'm saying? Ain't nothing sweet left there? So I am at a loss when I see these fucking articles. Now,

what are we Eight years into MAGA supremacy? Right, eight years into this and people are still convinced that somewhere under some rock, in the back of some closet, right in some you know place, there is a Republican that is looking for an out from MAGA. I will tell you who those Republicans are, because they're no longer in office. Mid Romney, who just announced that he's not seeking reelection. Oh we need fresh blood. It's because no one likes you, dude.

You are no longer the standard bearer, right, You're morales and your values no longer fucking align with where this party has gone. So you don't have a constituency, so you're out. Liz Cheney, who by the way, voted on par with Donald Trump and magasm ninety percent of the time.

She's a fucking Cheney for God's sakes. But the one thing that she wouldn't go along with was that the election was stolen because she knew that if we started to question our elections right, then what makes America America would be no more, which is our trust and faith in our institutions. So she's gone. Adam right Zillinger whatever his name is, who also the other Republican that sat

on the January sixth Commission gone lost his seat. So when we are looking around right for good Republicans, the ones that were quote unquote good because they believed in reality that Donald Trump lost the election, they no longer hold any power. And for the ones that are rising in their positions, like a Mike Johnson that came out of fucking nowhere, why did he come out of nowhere Because he rose to power based on Donald Trump's lie.

That's how he got into office. So I just need people at lists in corporate media to please stop with the bullshit stories and can we all just get on the same page. The Republican Party is null and void. They are gone. They have jumped the shark. They are over the cliff right, they are in the fucking bell jar like they are looney fucking tunes. They are talking about murder and redemption and violence and we need to kill everybody. We need to burn people at the stake.

I mean, this is shit coming out of the mouths of Nick Fuentes, who dined with Donald Trump, the known white supremacist. You're going to these rallies. I saw a clip on MSNBC talking about women belonging in the kitchen and women have no place. Meanwhile, these fucking Republican women are going to Turning Point, right, the major right wing conference,

and I'm just like, what are you doing. I mean, unless you're unless you're cruising for you know, you're good, good white man, that's gonna suppress and oppress you right and turn you into a baby making machine if you're going there because you want to do what exactly, Because when that young woman you all remember at Turning Point this year raised her hand and talked about, oh, she wants to be a brain surgeon or she wants to do whatever, and She's just looking for advice on how

to be able to do both, and they told her go hold a baby. And if that doesn't change your mind, then like there's something wrong with you. I just don't understand what these Republican women want, and especially the ones that are even holding office, Like just your very existence goes against what it is that these men want. Right, Like, I guess you're nothing more than window dressing so that they can say that they have a few, just like

they do it black Republicans. But it just makes me sick, the fucking narrative that somehow, somewhere there is this battalion of you know, of anti Maga Republicans that have some type of power. They don't. So just give up the fucking ghost so that we can move on to something else. Okay,

the Colorado. Staying on Colorado for a minute, the Colorado Supreme Court decided to remove Donald Trump from the ballot if in fact, the Supreme Court does not intervene by January fourth, which I believe is the deadline that the Secretary of State has provided before they begin printing ballots for the primary, Donald Trump won't be on there. And you know, there's a lot of pontificating that is going on on the news right now about the avenues that

this corrupt, grifting ass Supreme Court contain. But you know, let's understand Clarence Thomas ain recusing himself because his you know, his sugar faucet, his sugar daddy wouldn't give him his allowance if he did that. Alito has already told us, you know what he does. I think that we just saw that Justice Chief Justice John Roberts took all of two minutes to read a ninety eight page decision. So we know that these motherfuckers are not reading. They don't

give a fuck. They've already made their decisions about what it is that they are doing to advance their own cause they don't care about America. Right, So, this idea that somehow this is going to be the thing that removes Donald Trump from office, it's not. Three of the members that are on the Supreme Court he put in. He installed along with Mitch McConnell for these very reasons. Right, so we know where this court is going. They're not

going to align with the American people. And as a matter of fact, their alignment with Donald Trump and with MAGA may be the final nail in their own coffin, because you know what, authoritarian and dictators don't need a fucking Supreme Court, right, looking at the rule of law, the rule of law means nothing. It means whatever, whatever it is the dictator says, it means right. If he says comes out and says that the sky is fucking orange, you know, then the sky is fucking orange. That's just

the way that it is. So you don't need a Supreme Court when you have a dictatorship. So you know, we will see the Supreme Court is going to be ruling on a couple of things. They also have Jack Smith's immunity case that Donald Trump has asked them not to take up. Take your time, because you know, his whole tactic is not to prove whether or not he is innocent, because he knows that he's guilty as fucking sin.

It's just delay, delay, delay, So will they follow, you know, Donald Trump like they've been doing and just delay and say they have too many important things on their docket. I don't know what could be more important, And then you know, preserving our elections. But you know they're on their crusade to destroy every bit of progress that has been made over the last sixty years. So maybe that includes, you know, the rights and responsibilities that the executive branch has.

We have no idea, you know, want to know what I know? What I think is funny though not funny, ha haa, just like funny. So Republicans come out and they say, let the voters decide, right, like, we don't decide these things in the courts. Let the voters decide. Voters decide. Then they say, no, no, no, we got to use the courts because the voters don't know what they're doing because they didn't vote their way. So then the courts decide, and then they're like no, no, no, no, no,

that's not how we decide democracy. What is funny here is that they voted to open an impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden. We have no idea what the grounds of that impeachment inquiry are. Details, who needs them, you know. But the fact is that Republicans want two things at the same time to be true, which sometimes can happen, but in this instant can't. You can at once want to impeach a president for being a criminal, but then want the Supreme Court to say that whatever the president

does when they are president is not criminal. They want to hold Biden accountable for his son's addiction and his son's crimes because he is the son of the President of the United States, so he must be responsible for every movement that his son makes. They want to hold him responsible for that right and get him out of office. But then at the same time, Donald Trump is not responsible for anything that he's done because the office of

the presidency provides you absolute cover. Which fucking one is it? They don't know, they don't care. Right like this is when you know that the rule of law doesn't matter. It is bent to their will when they want it to be, and then it's weaponized when they want it to be. That's what we can look forward to in twenty twenty five if Donald Trump becomes president again, or any Republican for that matter, becomes president, because that's exactly

what they will do. These people do not want a democracy. Democracy doesn't work for them because their ideas are not popular. Democracy works when you create policies and a platform that

people can align themselves with. But you see, as people have become more progressive, more open minded, and this country has become browner, right their policies have become less and less popular, so rather than create ideas that people could get behind, they have decided to one take away people's ability to vote two right institute like rules and policies that can't be overturned, kick people out for speaking right like.

They have done everything that they can so that they have the ability to pick their voter as opposed to the voter picking the representative because their shit is not popular, so they have to lie, they have to be underhanded, they have to cheat, and they have to steal, and they have to suppress. That's the only way that they win because on the merits they fucking lose, and we

see it time and time and time again. The thing that makes me nervous about this upcoming year are the stances that the Biden administration is taking on foreign affairs in fucking Gaza, with like just being okay with the fucking genocide and thinking that somehow that's not going to affect how people vote at home now. Historically, look, people

usually don't care about what is happening abroad. This fucking case though, something very different, something very very very different that goes to the core of who we are and who we want to be as Americans. And that's the thing that this current administration is not getting right, is that like young people, particularly this generation Z right, the younger age millennials, they are not trying to fuck with inauthenticity. Right.

So if you're gonna walk and talk democracy, they want you to walk and talk it every fucking where that you go, not just when it is convenient, right. They want people to take a stand or they will sit the fuck down. And that's what we are in danger of is not that Donald Trump has any of the best ideas. It's that everyone is pissed off at the

Biden administration and rightfully fucking so. And that unless we can make the case compelling that unless you too want to end up in an open air camp, unless you too want to be going through two different types of security, unless you too want to have different license plates for different roads that you're allowed to go on and different jobs that you are allowed to have, Unless you want your life dictated to you and your self efficacy right taken away from you in the way that it has

been taken away right in Israel and Palestine, like, unless you want that to be your lived existence. You know, maybe you'll think about voting for democracy and not a fucking person, but go off, you know. So let me close out with how I am feeling and I want us as we all are winding down the year, and WOKF has wonderful pre recorded holiday interviews, you know, to keep you going while you're with family and friends and vacationing and what have you. So don't you worry about that.

But I myself am absolutely taking a break, as is my wonderful producer Andrew who Hall has been holding down this show for years alongside me. Everyone needs a break, and so I really encourage everyone to take a break and to think out as you're looking ahead for next year, what your incremental breaks will look like, right, because we can't store up everything for you know, just two weeks out of the year when we are consistently feel like

we're running for our lives. So I want people to think about and plan for what is your relaxation, your alignment look like on a daily basis, On a weekly basis, how are you feeding yourself and ground yourself? What is providing you hope and possibility? What is giving you breath as opposed to taking it? I want us to focus on how we want to feel each day, each week, each month. Understanding folks that we're not always going to

feel good. But the fact is is how we react to not feeling good right, the tools that we have, the grounding that we have to know that we can get to the other side. This year coming is going to be extraordinarily hard. I am not going to lie to you, right, And so if you know that, how are you preparing for it? Mentally, emotionally, spiritually, physically. I will tell you that one of the things that I have let go and am recommitting to is my health.

I have put on significant weight and it is making me feel all types of ways. And I am recommitting to not letting my quote unquote busy schedule because we're all busy, Everyone is busy get in the way of me taking care of myself or using my weekends to consistently reward myself in a way that actually leaves my body feeling sluggish and just you know, weighed down. And so for me, you know, I am recommitting and this is not a New Year's resolution, It is not any

of those things. But I know how difficult for me this year is going to be. So I need to be in my best emotional, physical, spiritual, mental shape in order to be able to be as nimble as possible to roll with what this year is going to bring.

And I encourage all of us, all of us to do that because what happens is for me when I get to a place of overwhelm, I you know, fall back on really bad habits of overeating, over drinking, you know, and just deciding that I don't really want to work out today, I don't really want to do this, I don't really want to do that. It's just easier to order in all of these things that seem easy at the time but then make me feel bad later on. And it's just like there is just too much that

it's going to be happening and coming our way. And I recognize that for me, my resistance right also looks like getting in the best shape that I possibly can be, And so you know, I am challenging myself to rise to that occasion because just like I meditate twice a day, just like you know I go for walks and care for my plants and these things, I also have to amp up and double down on all the ways that I need to care for myself because you know, the folks,

you've heard the stories of people on the front lines of movements having heart attacks, really young, taking their own life, developing all sorts of disease because of the stress and the strain and the bad habits and all of those things that compound themselves. And so I'm taking that to heart very seriously, and so that is what I'm going to do to also focus on my feel good and fun news. I am working on my very first book

this year. I'm working on finishing completing a book proposal and then taking on the task of hopefully somebody wanting it, and then working on the full fledged book. And so those are my two goals to develop my health and wellness and to you know, become an author this year. And so what are you thinking about? How do you want to feel, what are you looking forward to, what is going to fill you up, and what are you going to put your energy towards. I'm really excited, guys
